maybe we should get that sci-fi book and find the weirdest possible to tell MIL we're naming the baby... should make what we really decided ages ago more of a relief to her!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 21:18

I asked dh if we could change ds2's name by deed poll SquattingNeville, as I really couldn't get used to it. Took me a good 18months before I really liked it! He thought I was weird but I just knew ds1's name as soon as I saw him when it wasn't on our list of possibilities and didn't have that with ds2 so it felt wrong.

kismac · 05/02/2015 21:35

I feel the need to pee all the time! Stop using my bladder as a pillow please. Naughty baby.

Hidingthefear · 06/02/2015 07:37

That would be a good idea wouldn't it boo. Didn't think about calling them penguin Fed up of the text messages and Letters.

kismac I keep getting bouts of that. Sounds odd but sometimes I get a jolt of pain discomfort that feels like it's in my lady parts. Stomach is hurting this morning due to wretching so hard at the smell of the kitchen bin :(
tfi Friday!!!

Names cause so much stress !

My first child has an unusual name, that came about because Dh joked he'd be able to spell it! It was a compromise, because I wanted something unusual and dh wanted something he thought was more classic.

Ds1 I chose his name. I don't know why I was given complete freedom with his name but I named him after a character in a book I read whilst pregnant!

Ds2 I had antenatal and postnatal depression and his name is the most 'usual' I guess. He is named first name after my grandad and middle name after my dh.
Dd2 I think my mum named. She has a pretty but quite common first name and her middle name is my mums name .

As for this baby... My mum and husband took some persuading to have another child and my mum said I could only have another one if I called it Tiger. I'm sure she thought it would put me off! I am sure she was only joking, but dh LOVED the name and so it stuck! And it does suit her xd

kismac · 06/02/2015 08:12

How are things today dances? Did you get a cuddle?

BananaToast · 06/02/2015 08:15

Just ordered an isofix base - the price had gone up on John Lewis a week or two ago but it's back down again today so have put my order in quickly! £90 for an easyfix base if anyone else is looking to buy one. Hoping the same happens for the actual seat, but not betting on it as they seem to only be stocking the 'new season' colours (ie a slightly different shade of black).

FiRaffe · 06/02/2015 08:24

Glad you got it at the good price Banana. We ordered our car set from Amazon on 3rd Jan, but still no expected delivery. Other places do it (£20 more expensive) so i'll give them to the middle of March I think then panic buy one elsewhere!!!

Lauren82000 · 06/02/2015 08:41

Oh god I'm the worst mummy ever. Was running late this morning and shoved DD in the car and started defrosting the windscreen. Got all the way to nursery and she then told me I hadn't put her seatbelt on! Confused So by now everyone at nursery will know I didn't do it and DH will find out later on when we get home. Can't decide if I should confess first or hope she will actually forget. Blush It's obviously something that's going to stick in my mind so ill never do it again but stupid pregnancy brain!!! I'll have to teach her to put it on herself. Wink

TinyTear · 06/02/2015 08:45

If she is anything like my daughter she won't forget... My one still tells everyone of the time I didn't strap her in the buggy and tipped her over!!! It was nearly a year ago!!

Fi that's a long time to wait - have you chased it up?

Lauren these things happen but I'm sure your DD will delight in telling everyone - you've probably made her day! Try not to worry.

Lauren82000 · 06/02/2015 09:00

I know she won't keep quiet she still goes on about the time we were at the zoo and a birdie bit daddy's finger! (It was a seagull trying to nick his sandwich) she was about 18months at the time. So almost 2 years ago. They never forget! It was just wishful thinking on my part. Blush

dancestomyowntune · 06/02/2015 09:01

Yes Kismac I managed two cuddles yesterday! And I even got to change her nappy (not easy through the portholes on the icu cots!). She is still doing extremely well, and hopefully today they will make a decision about nutrition (although already they have given her some of my milk they need to supplement it with lots of calories). I am just waiting to move beds onto the postnatal ward and then I am going to go and sit with her.

Nunkie · 06/02/2015 09:05

Hello everyone.. Wow - huge congratulations Dances on the arrival of your daughter!!! :0D

Hope everyone is well (having difficulties catching up with the thread, as usual!)

Couple of questions:

Buggies: has anyone got an Armadillo Flip or Flip XT? Had a gander in Mamas and Papas the other day, and it looks like a solid all-rounder - love the one hand collapse mechanism and big hood. (Bit of a funny looking pram tho!).
At the minute I'm kind of veering between splashing out for that or just grabbing a second hand Zoom off gumtree just to get started then see what we need of a buggy once Peanut has been here a while... cos that seems like it could be a sensible approach as folk often seem to change their buggy anyway once they've had baby awhile..? (In any case, we are more concerned to spend money on a quality car seat initially. I hear Cybex are particularly good.)

Other question: anyone else got slightly reduced platelet count? I did have at my last appointment and midwife didn't seem overly concerned, but said she would test again next time. But I have since been wondering if there's anything I can do (or eat - ha!) to boost it? I assume not, or she would have said? Interested to hear anyone else's experience. (my iron had also dropped slightly from 12 something to 10 something so I'm on a supplement.. but the two are unrelated aren't they..?)

Anyway, thanks in advance - and congrats again Dances!

Ps: was it Penguin that was worrying about not knowing anything about how to look after the baby when it arrives?

I'm with you on that! Friends have been super-helpful (why is it all my male and gay friends know how to change a nappy yet I don't? :0D) and I found a look thru the Haynes baby manual quite reassuring even tho it's meant for blokes! :0D

Getting exciting now... loving Peanuts increased kicks and rolls!
And can't believe people's generosity in donating baby clothes and stuffs - I feel like I've joined some secret society of freeloaders!!

Peanut is wriggling now - they obviously know they're being talked about!

Lovely news dances, glad to hear she's doing so well. Hope you're recovering ok from the c-section and postnatal ward isn't too bad.

kismac · 06/02/2015 10:10

Aww that's great dances.

Siarie · 06/02/2015 10:13

Ooooo my 4moms Mamaroo is being delivered today! We waited until now to order because they've just released a new version which is controlled by an app on your phone!

Looking forward to playing with that later, maybe one of my teddies can take a ride in it

Lauren82000 · 06/02/2015 11:09

Really must stop reading my book and get some work done! I've been so naughty today at work but it can't be helped when your sat on your own in a library with no students in its far too easy to sit and do nothing.

Great news about cuddles Dances and I applaud you for your nappy change krypton factor style Wink

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/02/2015 11:46

my car seat is out for delivery... but still showing expected delivery date as tomorrow

So it'll probably come when I'm on the school run this afternoon, won't it? ;-)

Siarie · 06/02/2015 11:50

Well I'm eating a bowl of chips and ketchup that I just found in the freezer, I'm not even sorry.

Ebwy It will deffo come when you are out! My old place I used to stay in all day waiting (usually having taken the day off work) and I would need to pop out for something that I had totally forgotten. Then of course I would miss the delivery! Literally ten minutes to go pickup junk food and I'd have a nice little slip in the postbox.

Now though we have a concierge reception downstairs and they sign for all the parcels so I don't actually have to be in unless it's a huge parcel which they can't store. Trying to decide whether this one will be too big, suppose it depends how it's packaged :D

Lauren you work in a library? That would be really easy to be distracted! I would probably end up sleeping when its quiet haha
