This sounds silly but can someone define spotting ? Do you literally mean spots of it or can that be classed as just when you wipe with a tissue ? Don't think EPU is open at weekends. Will probably see what happens tonight and tomorrow I guess ?

Choccywoccydodah · 28/03/2015 18:57

Spotting is when you wipe yes. You may get a spot on your knickers but nothing in the loo etc and don't need a pad x

Adventuregame · 28/03/2015 19:03

Thanks choccy - sorry to ask questions when I know you've been thro such tough time with your losses.

Choccywoccydodah · 28/03/2015 19:14

Ask away :) Is yours spotting?

gaggiagirl · 28/03/2015 19:17

adventure keep talking to us. I've been there and just felt so lost as to what to do or who to call. I'm still none the wiser.

gingerbreadmam · 28/03/2015 19:31

adventure i had an mmc last year, had symptoms even after i knew for certain the baby had died. try not to worry too much about symptoms. Also with my mmc i spotted for around a week then had a small bleed which is when i went to epu for scan which confirmed mmc.

two weeks ago tomo when i would have been 8+6 i was sat on sofa and felt wet, went to loo and was bright red and a small clot about the size of a 10p piece. the bleeding was similar to a nosebleed i suppose. epu couldnt see me until 2 days later by which point i had given up hope and thought it had all gone wrong again. the scan showed a perfect 9 wk old baby heart beating away etc.

i notice you mentioned toilet, i had really bad trapped wind before mine and was trying to force it out, i could feel like a sharp prick when pushing which was making me stop so...i think i might have popped something. the midwife did say u can pop a blood vessel and couldnt see any reason for blood so...just a positive story there for you. try not to worry too much but thinking of u Thanks

NonnyBunny · 28/03/2015 20:37

Thanks taranta for the reassurance. It's great to hear you went through something similar and things turned out fine. You must be feeling so relieved right now! I'm really happy dog for you. I think our odds are 1:5 at best (based on googling my nuchal fold size), but as my DH says there's still more chance that things will be ok than not ok.

I'll check out those other threads you mentioned too - thanks for the tip.

Thanks fizzy too for the reassurance and catness1 and others for your kind words. It's always great to hear there are some happy endings!

Hope you are okay, adventuregame? Did you manage to speak to a doctor or midwife to get some reassurance. I'm no expert but if you don't have major cramps I'd like to think you'll be fine.

Adventuregame · 28/03/2015 21:34

Ginger that's a good way to describe it actually - like a nose bleed.
It's hard with DP being away. I told him about it earlier but said I was trying not to worry !
I've been quite calm all day but then when it happened again this evening I can safely say I'm fully worrying now !!
choccy I guess you would say I'm spotting then ?

Adventuregame · 28/03/2015 22:37

It seems to have got worse. Will probably try and call hospital/EPU/midwife in the morning I think. Just had a bit of a hysterical cry having managed to keep it together all day.

flipflump · 29/03/2015 08:24

Sorry to hear you're having a stressful time Adventure. Definitely get checked out for peace of mind.

Adventuregame · 29/03/2015 08:32

Just spoken to a midwife. She says try not to worry. I can either go to A&E today and they'll check my health but probably won't scan me and tell me to go back tomorrow or I can wait and go to the pregnancy unit first thing in the morning. Think I'll see what happens when I'm up and about.

Poppytime · 29/03/2015 09:00

Sorry to hear this Adventure. Up to you but might be better to see how you are today and if still worried definitely go in first thing and get a scan - saves 2 worrying trips to the hospital. Unless there is any chance you may get a scan today?

Adventuregame · 29/03/2015 09:13

The midwife said it was unlikely that A&E would scan me so think I'll just rest today and go first thing in the morning.

Choccywoccydodah · 29/03/2015 09:20

Adventure so sorry it's got worse my lovely. Why is pregnancy so frikkin worrying!!!
When I went in for my scan, they said that if my spotting had continued they would have performed a cervical scan (if that's the right word) to see if my cervix was closed.
They said sometimes baby can be absolutely fine but the cervix slightly opens and they have to put in a stitch to keep it closed. They may have a look at that for you in a&e, but you would then have to go back for a scan. I'm not 100% on that though as they wanted to scan me first to check the baby then do the exam.
If you do get more bleeding though today I think the trip would be worth it. Hand holding if you need it x

gaggiagirl · 29/03/2015 10:10

adventure were all here so keep talking to us if you need too.

Adventuregame · 29/03/2015 11:19

Thanks Gaggiagirl
It seems to be slowing/maybe stopping but I'm managing to relax on the sofa and a friend is going to take me to EPU in the morning. DP gets home tomorrow afternoon x

Poppytime · 29/03/2015 12:03

Sounds good adventure - hope you have a relaxing day today and all ok tomorrow. I also had spotting like this with my first pregnancy and although they didn't know for sure they suspected it was just things growing and moving causing a bit of bleeding. It settled down after a few days and all was fine, DD now climbing on me, hope it's the same for you tooThanks try and stay positive

KHM0610 · 29/03/2015 18:15

Hi everyone,

Complete newbie here so not sure about all the abbreviations. My sister suggested joining Mumsnet as she meets up & chats a lot with the ladies & babies in her group.

Do I just add my details to that Google Doc?

Had my first scan on Thursday there & was very emotional watching the wee one on the screen! MW had to tell me more than once to try to relax. Blush

My nausea isn't too bad anymore, however still exhausted all the time. Hope everyone is keeping well!

scatterbrainedlass · 29/03/2015 18:20

Hi KHM, welcome :) Yes, if you want to add your details you can do, just lets everyone know where we're all up to. There is a link at the top of the page called 'Acronyms' which is a list of all the abbreviations we use, it's quite helpful.

Glad you're feeling ok, I think we're slowly heading out of the worst stages of morning sickness now. How far along are you?

KHM0610 · 29/03/2015 18:38

Hi scatterbrainedlass,

I'm 12+5, due 6 October. Thanks for the acronyms link! Didn't see that! x

Choccywoccydodah · 29/03/2015 19:00

Welcome KHM!

How's everything adventure?

Adventuregame · 29/03/2015 19:19

Hi choccy
It had stopped today between 10 and 4 but then started again with a slight dull ache so I'm pretty much expecting the worst now. My friend is taking me to the EPU first thing in the morning. I've had lots of tears with DP via face time and glad he'll be home tomorrow afternoon. I know I've struggled coming to terms with the whole idea of having a baby but I never expected to lose it. DP says me being ok is the most important thing and that we can try again if it's what I want.

flipflump · 29/03/2015 19:25

Adventure, I have everything crossed for you. All the best tomorrow and we're here with virtual shoulders to lean on.

KHM0610 · 29/03/2015 19:32

Hi Choccywoccy,

All good here, thanks! How're you doing? x

Ladypug · 29/03/2015 19:51

Just catching up on the thread, I hope you're ok Adventure I can't imagine how you must be feeling, just waiting for tomorrow. We're all here if you need to talk x
