Ooops got clicky happy there.

I'm still in agony today with (i think) sciatica, difficulty weight bearing on my legs. I feel like crying cos there is so much i want to do - housework ironing etc but i can't do it i just have to stay sitting .

OP posts:
eeyoreuk · 30/10/2006 08:26

m2t you make it all sound so relaxed and refined - so hope it can be like this for all of us.

FoghornLeghorn · 30/10/2006 08:29

Huge Congrats M2T
Sounds wonderful and all very positive.

It has only just dawned on me this morning that as & when me, DH, DD & LO all want to go out we have no way of doing it.
We sold our car about 5 weeks ago and I haven't been too fussed about getting a new one sorted out as DH has his van for work and I thought it would encourage me to do lots more walking, which it has - but now realised we are buggered when LO arrives .

Guess that's something I better get on to eh !

No sex last night - DH and I had a row so there was no way ~I was going there even if it was for my benefit

purpleluce · 30/10/2006 08:54

morning all congrats m2t am now 40+1 so clearly was right to start on this thread.........Halloween baby? bonfire night baby or please no not remembrance day baby...just too far away

harrogatemum · 30/10/2006 09:01

big congrats to Mummy2Toby and family - are you going to change your Mumsnet name now!!??

Delia · 30/10/2006 09:49

morning all,
Charlee - i know you aimed the Q at NJ but i thought i would answer! - I have bled right the way through after sex and only the last time have escaped! was the blood bright or dull red? if it was just a few spots it should be fine but mention it to mw just to be safe. if you get any more bleeding call the ward to get it checked out, they told me it was to be expected at this stage but if i had any extra bleeding they would do an internal to check it out.

Delia · 30/10/2006 09:51

As for haloween names we've had them all (my family and friends like to be cruel!) you could have Damien, Elvira, Draco, Casper....... i won't go on!

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/10/2006 10:17

Thanks Delia - It was jsut a sew small spots of bright red blood last night but nothing this moring, i was just wondering as they say if your anti-d you may need an anti-d injection if you have a bleed.
I figure it may be just where my cervix is gearing up for things apparently the blood vessles can burst a little when it starts to move forward? I don't know i think i will just see how things go.

Mummy2toby you will have to change you mumsnet now to Mummy2TobyandFreya! Lovley birth story i hope i get time for a Maccy D's

Purpleluce! Your a full 40 weeks so deffo anytime for you i should think how exciting! maybe you will be next?

Hattie hugs to you i know how you feel when there is so much to do and your in pain, just rest as much as you can and do the bare essentials. Is there anyone that can help you out with housework?

Still not sure what to do with the haloween thing MIL wont go out as apparently that would embarass BIL and SIL! but what ever happens im not giving in, i don't want DS out in the dark with kids looking after him.

40Weeks · 30/10/2006 10:21

Morning all!

Congratullations to M2T&F (see I have given you a new name already!)
Glad to hear another baby has made its way into the world. Saw my midwife yesterday as she dropped the homebirth pack off and she said my period pains were a good sign that my pelvis is getting all nice and relaxed for the Big Event. APart from chronic indigestion and hands and feet so swollen they hurt to move, I am doing fine. I am so excited now and have made loads of plans for my matenity leave so that Iam not fixating on my due date. Also, two of my friends had their babies at the weekend! Very good news all round.
My tens machine arrived this weekend but it doesnt work! Grrrrr - I need a new set of leads as only one set seem to work.

NatalieJane · 30/10/2006 10:26

Stacey - Sorry you are still hanging on, I realy thought the silence meant it had happened for you.
M2T - I hope the sleeping routine carries on like that! Freya sounds adorable - Well done!!!!
Charlee - my midwife actually told me on my booking in visit that any slight bleeding after sex was to be expected with second time mums, but Saturday night was the first time I had actually bled. It was such a little bit I really wasn't concerned. I did have a few small very light bleeds around the middle of the pregnancy, again I didn't panic because I knew I had been over doing it. I don't think it has anything to do with labour being lose, I think we just erm.... made up for lost time a bit too well!! LOL

Speaking of names (I quite like Casper BTW!) We are down to 2 choices, George Harry, or George Patrick, surname is Oliver, is GPO as initials taking the micky a bit?

eeyoreuk · 30/10/2006 10:28

Charlee - i totally agree with you and if mil wont compromise then it is her tough luck.

Delia - as for halloween names my dh nickname is Fester as in uncle fester from the adams family so when people have been asking me about names for the baby i have been winding them up by replying Mortica for a girl and Gomez for a boy.

40 wks my hands are not really swollen but my feet are sore where the skin is so stretched.

But on a brighter note the pain has gone from my hip. am off to do some more sorting of the bedroom cupboards speak later eeyoreuk

40Weeks · 30/10/2006 10:41

Everyone seems to be doing the 'nesting' I even cleared out the cupboards at my Mums over the weekend! Poor Mum - we have completely taken over her house! AND she bought me a nice top that isnt maternity but stretches over my bump and will do me for afterwards as well. Plus I have all her wardrobe to borrow! DH cooked us lovely roast dinner last night so am getting thoroughly spoilt

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/10/2006 10:43

My ankles are swollen like baloons i look quite a sight because my feet are normal size its just my ankles that are fat!
The sex wasn't really vigerous last night more of a relaxed thing, but in regards to the bleeding it has developed into nothing i was just interested because of my anti-d, my midwife never answers her pager anyway so i don't think i wil bother at the moment unless something else happens.

There are loads of people on our list who haven't posted for ages i hope everything is going ok for them! We may have more babies born and not know about it!

saralou100 · 30/10/2006 10:49

tmi here but my bits appear to have swollen up to about 3 times it's natural size (maybe bigger, i can't see).. so painful to touch aswell. i've just had enough now.. i don't mind being pregnant, but why does it have to hurt so much.. i can't roll over in bed without being in agony, i can't get off the sofa on my own, i can't get out of the bath on my own, i can't run round and play with ds... yup, today i am mostly feeling sorry for myself!! 4 more weeks of pain pain pain, and thats as long as lo is born on due date.. i could have 6 weeks of this! i'm definitely coming back in my next life as a bloke!!

right thats enough moaning!!

charlee, stand your ground, if you don't want ds going out with them alone don't let him! i wouldn't let ds out tbh.. good suggestion to have an adult going too!

eeyore, your welcome for the energy! glad you used it wisely! i'm gonna try and take it easy from now on and resist my cleaning urges as i'm sure it's not helping down their (although cleaning always sparks of bh)

nj, we just bought the most basic digital monitor.. with ds it was nice to have the reassurance (spent many evenings with monitor to ear listening to him breath) but after a while i relaxed and barely used it! have just bought the digital one as the old one wasn't and really crackly (probably why i didn't use it much) so the only thing i would reccomend is that you go digital!

Mummy2Toby.. what a lovely birth story.. you make it sound so calm and relaxed! love all the tea drinking! pleased for you freya's doing nicely.

40Weeks · 30/10/2006 10:55

Charlee - I know what you mean about the feet looking odd but I only have one pair of shoes that fit me now and my Mum picked up some boots for me that I wanted from Nine West that were reduced - I cant even get them over my feet let alone done up my leg!

Re baby monitor, we got a video one but only because it was on sale - someone had returned it to John Lewis and it wasnt in the box so we got it for £40 instead of over £100 - DH was so proud at himself for spotting sauch a bargain and it was the same price as all the others (which we were overwhelmed with as so much choice) but I dont have any recommendations about brands or anything.

Sorry you are feeling crap SarahLou - it doesnt sound like much fun

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/10/2006 11:03

Sorry your feeling bad saralou, lol soon we will all be moaning about sleepless nights, leaky boobs and sore post labour bits!

For what it's worth though i have been feeling quite swollen and sore 'down below' for about a week now i think it's probably just the pressure from a big bubby pushing down!

(I can just imagine you all sitting at home thinking - god is there anything that woman doesn't have wrong with her?)

We have a Fisherprice baby monitor it was only £30 we haven't used it yet. But we have a cheapy £16 one for DS its a Tomy one it's crap we can hear him dry but not breathing or anything as its so crackly, its one that has to be plugged in both ends.

40Weeks · 30/10/2006 11:52

Dont worry Charlee, if you cant moan here then where can you?! Just sorry you aren't feeling tip top

eeyoreuk · 30/10/2006 12:18

Well mw just been bp 98 again so i am off to the hospital again now - this will be the 4th time in 8 days - i am 39+2 i just wish they would do something to start me off now instead of just keep saying lets keep an eye on things. speak later eeyoreuk

40Weeks · 30/10/2006 12:19

Oh god I am so bored at work - there is hardly anything to do and I just keep thinking that I could be getting baby's stuff ready if I were at home. I only have to work til Thurs but its frustrating knowing that I dont have much to do! I have most of baby's stuff ready but could still be at the shops instead of here, getting stuff ready for Christmas and all the family borthdays coming up - we must all be really randy in my family during Feb as have both sisters, one nephew and then both BIL at Christmas time - oh and you know I said I wanted to buy the baby a really lovely teddy for Christmas as a keepsake? Well apparently thats what my PIL are doing for Baby! Back to the drawing board.

NatalieJane · 30/10/2006 12:24

We did buy a video monitor from Woolies, brought it home and it was absolute bobbins!! The picture was really grainy, wouldn't have been able to make a face out of it, the sound was very hit and miss, and it had a very quiet but noticable beep beep beep thing going on, so we took it back.

We had the classic walkabout Tomy ones for DS, they were great, never let us down once, but the ones I am really keen on have so much extra on them, it is the Tomy Platinum ones, they are digital for a start, but also has the temperature readings, remotely controlled night lights (wow wee!!!! ) a last feed timer (very useful for the night feeds where time seems to become way too much info to be able to handle!!) and loads more, just not sure if it is worth paying double for? £80 seems a lot of money to me for what is essentially a pretty basic bit of kit, but it is a basc bit of kit that would be fairly handy to have. The temperature thing would really be useful, the babies room is what used to be the spare room which was piled up with 'stuff' since we moved in, and so that room has never been used as part of the house IYSWIM? So we have no idea if it is a bit chilly at night in there, or if it holds all the heat being a smaller room etc.

HopingCat · 30/10/2006 13:57

Congratulations Mummy2Toby! Your little girl sounds lovely, and that birth story gives me hope! Some people really can have 'nice' births then.
I'm now 39+1 and not felt like much is happening, except that the bh happen a lot more often. They still don't hurt though so I think I'm lucky.

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/10/2006 14:04

eeyoreuk i hope they do something at the hospital for you, with DS my bp went up once and they whipped me in there and then for an induction! But really i think after 4 times they should pull a finger out and do something!

Hopingcat it must be soon for you hun? I am going to go clinicaly insane if i go overdue i swear! but at least your not having any problems fingers crossed we hear about your lovley LO making an appearence soon!

I am spending alot of time on my birthing ball at the moment, the pressure and pain down below is getting unbarable it feels like i have already given birth as im really sore, i am having sporadic periods od contractions real painfull ones but never more than 4 before they die sown for an hour or two.

We had the washing machine engineer out again today the lovley man emptied my clean washing on the floor and thenused it to clean up all the dirty water he emptied on the floor from the machine! i have a bloomin good mind to complain, especially since he still didn't fix it!

NatalieJane · 30/10/2006 14:26

I have started a thread on this, but wondered if those of you who have used a TENS machine before know if it is worth paying £60-ish for a branded name one, or if the ones they sell on eBay for £15 are as good? Is it all in the name, or is it a case of being better quality?

40Weeks · 30/10/2006 14:31

OMG Charlee - I would sooo complain about that. How dare he? Go mad, they will then see that its easier to give you a new one than keep trying to fix it.
Also, another note of the monitors - I think they sell them on Amazon and usually you can read a buyers review so might be worth looking on there at the different makes?
NJ - no idea about the Tens Machine - all I know is the one I hired doesnt work so am hoping the new one will arrive before labour starts!
Just had a double decker - oooooh I havent had one for ages and it was lovely
