Good morning ladies, I slept ok last night apart from DH waking me at 1.30 by walking into the chest of drawers after his night out then he wanted to cuddle bump, he is still in bed moaning that he is dying stupid man Grin

Is anybody batch cooking for when the baby arrives?
The weather is awful here today so I might go and get ingredients and start filling the freezer.

Lauren82000 · 01/03/2015 10:26

RL best way to tell which way up they are is when they get hiccups. Wink

cinnamongreyhound · 01/03/2015 10:30

Morning all, beautiful day here!!

Sorry for your early morning Lauren82000.

Glad you're feeling better Skyra13.

Moan away catsofa, you are coping on your own with lots of stuff it's not surprising you need a rant! Hopefully you will be in and have a space to give birth with your dp when the time comes, if not everything will still be fine and you'll manage Flowers

It is pants that they haven't explained anything Misty414! It's written to discuss birth plan at my 36week apt but I guess that's what you had with the Dr last week? Can you call and book a midwife apt for next week and talk to her more then? I think sometimes they forget that they may have done this hundreds of times but actually YOU haven't done it before. My mum was in hospital for 2 weeks before my brother was born and when they went to turn him he had already done it himself so they discharged her and she went home! Things are very different now though I'm sure.

I went for a run with my canicross club this morning, it's beautiful out there! I felt it was tough this morning and that it may be my last one :( I don't want to slow everybody down! A lot of my friends are through running and I'm actually quite sad about the prospect of not seeing many of them soon. They are getting a bit twitchy about me being so close but I figure with my other two benign induced overdue I'm pretty safe!

I was figuring that if I have baby a little late I will still be on maternity leave when it's ds1's birthday so we can take him out for the evening after school without further disruption to my customers which will be nice :)

Got a day of going to the tip and shopping for a few bits plus my boys wants to make crispy cake nests so we're going to try and get some cheap really tiny mini eggs from lidl like we did last year. But got to wash the mud off myself and get them dressed first!

skyra13 · 01/03/2015 10:36

I already have a small freezer full of batch made stuff just been freezing meals as I have been cooking them normally would eat a lasagne over 2 days buy been freezing the other half. Did not realise how much I had till I could not fit anymore in the other day!
Its really sunny in Kent today so the dog will get a nice run today, he hates the rain and wont go out in it lol

I have just realised that I'm going to need not one, not two, but three sheets of birth plan notes to take to the hospital with me... one for the midwives with the pared down essential medical stuff to make sure they absorb the important bits; one for DH and mum with the more general/detailed 'how to look after me' stuff; and one with guidance on all the potential interventions to stop it cluttering up the other two plans, as I am discovering I have Views.

You may all point and laugh at my ridiculous over-organised-ness now.

skyra13 · 01/03/2015 10:59

I think I been lucky bump has always been head down when she has hiccups.
My DH knows my birth plan and also knows not to wind me up that's my biggest concern about my birth lol

FiRaffe · 01/03/2015 11:19

I know this is a stupid question, but how do you know it's hiccups?

skyra13 · 01/03/2015 11:33

You can tell its hiccups by the movement being the same one after another and general in the same place can last from a few min to half an hour I normally get them from her after I have eaten. I find they are normally a few seconds apart an can get annoying. Hope that's helpful Fi

PenguinPoser · 01/03/2015 11:40

FiRaffe my baby hiccups feel how it would if I had hiccups, but down in the lower left corner of my bump if that makes sense. Like little regular rhythmical jerky movements. Baby gets hiccups very regularly!

FiRaffe · 01/03/2015 13:18

Guess baby hasn't had any that i've felt yet then! Thanks ladies

RL20 · 01/03/2015 13:43

I wonder if the little 'beats' I've been feeling are hiccups then. Hadn't thought of that! I had them in the lower part of my belly this morning when all the wriggling was going on so could mean he's still head down! They feel like a pulse, and go on for a few minutes usually.

Oh and catsofa, this definitely is the right place for you to have a moan, like everyone else has said! I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't been able to moan on here! Grin

Another one here with no birth plan. Perhaps I'm a bit too early yet at 32+6? My next midwife appointment is on the 11th March I think so I'll have to try and remember to bring it up. What does a birth plan entail?! I've also seen some of you talk about the tours of the maternity ward? I'm not sure if that's offered round here or not

minipie · 01/03/2015 14:20

Hiccups: you know when you're really tired and you get that annoying muscle twitch in your eyelid? baby hiccups feel like that, only in my abdomen. Cute but a bit irritating! This baby seems to have them loads, DD1 had them hardly ever (at least in the womb).

Annia that actually sounds quite sensible re 3 birth plans! do remember your views may change during labour though - eg I thought I'd want back massage, to be offered drinks, distraction etc and in fact I just wanted to be left alone as much as possible. so my guidance to DH this time is just "do exactly what I say..." Grin

babiecakes so pleased it looks like you may make it to 37 weeks, that is amazing. How many weeks are you now? I know the medics tend to relax a lot after 34 weeks (DD was 34 weeks exactly).

skyra13 · 01/03/2015 14:24

My birth plan is pretty much going with the flow.
Due to high BMI I can't go to birth centre.
So I have put in my notes my options on pretty much everything that could happen.
E.g Only want epidural it I have to have an emergency c-section.

Would like to try water if available, would like to have only gas and air but if pain becomes to much will try other options.

Midwife said try to be as flexible as you don't really know what's going to happen!

If you already know what you want you can put it into your book any time. I have had mine written in book since about 30 weeks, but I have also had my bag backed for hospital since about then to lol

RL the little beats I would say are defo hiccups :)

cinnamongreyhound · 01/03/2015 14:57

Yeah sounds like it RL20, my baby gets them 2-4 times a day.

I checked my endomondo earlier misty414 and we did 9.45, 8.44, 10.34 and 9.27 min miles so now I know why it was tough! Perhaps I'll have to stick with my two running buddies or just daylight runs on my own with laps so I'm near home and Dh is happier! They want to induce me at 40weeks but at midwife apt last week she thinks I can push for a week overdue but she thinks they'll get 'twitchy' to let me go further. She thinks their explanation that there's no reason not to is rubbish and that as my other pregnancies were 42 weeks I may just have longer pregnancies. So to give induction the best chance of working or to give me chance to go into labour on my own she thinks I should wait, which I'm very happy wth! Will see what consultant and neonatal Dr think on 13th!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/03/2015 14:59

On birth plan front, I don't want an episiotomy, I don't want pethedine or epidural. I want vitK injection and id like water birth without cfm. I always wanted a natural third stage with my others but having had the injection with both and havingb good outcomes I'm tempted to just have it this time too. If im induced there's no choice on that too. Dh said he didn't want to cut the cord both times but when asked at the time he said yes.

Lauren82000 · 01/03/2015 15:22

Wow fell asleep for 2 hours Blush knew I'd gotten up too early! There goes my plan of making crispy cakes with DD going to my mums in 20mins

PenguinPoser · 01/03/2015 15:34

You must have needed it though Lauren hope you feel better for it.

Skyra my plan is go with the flow too now. I had thought about wanting to go in the pool etc but I'm going to have to be on cfm (which I'm ok with given higher risk fetal distress) but scuppers my plans of being active and in pool already so I figured what's the point making a further plan! I've just told DH that as long as baby is ok and I'm ok to let them do whatever they need to. Still hoping to be able to use the birthing/gym ball!

Gosh cinnamon those are fast miles, well done! The other year I did a 10k with average 11m15s miles which was fast for me and I wasn't pregnant! I think at the moment a mile would take me about 45mins Grin. I think you should keep running as long as you feel ok your body will tell you if you need to stop.

RL that definitely sounds like baby hiccups! Don't worry if you don't get them Fi I'm sure that's totally normal too!

Lauren82000 · 01/03/2015 16:06

I fancied the pool but after reading into it more I don't fancy it so much anymore. Don't know what I want till I get to that point so I'm go with the flow I guess. Baby has been pretty quiet this afternoon but I have been asleep for most of it. Having my weekly mini can of coke at my mums so that should perk it right up. Wink

TheBooMonster · 01/03/2015 16:21

annia just remember with the birth plan the less wordy and to the point you can make it the more likely the midwife is to actually read it. I've got 1 to the point 'just in case people have failed to notice my medical crap' plan separated by stage with a warning that I'm using natal hypnotherapy and homeopathy, and then DH is having it drummed into him on a weekly basis all the more long winded stuff and will be in charge of keeping a record of any homeopathy we've used in case the docs need to check I've not taken anything that will mess with any conventional meds.

updated you babycakes

ChickenMe · 01/03/2015 16:45

Have your birth plan ideas changed much as you've progressed?
I'm under the consultant so no pool Sad. So now, apart from no pethidine and no formula, yes to epidural (which limits options a bit re moving around I guess) and bf-ing, my plan is "get it out". If I were midwife-led I'd have a much more comprehensive plan definitely.
I remember saying to my mum "no forceps". Now I don't care.
Am I in that "fed up" stage now?

AnniaFausta · 01/03/2015 16:56

Boo, that's exactly why I'm splitting the birth plan out into different documents - DH and Mum can have all the 'encourage me to move, keep lots of water available' stuff, which means I can pare back the midwife one to the bare medical essentials. Then the 'interventions' sheet can be consulted as and when if it's needed without clogging up the 'simple' instructions.

Something I also saw someone on here doing that I am shamelessly borrowing is to split the plan into first/second/third stage of labour and post-birth, which again feels like it means there's a good chance of the relevant bits of information being paid attention to at the right time.

I'm now thinking I'll do double sided lamination (so the 'simple' bits on one side and the same intervention instructions on the other) to keep the bits of paper down but make sure everyone can see them. I... shouldn't be allowed to strategy-plan these things. DH didn't laugh at me when I explained all this in our strategy meeting just now. He is very kind.

brummagem · 01/03/2015 17:09

If I can have a natural birth top of list will be constant supply of ice chips. It was roasting in hospital without the stress of labour! Next will probably be gaffer tape for DHs gob otherwise I think might actually kill him. He's being a sweetie in general but he does enjoy watching me go off like Krakatoa in response to his wise cracks. I worry he'll be like Robbie Williams!

9 min miles at 8 months pregnant is seriously impressive! I didn't manage that before hand either Grin my slow run was 13 min miles. Although I read about a Kenyan elite marathon runner (like 2hr 10 type elite) who did his LSR at 9 min miles which didn't make me feel too bad although my race pace didn't go to 4-5 min miles lol.

Got very excited watching Mo break the 2 mile indoor record couple of weeks ago in Brum. Than man is just built to run he makes it look so easy. Negative split too.

I think have possibly reached the fed up phase too Chicken. I've gone from being healthy and drinking naught but water to drinking becks blue shandies scoffing more chocolate and lazing about more.

Considering getting a gym birth ball thingy too they're ace for encouraging anterior placing of baby but will miss lounging on the sofa I can't breathe when sat forward!
