Hi lemon, welcome. It all depends where you are and what procedure your surgery takes. I got a MW appt at 6 weeks, and am waiting on an appt at the hospital for booking in/bloods/scan. I just rang my surgery, said I was x weeks pregnant and could I book an appt with the MW. That appt took about half an hour, the main booking in one can take about 2 hours. I'd just ring the surgery, ask what their procedure is, and hopefully the receptionist can tell you who to see and the timescales they tend to work to.

Toast85 · 17/03/2015 21:32

Whereas I had to see GP, who sent referral to main hospital, who then sent it on to mw who works in my area of the county. I hadn't heard anything 2 weeks later so did some chasing around and phoned the local mw team to get my booking in appointment booked. Not sure how long it would have taken them had I not chased it up!
Clearly very different depending on where you live!

I've been waking early too. Also - Major bloating! I keep trying things on and having to change because I actually look pregnant. My boobs look huge and my stomach is no longer flat.

Totally agree about inappropriate comments. My brother in law feels that it's ok to make comments to my husband about his "little soldiers not working" (they don't know we're trying for over a year). I snapped the other night and said "imagine if it was that, or it was me with the 'problem', how do you think that would make us feel?". I don't know why he things it's funny, when there's nothing funny about it!!!

On the plus side, I've just got one work day and one sleep until my 12 week scan. I'm just hoping everything is ok. I'm feeling super nervous. To be honest, I'm just worried they'll say that there's no baby........??.

We're out for a meal on Saturday with DH'a family to celebrate the end of his Mum's chemo. Then meeting my family on Sunday for a delayed Mother's Day meal. We're hoping to give good news then. Fingers crossed.

Love to you all (and bumps of course) x

whoknew28 · 18/03/2015 07:13

Good luck life, really hope the scan goes well ??

Found out that my DH's sister miscarried yesterday at 6 weeks... So sad for her, her 2nd loss in a year. Hate how difficult this process is for some of us.

Hope everyone's doing okay, looking forward to/slightly dreading my 2nd early scan next weds at 10 wks. (Greedy, I know) Why does time drag so slowly during this early bit?!

Toast85 · 18/03/2015 07:49

It's a shame how people can be so insensitive isn't it? I guess most of the time people just want to hear some exciting news to celebrate with you.. Or is that me just being optimistic?
We were married 4 1/2 years before ttc, didn't get too many comments in that time though as we were only 24 and 25 when married and living in a tiny flat, and I don't think anyone expected us to start a family at that stage. Then DH went back to uni to train as a nurse- no one bothered asking then as I guess they assumed we'd wait until he was qualified. As it is I think we surprised everyone by getting pregnant before he has finished his training. Cue a few worried comments from parents etc re. the current jobs market for newly qualified nurses.
EPU day today... :/ fingers crossed everyone please.

Sorry to hear about your SIL whoknew. It's a real rollercoaster isn't it.

Choccywoccydodah · 18/03/2015 08:27

Good luck today toast!! No more spotting I assume? Little one just getting comfy in there I bet :)

Sorry to hear about your sil whoknew recurrent mc has been the hardest thing in my life I've ever had to go through, I wouldn't wish it on anybody. I hope she has lots of support.

Re comments, some people are totally insensitive and thibgs have nothing to do with them altogether.
Dh and I were together exactly 10 years when we married, then te baby questions started. We really didn't think we'd have kids as we were so selfish. Both had great incomes, lived in a lovely house, went on amazing holidays, and we didn't see where kids would fit in. We just told everyone stop asking as chances are we wouldn't have kids. And they did!!
We got to being married 3 years and felt something was missing. We'd done what we wanted to do so tried for a baby. After 3 months I caught, cue some very shocked faces when we announced our news Grin

scatterbrainedlass · 18/03/2015 08:59

Gahhh, gone over a year without a cold, and now, as soon as I'm pregnant, my boss catches a cold and very generously shares it with the rest of us Sad And the worst thing is, the only thing I can self-medicate with is boiled sweets and decaf tea.

gaggiagirl · 18/03/2015 09:04

Cant you have a Lemsip scatter or a hot squash?

scatterbrainedlass · 18/03/2015 09:28

Can't stand hot squash, usually just drink loads of tea, but decaf doesn't quite cut it! Not sure about Lemsip, might have combined pain killers in? Plus I'd have to leave the house Shock

Choccywoccydodah · 18/03/2015 11:17

Scatter I feel your pain, I've just got over a cold.
No you cannot use lemsip while pregnant, only thing you can take is paracetamol but it did naff all for me!

Just been to the shops to get chicken pox stuff for ds.
And OMG I also got PRINGLES!!!!!! Soooooooo good!!! Except ds wants them too, that wasn't the plan lol!

whoknew28 · 18/03/2015 11:38

Good luck toast, thinking of you! Choccy, yes, mc is just so hard, as you know well. SIL has good support, I just now feel guilty for being the pregnant one, although def not counting chickens ahead of the 12 wk scan thanks to the mmc hideousness of last sept.

scatterbrainedlass · 18/03/2015 11:48

Haha choccy, it's egg mayo sandwiches for me atm, can't get enough!! Enjoy your pringles Grin

Toast85 · 18/03/2015 11:54

All fine, all fine, all fine! GrinGrinGrin Heartbeat was there, and baby is in the right place.

So relieved. 9+4 which is 5 days later than LMP suggests (was 10+2 today) but makes more sense with the dates and I was expecting a slightly later date anyway. So the new EDD is 17/10/15.
Going to go post on the fb group now too.

gingerbreadmam · 18/03/2015 12:40

hey toast i totally forgot we are both on the same ante natal board. i also had a scan today due to a bleed on sunday. baby measuring 9 weeks (lmp puts me at 9+2) and sonographer said everything is perfect. yeyyyy i can post again!

Adventuregame · 18/03/2015 13:19

Update : Had booking in appointment yesterday. Midwife absolutely lovely and spoke very highly of the Consultant team who I will see for pre existing medical condition. I told her my worries that it might have just stopped growing and she did offer me an earlier scan to put my mind at rest but I said my 12 weeks was only 2 weeks away so seemed silly - she said 'oh you are good, most women come in demanding extra scans' ! Of course when I got home I wished I had said yes as I started worrying again ! Then....ULTIMATE NO NO..... I did a clear blue weeks indicator and it only said 2-3 weeks although it was mid afternoon !! The crazy thing is I'm the one that's been having trouble getting my head around all this and wondering if I really want our life to go down this path but yet wouldn't want it to go wrong either - it's messing with my head sooooooo much !!!!!

JassyRadlett · 18/03/2015 14:03

Great news, toast!

Toast85 · 18/03/2015 16:37

Great news ginger! I was lurking on a mc thread earlier (probably wasn't the best idea at the time but hey ho) and saw you there- really pleased you've had good news today too.
Adventure hopefully the next 2 weeks will go quickly for you. Have you got lots to keep you busy?

TheDisillusionedAnarchist · 18/03/2015 16:44

Just checking in think I missed the last thread entirely. I had a week of bleeding and just felt it wouldn't work out but 2 good scans later plus nuchal today which baby was one day too small for, I'm finally believing it might so thought I would say hello again.

gaggiagirl · 18/03/2015 17:25

Hello again to you all! Glad to hear all is well with you.

Choccywoccydodah · 18/03/2015 17:35

Adventure take the scan! You ARE good!

AnnaBegins · 18/03/2015 17:57

Yay toast! Glad all is well.

Lifeunexpected · 18/03/2015 19:17

So pleased that you've had positive scans. That's fabulous news! I'm starting to wish I had early scans, because I'm worried I've convinced myself, DH and the mid-wife I'm pregnant. How has no one questioned to see my BFP?! God, I hope it's been worth the 12 week wait.

Sorry, panic! It's Scan Eve and it's scary.

I'm going to go eat my takeaway pizza now and watch Scandal. Thanks girls for being my sounding board Grin xx
