This started as a TTC thread about a year ago, which, as so many of us C'ed, kind of fizzled out Smile. Since then, we've been joined by many other over-35ers to share the joys and grumbles of pregnancy in our decrepitude, and watch first our pubes, then our feet, disappearing from view.....

hexyqueen fantastic cake

AbsInTheClub · 22/03/2015 22:05

I think I am on the mend with the back niggle - don't want to count my chicks, but it feels 50% less bad today! Hope the final 50% disappears after a good night's sleep.

Have started day-dreaming about moving house, so I can have a bigger bedroom and more space for DC2. Is this extreme nesting!!!?

stubbornstains · 22/03/2015 22:31

Don't do it till you've popped!! At a certain point I'm going to have to move, as there isn't room in the 2nd bedroom for 2 children (it's a box room with a slopey roof), plus I'd love a proper garden, but the thought of moving at the moment is just....arrrgh.

I second stubborn, wait! Im in a do-er upper still almost 2 years later & will be introducing a baby (as well as the puppy) into the carnage. Waiting on building warrant then really do get to live in a building site. Should be worth it when done however, bloody needs to be....

AbsInTheClub · 23/03/2015 11:31

Well, with only a little over five weeks til EDD, it won't be happening!

Tilly73 · 23/03/2015 14:55

Can't believe some of you are ready to pop!
I'm 42 now so am sure I'm one of the oldest on this thread, 26+2 today SmileSmile
We are painting the nursery now and have just bought new doors! God knows when we will find time to put them on, the nesting thing is making me a bit crazy as I want to paint the whole house..someone stop me!
Hope everyone is well Grin

Lolababy00 · 23/03/2015 20:07

I can't stop eating today , everything and anything ... Feel like a pot bellied pig now..... Not good !!!
DP took conservatory down yesterday, garden looks so much bigger but really messy. DP says organised mess that's ready for the tip.

stubbornstains · 23/03/2015 20:53

I wonder how inshock's doing? She should only have about 3 weeks to go...

OP posts:
Gingerbreadlady1 · 23/03/2015 21:01

I was wondering that too the other day stubborn.

Tranquilitybaby · 24/03/2015 22:14

Hi ladies, just wanted to pop in and say hi? I haven't got the energy to go back through all the posts, but I hope you're doing well. How's due next?

I'm doing ok, 27 weeks now and getting huge. Still have my fearful days but on the whole very excited to meet this little one. Smile

jojoBaby · 25/03/2015 07:00

AbsInTheClub · 25/03/2015 12:24

Hi, All.

I think InShock is due first, but she hasn't posted in ages.

Good to hear from those of you who have been a bit quiet on here!

Carikube · 26/03/2015 16:40

Good to hear from those of you who are so much further along...makes me realise that the end will be in sight at some point for me too!

9+1 today so still very early days. Went bananas yesterday as turned up for my MW booking appt at 11.30 as it said on the letter they sent me, only for them to say the letter was wrong and my appt was actually at 1.30 (and I was supposed to guess this how?!). Fat lot of use that was to me having had to rearrange my whole work diary (and made up spurious excuse for wandering off for a couple of hours) so have now had to reschedule for 2 weeks time instead. DH went off on one with me on the phone about how unreasonable it was and that I should have put up more of a fight, cue me bursting in to tears and coming over all hormonal (was back at work at this point so not good...). Can't believe that at the ripe old age of 41 I can still crumple like that as I'd have thought I'd be made of sterner stuff by now.

I'm now also on day 3 of caffeine withdrawal headaches. Tea was making me feel nauseous so it felt pointless drinking it for the sake of it, and with DD2 I was told at about 6 months pg to give up caffeine as she had an irregular heartbeat, so I thought I might as well do it now. Please don't let the headaches run in to a fourth day as I don't think I can take any more....

fromwesttoeast · 27/03/2015 10:36

Morning Carikube, and everyone. I'm cautiously joining the thread. It's kind of rejoining actually as I was on a previous version of the thread back in the autumn, with a due date in June, but that turned out to be a mc. I recognise some of the names on here from back then. Good to see you all progressing well
I'm now pg again, 8+3. Hoping this doesn't turn into another mc. I'm 42 by the way. Haven't called GP or anything yet. Taking it very cautious.

Inshock73 · 27/03/2015 12:16

Hello everyone! (huge waves!) :)

Hope everyone is doing well, I haven't posted for a while, been manic with my long commute and finishing up at work, endless hospital appts and scans and going to ante natal and trying to spend quality time with DP etc etc...

Well I'm 37+2 now :) can hardly believe it. Time has flown and baby has proved us all wrong and stayed put despite me being adamant he/she was going to be early. Incredibly aspirin has worked wonders and kicked my placenta in to full working order, baby has gone from being on the 5th percentile at about 24 weeks to being on the 50th now....eeeek! Just hoping he/she doesn't get any bigger the one aspect of being tiny I was looking forward to was giving birth :)

Tilly and West I turned 42 last month so you're not alone :) Woohoo for us 42ers! :)

I need to catch up on everyones news :)

xx

Inshock73 · 27/03/2015 12:16

ps - thank you for asking about me xxxx

AbsInTheClub · 27/03/2015 20:23

Hi, Cari. Hope the caffeine withdrawal symptoms disappear soon. I don't like tea or coffee anyway, and I swore off fizzy drinks a decade or so ago, but I would really love a cheery coke right about now! Mmm. Or a Dr.Pepper.
That is rubbish about the appt time mixup. They should have slotted you in for sure.

Hi, westeast, and welcome back. Sorry about your loss, but really great to have you back (whoever you were!). Grin Fingers crossed.

Ah, Inshock, there you are! And officially full-term! Get you! Are you trying any of the old wives' tales to hurry things along now? A nice small baby would help, eh?!

I'm fine. Found a gorgeous wardrobe to help sort my nesting and storage woes, but it's miles away and courier quotes are way more than I thought they would be, so back to the drawing board I think. 35 weeks, so I haven't got long. I don't like feeling like I am not properly organised, I haven't laid out all the baby's clothes and sleeping bags and nappies etc. Anyone got a white van and fancy a drive with a wardrobe?! :)
I also saw an estate agent coming out of a house in a road I really like! Will watch the website for news, but I can't really move, we haven't even been where we are a year!

AbsInTheClub · 27/03/2015 20:26

*cherry coke, not cheery coke

stubbornstains · 27/03/2015 21:19

Have you tried a company called APC abs? They're who I use for work, and normally charge a flat £12, although when I got my mahoosive tent delivered I think they doubled it...but still not bad. Their size limit is pretty much "anything that will fit in the back of a large Transit", so you might be lucky....

Welcome west!

So glad to hear that all has progressed well inshock....Are you feeling any better about the idea of the birth now? Hopefully you've met some kind and knowledgable people to put your mind at rest a bit....

So loving being pregnant Hmm....the latest woe is getting acute attacks of heartburn. Then the stomach acid surging up my gullet makes me cough, which makes me wet myself. The glamour....

OP posts:
AbsInTheClub · 27/03/2015 21:46

I can't believe it will be that low, stubborn, for a hefty wardrobe, but I will definitely try them for a quote, thank you!

Aw. Hope the heartburn goes soon.

Carikube · 28/03/2015 12:05

abs I think I prefer the sound of cheery coke to cherry coke (we refer to cherry tomatoes as cheery tomatoes in our house having seen them written like that on a menu once). Good luck with getting a van sorted.

Welcome back westeast - I wasn't around when you were here before but I'm pleased to have someone round about the same stage that I am at (9+3 today). I'll be 42 when this one turns up as well. I had a mc before this one and even though I'm now more optimistic than I was 3/4 weeks ago, I'm still waiting for the scan to prove there's actually something in there so completely understand you being cautious.

DH not well so am nursing him whilst dealing with the DDs - so much for a nice relaxing weekend pottering about....

AbsInTheClub · 28/03/2015 15:40

Mm, I do like coke too, especially cheery ones.
Cheery tomatoes, I am so nicking that! :)

Thanks. I think we will give up with the wardrobe I love, even without postage it is £££.

Hope your DH gets well soon.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 28/03/2015 23:02

Welcome back wedt.

I love coke, have moved to de-caf but still feel guilty ive not given it up. Its a bloomin shame we live so far apart abs we've currently got a lovely antique wardrobs we've no space for we're trying to re-home!

AbsInTheClub · 28/03/2015 23:26

I need it, I need it, Ginger!
What's it like and how much?!

I have found a cheap meh one on Gumtree, not antique, but it will do. waiting to hear if they still have it. But it's not great. Does yours have drawers? I need drawers!

This is the one I love:

It's Spring, and the Old Birds are nesting. First hatchlings coming soon!
AbsInTheClub · 28/03/2015 23:29

I gave up coke well before kids, it is horrifically bad for us! I do miss it though! Not saying I am an angel - I still have more sugar than I probably should. Coke would tip me well over that threshold! I may treat myself to a cherry coke one of these days though. I am wild, me! Grin
Gawd, I want one now! Must stop talking about it!

Maybe I will get one in, in case I NEED it during labour! :)
