Thanks re: PPH
Ah Boo I'm all arrr over the idea of your tiny DD. Didnt you post a pic of her wearing your sling? My sling arrived. Cat will be in it soon.
Bad that they didn't check u tho Boo. Same thing happened to my best mate. BF didnt work due to PPH which they didn't pick up on. She was q ill.
C your poor ole uterus, you must've been so tired. I didn't realise how tired I felt with the anaemia until I no longer felt tired. Then I looked back and thought bloody hell. For me it was low ferritin. Did they mean your ferritin was 2 Siarie?
It's curious and worrying how easily the hb levels can be adversely affected. I had a heavy bleed at 14w and they said (I was abroad) hb was too low to fly. And I'm on four iron tablets a day (don't know if that will help if I did have a PPH)and that wasn't even a birth. Crazy.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 15:57

Ds1 wants to name our baby Thomas SquattingNeville but at least it is a boy! I actually like it but it's dh's Middle name and he really doesn't like it.

Dh's only suggestion is Joshua which I like and ds2 has now latched onto. I realise you have no control over what others call your children when they're older but if we name him Joshua I'd like to call him that and I think Dh will probably use josh which I'm not so keen on so perhaps it won't be. We won't decided until he's here anyway.

I was induced but midwife read mine Lauren82000 because she actually said did I realise I couldn't have a natural third stage which I didn't say at any point I was there.

That's all very well Squidge14 but I'm not sure how up to answering questions you will be in your labour which is why it's handy to have it written down or for Dh to know what you want :)

TheBooMonster · 05/02/2015 16:03

chicken yup, that was her wearing the sling, she's still diddy, she wavers the line between 9th and 25th centiles but here she is in the hospital, all of 2140g (4lb7)

Boo my hospital has facilities for donated cord blood, which is why I thought it seemed like a good idea. What limited info I read in a leaflet they gave me said that we have to give consent in advance as they need to be prepared for it but it won't affect birth options etc. I figure if it can be used to help someone in future it makes sense to donate rather than discard it.

Love everyone's names - I wanted Max but can't use it for various reasons. Also like Joshua but DH isn't keen. Think we're fairly decided on Oliver or Noah. I had loads of others I liked but some have been used by friends/family so I'd like to avoid, others that are lovely and nobody has used yet DH doesn't like.

TheBooMonster · 05/02/2015 16:19

ahh! banana I have my best jealous face, none of my local hospitals seem to have the set up for doing anything remotely useful with the cord and placenta!

ChickenMe · 05/02/2015 16:20

Aw so delicate Boo and love the little blanket with monkeys

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 16:27

Urgh... just opened an appointment card and they've made me an appointment at the midwife care clinic at Addenbrookes at 11.45am when my scan is 3.30, how frustrating. Just called to try and move it and it just rings and rings, can they really all have gone home just after 4?

ChickenMe · 05/02/2015 16:40

They prob have buggered off due to a threat of snow or something? How annoying. When's the scan, what day?

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 16:45

Tues 17th, both appointments are the same day but nearly 4 hours apart at a hospital an hour away from home! In a city well know for terrible traffic. I have the day off as I e moved minded kids around so was hoping to do something with my boys in the morning as its half term and I'm working the rest of the week :(

Hidingthefear · 05/02/2015 16:49

thanks squidge ;) Oscar is lovely. Someone suggested that name to me and I on;y vetoed it because I used to have a hamster called Oscar when I wsa like 13. Like that even matters! funny the things that stop you choosing names. (although my cousins dog is Max and that doesn't bother me)

I did ask about anaemia and B'fding coz i'm on 210mg Ferrous Fumerate 3 times a day at the moment, with 3 weekly blood tests, but GP just said should be fine but i could be more prone to sore/cracked nipples etc that take longer to heal but not to let it put me off (he was a bloke though so maybe he was blasé becuase he's never had to do it lol). apparently it takes 4-5 months for your body to actually build up a store of iron so it might take a while for them to take affect.
I am sooooo tired today, feel like a zombie (parenting preparation me thinks!). woke up on my back a couple of times in the night not able to breath properly so i think it disturbed my sleep. my own fault for moving my maternity pillow :(

good link boo sadly non near me or I would have done. I keep getting reminders to donate blood and I feel guilty and want to tell them "im not ignoring you but i'm pregnant" Hopefully if i can sort the anaemia out I can be back to donating next year.

What a nightmare with appointments cinnamon!!hope they answer the phone tomorrow.

ChickenMe · 05/02/2015 16:54

Yeah they have to change that cinnamon, how impractical of them. I hope you manage to get something sorted.

TheBooMonster · 05/02/2015 17:40

hiding I'm surprised the letters the blood folk send round don't have an option to tick a 'I'm pregnant / have just a piercing/ been to somewhere exotic and can donate from x date' slip that you can send them, surely it would save them money in printing forms that people can't use!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 18:11

I've probably said before but I wanted to call ds2 Oscar. I love it and it really suits him, shame Dh said no!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 18:21

My neighbour from round the corner had her twins this morning, 37 weeks and they're 5lb 12 and 5lb 14. Two perfect little girls :)

catsofa · 05/02/2015 18:48

Eek 9 pages into another thread already, I can't keep up!

Getting nice gently tickly movements at the front of the bump recently, much nicer than kicks in the ribs.

Will hopefully be allocated a new house - meaning DP can move in with me - in early March, although we won't be able to move in to it straight away. Getting really stressed about it now, that's so late in my pregnancy and we have to move both me out of my flat and my DP out of his house 200 miles away, all while I can't do any lifting and am getting all big and uncomfortable. Then who knows how much decoration it'll need, or even repairs Sad. Trying not to panic but for someone with an anxiety disorder all this is not helpful!

PenguinPoser · 05/02/2015 19:05

Hiding I was sick of the letters asking me to donate blood so I just phoned them and told them I was pregnant told them EDD and they deferred me so won't get any more letters until I can go back. Did feel a bit guilty as I had just signed up again after a few years off from donating then haven't been able to as I got pregnant straight away!

Aw catsofa it's not an ideal time to move but if you do get moved at least you can have your new home ready for baby which will be nice and also have your DP there. Good excuse to get everyone else to do the moving! When we moved getting removal men was the best investment ever - so worth the money if you can. We weren't going to due to £ but my DH injured his knee shortly before the move and some family contributed to the cost (clearly they didn't want to move all our stuff either!)

cinnamon Joshua is one of our top boys names too. We are finding girls names much more difficult!

Finally found out today that I don't qualify for SMP (which I already worked out but manager was telling me I would Hmm ) so need to get my maternity allowance forms filled in and sent off once they send my MATB1 back. Running out of time ahhhh!!! Like getting paid is one of the major things I need to be sorted!!!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 05/02/2015 19:14

Congratulation Boo and Penguin

The reason babies get jaundiced is because prior to birth they have a different type of heamoglobin which allows them to take oxygen off mum heamoglobin. At birth they make adult heamoglobin and quickly break down the foetal stuff. This breakdown product (bilirubin) makes them tanned.

Sometimes they don't clear it fast enough so may need light therapy, but mostly it's fine.

kismac · 05/02/2015 19:17

Aww Boo. She is just precious.

Congratulations Cat on the new home. I hope you can rope family and friends to help you move.

We don't know the sex but think we have an ok list of names.

Boys: Murray, Ramsay, Rowan or Joshua.

Girls: Flora, Grace or Leah

It's too hard to pick!

TheBooMonster · 05/02/2015 19:21

oh cave that's my existing DD Blush not a new one, the April bump is still cooking, thank you though Grin was just demonstrating that she was teeny tiny

kismac · 05/02/2015 19:25

Oops, Joshua wasn't on our list it was Jacob. Ha ha. Can you tell I'm not overly keen on it.

AnniaFausta · 05/02/2015 19:38

Boo - thanks for the bear details! [makes note on the kit list]

FiRaffe · 05/02/2015 19:49

Baby names is still a great debate here. If it's a boy then Thomas will definitely be there somewhere (my mils maiden name, but she's the last in the line) but not sure where. Girls. ...well it was okay, but DH is now going back on liking it!!!!

AnniaFausta · 05/02/2015 19:55

Wow, dances - congratulations on the safe arrival of your daughter! May she bring you joy and happiness.

Congrats on passing the exam, penguin!

Whenever we try to have a conversation about names, it quickly descends into the ridiculous (Nebuchadnezzar! Dorcas!) so we've yet to get anywhere with making that particular set of decisions yet. Sorely tempted to get a baby name book out of the library and just make DH go through the bloody thing.

AnniaFausta · 05/02/2015 20:01

...and in looking at the baby name books the library has, I discover that the book of sci-fi baby names is a thing: www.amazon.co.uk/Sci-fi-Baby-Names-This-World/dp/1594741611

Shan't be mentioning that one to DH...

cinnamongreyhound · 05/02/2015 20:03

Dh is similar AnniaFausta but did come up with Joshua.
