dont want to buy loads as i know other people will too and dont really want waste. it is first gc on dps side and altho my dps have gc i only have db's so as my dm keeps telling me its a bit different. wow that is a lot of abbreviations Grin

Nutellalover14 · 25/04/2015 08:44

Hi Ladies, Had my scan yesterday, everything went well. EDD 28th October Smile Amazing how you can see so much when they are moving around. He/She was misbehaving a little and couldn't get the measurement at the Neck, so will need to go for a Blood Screening this week. Anyone else had this? Apart from that, all good. x

Superexcited · 25/04/2015 09:36

gingerbread you are right in that lots of people will buy clothing as gifts but they tend to buy (in my experience) proper outfits so you should be safe getting sleep suits and vests. Babies grow so quickly that you don't want to buy heaps but it's nice to have just enough so that the washing machine isn't constantly on.

Nutella my baby kept moving on the scan and the sonographer struggled to get measurements but she persevered and just about managed but it did take twice as long as a scan usually would. I hope they manage to get everything required next time you go back.

mountainofdreams · 25/04/2015 10:39

Hi Poppy thanks for the response!
Is this your first?
It's my first so I'm guessing I might go overdue!
I've also been breathless, it's such a pain!
Have you started purchasing yet?
I had a scan at 16 + 6 and they think it's a girl, waiting for the next scan before I buy girls clothes though!

gingerbreadmam · 25/04/2015 10:41

nutella mine moved too much at first scan so i had to go back a few days later. i ended up with a 1 in 29000 chance when finally done at the next scan. was still wriggiling all over at that one.

thank you. will bare all that in mind.

toobreathless · 26/04/2015 13:47

Hello all!

I am def feeling movement at almost 16 weeks, but this is my third baby in 4 years!

We told our two girls this weekend, they are only just 2 & 4. The tiny one has no idea but the big one keeps checking 'is there still a baby in your tummy??' She wants another sister... I have tried to explain the lack of choice surrounding the matter.

Anyone else here with a bigger family? This is DC3 for us as I said but I think 4 sounds like a good number Grin I am relatively young (31) so we will see!

This baby will be wearing only sleep suits and vests and living in a sling for the first few months. Worked very well for the other two and let's me carry on pretty much as normal.

WRT clothing my advice would be to NOT wash everything you buy & keep receipts then if baby is big/ you get loads of presents you can take your things back. Shops are generally very good at letting you return things and I got the full value on a gift card about 6 months later even though it had been in the sale since as I could prove I had paid full price.

Poppytime · 26/04/2015 17:05

Hi Mountain - no it's my second but I still feel like I have forgotten birth/newborn stage! I thought I would go overdue too but my waters actually broke on on my due date and had DD the next day so doesn't always happen that way! Haven't bought anything yet as have a lot of stuff from DD, will really only need a few boyish clothes if we find out it's a boy - 3 weeks to go! With DD I think we started looking at prams about this time though - but actually bought stuff after the 20 week scan.

Poppytime · 26/04/2015 17:07

Toobreathless that's sweet re your DD checking Smile - I am jealous of you feeling movements! I am 17+2 and nothing yet. I can't remember exactly with DD but was definitely feeling something by 20/21 weeks. And my placenta was at the front whereas apparently it's at the back now according to 12 week scan.

gingerbreadmam · 26/04/2015 17:11

thanks for the advice. i think im going to wait till 20wk scan get a few more sleepsuits and leave clothes there. i might get a nice outfit i love but thats all as ive got a huge family and know we'll get silly amounts.

ive already received a beautiful present from a work colleague whoch was very very kind and generous and that was just on announcing the news.

this is my first but i come from a big family, have 4 siblings and confirm it is lovely.

think i have picked my pram but wont be purchasing until after next scan.

batfish · 26/04/2015 17:40

I'm not sure if I felt something today - felt like a few twitches in the baby area - but feel like it would be too early yet as I am 16+2 - 17 weeks (still not believing new 17 week date) - not sure what else it would have been though.

Girl at work is 35 weeks and looked like she was in agony all day the poor thing, baby kicking her in the ribs! Doesn't look fun at that stage!

gingerbreadmam · 27/04/2015 17:19

wow batfish 17wks? i bet it was the baby.

dont know if ive missed it but have you found out the sex or do you intend to?

my dp has just told me for about the 5th time in the last 10 days im gettinf fat. really not appreciated. shot himself in the foot tho as i am now insisting on a healthy tea and walked out of the house to get some exercise in protest ha!

SparklesandBubbles · 27/04/2015 18:34

Ginger, good on you for getting out and getting some fresh air. It's not nice when people say you've put on weight...you are suppose to in pregnancy and as far as I can tell everyone is different. I've put on quite a bit in my first 3 months but seem to have levelled out a bit the last couple of weeks.
I got our blood screening results back today which says low risk, so that's a relief. It says 1 in 1500 (have no idea about the other numbers!). I have been called in to see a consultant though on Friday, think it might have something to do with the fact I only have one kidney, hope it's nothing other than routine/ precautionary!

batfish · 27/04/2015 18:34

No we are not going to find out the sex although it's going to be very hard! We get loads of scans here so we have to say no so many times! Had a little look at some clothes today and the choice for neutral is pretty crap whereas there were such cute boy or girl things. Are you finding out?

Wow your hubby is brave....maybe he needs to be sat down and told that contrary to popular belief pregnant women don't suddenly find it easier to hear that they've put weight on and it isn't something you should have to be worried about at the moment!

Toast85 · 27/04/2015 18:38

Anymore twitches bat?
I'm worried about my belly button! I used to have a really deep 'inny'- it used to be all safely burrowed in my belly- but now it's all stretched out and I'm scared it won't be long before it's an 'outy'! Shock

OP posts:
batfish · 27/04/2015 18:47

No I don't think I've noticed anything today toast - I bet when we start to feel things a lot of the times it happens and we don't even notice - yesterday I was sitting quite still in my chair at work but I don't think I would have noticed if I had been walking or moving around.

Eeeekk an outy belly button worries me! I've still got my piercing in, need to make sure I take that out at a sensible time!

gingerbreadmam · 27/04/2015 19:12

tbh, i am already over weight and i feel like ive only expanded around my middle which is the area he keeps commenting on and the area that is actually supposed to grow.

spose good in a way tho as i had all intentions to start swimming once i knew everything was ok after dating scan and still havent so i have now ordered my new cossie and will definitely go on sunday to prove a point if nothing else Grin

ooh it will be tough not finding out, make those last few weeks even more exciting though wondering whether it is a ds or dd on their way.

i arent strong enough and really want to buy blues or girls so im counting down to next scan. dying to go proper shopping too Grin

gingerbreadmam · 27/04/2015 19:15

i obviously meant blues or pinks. i have found the unisex section very limited too and think even the unisex stuff can verge on boy-ish or girly.

batfish · 27/04/2015 19:20

When we came back to UK for a visit family had bought us a few bits of clothes which were lovely - a couple from a range in Boots which were grey and mint green with elephants on and then some other cream and grey things. But it is just rare that a see a unisex item and think it is soooo cute - whereas some of the boy and girl things are impossible to leave in the shop!

gingerbreadmam · 27/04/2015 19:47

i saw the elephant stuff the other day and loved it. was tempted to buy it!

morrisons and asda both have some lovely white and grey bits on too and i think mothercare and mammas and pappas do a small range it is hard though.

i am 100% convinced i am having a boy so if it is a girl i will be hugely shocked!

Toast85 · 27/04/2015 20:21

Ooh yep I like the boots range of unisex stuff too. But I agree I'm not usually excited by most of the unisex ranges.
I think we're going to find out the sex- I feel like pregnancy and birth are so full of the unknown that I just want one thing to hold onto! Trouble is, I'm sure once we find out I will spend the next 20 weeks worrying that they got it wrong anyway, too scared to buy anything 'girlie' or 'boyish' just in case!

OP posts:
gingerbreadmam · 27/04/2015 20:38

there is always that worry toast. i assume if they say boy it is unlikely to be wrong i guess if its a girl theres more chance they could have it wrong.

im sure those cases are few and far between though. hopefully!

batfish · 28/04/2015 07:47

Hubby last night said that he has been having feelings that he might want to find out! I'm trying to stick to the plan and not find out. I know what he means though as I am SO curious and would love to buy boy or girl stuff - but I kind of like the not knowing and having to choose names for both and the thought of being able to announce what we've had. I said to him in the UK it would be easier as we would have 20 week scan, say no and that would be that - I am about to have my 4th scan on Saturday and will only be 17 weeks and they've already tried to tell us once! God knows how many more times we will have to say don't tell us!

gingerbreadmam · 28/04/2015 07:57

could you find out for your benefits and not share the news? least that way you still get the nice announcement at the end.

were really struggling with names so ill be glad to be able to whittle that down straight away.

Twinkletoes007 · 28/04/2015 08:08

Ladies any tips for telling your boss you're pregnant? I'm 16 weeks Friday so think this has got to be the week. I'm SO scared!l especially as a few weeks back I was promised a promotion in the summer. Now wondering whether that will be reneged on. X

SparklesandBubbles · 28/04/2015 08:29

Twinkle
If you were promised a promotion this summer try and get it in writing before you tell them you are pregnant. In theory it shouldn't make any difference but if you have something in writing you have evidence to go on of they muck you around. Luckily my work have been pretty good, I told them after my 12 week scan but I wasn't due a promotion or anything.

We have decided not to find out what we're having. Definitely want a surprise..DH is quite keen for a boy though. batfish, it must be hard with all those scans..do you have to go to all of them? Although it must be quite nice seeing baby develop.
Loving your top tips on baby clothes. Haven't even thought about buying anything yet! But took a peek at the boots stuff you guys were talking about and it looks really cute.
