Fabuluce, I think we must have same EDD as mine is now 31st too! I have just bought a couple of sleepsuits...thanks Ginger for the links (went a bit mad on some maternity wear as well but couldn't resist the duo christmas sleepsuits that say mummy's little pudding! Figured it would be fine for boy or girl! What I have also done is send an email to all my friends and family who've had kids to see what they can give/lend me. They've all come back with loads!

One of my friends gave me the neals yard mothers balm which I'm using. Didn't like the smell at first but I seem to have got used to it now and it really helps the itchy skin!

Good luck to all those having scans next week!

gingerbreadmam · 09/05/2015 11:47

sparkles i think they were the only unisex christmas thing i didnt get. theyre completely gorgeous! eeekkk how exciting. i know i shouldnt do this but christmas is going to be so amazing this year with our first child Grin

did you get maternity things from next? i need some more. i stupidly thought id get thru with a couple of maxi dresses and 2 pairs of leggings. well the weather is not going to allow for that. every time im off work i prey i wake up to sun haha!

Cineraria · 09/05/2015 13:31

More nervous than excited, Mountain, (the first time I was pregnant, we had bad news at our twelve week scan, so they all seem scary now) but really keen to see the baby again, especially now that I've started feeling some movements. I wish I had a window in my tummy so we could see what s/he is up to!

I don't mind whether we find out the baby's sex or not but my husband is really keen to know, so we will ask if they can tell. So far we have been having fun picking a name each week to call the baby that matches with the fruit or veg that is supposed to be the same size and alternating male and female names, e.g. this week the baby is Maximilian Mango and last week was Persephone Pepper, but when we know the sex I think we'll probably call him or her the real name we've picked. Good luck with your scan too.

What a nice friend, Sparkles! It sounds like a great present.

SparklesandBubbles · 09/05/2015 14:56

Cineraria, I know what you mean about wanting a window to see what they are up to inside, especially now not having loads of symptoms so don't feel very preggers. I went for a short run earlier and wondered what it must be feeling jogging up and down too!

Ginger, yes I've ordered some stuff from next. A friend lent me some maternity jeans she had which are comfy but fall down a lot so I thought it might be a good idea o get a new pair. Have also ordered some black trousers which I hope will do for work. I wear dresses a lot but sometimes just want to wear trousers and we can't wear jeans at work. I got some over the bump leggings as well. There were also a couple of pretty tops in the sale so thought I might as well get them as they were pretty cheap.

gingerbreadmam · 09/05/2015 22:43

i got the next over bump leggings theyre soooo comfy and really shape your bump nicely.

think i need another pair of jeans or some of those jogger type pants as i find jeans uncomfortable most of the time.

would be nice to have a window wouldnt it. gues when the movements start its kind of like a window.

Stinkersmum · 09/05/2015 22:55

Yes it would ginger. My placenta is anterior which could mean I don't feel movement as soon as I usually would. Has anyone here around the 17 week mark felt anything yet?

Superexcited · 09/05/2015 23:05

stinkers I am 17+3 and I have been feeling movement for about 10 days. I can feel movement most days but didn't feel anything yesterday which had me a little worried but I have felt movement on quite a few occasions today so I am reassured now Smile. It is 3rd baby for me and they do say that movement is usually felt earlier if it isn't the first baby. With my first baby i think I was about 18 weeks when I first felt movement.

I am getting bigger now and looking more obviously pregnant. I have lots of non maternity tops which should last me a good few months yet but I have invested in a pair of over bump jeans, 2 pairs of over bump leggings and a pair of black over bump trousers. It still feels like I have nothing to wear though as my usual wardrobe has far too many clothes and I am usually spoilt for choice.

DH has been trying to convince me to go baby shopping today as he thinks we should have most things within the next 8 weeks. He keeps reminding me that I had water retention with dc1 and didn't want to do any shopping after 34 weeks. I am trying to hold out until the 20 week scan before I buy anything else.

Cineraria · 10/05/2015 10:47

I have anterior placenta too, Stinkers. I didn't feel anything that might have been the baby until the second half of week 18. Even now (20 weeks) the movements usually aren't very distinct. This morning though, I had a huge, loud stomach rumble and the poor baby seemed to jump out of his/her skin at the noise!

Clever of you to have non maternity clothes that will still work during pregnancy, Super. My wardrobe consisted entirely of things that were very fitted between bust and hips (I'm very hourglass shaped and look a complete pudding in clothes that aren't fitted below my bust), so most of my wardrobe was useless as soon as indigestion gave me a sore swollen stomach at six weeks. Apart from cardigans and socks, the only two pre-pregnancy clothes I have kept out are a cropped jacket and a bias cut empire dress. I have made four dresses now and have two more cut out ready to sew, so have only needed to buy low rise knickers, giant bras (30H!) and pyjama tops with properly sized, cotton-lined soft bras inside from Bravissimo. Can't rate the pyjama tops highly enough. They are amazing and well worth the money! I had cotton sleep bras before but the sizing and support was rubbish and the only sleep bras I could see in my size were synthetic fabrics, which I thought might be sweaty to sleep in.

Superexcited · 10/05/2015 11:19

cinereria I have loads of stretchy fabrics and I can sew but I haven't found any maternity patterns that I like enough to inspire me to sew. Well done to you for making some stuff, I wish I could find some of your motivation.
That's a real bummer about the bras as I would imagine that you could go through a few different sizes throughout the pregnancy and then another size for nursing if you plan to breast feed, it will cost you a small fortune. I am really lucky to be small of nork (usually a 32c) so I have been able to get some maternity bras from primark at £7 for a pack of two. They have clip down breast cups so I should be able to buy the same ones for nursing.

AnnaBegins · 10/05/2015 13:55

Cineraria I'm going to the baby show at NEC on the Sunday, if you're going that day would love to meet up!

We went pushchair shopping this week, I think we've decided on the Quinny buzz, that way we can use the carry cot from SIL. Just need to find a decent price, Toys r us have a great offer for the black one with car seat but I want the teal maxi cosi car seat even if DH insists on the black buggy. So that's my plan for the baby show, discount hunting!

In other news I have bought fabric for a cot quilt and some hungry caterpillar cushions, now just need to motivate myself to make them!

gingerbreadmam · 10/05/2015 18:12

ooh my friend had hungry caterpilla nursery, was lovely. good choice.

can i ask a quick question - are people still taking folic acid? just realised i have one left and not sure whether i need another prescription or not. thanks.

batfish · 10/05/2015 20:07

Ah I saw the cutest hungry caterpillar babygro on the boots website yesterday!

I am still taking folic acid but only because I've got pregnancy vitamins left and I want to keep taking them because my diet is pretty shit at the moment (Chinese for dinner last night and leftover Chinese for dinner tonight). I don't think we need to still be taking it.

Stinkersmum · 10/05/2015 20:10

ginger not necessary after 12 weeks according to my obs. Professor.

batfish · 10/05/2015 20:13

Was just reading through the general pregnancy board and there are posts from brand new pregnant people - suddenly feeling a little freaked out that I'm nearly halfway there and in the not too distant future I'll be having an actual baby! Oh my bloody God!

mountainofdreams · 10/05/2015 20:15

ginger I'm still taking my pregnacare max vitamins, I don't think it's necessary but I feel better for taking them!Grin

Has anyone gone to the Asda baby event this week?
I couldn't help picking up nappies, maternity pads, breast pads and orthodontic soothers.
Such good value! Smile

Stinkersmum · 10/05/2015 20:15

Lol batfish, I thought that the other day when I saw a Jan 2016 baby bus thread!

mountainofdreams · 10/05/2015 20:19

batfish I feel exactly the same!
I'm halfway on Thursday and really beginning to feel the countdown with so much to do!
Scary! Grin

gingerbreadmam · 10/05/2015 20:43

thank you. i was prescribed the 5mg by midwife due to bmi and didnt know what to do.

batfish its scary isnt it. i downloaded the emma's diary app today which said im in the 17th wk of pregnancy and i thought gosh thats almost halfway through. before long we'll be two thirds. exciting but scary as! good job we have the excitement of all the buying to distract us.

mountain im holding off now until the 20wk scan i think. i have finally looked at my emmas diary mag tonite and got lots of vouchers filled in and freebies to collect wohoo!

Ladypug · 10/05/2015 21:13

I can;t get over it, I'm sure I saw a February thread the other day! I feel like things are going soooo slowly but then I think god, we're nearly halfway there!!! Wow.

ps re folic acid, I asked my midwife this on Friday and she said no need to still take them now

gingerbreadmam · 10/05/2015 21:24

thanks ladypug

SparklesandBubbles · 10/05/2015 21:28

I'm still taking folic acid but that's only because I bought enough pregnancy vitamins for the whole of my pregnancy!! Also I feel happier knowing I'm getting everything baby needs to grow healthy even if I have a rubbish eating day.

What's Emma's Diary? Never heard of it!

Is anyone else getting headaches that won't go away? I'm now 15+1.

Ladypug · 10/05/2015 21:34

OMG headache central here! Plus keep feeling faint and dizzy, especially if I get up too fast or climb stairs quickly! x

Superexcited · 10/05/2015 22:05

I am taking a multivitamin which contains folic acid. The folic acid isn't needed after 12 weeks but vitamin d is recommended to be taken for all of pregnancy and the multi vitamins say they are suitable throughout so I have continued to take them. My midwife told me to take the pregnancy multivitamin instead of folic acid and vitamin d at my booking appointment.

Ca55andraMortmain · 10/05/2015 22:13

Evening everyone. I am most upset to have discovered in the bath tonight that I have stretch marks on my norks Shock!!!! Please tell me someone else has made a similar distressing discovery?! Xx

mountainofdreams · 10/05/2015 22:49

Hi ca55andra ! I don't have any stretch marks but I have to say that pregnancy norks have to be one of the most unattractive sights ever!
My nipples look weird and the area around it is all reddy browny weird looking!!
I know that's normal but still it's so awful looking imo!! Smile
