anyone with a smyths near them, they have 20% off all baby things this wkend.

mountainofdreams · 01/05/2015 08:30

Ooh I do! I wonder if that chicco crib will be in it and if they sell with discount online. Otherwise I'll get the bus there! Ps the Philips thermometer, fisher price rainforest gym and tommee tippee nappy bin are on fab discount on amazon today. Glued to that site!!!

gingerbreadmam · 01/05/2015 08:55

oh i was just looking at that gym will have a quick look. the jumperoo is on a good price on smyths i want one for baby for christmas.

are the groweggs thermometers good? want one of those too i think.

gingerbreadmam · 01/05/2015 08:55

sorry mountain the discount is online too.

mountainofdreams · 01/05/2015 09:17

Gingerbread I was looking at the gro egg too but the Philips works for bath and babys room and seems to have similar or better reviews so think I will chance that one.
Just looked at the Smyths website, don't think they have the crib just a load of Clevamama things!

gingerbreadmam · 01/05/2015 10:45

i like the look of the clevamamma stuff. might have to do a bit of research.

they have a cot with free mattress for like £80! might have to take a look at that.

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 07:26

well thats it we now have a bouncer. feel like ive opened a door and now i just want to buy everything.

is anyone else sick of hearing their own heartbeat?

Superexcited · 02/05/2015 08:47

I had my midwife appointment yesterday and got to listen to the baby's heartbeat. I wasn't expecting to be able to listen because I know a lot of areas no longer use dopplers at the midwife appointments. I was so happy when the midwife said "we'll do your blood pressure and then the exciting bit and have a listen". The heartbeat was very clear and the midwife said it sounded very strong.
I don't have another midwife appointment until I am 28 weeks pregnant which seems a very long time, but the midwife did say that if I wanted to have a listen in between or wanted to see her for anything to just ring up and they will slot me in. Apparently if it is your first baby you should be offered an appointment at 24 weeks as well as 28 weeks, but this is not my first.

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 09:40

oh she sounds lovely! nice to have the option.

im on my first dc so am back at 25 wks seems so far away im not really bothered though havent really struck up a good rapport with my midwife tbh they seem so busy!

gaggiagirl · 02/05/2015 09:51

gingerbread I love that you have opened the door to baby buying!Grin

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 10:09

haha me too! i had bought some sleepsuits and cardis but that was all (oh and some blue dumies Shock )

now i have this though im sat thinking ooh what else can i buy.

on another note i have got goddam lightning boob again today on the other boob ouchy!

Ladypug · 02/05/2015 10:29

I can hear my heartbeat constantly too! What's that about?! I didn't know if it was normal! X

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 11:48

yeah its something to do with your body pumping more blood or something.

if you wear something tight and lay down and watch your tummy that might look like it is beating. i got excited the other day and thought it was the baby but nope that again is just the blood puming thing too.

mountainofdreams · 02/05/2015 13:30

Ooh exciting Gingerbread, what bouncer did you go for?
Once you start buying it's definitely hard to stop!!
I'm currently on the sofa with a pile of purchases on the chaise longue!
Leses than two weeks until I find out if it's definitely a girl! !

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 13:35

ooh not long. bet you cant wait. oooh youre doing good with the purchases and have jus reminded me to have a look on amazon.

well i wanted the fisher price rainforest rocker infant to toddler but do saw the price and said no. they had a bright starts one for £20 so weve ended up with that one.

i just keep thinking be christmas not long after theyre born and im hoping one of the dgp's will buy a jumperoo so dont spose it needs a rocker chair really.

mountainofdreams · 02/05/2015 13:50

I'm really looking forward to finding out but more excited to see little baby and all it's features!
Dp thinks I'm mad with all my purchases but I don't feel too bad about being assertive as he's quite disorganised.
I'm going to try not buy anything for another couple of weeks as maybe by that stage one of the grandparents will come forward with suggestions of what they might want to buy as their all super generous!

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 14:05

thats what im waiting on grandparents saying what theyre buying.

dps dm has already offered a substantial amount for the pram. my dps will buy something but they havent said what yet and dps df is also generous so imagine theyll be an offer there too.

yes its nice just seeing that everything is ok and progressing nicely. wont buy much else now until after next scan as i think next priorities will be bedding etc and i think will have more choice when know the sex.

mountainofdreams · 02/05/2015 14:16

That's good you have supportive family!
My dp mother wants to throw me a baby shower, it should be funny as she has never been to one (neither have I) and she keeps asking my advice on what it should be like!!

In terms of bedding I'm really interested in the grobag sleeping bags.
I also love the Tuppence and Crumble star blanket for use in the pram or car seat! Smile

gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 15:35

ooh sounds nice. i dont know that the situation is with grobags i didnt think you could use them for newborns but i think it depends what they weigh.

the blanket looks lovely.

yes were very lucky. weve been saving too but not in a position to save lots plus we will have to move as soon as we can justhavetofindsomewheresuitable

mountainofdreams · 02/05/2015 15:42

I was thinking of swaddling and then grobags.

Were also looking to buy a larger property and it's definitely easier said than done! !!

Theboxtrollsareallowed · 02/05/2015 17:07

Hi ladies, have not posted for ages but just wanted to hop back on board. I am 16 & a bit weeks now, but getting anxious again if everything is ok - I can't feel movement yet so I guess it's just a waiting game for the scan.

How is everyone?

Toast85 · 02/05/2015 17:29

I don't think I'm going to allow myself to buy anything more substantial than the odd vest or sleepsuit until we've sorted out baby's room- it's full of junk at the moment and no room for anything to go in there. I'm also not sure I feel ready to make substantial purchases yet anyway, there's so much choice and I want to make sure that what we buy is really necessary, surely a newborn doesn't need that much stuff?! Wink

Still undecided about finding out the sex- I am starting to like the idea of a surprise (after being firmly in the finding out camp initially) but DH wants to know still. I don't want anything too girly/boyish in terms of decoration, bedding etc anyway, as would like to be able to re-use for number 2 if needed.

Hope you're all having a good Saturday

Toast85 · 02/05/2015 17:31

Boxtrolls I'm 16 weeks today and no movements yet- keep wondering if i'm feeling something but not at all convinced- I think it's usually digestion/gas!!

OP posts:
gingerbreadmam · 02/05/2015 18:02

i know its tough trying to factor moving into all the baby stuff too!

i like the swaddling blankets and will get one of those.

toast all my things are at my dms as there is no room for them here. ive ended up puttinf the bouncer up as i was ju so excited haha!

i am quite anxious again now. its a funny stage to be at when uv found out everything is ok but still cnt feel anything. mn is a great place for support but sometimes its scary as heck. wont go into detail but i saw a very sad thread the other day and it really put my anxiety into overdrive. im now trying to avoid them which is a shame as i would love to offer support but i think because of my mmc, for me, they are best staying away from throughout this pregnancy.

mountainofdreams · 02/05/2015 18:22

boxtrolls and toast I'm over 18 weeks and definitely can't feel kicks. I keep thinking I can feel movement but it's hard to know whats what when the baby is still so small!

ginger I also couldn't resist taking my bouncer out of the box, I'm in love with all my baby purchases.
I will probably be sick of the baby stuff by the time baby is here!! Smile
