Daholster I'm sorry you're feeling so rubbish still. Sending huge hugs xxx

FiRaffe · 08/03/2015 19:50

Evening, bought our first pack of nappies today. Have got waitrose ones as that's where we do our weekly shop- pampers are the only other option.
Had a pretty rubbish day -have got tendonitis in my right wrist and it is killing me. I can barley lift my drink so packing boxes has been interesting - i've got to get better soon as I need to help DH empty the furniture from the nursery before decorating next weekend. Argh!

Hope your DD is okay Lauren - as you said we all need to learn for ourselves some times!

Hope everyone has had a good day and those who were feeling rough are better.

mswibble · 08/03/2015 20:45

Congratulations babiecakes! so lovely to hear you're home!

hope you're faring better tonight daholster, cant be nice dealing with that at any time, nevermind at our stage of the pregnancy!

Our crib finally has a mattress and sheets so whenever baby makes an appearance at least his bed is ready. Its in the babys room at the mo but once we get the cot it will be moved into our room. With the recliner and mobile all in place its my favourite place to sit now. I just go in and sit, taking it all in. I still need to get the prints on the wall and curtains up but definitely getting there.

Congrats on the house brixton! it makes such a difference having the house sorted. Kitchen sounds lovely!

Good luck with the induction rusty!

So glad im not the only one to suffer with their bowels at the mo! Ive actually been okay today but then ive barely moved off the sofa, a well deserved day of lazing here today!

7.5 days in work left for me, last day is the 20th. Can. Not. Wait! Grin

April 2015 Thread 12: Where are the carseats and are the bags packed, the babies are threatening to make an entrance!
cinnamongreyhound · 08/03/2015 21:37

Great news, well done BrixtonBunny, bare plaster isnt the end of the world!

daholster · 08/03/2015 22:14

brixton I missed your post - wow!!! That's amazing, well done! Sounds lovely...

Just a word of warning, we finished our massive decorating of opening up downstairs, replastering, painting and carpeting stairs, landing, and nursery too... The next morning I woke with contractions! Apparently the sudden relief/drop in stress causes a drop in cortisol levels which can kick off labour!

Just saying... Dd arrived 12hrs after I woke Smile

smogsville · 08/03/2015 22:33

daholster our DD does that from time to time. Think it's the odd nightmare. She doesn't even want us when we go in and won't be comforted. Fortunately it's quite rare touches wood but you're right it's distressing to see them like that.

Sorry to hear you've not been well and of course it's worse for you, you musn't feel bad it's not as if you're not doing the best you can by contacting old nurse for advice. Your DH sounds like he's been amazing today - how did be fit all that in while taking care of your DD?!

Rusty! Good luck! Glad to hear the night mw was nice. When I was on postnatal with DD they were beasts.

Might get some of those Boots mat pads you've recommended Annia. Mattress newish here too! Just bc I have a section date doesn't mean something won't happen earlier.

Welcome OneEyed.

brumma - yes permanently thirsty, for water though. Of course it all comes out the other end almost straightaway, we're getting through the loo roll at quite a rate Blush

River, presumably you won't try to make the evening do of the wedding if you've just given birth?!

Babiecakes that's fantastic news well done all round! And a great weight for 36 wks.

Lauren it's too late now obviously but I always keep fruit juice ice lollies for when DD falls and busts her lip. Seems to cheer her up and calm her down while also helping her lip to heal because of the ice. She is very boisterous and always leaping off things. Fairly agile so doesn't fall often but inevitably sometimes she misjudges.

Well done Brixton, your house is making incredible progress. I'm at a loss to understand how our extension took three months?!

So today we did some furniture shifting and DH manipulated the Ikea wardrobe planner and has come up with a drawing of what we need to order for DD's new room. Going to hang on until there's time to look at it together and make sure it's right rather than doing our usual rush rush for no good reason and buy the wrong thing.

DD squirted DH's aftershave in her eye tonight, so that was fun. Then she gave us all a shock by getting herself out of bath, dried and into pjs and bed by herself (she's 3, so it's acceptable not to be in bathroom with her at all times) while we were getting things sorted for Monday morning. Part of me thought marvellous, independence and the other part thought thank Christ she didn't slip and bang her head on floor tiles getting out.

Right goodnight everyone. Rusty, the thread's thoughts are with you I'm sure.

daholster · 09/03/2015 06:54

Normal gut service has resumed! At least for now Grin TMI warning about my weird old guts, this post embraces sharing my strange anatomy and required obsessiveness about what my bowel is doing!

So, I'm MUCH better! What is slightly frustrating is that the blockage appears to have been caused by something that would normally never cause any issues... I think it was vegetable soup! Slightly concerning that that could block me up... Also I've never had a blockage that wasn't near the exit before. Obviously there's some scarred bit of gut somewhere getting pinched...

I think ds has moved right down, maybe even engaged. I did lots of sitting forward, hands and knees etc trying to get more comfy yesterday. Next thing I know when I stood up I got lots of vaginal stabbing pains, pains in my bum, pressure between my legs and teeny movements which felt like little hands right behind my pubic bone. Kicks moved down from my ribs too. I stopped feeling as bloated with this almost instantly and within an hour my gut was working again! He obviously moved away from whichever bit of gut needs all the space it can get to work... And even to let through a (slightly fibrous but blended til completely smooth) soup!!!!

So ds needs to stay down... And I basically need to drink lots more fluid to wash stuff through and avoid all fibre until he arrives I think (fibre is great for colons to get them moving but doesn't digest at all in the small intestine so just causes problems - normally a reasonable amount well chewed is fine! But even smooth soul wasn't fine so I will have to just forgo it I think...)

So, a no fibre diet!!!! Could get boring... At least D's will be out in time for strawberry season Grin

Does anyone else a painful left bump after trying to sleep on their left all night? Its very uncomfy!

Now he has moved down though I have a new problem, he's sitting on my remaining bit of poorly bowel (the bottom bit, all disconnected) and I'm having to go to the loo every two hours to empty my bum of blood!!!! Good grief! Its sore too. Still, FAR less of the two evils, I can cope with doing that much easier and it just means it will give me the shove I need to start using my rectal steroid meds again in preparation for birth anyway, so hopefully if I start that tonight it should be feeling much better by the weekend. Smile

I am so relieved... Just hope it lasts!!!

Dh has just left for the airport. Dd slept through though, dad will be here by lunch and I am more comfy so things are looking up!!!

Have a great day everyone! Rusty, thinking of you!

FiRaffe · 09/03/2015 07:32

Glad things are improving daholster and you've got to the bottom of the problem (may be not the right phrase!). At least with your Dad arriving you'll get some more support so hopefully can continue to feel better.

I think baby has turned around again so is facing my back. We've got a growth scan tomorrow so I hope we get to see more than a spine but as long as baby is okay that's fine.

daholster · 09/03/2015 08:01

smogs I meant to say wow at your dd!

FiRaffe yes I hope so too, have a bit more energy this morning and feel my nesting instincts returning... Have already tidied up all dd's toys so the living room is clear for vacuuming... Now having a Brew

Hope your scan goes well and you get to see a face too!!!

PenguinPoser · 09/03/2015 08:21

Yey daholster glad things are looking better.
Brixton sounds like things are coming along really well with the new house!

Still feel pants this morning I think the absolute last thing I needed this week was a cold Sad just hope it's improving by the weekend when baby eviction processes commence! My bump is so sore and I'm so flipping itchy Angry. Going to try and just relax today and bounce on ball to try and get baby's head down more. Will I know when it feels engaged? Imagining feeling like a massive thing between my legs but I don't know! At my last check it was about 1/5 engaged but that was nearly 2weeks ago now.

daholster · 09/03/2015 08:27

Some people can tell and others can't penguin. Some people talk about bowling balls between their legs... I never felt that!

1/5 engaged? ie 4/5? Which I seem to remember means 4/5 palpable above pubic bone... 1/5 would be well down unless you flipped it on purpose to make it easier to explain yourself Smile

Sorry you are feeling poorly. Plenty of time to feel better before the weekend. Your last Monday without your baby here to cuddle!!! How exciting Grin Cold or not it will all feel worth it once he/she is here and I doubt you will even care!

Nunkie · 09/03/2015 08:34

Morning All!

Daholster glad your bowels are behaving better and baby has engaged (tho sorry that's set off a host of other issues!)

Penguin for right itchy bumps, I can't recommend Lush's King of Skin highly enough. It's like baby oil, but not as overwhelmingly greasy and smells lovely into the bargain. Oh, and Neutrogena for when the itching is really bad!

Hiccup Update! :0D Hiccups have moved overnight from lower left into my butt, more or less!(?) (Tho still getting what I think are knees or feet pressing on upper right side). What does this mean? Could Peanut have engaged? I still feel
Pretty cramped up towards the ribs..?

Ah, the mysteries of hiccups!Grin

skyra13 · 09/03/2015 08:36

My bump has been low down and midwife said that I was partly engaging, got up this morning an bump feeling really high up so hoping madam had not done some miracle moving while I was asleep! She also being a lazy bump this morning to! Hate it when she goes quiet on me!

I have got to drive DH car today :( it scares me its a lot bigger then mine but need to be taken in for MOT not looking forward to it!

Leaky boobs are my curse this morning!!

PenguinPoser · 09/03/2015 08:36

Yeah I flipped it daholster meant 4/5 palpable 1/5 in pelvis Smile although thinking about it I am sore low down this morning which could be SPD getting worse or could be head going down (I will choose to believe that!)
I think I'm feeling more impatient because I have a date, but then worried incase the induction doesn't work! Need to convince myself my body can do this!

smogsville · 09/03/2015 08:46

Thanks daholster although if she slips it will be a different story so we will now have to keep a beady eye... Glad to hear you're feeling better and nesting is back.

DD's eyes seem fine this morning after the aftershave spraying incident.

No idea about engagement sorry. Never really paid any attention as having section. Mine seems to be lying across me as I get what is probably a head poking out on right hand side at same time as something (feet?) emerging on the far side of belly button. There was one Sat night when I think he moved and had feet somewhere further down as I kept having to go to loo but he's been back in what seems to be position of preference or a good while now.

En route to 4th last day in office! Had better start those handover notes and file my last expenses claim.

Siarie · 09/03/2015 09:07

Right I'm going to have to read up today before we run out of space again!

I'll add my weekend in as I only updated on FB. My DH and friends planned a surprised baby shower on the weekend. I had no idea that anyone would do one as I live really far from everyone now but we travelled back on the pretence that we were just seeing friends for the weekend.

DH did really well, so did my friend and her DP. He had booked a room in a lovely hotel looking out over an iconic bridge, the weather was crazy (sunny!) like the first day of summer. The food was great, we had a nice buffet and then afternoon tea for everyone. My friend had spent ages picking cupcakes and they were lovely, all in it was a really great weekend.

I'm 33 weeks today, only seven more to go (hopefully)!

BrixtonBunny · 09/03/2015 09:15

Siarie that sounds lovely! What a sweet surprise. I've got my baby shower on Sunday, really looking forward to it. Not quite sure what has been planned but I know that some of my lady friends who live outside of London are coming down which will be such a treat!

Daholster I'm so glad you've figured out what was causing the block. How does one have a "no fibre" diet? I can't think what you'd eat (but I'm sure chocolate would still be allowed!)

Smogs your DD sounds very grown up! Very sweet.

Penguin make sure you rest this week, eat lots of delicious food, get lots of vitamins, and generally ensure you are treated like a goddess.

RL20 · 09/03/2015 09:58

Morning everyone Brew

Skyra - leaky boobs here too! Have had them on and off for a while now but last night as I was just getting off to sleep I though I felt a spider crawling on my boob so I quickly felt it and it was leakage dripping on it from my other one Shock quite a lot of leakage it shocked me lol.
Hope lazy bump livens up soon Grin

Penguin - no induction here or anything but I also need to convince myself that my body can do this!
Keep thinking about the birth so much recently, and labour, sometimes panicking myself setting my palpitations off!
Also worrying that what if in labour I set my palpitations off and feel like I can't breathe Confused need to stop worrying! Might mention it to the midwife this week.

Daholster - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today. Envious that you have tidied already! Flat is still upside down but getting there.

Had to take over a weeks worth of clothes washing to my mums yesterday (along with a big box of washing powder) as our washing machine has packed up now Hmm so at least that's out the way, but just seems like a never ending mission to tidy this flat! Probably because I'm on a de-cluttering mission to throw away as many things as possible! Just incase we do move soon, I want it to be as minimal as possible! It has definitely taught me that minimalistic is the way forward, incase of things like this!

Hope everyone else is ok too Grin
34weeks today Shock

FiRaffe · 09/03/2015 10:28

Sairie, the baby shower sounds lovely. We won't get one as we live too far from most of our friends, but as long as we get to see them once baby arrives then that's the most important thing.

daholster · 09/03/2015 10:39

Just walked to the shop pushing dd's trike to get stuff for baking banana cake with dd (hoping grandpa will do it!) And now definitely need a rest! How does it make your bump so sore?! And in patches too!!!

Think dd might be getting a cold... A bit grumpy and rather snotty... Though I think she's teething. And last week she was quiet and a bit sad when daddy went on the aeroplane so maybe she has realised he is gone again and she had such a wonderful time with him this weekend. She even chose him for bedtime story which never happens!

Hopefully grandpa will be here soon and cheer her up.

daholster · 09/03/2015 10:40

PS Siarie that sounds lovely!

Lauren82000 · 09/03/2015 10:45

Grr baby has wiggled down and now my jeans are too tight! Stuck at work so nothing I can do about it but still it's annoying. Will have to slump in my chair to relieve the pressure and hope it doesn't mess my back up too much. Despite baby being further down I'm sat here with heartburn from drinking water! Confused

Smogs if we left DD in the bath by herself there would be water everywhere! I struggle enough to make her get dressed in the morning. She has the attention span of a gnat! The regular threat is she will go out however she is dressed. If that's with or without shoes and pants so be it. Only once have we taken her to nursery without shoes on and she cried the whole way. Think I need to do that again as a reminder of her idleness. Wink she is almost 4 and despite us telling her when she goes to big school and won't dress herself everyone will laugh at her isn't helping. The few days she stayed at my mums she got herself dressed! Maybe need to be more firmer and refuse to help. Just fed up with bring shouty grumpy mummy Sad

daholster · 09/03/2015 10:53

Omg just realised my phone hadn't refreshed and I missed loads of posts! Sorry Blush

penguin I totally agree with brixton - a week of being a goddess!!! Sounds amazing..

RL don't over think it, yes its a not scary when it starts but honestly you just get on with it and your body knows what to do. Just find a calm place and remember every single pain is one less left to do before its all over. And the reward at the end is awesome!

Also... Putting dd's toys away was just the tip of a very enormous iceberg, the study needs clearing of boxes and boxes of clutter to become the nursery (oh and decorating!) And the whole house needs cleaning top to bottom! Shock Think I am going to have to try and do it 20 mins at a time... Interspersed with tea!

And I'm not sure about the no fibre diet... Chicken, potato with no skin, probably white pasta might be OK, cheese and chocolate yes I'm sure!!! Erm, so far today I've only had Pringles for breakfast!!! Think I'll try spag bol with no carrots or onion for tea... Not sure about the deal with meat you see, though I know white meat digests easier than red. Hm. And mince is red!!!

Hooray grandpa will be here in ten mins. Worried dd is ill... She just declined chocolate! Had a little bit and gave it back! Shock

daholster · 09/03/2015 10:55

RL I meant it's a bit scary when it starts...

Lauren sorry its hard work with dd and that you are uncomfy, that's rubbish when you are stuck at work.

smogsville · 09/03/2015 11:28

daholster do take it easy though, don't set yourself back with too much cleaning. Is there any spare money to get a cleaning company in to do a top to bottom clean for you?

DD is v independent in some respects, determined and physically strong but her emotional age is still that of a 3.5yo! And she has to be persuaded not to hold a pencil as if it's a weapon.

Siarie - your surprise shower sounds fab. now I need a cake, ideally a giant wodge of red velvet from the hummingbird bakery with inch thick frosting.

Question on carpal tunnel syndrome. Anyone had it? I didn't have any finger or hand swelling in last preg. Middle and ring finger on left hand are a bit achey today, wondered it it could be CTS? Although wrist seems normal so maybe not. Doesn't sound like there's much you can do about it anyway, just wondered.
