I'm really enjoying the not knowing what it's going to be thing! We have names sorted for both and really don't mind what we have plus I have a pathological hatred of the colour pink so would much rather have neutral colours, or indeed other colours if we have a girl. It really frustrates me that pink has taken over the colour spectrum for little girls clothes when there are so many other colours out there!!

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 11:44

Somebody please teach me some restraint!!
I have been out this morning to do some baby 'window shopping' and come back home with a pram Blush
I had forbidden DH to buy anything other than small items of clothing or bedding until after the 20 week scan and now I have bought a pram, car seat and all the bits that go with it.
I think I am going to have to blame this on pregnancy hormones and the excitement of seeing the exact pram that I wanted with £200 off the price.
Now I just have to find somewhere to store it as we haven't got around to clearing the spare bedroom yet.

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 11:45

I'm not superstitious BTW, but I am only 16 weeks pregnant so wanted to wait a while before buying anything major.

batfish · 28/04/2015 13:03

I would never be able to find out and keep it to myself - would go mad with clothes and would want to show friends what I'd bought Grin And no I guess they can't force me to have lots of scans but I like them, feels like an eternity between them and I have no idea how I would cope with only 2!

batfish · 28/04/2015 13:06

Haha super love your purchasing! We have also bought pram etc as we came back to the UK for a week 2 weeks ago and things are cheaper there and with more choice. I don't want to go mad with everything this early but it made financial sense and we've left it all in boxes, I am also not particularly superstitious so I don't worry that something will go wrong just because I've got a couple of boxes in the corner of the spare room. But I know some people are - a friend was horrified and offered to store it for me as couldn't understand why I was OK having it in the house. I also thought that if anything were to go wrong then it can easily be put away and forgotten about.

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 13:10

tell me about your prams. excellent purchases.

tbh and i know it happens but the thought of anything bad being discovered at 20 wk scan doesnt bare thinking about so if prefer to jus kp my head in the sand.

ive bought bits of clothes so far but thats all only because i want to know what im having. ive picked a pram but need more info on it. my dm td me to put a deposit down but ice managed to control myself so far.

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 13:36

I bought the Jane epic pushchair with formula carrycot and koos car seat. I saw this one on line a few weeks back and the reviews on it are excellent, the chassis is big and sturdy but folds to one of the smallest sizes on the market and the car seat is award winning but one of the lightest on the market (which as I discovered with dc1&dc2 is very important). I had to drive 20 miles to look at it in the shop as that is our nearest Jane stockist. They had the exact colour I wanted in stock and had reduced it as the new colours are coming out in the next few weeks. I reasoned that it would be silly to leave it and drive back in 4 weeks only to discover that there were no more in stock (I didn't take much convincing) Grin.
I did have enough restraint not to stop at McDonald's for a milkshake on the way home though, so all restraint is not lost.

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 13:40

batfish we are going to find out the sex because dc2 is desperate to know and most of the clothes in the shop seem to be gender specific. I didnt find out the sex with dc1 and dc2 as I wanted a surprise but there was a lot more neutral clothes back then too (over a decade ago).

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 13:40

super how strange. pregnant friend and i went to look at prams last week. this was the one she was interested in. in the shop we went in they had one on display that was hugely reduced due to new colours being due out. friend has her heart set on it too! i liked it and im sure my dn had a jane which was fab. the pram shop had lots of good things to say about it too. good choice and bargain too, even better!

i am absolutely in love with the bebecar stylo but scared im going to make a hugggeee mistake.

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 13:47

The bebecar stylo is a lovely looking pram and if I didn't drive much it might have been on my list but my car only has a small boot and the bebecar wouldn't fit in even if the boot was empty. I do love traditional looking prams like the bebecar.

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 14:04

i have a focus so decent boot but i am worried i will get sick of carting it around.

i live in a small market town and as i need to loose weight already think it would be a good incentive to walk lots but its october the weathers going to be pants is that just a nice idea?

Twinkletoes007 · 28/04/2015 14:16

Thanks Sparkles x

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 14:20

gingerbread if you really love the bebecar then go to the shop and get them to try it in your car boot and see how it fits, you will be surprised at how difficult it is to fit a pram in a boot that seems to be fairly big. Have a go at folding it and lifting it in and out of the car yourself so that you can get an idea of how heavy it is going to feel.

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 14:26

never really occurred to me to do that think i will give it a go (and probably put myself off Grin). thanks for the suggestion.

mountainofdreams · 28/04/2015 17:37

Loving all this pram chat!
Gingerbread I never heard of the Bebe car, I just googled it and it's sooooo cute!!!
I'm going to get the Bugaboo Cameleon Classic in navy, it's so precious but going to hold off a few weeks to buy.
However I did buy a carrier, bouncer and Lamaze toy this week all with big discounts.

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 18:07

aww thanks i do love it but definitely need to test the putting up,down and in the car stuff.

i really liked a mothercare pram that was out last year in navy blue but theyve stopped selling it now.

great news on the bargains! think its good picking stuff up whilst cheap. ive been eyeing up nursery furniture today. so expensive i think ive just decided on a white cot, malm drawers from ikea and their cheap white wardrobe.

mountainofdreams · 28/04/2015 18:16

That's what I did before making my final decision.
I folded it, took off the carrycot, lifted it in Mothercare to ensure can carry it myself!
Yeah it's crazy how expensive things are and thecdiscounts you can get on them, Amazon is my friend! !! Smile

Ladypug · 28/04/2015 18:20

Hi everyone, I feel bamboozled with the pram and nursery stuff, keep it coming so I know what's good and what isn't. I went to mothercare last week and felt freaked out and overwhelmed by the choice!

mountainofdreams · 28/04/2015 18:33

Hi Ladypug how far along are you?
Choosingproducts you want is more about your needs and your budget as opposed to what others think is good.
I read tonnes of reviews and researched info on everything, once I thought I knew what I wanted I started looking at in person.
Once you know what you want I started (only this week) going on Amazon.
They have what are called 'lightning deals' on a few baby products every day which equate to big savings.
This week I already bought three items on my list on a lightning deal and have saved £61.50.
Obviously some of the daily deals are not on my list so I am developing my willnpower by not buying them! !! Smile

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 18:38

ooh i must sign up to these lightening deals.

spotted a cot on argos and its a few quid cheaper on amazon as if the cot top changer so definitely pays to shop around. might only save a tenner but it my case thats a couple of fitted sheets or whatever.

what matress should baby have, i am definitely clueless on that front Confused

mountainofdreams · 28/04/2015 18:45

Gingerbread if you have an amazon account or the tablet app you can view them in the 'todays deals' section.
Once you click on that they show lightening deals in one category. They only last for a few hours but it will tell you what ones are coming up so you can prepare yourself to log on at that time!
I know I probably sound like a weirdo stalking these deals but honestly as much money as I may or may not have I would like to hold on to it where possible!!!

I'm getting the Chicco next to me crib which comes with a mattress but I think the general rule is buy a new one and whatever you can afford (where these deals help!!). Smile

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 18:56

i had a quick look. tempted by the tommee tippee and mum bottles. hopeing to breastfeed tho so again dont know what i do or dont need.

i am hoping for the next to me until they go into their own room too. not quite sure where we'll be living but another idea to save money if room is big enough is just normal cot with sleepyhead inside. im just a bit dubious over how safe they are especially with the recent bednest article.

saving money at this stage is key i think theres so many big things to buy that it can easily all add up.

mountainofdreams · 28/04/2015 19:12

Yeah so was I and I also fully intend to bf!
Though at my last scan (16+6) I was told it's probably a girl so I might wait for the girlier or more neutral colours to go on offer!

That bednest story was so shocking.
I still feel happy buying the next to me as if the baby was napping out of my sight I would put the side up.
I don't think the baby in the bednest had the sides up which allowed them to move in to a dangerous position?

I'm also definitely getting a monitor with soubd, video (linked to the tv) and sensor mat!

Superexcited · 28/04/2015 19:15

The shop where I got the pram had the Chicco next to me for £120 which is the cheapest I have seen it for so far.

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 19:21

it does sound like the issue was with the side being down.

oh they think its a girl? lovely will you get it confirmed at your 20 week scan?

im convinced im having a boy even bought some blue dummies could end up with a little tomboy here. only 5 weeks tomorrow and will know if they were a good or bad buy Smile
