We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

Yeah layers is what I'm planning on doing. Although slightly confused as to what that means exactlyBlush in the Moses baskets... There will be a fitted sheet. It comes with a coverlet. But other than the fitted sheet. What else should be in there with baby? A vest, sleepsuit and a blanket?

And no broody unfortunately I'm in the UK. So nowhere near gloriously warm... Just random upside down weather as usualGrin

Lewaney3 · 06/04/2015 18:36

fattycow if you don't mind me asking are you in the uk? I'm not too familiar with baby showers although I know they're becoming popular in the UK.

So does it tend to be a surprise party at the mother to bes home?

Fattycow · 06/04/2015 18:40

I'm not in the UK, but in the Netherlands. They seem to be gaining popularity here as well. I knew I was going to get one, as the people I know tend to throw them for expecting mothers now. And yes, they tend to do it as a surprise party at either the mum's home or at someone else's.
Mine is a my home, so I'm going to be there the entire day! I don't want people messing about in my cupboards and taking out the wrong crockery (I have some very special antique stuff that I inherited from my gran when she died and I would be gutted if something breaks). Because I know when it is, I'll just refuse to budge from home. Grin They cannot make me leave my home so that it is a surprise. Also, my DH would never agree to a surprise party for me either, as he knows how upset I would be. So I know when it is, but most of the guests probably don't know that I know.

lewaney, for dd we had the bottom sheet then a couple of cellular blankets to begin with (she was born in March and it was hot hot hot that year!) I don't ever remember using the proper coverlet thing. She was only in the Moses basket for about eight weeks then we moved her into a crib (not anything flash, it didn't move or look glam!) because the basket was so small and I didn't think it was as sturdy as it could be. At about four/five months, we started using grobags as she kicked the blankets off.

Fattycow · 06/04/2015 20:26

We don't have a moses basket.

Yeah Fatty I've had a go, I don't feel it helps much but my pelvis is misaligned so it would hurt regardless.

Clstow, carriers that bring babies knees up above their bum are the most comfortable, so not a bjorn. They're not dangerous (although, if your baby has undiagnosed hip dysplasia it can really aggravate it and cause it to get worse) but very uncomfortable for carrying babies above about 3ish months. I would suggest getting to a sling library to try some out as it's really individual. I prefer wrapping, so basically using a long piece of cloth to tie my baby to me but my husband prefers buckle carriers (Connecta is his favourite brand but there are lots more). More than happy to give advice on slings if anyone is interested :)

We're not buying pramsuits, I did have one for my son (November baby) but never ever used it as we used the sling 9/10 times and if he was in the pram he was perfectly warm with regular clothes and blankets :)

DaleyBump · 06/04/2015 20:54

We do have a moses basket but I doubt it'll get much use, we co-sleep. Will probably use it for daytime naps though. Got a superking bed in preparation for this baby! Right now it's me, my husband and our toddler in a small double, it's a bit of a squeeze. So excited about my new bed.

DaleyBump · 06/04/2015 20:56

Meant to ask, is there a facebook group up? Just wondering, there was one for my last mn birth board :)

Fattycow · 06/04/2015 20:58

There is a Facebook group, which I am sad about. I'm not on Facebook and don't plan to, so I miss a lot of the chat as people seem to go there and ignore here. Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself here! Sad

Our baby will probably be in the play pen for daytime naps. At night, s/he will be co-sleeping. I have a cot with one side of next to our bed. Well, I will have it once I get closer to my due date. And there will be a crib in the nursery for baby as well.

Sorry Fatty! I find it much easier to follow on facebook.

DaleyBump · 06/04/2015 21:00

I would love if someone could add me to it but I'm not sure who to ask!

DaleyBump · 06/04/2015 21:03

Our son has a cot but it's rarely been used, it's just full of clothes to be put away now. We're moving house on Saturday though to a bigger place and I'll set his room up for him. Not sure it'll get much sleeping in but it'll be nice.

Lewaney3 · 06/04/2015 21:18

Good plan fatty it won't be much of a surprise if you refuse to leave. Grin

Thanks for the Moses basket advice. I'm hoping they'll stay in it for a few months and with two of them I plan on placing one on each side of our bed. A lovely newborn each for me and DH to look after Grin

I'm planning on having Moses baskets upstairs. And then a swing crib for downstairs that I'm hoping to lay them both down in during the day.

daley I was thinking the same id like to be added to the Facebook group too as I like to at least read what everyone is up to and catch up on what I'm supposed to be doing in preparation

Fattycow · 06/04/2015 21:22

I found Facebook too cumbersome, as posts move about all over the place and never stay nicely into chronological order in a group.

Whoop whoop for more co sleepers! We've just ordered a super king in readiness for baby as well!Grin

Re Facebook - it's a great group, lots of chit chat, friendly advice/tips, pic sharing and banter. If you send a DM to misseskimo with your name on here, she'll add you to our group and stats xx
