Lovely new thread! Just marking my place so I can catch up.

gingerbreadmam · 17/02/2015 17:01

ive told my dps and one db (i have 4) and two of my very close friends who were very supportive throughout my mmc. not going to tell anyone else at the mo. mainly because dp doesnt want to but u guess it does drag pregnancy out for a very long time when everyone kps asking how you are etc.

not going to tell work until after scan, felt unsupported by then throughout mmc and so they can pee right off this time round lol!

Lifeunexpected · 17/02/2015 17:06

Hi all,

I've been following this thread since I had my BFP (I'm just getting use to all the acronyms!). I wanted to say how reassuring your discussions have been to me. It's helpful to hear that people are experiencing the same symptoms and worries, particularly because I'm not telling anyone until the first scan and I have no one to talk to (other than the husband!). We've been trying for a year and it's so hard not to get too excited.

So, it seems that I'm due 1st October. I'm 7 wks+ 5 and my scan date is the 19th March. Symptoms include sore boobs and constant mild nausea with spells of horrid 'can't move' nausea. Eating seems to help! I did initially have really painful cramps, but that seems to have stopped for now.

Holding off on purchasing anything" but I wish there was a fast forward button!!!

Cineraria · 17/02/2015 17:15

I had to tell my line manager at work due to the problems I had and time I was taking off unexpectedly. Also, I wanted to change my hours to make travelling easier. Apart from that, we really don't plan on telling anyone until after the scan. I know our mums especially would be devastated if anything went wrong and feel it would be easier to cope with if only the two of us know. Last time we ended up having to tell them anyway when things went wrong as we had planned to visit them both the week after the scan and couldn't as I was in hospital.

A good friend of mine announced she was pregnant in December after several years of trying and I am so excited to think of telling her that we've had good news too as she kept mentioning how nice it would be if we had children around the same time.

Toast85 · 17/02/2015 17:24

Hi life!
We've told parents, brother, grandparents, a few aunts, and I have also told my line manager and a couple of others at work too. I work in a fairly physical hospital job, with poorly patients, some of which I shouldn't now see due to potential risks to baby (ie various infections etc) so made sense to speak to a few people at work ASAP and they're very supportive- the majority of my profession are young females so pregnancy is a regular occurrence!
Planning on telling some friends in the next week or two as well. My take on it is that if the worst does happen and the bean doesn't stick, then i'd rather have had chance to share our happiness rather than either A) keep the whole thing from them or B) only get to tell them the bad news without having had chance to share the good! Not making it 'public knowledge' at work/on Facebook until after 12 week scan though.

Cineraria · 17/02/2015 17:32

Forgot to say welcome to all the newcomers. Congratulations!

Feel free to add yourselves to the
October 2015 Statistics Sheet or I will try to add you myself if I manage to stay awake after dinner tonight!

sleepyMe12 · 17/02/2015 17:44

cineraria can you add my stats please I'm in se London have DD 3.10 edd is 11 October thank you.

It nice to see a few ladies not far from me I used to work next to the PRU until last month :)

batfish · 17/02/2015 17:49

Hi lifeunexpected and congrats! Nope you're definitely not alone with your worries, I also want to fast forward! I am 6+4 and saw a heartbeat at a scan at 5+5 - next scan at 9 weeks which I can't wait for (and am also terrified about) as apparently if there is a heartbeat at 8 weeks there is only a 2% chance of mc. I feel so lucky that where I live we get so many scans, I honestly don't know how I would cope with waiting for 12 weeks.

gaggiagirl · 17/02/2015 17:55

bat do you have to pay for them?

We've told no one. After the mc in Oct we are in total pessimism mode. 3 women at work guessed though. That's what happens when you work with a load of mams.

batfish · 17/02/2015 18:24

Yeah I live in the UAE so it's all private healthcare and covered by insurance - they scan at every appointment as can rake in the money from the insurance companies so it's great!

batfish · 17/02/2015 18:27

gaggia I am in total pessimism mode too and haven't even had a mc so can't even imagine how scary it must be for you. If all is OK at my 9 week appt I might start slowly telling people then. But up to now we've only told family, 7 friends who we went on holiday with 2 days after we found out and another very close friend (who is actually in labour right now actually with her healthy baby after suffering 3mcs).

gaggiagirl · 17/02/2015 19:58

bat woweeee! You must fill us in on her birth story. I love a good birth story.
I could pay £99 for a private scan but I think I wont. I'm jolly tempted though.

orangeshortbread · 17/02/2015 20:19

Hi everyone. I thought it was time to say hello! I'm 5+4 and due around 18th Oct with baby #2. It is reassuring to read that many of you have the same worries and symptoms as me.

Toast85 · 17/02/2015 20:36

Hi orange! Yes I think we're all a bit crazy with waiting. How do we get through the next 7 months??

Me too Ga... So tempted. Just not sure if we can justify the cost, it's really only for peace of mind isn't it... Humph.

Twinkletoes007 · 17/02/2015 20:40

lala I will also be around 8 weeks on Mother's Day and love your idea about the books. May well do the same if I can keep my mouth shut until then that is!

I will be just under 6 weeks next Monday and having a scan. Hoping I see a heart beat like you batfish .

I'm really dreading telling work. Been there a year. They can't be that mad can they? Confused I do think they will be surprised - I reckon they thought I was safe bet and wasn't the maternal type. Eek.

Twinkletoes007 · 17/02/2015 20:41

Welcome newcomers and congratulations! X

MrsEvansAlmost · 17/02/2015 20:44

welcome all new bfp'ers!

after panicking for a week that I've but been very crampy its now come back in full force! as well as that dp has lovingly given me.his cough cold!!
how are you ladies doing?

OP posts:
Bambino29 · 17/02/2015 21:05

Hi orange - congratulations! We're actually due on the same day, although it seems an awfully long way off right now!

Really thought that this pregnancy would fly by compared to last time, given that I'm preoccupied running round after a toddler but if the last two weeks are anything to go by, this one's set to feel like forever too!

Hope everyone's feeling well. X

Bambino29 · 17/02/2015 21:06

P.S. get well soon MrsEvans!

MrsEvansAlmost · 17/02/2015 22:00

thanks orange
I told work yesterday they suspected I was pregnant. they took it really well and there's someone from work who is due the same day as me!

how are there symptomless ladies feeling today?

OP posts:
MrsEvansAlmost · 17/02/2015 22:01

sorry I meant thanks bambino is it too early to blame baby brain? Grin Grin Grin

OP posts:
batfish · 18/02/2015 03:32

Still symptomless mrsevans and for the second day in a row my boobs are less sore which is freaking me out, it's my only symptom and it's going away!

Glad work took your news well and how exciting that there is someone else at the same stage! Do you know them?

batfish · 18/02/2015 03:34

Oh and my friend who was in labour hasn't messaged me overnight (anyone would think she had something better to do) - I don't want to message her as she will get in touch when she is ready but I'm dying to know what's going on! She may or may not have had her baby!

Stinkersmum · 18/02/2015 05:49

batfish not found a hospital yet. I have my first scan on Saturday - like you, all private healthcare so they'll pretty much scan you whenever you like! The scan clinic is not a birthing centre though so I still have to do some research on hospitals. KSA is known as the armpit of the middle east. Too much money which gives them delusion of grandeur.... The only thing that's swaying me to have the baby here and not in the UK is for DH's sake. We'll see. I've convinced myself I've already had a mmc. But then I've already chosen in my mind the cot and the travel system. Daft eh?

alien11 · 18/02/2015 07:02

Goodness me I need life to stop for just half hour. Up@6 to take the dog out, now waiting for dd to wake and sort her out, then got to do food shopping, meet Friend at the park for some fresh air, back for lunch, go to appt to get my laptop sorted, drop dd at grandmas, come home cook dinner & tidy. Then dh comes home !
I want to just lay and do morning Sad
Sorry for the rant.

Glad to hear some symptoms are back for people.
My sore boobs have practically disappeared, tiredness slowly declining too, nausea comes and goes.

One question I wanted to ask- how many of you take pregnacare? Only first doc said make sure you take folic acid, one I went to re scan said make sure you take pregnacare. So I started it but since then I feel'clogged' up and the bloatedness is ridiculous!
Only took folic acid with my daughter but according to this other doc now it's pregnacare?

7+1 today. Mw booking appt next weekSmile

I'm getting rather scared of all the extra stuff I'll be doing everyday with no.2. I just hope I can cope with it and dd will be ok as I don't cope well on rubbish sleep
