Oh grinning I hope the ECV is successful for you.

memphis that made me laugh about MIL's purchases for little Donnie!

My MIL isn't all that bad, she's very helpful and generous but she's also very judgemental. So she's one that believes in too many cuddles aren't good and we don't need to worry about loose blankets in the Moses basket as baby will sort itself out etc. She also completely disagrees with being quiet when a baby is sleeping. You can imagine the debates I've had with her in the past regarding DD!

I've eaten way too much Chinese takeaway tonight, I think I've put myself in a food coma.

JacktheLab · 29/01/2015 20:47

Hey there, I'll be ok, breast feeding hasn't worked at all, I'd held out so much hope it would work this time so I've had to make a very hard decision to switch to bottles. Too much past history from my son, trying and failing when I'm basically have substandard equipment.

Bangonthedoor · 29/01/2015 20:56

Don't feel bad about it jack (easier said than done i know) I'm exactly the same. So many emotions still so raw from when I was trying to bf DD which has led me to the decision of not even trying this time round. It can be so bloody hard. A happy mummy means a happy baby and that's all that matters Thanks

longbottom · 29/01/2015 20:57

Ah jack, don't beat yourself up. I managed two weeks with DD and felt like id failed. This time I'm gonna give it a go and if i can't do it, so be it!! Bottles are fine! Sending you some love xx

Memphisbelly · 29/01/2015 21:02

Oh jack it must be disappointing but think of the positives your dh can now help with nightfeeds!

Bang this time I am cuddling all the time...it is my last baby so I am making the most of him! The noise thing with ds and a dog I have no hope, we have a quiet home usually but I hoovered earlier while he slept. He doesn't flinch at dog barking either (the dog never barked until he had a baby to protect Grin)

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 29/01/2015 22:13

Jack you really shouldn't feel guilty - far easier said than done I know. It is far better to ff and things go well than to be trying to make bf work when it isn't. It takes strength to say it isn't working and swap.

With DS I pushed through 9weeks of hell. Looking back I regret not swapping to ff far earlier but at the time the guilt was too consuming for me to do it. My DS suffered and I suffered for those 9 long weeks. ff was the best thing I did.

This time I will try bf, if it works great, if it doesn't I won't hesitate to move to ff.

Well done to you for trying to bf again but having the strength to swap when it wasn't working.

Grinningcat · 29/01/2015 22:22

Now really annoyed at my best mate. Told her about having ecv next week and she is all"well I've heard bad things about that" and sending me messages saying that if it was her she'd go straight to elcs and I shouldn't feel forced into having ecv. Bit pissed off as I had researched it a few weeks back when we originally though LO was breech and I kind of felt reasonably relaxed about it, but now my stress levels have gone up. It's my last day at work tomorrow and I want to enjoy my first few days of leave, not worrying about having a procedure that I was reasonably ok about having. I'm ignoring her for now as I'm in the camp of "if you can't say nice ( or supportive comments) then don't say anything at all". She is a bit of a scaremonger and I know better than to listen to her, but still she's said it now. Wish I hadn't told her now.

Sorry for the winge. Moaning to DH didn't get it off my chest.

Honeybird · 29/01/2015 22:30

Aw jack it's a shame bf didn't work out but it's a much bigger shame that you should be feeling stressed out or 'substandard'. Phoebe will do wonderfully wherever she gets her milk from!

Honeybird · 29/01/2015 22:33

Grinning I'm with you I'd definitely be up for an ECV if baby was breech. There's a million scare stories for every situation...

BanglesSpangles · 30/01/2015 01:18

Afternoon,
grinning id be trying the ecv too in your situation, but really it doesnt matter what i, your mate or anyone else thinks- youve gotta do what youve gotta do, and the only opinion that ultimately matters is yours (actually, that works for well-meaning advice from mothers in law too!!)

It was cold so stupidly went to bed really early and now cough has woken me up and i cant get back to sleep- have admitted defeat and come downstairs to the sofa

donkir · 30/01/2015 01:23

Eek just woke up to my waters going. Just a trickle at the moment with no contractions. Typical that's there's snow outside. Hoping I can hold off until morning so can sort ds out at a reasonable time.

BanglesSpangles · 30/01/2015 01:37

High fives donkir hope your contractions start soon- or soonish at least!

Viperama · 30/01/2015 01:49

Oo Donkir excitements! Best of luck xx

Purpletoes · 30/01/2015 04:00

Oh Donkir good luck. I am awake at my usual witching hour. Very annoying.

Bangonthedoor · 30/01/2015 04:45

Good luck donkir!! Grin How exciting!

Bangonthedoor · 30/01/2015 05:09

Just wondered what people's experiences are with reflexology? Do you think it would actually work to help bring labour along?

GeekyHybrid · 30/01/2015 05:45

Good luck donkir, let's hope you got through the night before having to get moving, and safe drive when you do go!

Bang no idea on reflexology, one of my oldest mates swears by that sort of thing but then her parents run a natural health clinic! Crystals for depression, lots of lentil soup etc. They are lovely, and incredibly healthy for their age Wink

blankfornames · 30/01/2015 07:57

Exciting times Donkir. Keep us updated as much as is possible!

Bang, my neighbour is a reflexologist and midwife. Im going to her at 38 weeks to see she can let me know when things are going to happen. My friend went yday and was told that she will most likely go over next 24 hours..will keep you posted!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 30/01/2015 08:09

Ooo how exciting Donkir fingers crossed for you!

Jack hope you're ok like others have said a happy Mummy = a happy baby! Thanks

I'm 38 weeks today! Time to step up perineal massage, arnica tablets and bouncing on my yoga ball! 2 days til February don't start dragging now!! Smile

donkir · 30/01/2015 08:50

Quick update, managed to stay at home (just on way to hospital now) ds at school and set up for later.
Still leaking waters (really annoying) still no contractions though. Probably could have stayed at home a bit longer but as I'm consultant led they want to check me over.

GeekyHybrid · 30/01/2015 08:50

Just had 2nd breakfast :-D Since I've already glossed a door I really do deserve it and seen as OH wants to 2nd coat the walls this afternoon then I may treat myself to a mid morning nap. And I've been awake since 4am. I could be considered to need said nap ;-D

donkir exciting. Good luck.

Memphisbelly · 30/01/2015 09:00

Donkir good luck! Will be thinking of you!

Bang I had reglexology last time. I loved it. It made me so relaxed and I fell asleep during session, when I woke my belly was solid I had BH all day then for next 3 nights I slept like a log, for the deep relaxing sleep alone it was worth it Grin

Taking baby on his first shopping trip today as its my bday dh has given me a wad of cash to spend. He also paid for mum and me to go to a posh stately home for afternoon tea! And lots of other bits

Honeybird · 30/01/2015 09:21

Happy birthday Memphis! Have a good one.
