Thankyou smog. I'm annoyed with myself as I was only at Asda earlier, I should of asked the pharmacist there!
Will try and get over to Boots tomorrow if I can. If not, it'll be a trip to my local chemist to ask them.

TheBooMonster · 12/02/2015 20:37

rl I second nunkies suggestion. It's my go to at the moment!

smog I would love a giant coffee machine thing! Turns out the beast has a coffee grinder attachment which has made my day!

daholster · 12/02/2015 20:46

At work feeling really nauseous and icky... Yuck. Feel like I could sleep for a week...

Hidingthefear · 12/02/2015 20:48

Welcome to the April gang ladies, I'm another first timer too :) living "up north" and due 13th April.

RL20 I found some natural yogurt with honey was brilliant (as I don't like lemon water or teas). I also found that eucalyptus oil in hot water or on a tissue to smell was a great help for breathing and is safe in pregnancy too.

he's been for a couple of interviews but no job just yet. That's kinda the approach I've been going for whilst still trying to play the supporting wife part. Like...Could you not just hang on until baby is here because you won't get paternity leave at a new job or be able to just take time off. Hopefully when he sees how challenging a newborn is he'll realise how good he has it working there.

I think I'm finally kicking this gastroenteritis! Managed to eat 4 fish fingers and some peas for tea which is my first meal since last Fridays breakfast. Then it's a friend's birthday tomorrow who wants to go franky and bennys, I don't quite feel up to eating a proper meal just yet but we'll see. It will be the first time were here for his birthday as usually me and DH do something for our anniversary (14th feb) but seen as we got married last year that makes our anniversary may instead of Feb (even though I'll still be counting Saturday at as 8 years together)

Thanks for the replies on the sore throat situation! Will have a think and see how I feel when I wake up with which option to go for. Hoping it doesn't get any worse overnight!

Daholster sorry you're feeling like that! What time do you have to work until? I work until 7pm so it's not too bad but even by then I'm feeling like I'm definitely ready to go home and relax, so I can't imagine how you're feeling

skyra13 · 12/02/2015 21:11

Glad I'm not the only one suffering with the breathing seems to get worse if I get to full from eating also of a night and trying to sleep I now sleep sitting up lol Grin
Anyone got any fun plans for valentines day? X

Wineandchoccy · 12/02/2015 21:20

Welcome newbies!

I have been on the birthing centre tour tonight and think I want to go there so as long as baby turns around and classed as low risk at 36 weeks I will be booking in. Private rooms all with pools, patio doors leading to gardens to walk around and there is a small ward for afterwards or 2 private rooms with double beds so DH can stay. You can stay between 6 hours and 3 days depending on how you feel.

We are going for an Italian tomorrow night for valentines night as we have my nephew staying Sat night because my SIL is in hospital, he is 9 and I've told him he has to bring me flowers and chocolates otherwise he can't stay, evil Aunty Grin

PenguinPoser · 12/02/2015 21:30

Hello to new names Grin

RL20 I had some Halls soothers the other day for sore throat - I checked the packet and they didn't seem to actually have any medication in them and nothing to say to avoid if pregnant.
Wine your birthing centre sounds lovely.
Daholster hope you're feeling ok, it's could be tiredness making you nauseous. Roll on the weekend after your horrible shifts.

We will probably end up with a takeaway and TV for valentines! Went for a meal last year to one of our fave places but weren't aware until we arrived that they had a set menu on which isn't what we would have normally chosen, end ended up spending twice as much as we normally would have for a meal there, so wasn't very impressed!

daholster · 12/02/2015 21:33

Shift is til midnight but it's quiet so colleague says I can go at 10... Don't know if I can face tomorrow at all! Lots of contractions today and odd discomfort, and backache. Settling now but replaced with this nauseous tired tired ick!

Hi newbies! I always whinge... Wink

Lauren82000 · 12/02/2015 21:37

DH is cooking for us on Saturday. He is pretty bad at cooking (or too lazy to cook) and needs talking through every step but I'm forcing him to do it instead of spending money on crap presents like he normally does. (I'm not ungrateful but he has known me long enough that I don't like the gimicky crap that comes out around this time, much rather have something thoughtful or nothing at all)

I just think he is going to need the practice if I have to stay in hospital for a while or end up having an emcs. Then he's going to have to feed all 3 of us and beans on toast or cereal just won't cut it. Wink that's the thought behind it anyway.

TheBooMonster · 12/02/2015 21:43

skyra Our plans for valentines day involved DH and FiL fitting carpets whilst MiL looks after DD and I rest on the sofa, it's thrilling stuff! DH let me open the parcel that came today though, so I already have my valentines present! I now have all of the natural Birthing Company products apart from the cooling spray so I am a happy lady!

daholster it's fab that your colleague is letting you leave early, how long do you have before maternity leave?

wine I'm immensely jealous of your birthing centre!!

April 2015 Thread 10: full of chatterboxes, only 2 months to go...
smogsville · 12/02/2015 21:45

Lauren, i hope your plan comes off.

I just saw the m&s vday ad, those scallops look lovely! I'll get DH to cook me a risotto I think and I poached a quince and some apples that weren't eating well earlier which will go into a pudding of some description.

Er, Wine, where do you live?! Sounds like they're putting on the ritz for you. Good - I'm glad someone's going to have a nice postnatal NHS experience! Fully expecting mine to be the traditional central London jungle, I'll stay one night and then I'll be out as quick as can be (all being well).

Wineandchoccy · 12/02/2015 21:58

Ha ha Smogs I live in Lancashire, there are 3 birthing centres all within 45 mins. 1 attached to the hospital and 2 stand alone units that are all lovely but tonight's was a very relaxed and calm environment.

daholster I hope you are getting your coat and preparing to leave you sound like you need a rest.

Baby feels like it's twanging something inside I've got an odd sensation that is making me wince.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/02/2015 22:03

Hi MoonminMama22 and LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar!

Yes skyra13, I struggle to talk and run now and feel more puffy if I walk fast. My baby is very high so I think that makes a difference.

I got my boys some blackcurrant glycerine pastilles when they were ill a couple of weeks ago and they really help me RL20 but only when you're sucking them!

Siarie · 12/02/2015 22:05

I have the breathing issues, really did it at lunch by over eating. I couldn't catch my breath all afternoon (although my nap helped).

Me and DH are off out tomorrow evening for a nice meal up high in central London, it's our ten year "together" anniversary today but he's working away. It's been a quiet night! Should be better on a Friday anyway.

I've even got a pretty maternity dress to wear!Smile

Lauren82000 · 12/02/2015 22:11

Ive been having the twanging too Wine. Been particularly prominent the last couple of days since the baby changed position to head down but I have had it on and off all the way through. It's a very odd sensation isn't it. It doesn't hurt hurt but like you said makes you wince a bit. Smile

smogsville · 12/02/2015 22:45

Sounds immense Wine. Jelbags!

daholster · 12/02/2015 23:12

Home and argued with dh cos he says I'm unpleasant to be around, I should stop. I said I don't think he realises how exhausted I am. He said its because he is too. I replied that I don't think he is as exhausted as me actually (didn't go down well of course). I told him deja r simply not had any time together for days. He's just on his work computer all the time when we are both here, and he crossly said it's because he's really stressed at the moment... I know, I said.

Silence since. The house is so much of a state I had to clean a knife to make a sandwich when I got in!!! I need just a few days to sort all this!!!

Part of the reason I'm arsey is because I know we both feel knackered and stressed but he has time out booked - this weekend and last - and I don't have any.

And a holiday with the boys in early march. And actually I don't want any of that, I just want time actually with him and dd before ds arrives. I don't want to make him feel guilty by saying that though. He'd probably try to cancel some of his plans and I don't want that either!

Off to bed without him, he's still working.

Night night all

daholster · 12/02/2015 23:16

I told him. Well, his response has been underwhelming Sad

I wish men could multitask and actually think about talking and conversing.

So I'm still going to bed sad and cross!!!

Siarie · 12/02/2015 23:23

wine your birthing centre sounds like the one I'm hoping to go to. I haven't booked a tour yet but it's nearby and done like a home from home setup.

There's only five rooms, birthing pools, a double bed, all the gear for giving birth, balcony and birthing partners can stay. You stay in the same room the whole time and leave when you want (unless they need the room). You have to be low risk though so we will see, if not it will be off to the hospital.

littleash789 · 13/02/2015 02:04

Hello, another newbie here! >waves<
Due a little boy on April 6th, feel like I have been pg forever! The end is in sight!

PenguinPoser · 13/02/2015 06:16

Hello littleash! Hope you're keeping well. Is this your first baby?

33w today can't believe it. Not looking forward to a long day at work. It's too hot there makes my already swollen feet swell and me more itchy! Ah well.

Daholster hope you feel a bit better this morning. I know you have another long day coming up too. Not surprised you're stressed and exhausted, I definitely couldn't do it now I think I would break. Make sure you eat, have plenty of Brew and look forward to the morning.

littlesupersparks · 13/02/2015 06:29

I'm also super breathless. I feel like such a loser when I get to the top of the stairs. I have horrendously painful ribs on the right hand side - it makes me wince. I asked the sonographer and all four of their legs are up there!!! My bump is very high. I'm only 5'4'' and it's a struggle to squeeze than in. Somehow twin 2 has found room to spin around and is lying breech bent double with her legs in the air whilst twin 1 is tucked tidily out of the way to the side! I think we can already tell who the trouble maker is!!!

skyra13 · 13/02/2015 07:08

Loving all your valentines plans :) I get to spend the evening alone today as husband working late at school doing an astronomy night! And valentines day will be take-out as eat as much till I can not breath lol :)
Off out to get a box of crispy kream doughnuts for valentines pressie I may have to eat some though Grin
How is everyone getting on with buying everything do you feel ready? Have you planned a nursery? Mine is partly finished waiting for some bits from Amazon to finish it off :)
