I've had strong lower abdominal cramping this afternoon and some spotting with a couple of tiny clots. Can't get a scan until Tuesday morning Sad

gaggiagirl · 10/04/2015 20:21

Oh fab, how are you now, is there anyone with you? Tuesday is such a long way off. I'm here if you need to talk.

Fabuluce · 10/04/2015 20:32

I'm in bed and hoping for the best but fearing the worst. Cramping isn't as bad as it was and now only have a bit of brown when I wipe. I'm 11weeks tomorrow. So close.

gaggiagirl · 11/04/2015 08:03

fab that sounds positive. Lets hope it stops completely.
How are you feeling this morning?

Choccywoccydodah · 11/04/2015 08:15

Fab how are you this morning?

Fabuluce · 11/04/2015 08:31

Still have a bit of brown sludge when I wipe (there's no such thing as tmi on pregnancy boards is there??) but the cramping has gone back to normal levels. I'm hoping that was it - had a terrible night's sleep so I'm knackered now. Planning to take things very easy now until the scan on Tuesday. And hoping, hoping, hoping,,,, apparently my GP said he's known waiting times for scans be up to a week. Outrageous.

kezod · 11/04/2015 10:10

Its horrible isn't Fab I had a bleed last week and they said they couldn't fit me in until this coming mon! My routine scan is on Tue anyway so they said I may as well wait for that! It has been a very long 9 days so far (just 3 more to go!)

SparklesandBubbles · 11/04/2015 10:38

Hi
Its SLH here (just changed my user name). Welcome twolittlepenguins, I'm due end of October too, sorry to hear you've had bad morning sickness. I've been lucky and only had it a few times and that was bad enough.

Twinkletoes, great scan, you must be really pleased.

Worksallhours sounds like your little one is super chilled, sending you good vibes.

Fab, I had a little scare just before Easter and just turned up to the hospital where I'm registered. Even though they couldn't fit me in straight away they fitted me in later that day. Might be worth a try if you are worried.

I've got my midwife appointment today - is that the booking appointment - does anyone know what is involved and how long it is?

catness1 · 11/04/2015 11:41

Hi again everyone.

Sorry for disappearing for the last couple of weeks! I went back to work for the last week of term and it was quite possibly the most exhausted I have ever been. Teenage boys are not the most sympathetic beasts at the best of times, and ones with exams coming up are even worse!

The dating scan went really well. We got to see some excellent trampolining and acrobatics from the wee one (who we have taken to referring to as John Hurt, which got a very odd look from the midwife). DP is getting quite a bit more excited now. It's all been a bit abstract until now really.

I've started telling family and friends, which is really fun. I have to tell my new job on Monday (which I'm meant to be starting in September, but clearly can't...) I am not looking forward to that at all.

Next mission is to obtain a dress for the wedding I'm going to in a month. It turns out the boobs are more of an issue than the bump (I've gone up 4 cup sizes!) but the complete lack of in-store maternity wear is just depressing.

TL;DR - Pregnant woman whines about pregnancy things.

Cineraria · 11/04/2015 11:47

Fabuluce, the fact that it's stopped is a good sign. I had a bleed with a huge clot (sausage sized and shaped) at 6 weeks. Everything was ok though and the sonographer said that the baby probably caused the clot when implanting and that often these dissolve over time but I'd probably dislodged it by vomiting quite violently, as that was when the bleed started. Could be the same for you.

Glad you're ok too, OnionChutney

Nice new name, Sparkles! At the booking they will take blood and urine samples and blood pressure to check you're healthy and the rest is just questions, e.g. your medical history and DH/DPs plus whether you're related and if he's the biological father! I could tell our midwife hated asking those ones! Also they ask about work, religion and other social information that may impact on health or choices you may need to make and they will probably check where you're hoping to give birth and discuss some aspects of healthy lifestyle and the remaining appointments you'll have. You might get a Bounty Pack too, with offers and samples in it.

Cineraria · 11/04/2015 11:49

Congratulations on your good scan, Catness

Toast85 · 11/04/2015 20:27

Hi to the newbies :)
Onion- glad you had a good scan!
Fab- everything crossed for you. I had a small bleed followed by a day or so of 'brown' a few weeks ago and had to wait from the Friday until the next Wednesday for a scan- all was fine. Could have been baby settling in or cervix softening.
Thinking about it- there are quite a few of us who have had similar aren't there?

Tiredness is still getting the better of me at 13 weeks... Hoping for my energy boost soon so I can face the shops to buy work trousers and bras! Fed up of squeezing myself in but don't have a day off work until Thursday and not sure if I can manage a shopping trip.

Hi everyone and welcome to the newbies, just a quick one - is anyone else getting the odd freak out and panic about the fact that they are pregnant? Will this get better or is it normal? I'm scared about the unknown and feeling it move etc let alone actual birth! X

SparklesandBubbles · 12/04/2015 08:40

Hi everyone
I had my booking appt yesterday. All was good apart from having to do the bloods twice as I was a bit dehydrated and the vein packed in! Thanks for the advice. I decided to tell some of my close friends at a dinner last night. They are all very excited and one of them has given me a pile of her maternity clothes which will definitely be needed! Soon!

I'm not having freak outs but I do occasionally get worried about the giving birth bit!

gaggiagirl · 12/04/2015 09:12

fab how are things today?

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 09:18

Just wrote a post and it hit kept buffering!! Grr!!

I was rather guttes Friday when I didn't get a bounty pack, MW said thu don't give them out any more. Will go online and have a look at their website.

Lady I know what you mean about the scary being preg thing :)
It will get better.
I rather envious of you ladies preg with your first. It's a whole unknown journey, do enjoy it. The first flutters, first kicks, your appts, scans, growing pains etc etc. it's an absolutely amazing and surreal experience, one you can't really describe. You'll never feel like it again as you know what to expect the subsequent times (even if you forget).
I was petrified of the birth. I remember crying to my mum about I a month before. She didn't sugar coat it at all, yes it will be painful, but it's not forever. If you imagine the worst, it'll just be better than that :) I had a 8/13 DS and tbh I actually thought it was quite 'easy' and not as bad as I thought it would be, it's just very tiring.

12 weeks today for me eeeeeek!!
Never ever thought I'd get to this point again. I'm so amazed Ive got to this point with this beautiful little bearing inside me :)

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 09:18

*being not bearing!

Ladypug · 12/04/2015 09:35

Aw great news Sparkles! Thanks for the words of support and well done on 12 weeks, I can't believe how fast time is going!!! X

Ladypug · 12/04/2015 10:16

Sorry that second part was for Choccy, I thought I had put that but obviously not! X

NonnyBunny · 12/04/2015 12:14

As a first timer too, ladypug I def understand what you mean about being a bit freaked out. I think it's hard not having any control over what is going on in your body, and not knowing quite what to expect.

For me it still doesn't feel real at the moment. I still can't imagine a baby being the end result, and I can't imagine having a bump (I just look a bit thick and podgy around the middle at the moment). When do people usually start to show with a first pregnancy or does it vary hugely? I would quite like to start showing rather than just looking like all my clothes are too tight.

I think perhaps part of the reason it doesn't feel real is that I don't really feel that pregnant. I'm 14+4 and from about 13 weeks I haven't felt sick any more (I do have a few symptoms, e.g., sore boobs, needing to pee a lot, pain when I cough).....but then, not having been pregnant before, I guess I don't really know what I'm meant to feel like!

What is this bounty pack, choccy? It sounds exciting, but whatever it is, I definitely didn't get one! Envy

Fabuluce hope you are doing okay today?

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 12:45

Loads of freebies Nonny :) you get 3 or 4 throughout pregnancy.

I didn't show anything until 24 weeks with ds, never bought maternity clothes or anything either which I was gutted about! I bought a couple of trousers a size up and some stretchy or floaty tops which I also could wear not pregnant and that was it!

Choccywoccydodah · 12/04/2015 12:48

bounty packs :)

lalalemon · 12/04/2015 13:25

Hi ladies,

Just looking for a bit of reassurance! I'm having quite bad sickness, can't really call it morning as its never in the morning! From about week 8 (now 12+2 so 4 and a bit weeks of it now. I eat a meal and immediately bring the whole lot back up. It only seems to be one meal a day and hasn't been everyday. But it's getting a bit annoying now!

Anyone else experienced this? Please tell me it will stop soon!

Thanks in advance!

Toast85 · 12/04/2015 14:24

Generally I'm loving it- just loving knowing I'm growing a baby, and I'm the only one who knows how it feels for me. Then sometimes I get a bit over-hormonal and have a little freak out like "aargh what's going on with my body, I dont know how to 'be pregnant' help!".. But then I go back to loving it again. Smile Obviously I'm saying this now having made it out the other side of the first trimester and having had 2 normal scans- I was scared of it going wrong for most of the first trimester.

Sorry lalalemon I can't offer any advice- I've been one of the lucky ones with no sickness and only a few early weeks of nausea.

Choccy- so pleased you're still with us! After all you've been through!

lala sorry you're feeling so rubbish, sickness is so debilitating. Try going to the gp, there are lots of anti emetics that can help. I suffered for so long before asking for help because I was worried about the effect drugs might have on the baby, but you not getting enough nutrition and especially fluids isn't great either. It took a while and a few different drugs but I'm doing much better now so it's really worth going in.
