I agree Sauv... Thank God for half term! I was signed off last week due to cramping and stress (I'm very grateful to the amazing EPU) but am finally feeling perkier and ready to do a few normal things again.

On a sadder note, DH has gone away this morning for work for 10 days. I'm gutted. Hmm

Jessica32 · 16/02/2015 08:20

Strawberry, I haven't had a lot of contact with babies either. Thank god my BF had a little boy 2 yrs ago.

I also don't love a lot of pink, unless it's very pale and more of that warm, creamy vintage tone, not a lot around though. I like new babies in simple white or cream baby grows. I think it looks most comfortable when they're all squidgy and best with their skin tone. I know many people will say I'm boring but I don't care.

I do not want to find out, but this is my first so I guess I don't know how I'll feel when the time comes and they offer to tell us. Must be tempting, hope I can resist. My partner would quite like to but he won't push.

We really struggled with boys names and had lot of girls ones. Think we have some options now though. I like unusual but not far out!

sebsmummy1 · 16/02/2015 08:56

We had one boys name that both of us loved and a thousand that DF said no to. You can probably guess what that name ended up being by my username Wink

This time round the top runners are Arthur, Nate, Alexander, Louie and for girls Harriet, Charlotte and Naomi. I'm not a huge fan of ie or y ending names for girls. Probably because I have a strong name myself and haven't met a huge amount of people that share it. A lot of the Daisy, Poppy, Maisie makes just seen extremely popular to me, although they are pretty!

lovesmycake · 16/02/2015 09:06

Oh I love the name arthur but DH has said no :( and for a girl I really like the name Mabel but can't decide if it's a bit out there? I really want a family name don't know why but DS has his great grandads name and I love how classic it is.

12+1 here still feeling rotten sick 4-5 times a day but it has to end soon right? and we have our private scan tomorrow very exciting and nervewracking :)

itssangriaoclock · 16/02/2015 09:12

Jessica I completely agree with babies being in pure white babygros for as long as poss.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 16/02/2015 09:13

Burst into tears at the station this morning. Had some passport photos done for a visa and look haggard and about 20 years older. So much for 'blooming'...

itssangriaoclock · 16/02/2015 09:13

Loves cake I like Arthur last time but dh vetoed it. I like Mabel I don't think it's too out there it's arguably a classic.

GoooRooo · 16/02/2015 09:19

All the baby gros we have are neutral/white/cream as we didn't know that DS was a boy until he arrived, so we'll reuse those this time. I'm glad I saved everything!

Boys names are a nightmare here too. So hard!

lovesmycake · 16/02/2015 09:21

thanks sangria now just need to get a Norwegian person to pronounce 'Mabel' and see if I still like it Confused If not I could go for a really classic Norwegian girl's name like 'Inge-Borg' Wink

Jessica32 · 16/02/2015 09:30

I love Mabel and agree it's not too out there, think it's on my sister's list as they want children soon. I also love Harriet. My sister loves old fashioned names even more than me. She suggested Arther but don't think my partner will go for it.

mrsdos · 16/02/2015 09:31

We have been disscussing names too, we like Alfred shortened to Freddie for a boy and Freya for a girl. Quite likely to change, but at the mo these seem to be front runners Smile
Had a lovely family day yesterday with dh family, except getting dragged up what seemed like 1000 steps up a cliff face, today is going to be a sleepy day I think

DoctorDonnaNoble · 16/02/2015 09:53

Bizarrely, I'm better at boys' names. Two years ago I negotiated my choice (a lovely Scottish name) by waiting until we were on the way back from Calcutta cup! DH agreed quickly as he as drunk and felt bad for mocking me for losing (again!). He gets his choice for a girl. I may have to bring it up again as with my genes she'd be likely to have her initials as her bra size! (DD!)

StrawberryCheese · 16/02/2015 09:55

lovesmycake I love the name Mabel. It's definitely on my list as a possible but I haven't tried it on DH and I have a feeling he may be difficult. I particularly love the Welsh version Mabli. In an ideal world where DH agreed with every word I said yeah right I would call a DD Mabli Angharad. A kick ass Welsh name just like her mum Wink

sebsmummy1 · 16/02/2015 09:57

I like Mabel too Smile

Treaclepie19 · 16/02/2015 09:58

I've booked a scan for friday as I'm going crazy, I know it's silly but I'm so worried. Especially with my symptoms easing.

On the name front, we're fine for girls names but boys are more of a struggle.

Neither of us love any boys names but the ones we like people have hated. Not that that really matters!

10+2 and the nausea is kicking my butt again. Weirdly finding it hard to drink? My mouth tastes disgusting so things taste yuck

My son was a girl at 20 weeks. I got my choice of name for him in the shock of the moment! Whoop! He was supposed to be Evelyn. Weirdly if we do have a girl ( not gonna happen) I couldn't use the name. Think Bert has stuck for this one, but Bertrand or Gilbert as full name

showtunesgirl · 16/02/2015 10:07

10 weeks on Thursday and I am so unbelievably tired.

DeladionInch · 16/02/2015 10:13

I bought all white for ds.

he looked horrific. I got myself to h+m as soon as I reasonably could for some nice cheerful stuff! that said I rarely put him in blue other than jeans. it takes a while but there is some nice bright stuff put there that's not frilly, beribboned and/or pink Hmm

StrawberryCheese · 16/02/2015 10:15

So how do these pregnancy pillows work then? Do they lie behind you, propping you up so you don't roll onto your back or do they go in front of you? I have mild scoliosis and am waking up with back pain frequently. I don't even have a bump yet.

DoNotDenyMe · 16/02/2015 10:20

lastnight -hope you're feeling a bit better Thanks It is shit sometimes and these bloody hormones don't helpWink
sebsmummy I love the name Seb- one of our favourites - struggling with girls names though!

Treaclepie19 · 16/02/2015 10:40

strawberry there's lots of different kinds. There's V shaped ones, U shaped ones and the dreamgenii which is for front and back.
I've ordered a U shaped one.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 16/02/2015 11:16

With DS I bought a load on the plain white mothercare basics baby gros, we didn't know he was a boy and I figured I'd be using then for number 2. However... I hated them! He looked like an asylum escapee Grin

Suppose I'll use them again as silly not to but will supplement then with some non gender specific animal prints!

Hare5260 · 16/02/2015 11:27

Lots of scans this week Smile
Finally, tomorrow is our 12-week scan....at 11+6. Can't flippin wait!

On the subject of names, my boy name has always been Jacob.... Until one of my besties at work has decided to name her son Jacob, and she's due in 3 weeks....grrrrr!! Back to the drawing board.

ShootTheMoon · 16/02/2015 11:33

I'm breaking out my dreamgenie from last time, my back gets sore otherwise!
9 weeks today and I have my booking in appt later. I'm still feeling shocking - constant nausea and intermittent vomiting. I've just been to buy some acupressure bands as I'll try anything! It remains to be seen if they will work.

I just ate some salt and vinegar crisps though and they made me feel so much better - while I was actually eating them at least.

I am finding this so much harder than first time around. Very strange!

sauvblanc21 · 16/02/2015 11:33

loves I love Mabel!!! Also like Angharad strawberry - I've only ever taught two Angharads but both were gorge and very intelligent Smile

Had booking in this morning, LOVELY midwife! She took urine sample, blood pressure, carbon monoxide reading (!!!) - it was zero thankfully! and what seemed like LOADS OF blood - urgh. I didn't look and took deep breaths but hubbo said I still looked VERY pale and I thought I was gonna vom on the carpet!
She gave me a big pack of leaflets etc to take away - all feeling very real now Grin can't wait to get 12 week scan date! Xxx
