Ooooh, new resource of the day - a Thing from the Money Advice Service that gives you a timeline of when to do financial things based on when your due date is:

www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/tools/baby-money-timeline

Also goes post-birth, so we've not missed out by not discovering this sooner!

ChickenMe · 28/02/2015 18:34

I'm probably extra heavy so the ball is squashed!

londonlivvy · 28/02/2015 18:37

oof. I'm knackered. DD threw strop after strop all morning (my poor pregnant friend who was visiting must have wondered why she was bothering) and then a kids birthday party this afternoon.

But DH is back tonight after his 8 day holiday. hurrah. So he can take DD swimming tomorrow morning and I can have a snooze. And I can get a hug too. I have the utmost respect for single parents. It's a tough gig.

AnniaFausta · 28/02/2015 19:02

I wouldn't worry, Lauren, that's the same advice that the NCT shop page for birthing balls gives:

www.nctshop.co.uk/Anti-Burst-Birth-and-Exercise-Ball/productinfo/3249/

However, I've gone for one which comes out at about the same price as the NCT ones because it's on sale and comes with a pump:

www.sportsdirect.com/yoga-mad-swiss-ball-set-761025?colcode=76102599

In case anyone's interested!

skyra13 · 28/02/2015 19:08

To be honest I wanted the bases more then the car seat it just a bonus that its added extra really it looks fine to me. When we travel to south of France in may will use the new one I got anyway. Surely people are not that horrible to sell one been in an accident! Only thing I haven't got 2nd hand is mattresses.

StuntNun · 28/02/2015 19:13

At my last midwife appointment she said I had ketones in my urine. Has anyone else had this? I had a GD test in January and it came back negative so I'm assuming ketones aren't a big worry?

cinnamongreyhound · 28/02/2015 19:42

X posts earlier BrixtonBunny, glad things are going well with the house still.

That sucks RL20! Enjoy the tranquility of your mums!

You would hope so but money does funny things to people skyra13. We went with quite a cheap seat with ds1 rather than second hand so not sure what's better really, still using it though! Plus I guess if it was a small accident they may just think its ok and not worry about it.

smogsville · 28/02/2015 19:45

Thanks for sorting the new thread Boo.

RL good for you for trying to be positive. I hope you get some info about what's going to be done soon. Is flat yours or are you renting?

Brumma - I'm a bit like the no pain/ happy to be sliced woman I'm afraid! Although babygros are from normal retailers not Armani. Fwiw my recovery was easy last time.

Hiding - you don't get CB if either person's income exceeds 50k. Used to be a universal benefit. We used to pay it straight into DD's bank account too Angry

Welcome mumhum. I'd say make sure you sit down a lot when you get there.

London - completely agree about single parents and how they all deserve pats on the back.

DH has been a bit of a legend today, up and in the garden at 8am in the driving rain prepping the soil and then turfing it. Looks fab and more to the point it's raining really hard now which is apparently just what you want for turf.

We were meant to be out tonight with some friends of his and my sis babysitting but he's too tired so has sacked it off and we're all having a curry instead! I'm in my pjs and so excited. DD seems to be asleep too.

Skyra another one here that read up on second hand car seats. I'm no professional though obviously so I'm just going by what I read at some point (can't even remember where or when!). But with second hand car seats it's an underlying thing that's not always visible to the eye, if it is damaged in any way it could be something on the inside of it. I just tried to find where I read it and came across this website, have a read if you want to. I don't want to scare you but would rather have gave you the link so you can make your own mind up x www.madeformums.com/reviews-and-shopping/shopping-guides/what-not-to-buy-secondhand---from-car-seats-to-mattresses/11316.html

Thanks everyone. Flat is rented, which in a way I suppose is good as hopefully they'll place us in other accommodation whilst any work goes on if needs be

RL20 · 28/02/2015 19:59

www.madeformums.com/reviews-and-shopping/shopping-guides/what-not-to-buy-secondhand---from-car-seats-to-mattresses/11316.html

Not sure if this link is working or not?! Not entirely sure how to do them!

Siarie · 28/02/2015 20:26

I'm not trying to be all anti second hand, just type second hand car seat into Google and you'll get a bunch of websites saying never buy one second hand yada yada. Much like the mattress, advice I suppose. I think it's like cinanmon said the fact you can't tell if it's been in an accident as the damage done is often internal. Im sure the ISO fix makes it a good deal either way, I still have to order my ISO fix but our new car is coming next month so I'll sort that out then.

I have one active baby moving around this evening. Giving me a good rib kicking, hehe!

TheBooMonster · 28/02/2015 20:34

ooh that money advice calendar is pretty useful annia!

I'm also pretty suspect of second hand car seats, though I find car journeys in general to be the most stressful thing ever >.> PiL insist on putting DD in the seat in her coat, and I've seen so many horror stories about why it's a bad idea, but every time I've tried to convey that I don't want her in the seat in her coat it falls on deaf ears Angry I'm forever taking her out of her coat and readjusting the straps and every single time I get in the car the straps are back to small person in a coat size, I wouldn't mind so much if it was like a rain mac but it's a full on puffy coat...

Also I have horrible period like pains this evening, I want to break things it hurts so much and it's all the way down in my thigh bones too and my foof feels tight cries

OP posts:
skyra13 · 28/02/2015 20:50

If the seat turns out to be no good will just use the bases an move the new seat between the 2 car. Was just added bonus that there was a seat with the isofix bases.

I have had horrible pains again tonight starting to really not enjoy this pregnancy anymore will be 35 weeks tomo feel like a house an the chest pain is back :(

RL20 · 28/02/2015 20:58

Oh Boo that sounds uncomfortable Confused hope you get some sort of relief soon! Earlier this evening I had a pain in my right rib at the top, when I was sat in certain positions. I forgot all about it until now and just realised the pain has gone but I definitely had it for over an hour. It was like baby had lodged a limb between my ribs! ConfusedGrin

Thanks for the money advice calendar Annia, will take a look at that!

Sorry to hear that you're having pains too skyra! Looks like were all getting to an uncomfortable stage! I'm getting my fair share of restless leg/s although not an actual pain, it's rather annoying! Especially when I get it in bed too.

Finally packed my hospital bag today. Although it will be staying at my mums house until we know what our living situation will be! Hopefully we will know more about that on Monday.

My mum bought me 2 nighties from Asda the other day, one to hopefully wear for labour etc, and then a dark one to wear after the birth. They were only £5 each so were a bargain! They're cotton and a t-shirt with capped sleeves sort of style so not too skimpy or anything! I bought them in a size 16-18, haven't tried them on but shouldn't hopefully be ok! Also got my slippers from there for about £5/£6 too, the dolly shoe style ones (I can't remember what they're called) with the non-slip grips on the bottom.
Think I've got most things in there other than little bits, but haven't checked my list over yet!
Starting to feel very real now!

BonjourMinou · 28/02/2015 21:25

Hi all! Welcome to mumhum not got much to add and I'm braving mumsnet on my phone so I can try to keep up with the threads again, I completely missed dances news. Glad baby is doing ok now.
Whoever compared the placenta attached baby to an ood was hilarious and so, so right! Free birth woman seemed a little irresponsible to me, so much can go wrong and why risk it? Can understand her not wanting to have loads of examinations but midwife could easily have sat in a corner and watched her quietly, would have been much safer. I'm with the c sec woman, though couldn't understand why her husband wanted to drag her on all his business trips, especially as soon as 10 days post op.

Wineandchoccy · 28/02/2015 21:47

I'm watching the childbirth programme now, I don't know what to make of any of it. My birth plan seems very boring now Grin

DH is out on his last night out before baby arrives so I bet he has a sore head tomorrow, ha ha I don't miss having a hangover.

Im having a hot chocolate and a vanilla slice now, rock n roll Saturday night for me!

RL20 · 28/02/2015 22:02

Wine yes I think this will be my partners last night out too, although one of his friends is getting married around my due date, can't remember whether it's before or after, but bless him he thought we would be ok to go Grin I said in the days leading up to my due date I'm going to be one of those people who literally does nothing and goes nowhere, I'll be too scared! I really don't like the idea of going to a wedding so close to my due date Confused
So his stag do is in March some time, no idea as yet whether he'll be going to it or not, I suppose it depends on what happens with our housing situation! We might have too much going on to even contemplate him going on a night out, but we'll see.
My rock and roll night has consisted of a chicken in sauce with rice ready meal with microwave chips! Followed by more microwave chips on their own later on because I was still hungry Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 28/02/2015 22:03

Because she was a trophy wife BonjourMinou, he liked that she looked pretty on his arm. The photo shoot made me feel so uncomfortable, poor woman trying to lean down, that's not happy family photos Sad

Sorry to hear you're uncomfortable TheBooMonster and skyra13, hope it's nothing more than discomfort. I am babysitting and the sofa is horrid!

I'm in the restless leg camp too RL20 Sad

Wineandchoccy · 28/02/2015 22:10

Well I don't think I will be taking smoothies to work this week after watching that, boak!
Poor Anna during that photo shoot she looked so uncomfortable.

I bought some raspberry leaf tea today but hot chocolate seemed more appealing tonight Smile

RL20 · 28/02/2015 22:11

... Oh and I also cut my hair! Confused
Been wanting to do it for ages, so I decided that the right time to do it was at 9.30pm standing in front of the kitchen mirror? I don't know.
I had really let it go and it was getting me down scraping it back all the time, I didn't look or feel nice! I've cut about an inch/inch and a half of the length and cut my layers a bit shorter as they had almost grown to the length of my hair, which kept making it so knotty Confused it took me around half an hour beforehand to just brush it through, it was like dreadlocks! Even my mum said she'd never seen it look so bad! Grin
So just going to colour it in the morning now and I should feel like brand new?!?! Hmm.

Cinnamon the restless leg camp isn't that great is it. I always get it when I'm relaxed, I just know I'll get it when I go to bed!

skyra13 · 28/02/2015 22:18

Think I feel so pants I think it is due to little one getting into position my bump is like a rock so think I'm feeling all bum an back! Back ache starting to get to me!

I felt sorry for the c-section women when her husband was like she will be fine to fly after 10 days wont she lol the doctor was like she needs to recover! If that was my hubby id be sticking my fingers up at him lol

mswibble · 28/02/2015 22:29

Wowsers, that birth programme? Blimey O'Reilly! The rich husband was a total twatbag, evidently his business trips are more important than his wife. I actually felt really sorry for her - trying to contort herself on the bed two days after a c section was horrible to watch. Free birth woman was surprisingly bearable (though she was pretty smug - complications during birth could happen to anyone and I dread to think how different the outcome could have been) her group of friends had me cringing, can't stand any of that new age crap. I found placenta chomping woman annoying too, again so smug and placenta carrying woman seemed perfectly nice, though bonkers!
My own plan is "please do anything you need to, just as long as it results in a happy and healthy mum and baby"!

cinnamongreyhound · 28/02/2015 22:30

Mine are worse when I get too tired RL20 which is annoying as all you want to go to sleep! I got it before I was pregnant but not as often. Upping potassium is supposed to help.

Argh, just got a message from a woman who I know quite well but wouldn't call a friend about a meeting for her to introduce me to her new business and learn about the fabulous products she's selling. Seriously?!?!?!? She knows me well enough to know I work 50hr weeks, see knows I'm 35 weeks pregnant and that I'm on the preschool committee (may not know about school governor and parkrun event director) and she feels that now is the time for me to start a new business. My response was polite but I wanted to say are you fucking serious, fuck off! Aibu to be so irritated?

RL20 · 28/02/2015 22:38

Cinnamon thanks, surprisingly have never actually looked into what would help restless legs!
Is that woman running one of those commission based things, like a Herbalife thing if you get my drift. Had loads of people promoting those all over Facebook at one point!

I haven't watched this birth programme that your all talking about (have made it up to now in my life without watching One Born Every Minute so I don't want to start watching anything too graphic now!) but I agree mswibble, that's also my wish! I just want my baby to arrive safely and healthy, whatever they/I have to do!
