Got my 12 week scan date - mon 16 March, exactly one month after my early scan which is this mon! It's at 2pm so I will need to take another days annual leave for it, but can anyone think of a good excuse to take another Monday off? I feel like if it was Friday it would seem less odd!?

GoooRooo · 12/02/2015 11:19

Tell them you have an emergency dentist appointment Snowflake - everyone knows how awful tooth pain is Wink

Midnight have you got a Surestart centre near you? They're good for groups - and for telling you about other local groups you could go to.

StrawberryCheese · 12/02/2015 11:33

snowflake your 12 week scan is the day before mine Smile Can you not just say that you have an appointment and leave it at that? That is all I'm going to do.

Snowflake15 · 12/02/2015 11:37

Good idea Goo I think I'm over thinking it anyway Strawberry... When's your EDD?

Jackieharris · 12/02/2015 11:41

Laura, when I had a mc a few years ago we just let nature take its course. They didn't even scan me.

Personally I found that much less traumatic that a medicalised route.

Alien- can your DP not do more to let you have some more rest? Your routine sounds pretty full on even without being pregnant!

StrawberryCheese · 12/02/2015 12:16

Snowflake My EDD is 24th September although I'm expecting to be a couple of days out. I'm doubting myself when it comes to the start date of my last period.

Snowflake15 · 12/02/2015 12:19

Aah mines 25th Sept! I expect it may move also even though I'm sure of last period (was using Ovia app)... I hope baby will come in September though, for some reason I dislike October!Hmm

Stanway · 12/02/2015 12:24

Got scan date at last, Friday 27th Feb. Anyone else that day?

StrawberryCheese · 12/02/2015 12:27

I have nothing against October but my brother's birthday is the 2nd so if I'm overdue there's a chance he will have to share Grin.

I only stopped taking the pill in September so my cycles since then have all been different by a day or two. I didn't have time to listen to my body and work out when I was ovulating, didn't expect to fall pregnant this quickly. But very glad!

DeladionInch · 12/02/2015 12:33

midnight I went to a knitting group last pg. ds is the proud owner of the most beautiful cardigans and jumpers up to age 2 and I gave birth in glorious hand knitted sock. and got a couple of cardies and hats plus blanket done myself Grin

Snowflake15 · 12/02/2015 12:34

Strawberry I stopped in November and was very surprised, I still can't believe it to be honest!Grin

Also meant to say I love whichever PP mentioned polos for the commute! Tried it today and managed the whole train journey without having to worry that I was gonna puke on someone's shoes!Smile

GoooRooo · 12/02/2015 12:36

That was me Snowflake. Polos have saved me on more than one occasssion.

StrawberryCheese · 12/02/2015 12:50

deladionInch I don't have anyone in the family to knit things for the baby but I'm hoping to get my sewing machine out and come up with a few outfits or maybe a blanket. I've already seen some lovely fabric, getting a bit ahead of myself!

GoooRooo · 12/02/2015 12:57

I am waiting for my early scan next week and then will start on embroidering a birth sampler and a Christmas stocking for this baby.

I wish I could make clothes or knit!

DeladionInch · 12/02/2015 12:57

my family don't, this was my new lovely knitting friends making presents! I can't wait for 12 weeks so I can get going on tiny longies Grin

Kittykitty05 · 12/02/2015 13:05

Ahh first day in maternity clothes! Got some jeans out to try on and had to accept they fit much better than normal ones, then spotted my maternity jumper and thought, in for a penny etc

mummy I had my dd being sick through Tuesday night, I was up from 12 till the morning, we both spent yesterday dozing on the sofa. Today she's back to normal and bossing me around so will def be at school tomorrow! I'm still knackered tho!!!

ditzzy · 12/02/2015 14:27

DP has just suggested we going on a caving trip for my birthday next month quote "before it's not practical for us to do stuff like that". It actually looks really cool, but right now the idea of a "full day of adrenaline filled adventure including zip wires and free fall jumps" isn't quite what I was looking for.... Now if he'd said a full day of gloriously lazy sleep....?

I'm not just being mean by saying a categoric no am I? Any chance I'll be glowing to that level by the end of March?!!

TheMidnightHour · 12/02/2015 15:21

Gooo thanks for the tip - I think there are a couple I could get to. What sort of thing do they do? The 2 I might be able to reach are both in primary schools and don't seem to have a web presence, not exactly the sort of place to randomly turn up, esp w/o visible bump!

Also, knitting is not so hard - I can send you some patterns that are 'make a square, sew it up like this, voila! cute hat/jumper' (OK, the jumper is 2 squares, 2 rectangles...)

Deladion I would love a(nother) knitting group! The only one I can get to meets once a month, which is nice but Not Enough. I admit I have a bit of a stash of hand knits already (give them as gifts a lot, might keep them all now!) Can't wait to have a little one to wrap in wool & love :)

ditizzy it's your birthday, if you don't fancy it say no! You don't need a reason, but the one you have is about as reasonable as possible, imho. Also, a lot of things won't take you while pg even if it's early and obviously safe, for insurance reasons, so at very least get a written confirmation they'll take you before you book!

misssmilla1 · 12/02/2015 15:35

Had 8 week scan this morning, and all good Grin saw the baby and heard the heartbeat and got some pics. It's so small tho - 1.34cm! crazy to think something like that can cause so many random side effects.

They also did a heap of blood work to test for infections etc (I'm in the US so this stuff is standard) Next scan is in 2.5 weeks where I'll also get the bloods done for the harmony and other chromosomal tests. My OB was telling me it's quite possible we can also find out the gender then too from this

Maths88 · 12/02/2015 15:37

Glad to hear it miss.

Tmi but can anyone suggest anything for constipation that is safe to use? I've tried fybogel but it doesn't really seem to have helped! And I'm really suffering at the moment.

GoooRooo · 12/02/2015 15:37

Midnight I've realised you want to go to groups before the baby arrives - in which case SureStart probably not the best bet. Lots of local breastfeeding groups allow you to join while pregnant though and that's a good way to meet other mums to be so it's worth asking about those.

Misssmilla that's great news!

misssmilla1 · 12/02/2015 15:45

maths I'm resorting to home remedies atm of prunes everyday, plus drinking warm water with lemon in the morning, and then drinking warmish water throughout the day, instead of stuff out of the tap. There's a school of thought that says the warm water helps soften everything up to make it's way out and cold water just basically clenches everything up. I'm a bit Hmm but at this point I'll try anything...

shinjuku09 · 12/02/2015 15:49

Maths peppermint capsules always do the trick for me.

shinjuku09 · 12/02/2015 15:52

Hope you feel better soon Ag.

Thinking of you Laura xx

On second set of antibiotics for chest infection as first set didn't work. Now got terrible diarrhoea along with the worst cough ever, retching and nausea, and sore back from pulling muscles through coughing. Hoping and praying the second trimester will be easier than this or I'll seriously have to put DD in childcare!

shinjuku09 · 12/02/2015 15:54

Also has anyone been to bed as early as me? Last night it was a new record of 6pm! Didn't get to sleep till ten but just couldn't face being anywhere else.
