TheBooMonster · 13/02/2015 19:18

rl I am planning on booking a couple of appointments to get my everything waxed. I figured one early March so that I know what to expect (34 weeks) and one then at 38 weeks to tidy everything back up as it starts to grow if I've not already had the baby. Last time I ended up in the hospital with my fanjo on show rather earlier than expected, the poor midwife basically had to wade through the garden! She didn't say a word (far more grumbling about the hight of my cervix than about the lady garden), but I was mortified and wouldn't let DH or my mum anywhere near the business end!

Ooh, everyone's hospital lists are making mine seem less insane now, I've spilled over to three bags (all for different times and purposes) and was worried I'd gone way overboard, but it's about the same as everyone elses!

LOL for fanjo lights and Lauren lifting your bump to have a root around your lady garden!

Am planning to get a regular bikini wax at around 36 wks when I go on mat leave. Same as last time. I'll be under GA on an operating table with quite a lot of people standing around me so I'd rather be neat and tidy but it's a personal thing innit.

Have left DH to put DD to bed so she is taking the piss quite royally and keeps zooming downstairs on tummy feet first to take another lump of Lego upstairs. Might as well make the most of his last week of being here at bedtime before new job starts.

Thanks for updating the stats Boo. And thanks to everyone who has posted their bag packing lists. I have babies bag packed but mine is only half done so need to get it sorted this weekend. I would have forgotten a towel! And glad I'm not the only one with makeup on my list Blush

Long day at work glad it's over now. Going to make a chicken and spinach masala curry for tea. Saving the romantic weekend takeaway for valentines hehe.

smogsville · 13/02/2015 19:38

I'm not taking a towel. I took one last time but didn't fancy using the delightful communal facilities at the Chelsea and Westminster in the state I often found them in. Shower when I get home will do nicely. Obvs if you think you have a shot at a private ensuite room that's another matter entirely.

TheBooMonster · 13/02/2015 19:41

lol penguin I've seen the pictures me post labour, I look pretty awful, not least because of the PPH, so I figured just a bit of make up would be a useful thing. I've been buying all the Bare Minerals foundations and concealers and compact blushes type things I can get my hands on and experimenting to see what I can get the best results with in the least steps!

Mmmmmm anything that involves curry and spinach is goooood! I made beetroot burgers for dinner, and they were actually surprisingly edible!

ToutDeLeFruit · 13/02/2015 19:45

Thanks for sharing all of the hospital bag lists....I'm far less sorted than I realised!! My DH surprised me at Xmas, one of my Xmas presents was a gorgeous new hold all and inside was everything he researched that he thought I would need in there for hospital, bless him. I haven't really been through it since but looking at these lists there are definitely things I haven't got yet or need to get more of! A job for in a couple of weeks when mat leave starts I think.

I've just had dinner and hoping I can keep it down tonight, I'm getting very sick of being sick :-(

RL20 · 13/02/2015 19:47

Thanks for everyone's replies on shaving, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's thought about it! Grin
I'd love the idea of having a wax but although I've had my brows and legs waxed numerous times, a vajayjay wax seems a bit scary Shock I think I've been scarred for life though from when I got my partner to try at-home waxing on it one time! Ohhh the pain! You can imagine. Needless to say the rest was done by myself- with a razor!
I wonder if Veet hair removal cream would work?

And in reply to whoever it was that mentioned is anyone else scared about the new arrival coming up, I suppose I am! Although I can't wait for him to be here, I'm just scared about labour and birth! Trying not to think about it though because at the end of the day, I've got to do it however he comes! Time is creeping up on me though and I can't believe how fast it's gone by so far!

smogsville · 13/02/2015 20:06

Tout that's so thoughtful of him!

I should add I won't be doing labour so it's not quite as minging not to take a towel as my last post might have made it seem Shock

TheBooMonster · 13/02/2015 20:07

awww tout that's the sweetest thing for your DH to have done! fx on keeping your dinner down!

rl veet hair removal stuff can be used on bikini line but not close to the intimate regions, it hurts like fuck!

TheBooMonster · 13/02/2015 20:12

are hospital showers really the blood bath that everyone talks about? I have no recollection of unclean showers... though I was mostly sponge bathed by a stranger because I couldn't stand until we were on NICU anyway...

RL20 · 13/02/2015 20:14

Tout that is lovely! They can be cute sometimes can't they. My partner orders from Amazon a lot and the other week some parcels came

  • he had ordered a big box of nappies, wipes, a big tub of sudocrem and
RL20 · 13/02/2015 20:16

Whoops posted before finishing..
And a Tommee Tippee little grooming kit thing. I found it really cute! Grin

Also with regards to showering at hospital.. I hadn't even thought of that? ?? when are you allowed to shower etc?

smogsville · 13/02/2015 20:22

I had chance to shower when on postnatal ward but in a bathroom that was available to anyone on the ward and either the cleaning was crap or the other women really vile at clearing up after themselves. Suffice to say I wouldn't have felt any cleaner after washing there.

I bet if you do labour you get to shower in the labour room though straight after baby born?

Will depend entirely on the hospital in question and its facilities. I'm still jealous of Wine's which sounds amazing!

berberana · 13/02/2015 20:29

I don't think it's a given that hospital bathrooms will be grim. I used a private one attached to the delivery suite immediately after I have birth then one on the post natal ward, then I was moved to an en suite private room. They were all completely sparkling and I was never wishing I had a pair of flip flops or whatever ! I guess it does rather depend on who used it before you and how tidy they were but in my experience they were nothing to be concerned about!

Yes, must admit he is very sweet and thoughtful like that. He knows what a stress head and worrier I am and decided to just do it so it was one less thing for me to have to do :-)

Well dinner didn't stay down long, third time today, grrrr!

Yuk, not liking the sounds of hospital showers then. We are yet to do our tour, I'm hoping for the birth centre which is attached to our hospital rather than the actual delivery ward, if all remains well of course. I have no idea what to expect!

PenguinPoser · 13/02/2015 20:37

I've never been in hospital before so have no idea what to expect with the bathrooms etc! I'm lucky though that my hospital is all private rooms on antenatal/postnatal ward and delivery suite and I think they mostly have en suite so fingers crossed!

I'm way too much of a wimp to get a wax... Will have to do with a trim as best I can without being able to see...

Your beetroot burgers sound good too Boo! And ToutDelafruit how sweet of your DH that's a lovely gift Smile

berberana · 13/02/2015 20:55

And on a different note was it Skyla who asked about odd dreams? I have def had more saucy dreams than when not preg... About inappropriately aged men usually. One a 60-odd year old folk singer, then Roger Moore for goodness sake!! Most recently David Mitchell. In the bath. What weird is that they are all very pleasant indeed whilst in the dream. But then I wake up and think WTF???! Why can't I have those dreams about the lovely Frenchman from Mr Selfridge?!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/02/2015 21:08

Hi Littleash789, usernamefeefifoe, ToutDeLeFruit and blackwidow74. Sorry to hear about your loss blackwidow74 :(

Your comment made me smile littlesupersparks :)

Sorry to hear your Dh isn't being particularly in helpful daholster!

Sorry to hear about all those having bad nights, I sleep pretty well when asleep and my boys are pretty good sleepers! I finished babysitting early and was in bed by 11 last night and alarm went off at 7. Had hectic day with lots of children, couple of hours walking round forest and at park and helping Dh building the boys bed.

Newborn/unweaned baby nappies are no probs compared to later!

I think a lot of how children respond to baby siblings is down to personality but you can certainly make it sound more exciting. We had a battle with dss as his mum was bad mouthing his 'half' brother at every opportunity but he was always good with small children/babies. Ds1 totally ignored ds2 pretty much until he moved and ds2 is very excited about this baby and will coo over and stroke any baby he comes across!

Dh is set on Joshua but we will see, I still want Elliot but he won't have it and ds1 would really like Thomas which I also like. Hannah is lovely SquattingNeville :)

Didn't feel I had a choice with either of mine smogsville! With ds2 it was a bath which was hideous and I couldn't wait to get out!

I do mine with dh's hair clippers RL20 with a no1 guard on it so I don't have to worry about catching skin. Will just use mirror.

The showers at hospital were fine when I had mine TheBooMonster. They made me have a bath with ds2, which was horrid because I had to sit in the water and I would have much rather had a shower but it wasn't dirty just bits from me.

I had my usual all off wax this week, should put me in good standing for two more appointments up to the birth. Honestly it isn't that painful, I mean before pregnancy i would rate it 2 out of 10 on my pain scale. Now I'd say maybe 4? Depends as some appointments have been a 2.

So either I have a high pain threshold or you ladies need a decent beautician doing the procedure! The ladies who I go to always apply pressure to the area immediately which stops any pain. Also they use hot wax which hardens then you pull the wax off instead of the strip method.
