Hello all! Also just catching up! Carrying on the when we told theme - we told my parents and PIL at about 8 weeks after an early reassurance scan. Also told best friend as am a bridesmaid at her wedding and she was buying our dresses so thought only fair to give her a heads up! Told boss at 13 weeks, and a friend or two since. Other people I will just tell them as I see them, I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and bump is starting to become obvious (and it's my second). I'm not one for facebook announcements so won't be posting there - but I know some people like yo

Poppytime · 23/04/2015 05:46

Oops toddler pressing post! I meant I know some people like to.

Haven't had heartburn this time yet, got it later on, ah the joys of pregnancy!

Ladypug · 23/04/2015 07:53

We told parents and friends at 13 weeks after scan. Only told 2 close girlfriends early for reassurance and questioning as both have been pregnant. Not planning to do facebook as just not my thing. X

gingerbreadmam · 23/04/2015 09:04

has anyone due with their first felt any movements yet?

i felt like a flick in my tummy yesterday and wondered if that was a movement Grin

gingerbreadmam · 23/04/2015 09:04

oh im round about about 15wks btw.

Fabuluce · 23/04/2015 09:22

I'm quite a ways away from feeling them as I'm only 13 weeks on Saturday but I have such a windy tum I'm not sure I'd know the difference until I can see my tummy moving ????

batfish · 23/04/2015 10:29

I had a feeling which I wondered whether it could be baby but I'm only 16 weeks with my first so don't expect I would feel anything yet. It was just a really weird little sharp slight pain very low down and it really did feel like something had poked me from inside.

gingerbreadmam · 23/04/2015 10:35

ooh interesting,i wonder whether it was then. i know the midwife mentioned at my scan that the placenta was in position that meant i might feel things early as it was either underneath or behind the baby.

SparklesandBubbles · 23/04/2015 10:57

I've not felt anything yet but like Fab am still early (also 13 wks on Saturday). Have got bad morning sickness today though...feeling rubbish. Those who are further on, do you suddenly start feeling better?

Superexcited · 23/04/2015 11:43

I'm 15 weeks and haven't felt anything yet (or anything that I can be certain is baby and not just wind etc). I felt movement around 18 weeks with my first two babies so I probably have a few weeks to go yet.

WRT announcements: we told a few close people after an early 8 week reassurance scan and then told more people after my dating scan at 13 weeks. We are not doing a facebook or any other social media announcement as it just isn't our thing and we think that the people who need to know will see us in person and we will tell them then.

If anybody is considering buying a bednest then you might want to check safety updates first.

gingerbreadmam · 23/04/2015 12:55

i didnt have bad morning sickness. jsut felt sick a lot of the time but yes after 13wks i just suddenly felt much better. tiredness has waned, i feel better in myself and the sickness has completely gone.

do wake with headaches tho but apart from that growing tummy and awareness something is in there i could easily forget i was pregnant right now. until a knock a nipple that is lol!

Toast85 · 23/04/2015 19:18

Sad story that is about the bednest.

The daily info bit on my pregnancy plus app today is about maternity sportswear... LOL... Sports?? You've got to be joking... Making it up 2 flights of stairs without fainting is exercise enough thanks.

Oh and my placenta is anterior so I guess I won't be feeling movements until quite late. I've felt plenty of wind though, that counts, right?!

Stinkersmum · 23/04/2015 23:04

Does anyone else get extremely uncomfortable after eating? Whether it's a snack or full meal, I'm completely unable to get comfortable. It's making me so miserable. It's not heartburn. It feels as though my intestines are blocked or something Sad

SparklesandBubbles · 24/04/2015 00:30

Stinkers, I have noticed that I just can't eat what I used to which is frustrating, especially when you are hungry. Ive not been super uncomfortable though.
I've had such a bad day today, probably the worst I've had. Slept until 1pm because if I moved I thought I was going to throw up Sad. Probably why I'm still awake now!
Toast, I know what you mean about sport. I used to be super sporty and since being pregnant have managed about 4 runs in 12 weeks! I'm trying to walk up escalators but get so out of breath! The Pilates I did was good though and I'm going to try and do it every week as I think it'll. be helpful later on.

batfish · 24/04/2015 07:46

I am unfortunately not having any problem with eating, I'm managing to get shit loads of calories in. Most of them unhealthy ones.

I'm trialling a tight top today, I am worried I just look like someone who is a weird shape and has a bloated tummy but hubby seems to think I look like a legit preggo lady. Probably going to be spending the day sucking in and holding things in front of my belly! Seeing friends later and I don't like fuss and being centre of attention so I'm already worrying about them all making a fuss of the KFC belly 'bump'

scatterbrainedlass · 24/04/2015 10:09

Sparkles, it does get better, promise! A few days before 14 weeks I suddenly felt better, sickness died down and I feel more energetic than I did.

I can't eat as much as I used to in one meal, I feel really full and uncomfortable even eating less than normal. I snack a lot more though, so I'm probably eating about the same, just spread out over the day.

gingerbreadmam · 24/04/2015 11:22

ive had two tummy rubs in the past week. i have a definitie (fat) bump made even more bump like if i put maternity jeans on. i quite like it do far, feel like i can actually enjoy being fat for once Grin (i know i intend to do something once and for all when this little one arrives).

im going vest shopping at dinnertime, over 15 weeks now and had an increment at work so thought i would spend it wisely. what vests are people buying for our october babies? a mixture? is it safe to say with first child that newborn is the best size to get?

mountainofdreams · 24/04/2015 20:00

Hi Ladies!
I hope you don't mind me joining!
I'm just about October with a due date of the 1st.
I have been really lucky so far but feeling really exhausted tonight.
How is everyone else feeling? Smile

Poppytime · 25/04/2015 04:35

Hi Ginger, my DD was born end of August and I got a mixture of short sleeved and long sleeved vests, maybe 5 of each/a multi pack of each to start with? I also got some plain leggings and lots of sleep suits, and a couple of cardis. That pretty much covered the first couple of months. My DD was quite small (5 1/2 lb) so I had bought a mix of newborn and 1-3 months but had to send DH out for some small newborn stuff at first. Depends on the shop - I found john Lewis newborn quite large compared to other brands. Gap are good as they do a under 7lb range, but it's so hard to predict how big baby will be! So I would say unless you end up having a huge baby, newborn will cover you for the first 3-4 weeks and you have plenty of time to pick up some 1-3 month stuff. Petit bateau do lovely vests but pricey! Also on the smaller/slimmer fitting side.

Poppytime · 25/04/2015 04:36

Hi mountain! I am due 2nd Oct to close to you :) been feeling much better since 12/13 weeks although was lucky didn't have too much sickness. Still get quite tired and breathless though! And need to stop eating so much!!

gingerbreadmam · 25/04/2015 06:51

thanks poppy i ended up buying:

6x short sleeved vests (3 from primark and 3 from asda)
6x long sleeved vests (same as above)
3x sleepsuits

all in newborn size. the asda ones say upto 9lb on them so hopefully gingerbreadbaby will come in under that. all my dms children were 6lb something born and my brothers had 7lb'ers so im working with those figures.

i also got some dummies and ended up getting clear and blue. wont know the sex for over 5 weeks but i just have such a strong feeling thought i would chance it Grin

we already have 3 knitted cardis so i will probably just get another 1 of 2 pack of sleepsuits when i know the sex and leave clothes at that unless theres something i really like.

Superexcited · 25/04/2015 07:05

I haven't bought any clothes yet but I am going to buy a mixture of newborn and 0-3 month vests and sleep suits. My mum has bought me a basket of baby stuff which included some sleep suits and some vests and some of the sleep suits she bought were for tiny baby (up to 6lb). This is my third baby and my first one was 8lb and 2nd one was 10lb so I don't know what my mum was thinking when she purchased tiny baby sleep suits.
gingerbread unless you plan to wash every single day without fail I would aim to have at least 10 vests and 10 sleep suits because it isn't unusual for a baby to puke several times each day and need changing, especially in the first few weeks. There is nothing worse than being on the 5th change of the day and knowing that you only have one clean set of clothes left and be rushing to wash and dry the others. I would also advise to get quite a few sheets for the same reason.
