once we have the seat it's just mattresses to go (and gathering back the things I loaned to friends)

it's getting scarily close.

lila35 · 06/02/2015 11:53

Congrats Dances! Its crazy to think that the babies are on their way!

Our buggy came at the beginning of this week and is stored safely at my grandads and our lovely custom foot muff and change bag is being dispatched today....wwaahhhhhhhh so exciting!!

8 weeks to go!!!!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/02/2015 11:57

a note for the first timers...a day or so after the baby is born, you will probably get a feeling like "this is insane! who the hell leaves a baby with someone with no experience??!" this is normal.

day 3 you will possibly find you spend most of the day in tears. Again, this is normal. I was in hospital for day 3 after my eldest was born and it happened to 3 out of 4 of us in that room. the 4th had been there 2 days. the following day she was sobbing, a midwife wandered by and said "day 3, yeah?" so that's also normal.

it's also normal to not experience either of these things.

Hidingthefear · 06/02/2015 11:58

beginning to wonder if this stomach pain is potentially Braxton hicks.
keeps going painful right across my bump, but then part of me thinks if it was BH i'd know about it and it would hurt more.

Just googled 4moms Mamaroo because i didn't know what it wad and it looks pretty awesome siarie

I think i mentioned the other day about our puppy being ill. treatment is working so it looks like it was most likley the giardia parasite from eating sheeps poo on her walk with MIL. she felt really guilty that they'd made the dog ill on her first outing with them but i told her not to worry, its the dogs own silly fault.

Hiding, some people get B-Hs very mildly, some people get them very painfully. First baby they were painful and infrequent. Second baby they were very mild but fairly often. This one they are middling. So it could be.

Minstrelle · 06/02/2015 12:22

I have missed so much - at least 4 complete threads! Work has been mental!!

And I can't believe we have our first baby - well done dances!!

Not a whole lot more to add, feeling very disorganised compared to everyone on here, haven't bought a thing, apart from 2 overpriced babygrows about 3 weeks ago - and I've ordered a Bednest. Really got to get my act together whilst I'm still relatively energetic. Re prams, we're off to get some advice tomorrow - we need something robust (relatively rural) that will deal with lots and lots of walking, therefore lots of use. Reasonably spacious capacity for crap underneath and adjustable height - I am 5'2'' and DH is 6'1. Currently looking at an Uppababy Vista, which is hideously expensive but does seem to cover what we need (quite keen on the carrycot being able to be used overnight if necessary) - then that's got to fit with the car seat combo. Will probably look at getting a 2nd hand "proper" running buggy (maybe a BOB) when the baby's able to hold head up etc. God knows if any of the above is even remotely sensible!!

30+4!

Heyitsholly · 06/02/2015 13:22

Your comment about not knowing what to do really made me laugh Ebwy
I feel like that and the babies not even here yet so god knows what the future holds for me!

Been for my whooping cough and midwife appointment today. My BP is beginning to rise, but that is cos they changed my meds, everything else is fine, baby was kicking the heartbeat thingy off my stomach!

Im going to Edinburgh this weekend, a xmas pressie from my mum to me and hubby. Unsure whether to take my notes, Hubby thinks im overreacting taking them as everything fine, and were not taking any luggage really so unsure what way to go.

30+1 today.

everyone at works keeps saying "oh your properly pregnant now aren't you how exciting"
Its all just getting a bit scary now , especially when we've had the first baby from the lovely dances who has bp troubles like me.
I think im in denial!! Hmm Confused

PenguinPoser · 06/02/2015 13:30

Thanks Ebwy it's good to know that it's normal for these things to happen when baby comes! Will have my books to read this weekend too as just had an email to say they have been left with a neighbour as I'm at work. Better than trekking to the post office for them!

Dances so good that you're getting cuddles from your DD! Hope you get more today Smile

32 weeks today... Only 8 weeks until EDD ahhhhhh!!!!!

BananaToast · 06/02/2015 13:34

Holly I'd definitely take your notes - better safe than sorry and not too much hassle. Have a lovely time.

Siarie · 06/02/2015 13:41

Take your notes Holly my MW told me off because I wasn't carrying them around. She was right though, you never know what might happen and without them they might miss something if you need hospital care.

28+4

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/02/2015 13:47

heyitsholly, there was a 20 year old and me (36 at the time) chatting in the ward a couple of days after the caesarians and we both felt like someone was making a huge mistake, leaving us in charge of the babies!

And yes, take your notes! fold them up and stick them in your bag. (I'd also take spare undies and leggings in case of sneezing... but that's probably a me thing!)

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/02/2015 14:01

another one for the first timers... I wondered "how will I know when my milk 'comes in' and it's not just colostrum any more?"

haha-bloody-ha, I knew when it did.. I woke up with the front of my nightie looking like there'd been an incident with two big cups of liquid - one from each boob!

(yep, totally glam, this pregnancy-and-having-baby thing!)

londonlivvy · 06/02/2015 14:04

Happy Waitangi day to fellow kiwi families - we are having a party with anzac biscuits, fish & sweet potato chips, pavlova & kiwi fruit, and lots of kiwi crafts, so hopefully DD will enjoy it. I realised this morning that I needed balloons but obviously you can't buy kiwi fern balloons in rural surrey, so had to get some white ones and draw on them!! Fortunately if you're 2, that's FINE!. Downside of all this party preparation is that DD is too excited to nap, so I'm expecting a meltdown later and lots of scrapping with her friends. Ah well.

Pregnancy wise I'm feeling a bit better today. Hurrah. Hope everyone else is feeling ok.

I think I've got everything for DD2 now (breastpads came in the post today) and hospital bag is packed, so now, inevitably, she'll be very very late and I'll be the size of a bus and BORED of being pregnant!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/02/2015 14:28

I've done it too Lauren82000, try not to worry. I'm sure your Dh isn't perfect!

Glad to hear you've had cuddles dancestomyowntune.

Still not sure what to do about running! I didn't think I'd still feel fine at this stage but starting to worry about my pelvic floor. I don't want to do lasting damage but I do my exercises and don't ever have any leakages. Is it possible to damage it without knowing/feeling any difference?

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/02/2015 14:33

cinnamon, I've heard that the fitter you are the shorter the labour you get... I'm in awe of you still being running at this point!

I'd ask your MW or GP.

Minstrelle · 06/02/2015 14:38

cinnamon - I'm still running - I'm not leaking either! Averaging 2 runs per week of 45 mins ish (plus riding my bike and swimming and other bits and bobs). My MW said that as long as I wasn't in pain either during or in the couple of hours afterwards, experiencing leakage and wasn't pelting it up the hills, I could carry on and that it'd be good for me. On the other hand, a friend of mine was categorically told "no running" after 5 months Hmm so I think it really depends who you ask!

I have a Serola belt for running , but that's more for an existing SIJ joint thing - and it makes me feel vaguely supported anyway.

BananaToast · 06/02/2015 14:44

Happy Waitangi day londonlivvy - very impressed with all your effort, hope you all enjoy the party! We contemplated joining the Circle line pub crawl tomorrow but don't think either of us can really be bothered... I definitely don't have the stamina these days! I realised the other day that the day I've got my money on baby turning up (5 days past my due date) is Anzac Day - would be quite a nice little kiwi link for baby!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 06/02/2015 15:04

Junkie unfortunately there is nothing you can do to increase ur platelets but don't worry they usually drop in pregnancy.

Congratulations Dances!!!!

FiRaffe · 06/02/2015 15:25

Banana - yep, had an email from Amazon apologising. It's from them direct and it did have the "more stock expected soon" on it when we bought so knew we'd have a little wait. Just doesn't help my organiser brain.

Been to our breastfeeding part of the NCT course this morning. Was interesting and I feel a lot more comfortable now with what might happen. has anyone tried the method where you put baby on your tummy and they crawl up to get themselves settled then feed?

Nunkie · 06/02/2015 15:43

Hey Squatting - thanks very much for that info (was useful to hear about the collapse mechanism on the zoom as I can't find a vid of one being folded for love nor money. Do you know if it's identical to that of the Sola?)

And Cinnamon, I'm still running too :0) (Still very steadily and short distances tho)
My solution, once the lady in my NHS class said running was still okay but could affect your pelvic floor, was to do my pelvic floor exercises while running!! :0S So maybe try that! (I quite like it as it reminds me to do them, I tend to forget the rest of the time). I also hold my tummy muscles in a bit as they told me that is another worthwhile thing to practice, plus it stops so much wobble, I think!

Ebwy, good to hear your reassurances that going bonkers on day 3 (or whichever day!) is perfectly normal! :0D

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 06/02/2015 15:57

As predicted, car seat was delivered while I was walking home... My lovely neighbours took it in :)

smogsville · 06/02/2015 15:59

London- just informed DH it's Waitangi Day be said oh yeah in a vague sort of way.

We've has a marvellous day big fat lunch at the river cafe I had buffalo mozzarella in creme fraiche with fennel, loads of bread and oil, polenta with cuttlefish cooked in own ink (best of the lot), chargrilled monkfish and then an incredibly buttery pear and almond tart and the best part of DH's polenta cake with blood red oranges. Looking forward to getting home and removing my bra Wink

Mum has looked after DD picking her up from nursery taking her to gym class etc so a real luxury.

Just off tube back to real life now...

Squatting to fold the Sola you slide up two clips on the underside of each handle while pressing a button on one of them at the same time, so sounds slightly different to the Zoom.
