oh wow stinkers i am jealous! lots of room for lots of lovely baby things how nice! sounds amazing.

yeah my dp whos df is in the building trade thinks his dad will just move us with his van. no way. my dp is not practical at all and it will be a nightmare. i will be getting in removal people. maybe even a cleaner too (not sure why im bothered mind ll dont care much about us!)

Stinkersmum · 07/05/2015 19:12

Good for you ginger. I had the attitude that I'm not ill, I'm pregnant. Actually, bending up and down, packing up, lugging bags, cleaning for the end of our tenancy etc was hard work. We live in a service industry era. Use those services if at all humanly possible!

gingerbreadmam · 07/05/2015 19:20

thanks stinkers you have just made me feel even more justified Grin

Stinkersmum · 07/05/2015 20:40

Do it. I think it's quite justifiable to save some energy whilst you're actually growing another person inside of you! Grin

Hello ladies!

On the subject of buying things we have two Quinny prams, the Buzz with carrycot and the seat and the Zapp (stroller) they have been used on and off for four years now and still look almost new. I would definitely recommend both and the Quinny brand in general. If anyone wants to know anything in particular about them ask away.

About the only thing I am thinking of buying is a poddlepod for baby to nap in during the day at home but I'm not sure whether it is a bit of extravagance. My previous two napped in the carrycot during the day but that did involve bringing it in from the car. It would also be useful to use in our caravan and when visiting family as baby could go on the bed in it. Hmmm! Does anyone have one? We have the bednest for at night but it is about the least portable thing ever.

I have just started knitting Grin I promised myself I wouldn't until my exam was done. A tiny yellow cardigan at the moment. Very excited to find out what we are having, we have two DDs at present. DH has yet to manage to come to a scan and hopefully can make the 20 week one so that will be exciting.

That's about it really, I am on nights from tomorrow, hope everyone else has a lovely weekend.

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 06:39

hey too lovely to hear from you. ooh im very impressed with the knitting. dont think i have anyone knitting for me which is quite odd where i live. managed to pick some lovely knitted cardis up from a table top sale though.

think ive seen the poddle pod, im after the sleepyhead. think theyre similar concepts.

thanks for sharing about the prams. any pram advice is welcome here. been dreaming about prams all night. i cnt decide between a bebecar ipop or easywalker mosey. decisions decisions.

mountainofdreams · 08/05/2015 10:59

Ooh breathless well done on the knitting, my dads wife loves knitting and I'm hoping she knits a few bits for our baby as they look so professional and she can even do little patterns!
I'm not so talented!
Three boxes of waterwipes have just arrived, I hope they last awhile! Smile
gingerbread I so love the bebecar out of your shortlist!
My mum is buying my Bugaboo, she doesn't know anything about prams and she thought she was just paying £850 for a short lived pram.
She had no idea it has a seat unit for a buggy!! Haha, I think I've done so much research that I expect everyone else to know too! Grin

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 11:41

i love the bebecar its the one ive stuck with right from the beginning the price is just more than i thought we'd pay. dps mam is giving us 500 if i can get someone to pay for the carseat (cheeky i know but people will offer as its our first) then we shouldnt have to put too much towards it.

tbh, knowing my dps mam she would pay the full money but id feel bad taking it from her. 500 is already a massively generous gift and is letting us get something more high spec than we could afford if we had to buy it ourselves.

will see what happens.

mountainofdreams · 08/05/2015 12:17

I know what you mean about the car seat!
I'm being cheeky too and have asked dp to secretly hint to his parents that that's what he wants as a baby gift .
I don't feel too bad as they would buy us anything but knowing dp if they asked him he wouldn't know what item to say or what brand we've selected and they would end up buying loads of other random things that I we may not necessarily want or need.
I've already told dp mum what clothes the baby will and will not be wearing and luckily she agrees and is on the same wavelength.
So much more to buy and our flat already looks like a dumping ground!!!

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 13:02

haha mountain i like it. we seem to be on the same wavelength too!

been doing a bit of googling on lunch and found one bebecar for not much over budget. not the one i love but still cute and a bargain. im very tempted but still petrified at this point.

mountainofdreams · 08/05/2015 14:48

Aww are you petrified it's too early?
I'm being naughty and currently on my way to a boots to check out some of the baby event in person!
Speaking of clueless men, my educated dp completely refuses to believe that buying a bath thermometer (I got a combined room and bath one) is a necessary and normal purchase. He thinks it's an unnecessary fad type thing that I'm pretending everyone gets! Haha!
I would so love to hear more clueless partner stories on this thread!

Stinkersmum · 08/05/2015 14:56

My dh thinks that our child will be dressed in camo baby suits when he takes it fishing. Google 'bass pro baby camo' and despair with me if you will.....

Stinkersmum · 08/05/2015 14:57

Or that we can get a comprehensive travel system for less than £300. He's not tight and we are financially comfortable but honestly. Not that he'd think twice on spending twice that on a new shotgun!

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 15:27

your dp sounds like my mam. she would be the first to say we never had thermometres you just test it with your arm which kind of makes sense i spose.

tbh i am leaving all the kind of stuff till the end incase we cant afford it. apart from maybe ewan the dream sheep.

im going to google the camo now. my dp has also suggested we just get the mothercare pram thats 250 even tho his dm has already said she is giving us £500. theres nothing wrong with the mothercare pram btw and ive actually heard great things about it but this is pfb maybe even an only child and i want to push the boat out Grin

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 15:31

hahahaha that has made my day. i google images basspro baby camo warning do not mention this to your dp and alsorts of camo cot bedding came up, clothing everything ha!

btw boots baby event did you say? im off to boots after work for some dkny perfume the new summer ones (cnt remember the name now) can see me coming home with baby stuff insteas Confused

Stinkersmum · 08/05/2015 16:26

ginger my DH dragged me round bass pro for hours when we were in Florida last month. He's seen everything.....

Ca55andraMortmain · 08/05/2015 16:27

Oooh boots baby event! They have the nicest unisex clothes in there for people who aren't finding out the sex or who want to buy before the scan! I've got tonnes from there! Sadly lots of it is a bit summary for our October sprogs though!

mountainofdreams · 08/05/2015 16:28

Yep you did hear right!
I bought loads of Weleda products, orthodontic soothers, a pack of nuby bottles (hopefully I can express feed sometimes!) and also super glamorous maternity pads!! Smile .

Cineraria · 08/05/2015 17:47

Oh, What Weleda products did you get, Mountain? I'd never used their stuff before but just started using their stretch mark oil and it feels so nice and soothing to use on my dry and itchy skin there that I started wondering if their baby stuff would be just as nice. I like plant based oils in preference to mineral ones. Did you pick that range for a particular reason?

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 18:08

ahh i bought the palmers stretch mark stuff any bump rub. i nearly bought those bottles too they were so cheap but i hadnt read anything about them so didnt know it good or not. the latch bottles were cheap too.

stinkers thats funny. camo things really remind me of mamma june off here comes honey booboo she got married in camo Grin

Stinkersmum · 08/05/2015 18:10

Oh good grief!!!!

mountainofdreams · 08/05/2015 18:11

Hi Cineria ! I decided to get it as the brand receives very good reviews on amazon which I use regularly and trust the reviews.
It's also supposed to be really nice on babies skin so I'm buying discounted stocks of these 'good' products before baby eventually has to slum it with Johnsonns! Smile
I usually don't buy anything just in the shops but the boots prices at the moment are just below amazons.
It was nice to do some exciting 'physical' shopping for once!
I got two tubes of the nappy cream, 1 × body lotion, 1 × face cream and 2 × combined shampoo and body wash.
How far along are you and how is your shopping going? Smile

Cineraria · 08/05/2015 19:10

Thanks Mountain. Definitely worth a look, then. I got my oil on Amazon too and was impressed by their reviews. The only few bad reviews I saw seemed to come from people who were not using the product correctly or if the smell wasn't to their taste. Weleda's German I think and I'm sure I've read they have quite strict regulations about herbal products, so I feel I'd trust it for a baby too.

Good idea to stock up while it's cheap as it's not outrageously priced but it is definitely more than average.

I'll be 20 weeks on Sunday but we haven't bought much yet. Our scan is on Tuesday and then we might go to the Baby Show in Birmingham that weekend and start looking there. Are others planning to go? So far the baby only has two knitted blankets from my mum, a half knitted bonnet from me and a pair of tiny white ankle socks with a Welsh dragon on the ankle from my mum's very patriotic Welsh neighbour!

Is the Palmer's nice Ginger? I was thinking of getting their nipple balm as I think a balm consistency would be nicer there than an oil or a cream.

gingerbreadmam · 08/05/2015 19:19

only bought today so not tried will let you know tho. reviews are all good.

im too far from birmingham the show sounds good though.

i have seen a pram at a good price and i am torn over what to do! ive emailed website to see if can return if i would need to and ask if they give discount if buy pram and carseat together. eeekkk! see what they say.

mountainofdreams · 08/05/2015 19:23

Ooh I bet you're looking forward to the scan!
Are you finding out the sex?
My scan is Friday which I'm excited about, we were already told it's probably a girl so this will be our confirmation hopefully!! Smile
