Firaffe yes it was the itching, apparently it's more commonly on hands and feet but mine was just all over, if in doubt get your bloods checked.

Boo so exciting I love seeing the little clothes hanging up to dry!

smogsville · 12/02/2015 18:06

Boo - do you really think you'll use the blender thingy? I know I wouldn't after the first flush of enthusiasm!

Minipie - thank you! Yes at least he will have nearly two months that's a good point. And his new boss has two young daughters so will hopefully 'relate' and at least feel sympathetic when poor DH slopes in, eyelids propped up with matchsticks...

My work is quite a commute away -other side of London. It's doable ATM bc mum comes to our place on my office days so I just get up and go. I don't have any responsibility for getting DD up, dressed or to nursery on those days. Mum doesn't really want to do it all over again with a newborn as my dad is allegedly going to retire this year and they want to be free to go off for a month or longer at a time to explore far flung places which obviously doesn't work if you're committed to looking after a baby and getting a 3/4yo to nursery two days a week.

I defo can't be arsed with getting up at six in the morning to drag DS off to a different nursery and leaving him there for 12 hrs a day twice a week, picking him up en route home, being late for pick up when tube breaks etc. DD's nursery and the school she will probably go to doesn't start until 9 and is in the opposite direction to the more 'daycare' style one that's near the tube.

However I do want to find a job maybe when this baby is 18 months or 2. Something PT or mainly from home. I like having something just for me that's got nothing to do with DH or kids. One of my old directors has set up by himself and mentioned he might have a role for me but that will depend on how his new business performs of course. He's rather more enlightened about working from home too whereas it was a massive stretch for current boss to agree to one WFH day so could work well in theory - we'll see.

Mammoth post sorry!

I'm another newbie - was just thinking the same thing so thought I'd follow! I'm due my 1st on 7th April!

HI!

Nunkie · 12/02/2015 18:19

Hi, Cat and Moomin :0D

(Cat, your due date is the same as mine! I wonder who'll be first past the post! Grin

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 12/02/2015 18:23

How exciting! Can't wait!!!

Nunkie · 12/02/2015 18:30

Yeah, its going to be very surreal to finally meet that small person that's been kicking and pummelling our insides for the last few months :0)

(though one bit i can wait for is the bit where i suddenly find I have to go for a poo in front of a room full of medics!! ;0)

BananaToast · 12/02/2015 18:46

Welcome LittleGreyCat and Moomin Smile

Nunkie chances are you'll never know if you poo'd or not. I'm convinced I did with DD but no one mentioned it and DH wasn't paying attention so he doesn't know if I did either. Smile

My back is killing me and bump is still aching Sad beginning to wonder if I have trapped wind as that give me tummy ache sometimes and can go up your back.

TheBooMonster · 12/02/2015 18:58

Welcome cat and moomin come on in! The more the merrier :D Have you popped yourselves on the stats thread?

smog well I am committing the sin of not really eating breakfast at the moment, and when I do it's mostly yoghurt, and mum is a bit concerned about my yoghurt habit! I can't stomach bowls of cereal, or toast, or breakfast bars so I really need something for breakfasts, especially as I can't really be cooking bacon and mushrooms and beans for breakfast every morning when I've got a newborn and and a two year old to look after, and at least with smoothies I can add in tonnes of breastfeeding friendly oats and flaxseed. I also really don't like bananas so I need to be able to control what goes in. Yes I would use the machine, but can I justify it when we have the food processing beast in the kitchen....

TheBooMonster · 12/02/2015 19:02

nunkie if you do go for a poo they've seen it all before! I'd worry more about your DP, especially if he's the sort who thinks it's a hilarious thing to bring up in conversation!

MoominMama22 · 12/02/2015 19:08

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
Boomonster - no I've not put myself on stat thread what is that and how do I?

And what's wrong with yoghurt!?!?Shock

Xx

skyra13 · 12/02/2015 19:13

How is everyone doing and how is everyone coping with breathing due 6th of April an really struggling with breathing!!
Anyone from Kent Maidstone area? X

Lauren82000 · 12/02/2015 19:23

Breathing doesn't seem to be much of a issue for me although I have noticed I get out of breath a bit if I waddle too fast. I am a bit further behind you though so it may happen to me yet. It's pretty normal to get breathing issues towards the homestretch.

Nunkie · 12/02/2015 19:29

Hahah - thanks for the poo-reassurances Lauren and Boo!
I suppose it's the last thing that will bother me in the moment! (Sure my friend said something about her DP being assigned the job of netting floating poos out of the birthing pool! I am hoping to use one if all goes well, so maybe I need to tell him a trip to the Fishing shop is in order! :0D)

Skyra I get out of breath v easily compared to how I used to, even still exercising regularly :0) I also went thru an odd couple of weeks where I sometimes felt on the verge of a mild panic attack, tho distracting myself with something usually helped and the feeling seems to have passed. Anyone else get that? (I read hormones can aggravate that feeling).

FiRaffe · 12/02/2015 19:36

Welcome new ladies (note to self- must update stats thread when on laptop not phone )

I've woken up a couple of times with mild panic attack type symptoms....I always seems to be on my back which I don't think helps. Breathing isn't too bad at the moment, but having to heave myself up the stairs at work in the afternoon when I have to go to loo!

AnniaFausta · 12/02/2015 19:45

Penguin, that is both worrying and reassuring - at least they're keeping a tab on it!

Tiny, fingers crossed all goes well.

Cinnammon, I grrrr on your behalf.

Hello newbies!

Nunkie, yes, it's going to be so odd to have this little person out and about rather than pummling the internal organs - both more comfortable, but also a lot more work...

Have to say I'm really starting to notice the bump getting bigger now... six weeks until I'm on maternity leave, the start of the year's just flown by and it still feels like there are a dozen work things I need to make sure get done before that happens!

smogsville · 12/02/2015 19:51

Boo in that case buy it, obviously. And if your OH complains, LTB. Obviously. The thing about food processors is they don't produce the same consistency as blenders.

Yes I get out of breath much more quickly now. We live at top of a big bad hill and coming up from the tube is always a bit of a shocker I have to do proper exhale through mouth, inhale through nose to get to the top. Not embarrassing at all.

Am about to merrily murder DD who is pissing about and not going to sleep straightaway. Unacceptable.

Welcome newbies.

TheBooMonster · 12/02/2015 20:08

smog DH is in a propper grump, mentioned the magical tool and he went into full on Angry so I'm going to use the beast every day, noisily and annoyingly and taking up as much space as I can so he begs me to buy the magic tool :P He's currently throwing round DD's toys in the living room after having ordered me to lay back down on the sofa eats more yoghurt whilst buying baby bundlers He did buy me a mountain of fruit when he went to Morrisons though, so I think he at least sees the sense in me eating breakfast...

moo the problem with yoghurt is I don't normally eat it and I know it doesn't play all that well with me but I can't seem to stop myself during pregnancy. DD was initially lactose intolerant and mum entirely blames my obsessive yoghurt consumption. also stats thread :D

smogsville · 12/02/2015 20:18

Just lie down and let the man noise wash over you Boo.

Having said that we had opposite scenario at Casa Smog - DH wanted to resurrect his enormous Italian coffee machine which is more suited to a cafe than a normal domestic setting. I barely drink coffee so was ready for a fight but got lucky as it is broken and fixing it involves expensive repair with a company in deepest Park Royal and uncertain outcome. He seems to have forgotten about it so I expect it will now live in the loft until we move.

RL20 · 12/02/2015 20:19

Evening everyone!
Welcome to the newbies, I've noticed there a couple of new names. I'll re-introduce myself (well, my bump anyway!) I'm currently 30+3 and expecting a baby boy Grin

Hope everyone's ok. On the subject of breathlessness, I've been suffering with it a little bit too, although not majorly. I have noticed though when I lay down or lay back slightly, I feel like everything inside is pushing up where I feel a bit restricted and can't breathe as well as normal? Like as if my necks all squished up?!

Also, do any second timers have any natural remedies for sore throats?!
I've come this far with headaches and slight heartburn etc without taking any medicines so I really don't want to start now!
I woke up with a sore throat and dry cough this morning (my partner opened the bedroom window last night before bed for the first time in a while, so I'm guessing it could be that) and I've been drinking fluids as much as I can but other than that is there anything else I can do?
I'm going to put out a thread for it anyway, but would appreciate it if any of you ladies known of anything that could help?! Thanks!

Nunkie · 12/02/2015 20:26

Hey RL20 - sorry you're suffering with your throat. For colds (and I imagine it could work for throats too) I always go for squeeze of fresh lemon and LOADS of honey in hot water, with a good bit of ginger grated in. (Normally I would say a sprinkling of chilli flakes too if it were just a cold, but you may not fancy that on a sore throat. And a dash of brandy. Tho a very small one under the circumstances :0D)

Honey aside, I have often found it helps to steer clear of sugary stuff an drinks too, as it seems to make my throat feel worse after a while - tho maybe it's just me.

smogsville · 12/02/2015 20:33

RL - boots sell a brand of lozenges called Jakemans. I've found the lemon or blackcurrant ones provide a bit of menthol relief. They're not medicated so allowed in preg (I double checked with pharmacist).

RL20 · 12/02/2015 20:35

Hi nunkie. Hmm maybe it's not a good thing that I've been drinking Ribena then!
I have neither honey nor lemons so I'll have to pop and get some tomorrow! Thank you
