Hey everyone.

Thanks for the new thread and congratulations to our newest arrivals.

Sorry I have been absent since my birth announcement. Had to stay in hospital from wed until Sunday. Twins needed a bit of extra monitoring but are totally fine now. I'm really besotted with them, they are beautiful but wow its a bit of a shock to system. They latch on and feed well but so far I've only managed one at a time and its so time consuming. Between bf and looking after my other two I'm shattered!! Doesn't help my husband had a night away in London with work! Both twins have lost a bit of weight so might not manage exclusive bf as I had hoped but will see how it goes.

Really wanted to write down my birth story as it was a lovely experience but I'm afraid I don't have the energy for it now. My best advice for an elec section is to take pain relief straight away even if you feel fine. I had no pain for 36 hours probs due to spinal so didn't even have paracetamol. When it hit me it hit like a tonne of bricks! As soon as I got some good pain relief I felt much better.

Will look forward to following other arrivals, I apologise if I don't contribute much!

Oh tonights it's lovely to hear from you! I really have no idea how you are functioning managing 2 with 2 others already!

Good luck for your appointment this afternoon frenetic, please let us know how you get on.

DD was apparently really emotional this morning at nursery and the staff said it could just be the whole baby thing. Made me feel a bit sad so I took her to a good play park near us and tried to forget I'm pregnant for just a minute. Even went on the zip wire a few times (obviously hoping that it would start things off Wink).

BanglesSpangles · 27/01/2015 14:47

Good luck Frenetic (and geeky's right- babies won't notice the mess!)

Also, on the mess front, I will share with you all the grimmest thing that ever happened in my house ever- We've had this integrated microwave that didn't really work since we've moved in and finally got around to hacking it out of it's hole and replacing it with the old one that we'd brought over from our flat when we moved two years ago and had stashed in the garage.

Anyway, I came in from yoga yesterday, micro'ed my dinner, and then an hour later DH came in and did the same, only to find that there were two maggots sitting next to the microwave- they must've been living in the back of it while it was in the garage or something and crawled out when it got hot.

I'll swear I nearly puked... and very shortly followed that by insisting that we throw away the microwave and go out immediately to buy a new one (at 10 o clock last night!). Have spent most of today looking very suspiciously at small pieces of fluff and feeling like the grungiest person in the world Blush

donkir · 27/01/2015 14:53

Thanks for the new thread.
Hope everything has gone well frenetic.
I've got simple all in one wash for baby when the time comes. I used johnsons first time around and poor ds suffered with really bad skin. Will be avoiding this time.
1st day of maternity leave today and had a friend round and hair cut. Not cut out for doing nothing. Although definitely not nesting yet the house is a tip.

BanglesSpangles · 27/01/2015 15:02

aah tonights, lovely to hear from you and glad it's going OK- would love to hear the whole story when you're feeling less knackered (some time in 2018 perhaps?!)

Honeybird · 27/01/2015 15:03

Haha love the maggots bangles, good thing they weren't inside the microwave... I'm sure they're a good source of protein though.

Surf25 · 27/01/2015 15:03

Thinking about you frenetic, hope your appointment goes well.
Lovely to hear how you are doing with your twins, tonight's. I take my hat off to you, am sure I will feel exhausted with 2dc plus baby let alone twins! Sounds like you're doing a fab job!
I agree re fragrance free baby wipes, never had an issue. Cream on bum only if it needs it. No lotions and potions for the first wee while and they don't need baths every day! See lots of dry skin babies and mostly it's too much washing and too many products. Water is grand. As for nappies, trial and error to see which suits your wee one when it comes! We have pampers for the first wee bit as other brands went for our dds skin before, but have heard great things about aldi.

Honeybird · 27/01/2015 15:04

Anybody else got restless legs? I've had it for years but it's really killing me these last couple of weeks. Now get it in my arms too.

Surf25 · 27/01/2015 15:04

PS thanks for the new thread. Looking forward to hearing about more arrivals!

Honeybird · 27/01/2015 15:05

Tonights good luck with the bf I can imagine how time consuming with two of them!

Surf25 · 27/01/2015 15:05

Y honey to restless legs...have you tried drinking tonic water? The quinine in it is meant to help.

Honeybird · 27/01/2015 15:13

Will do that thanks!

Memphisbelly · 27/01/2015 15:27

Tonights lovely to hear from you! Glad you are ok.

Bangles that made me feel gross think I would have gone out late to get a new one too!

aldi have a baby even starting on Thursday. Their muslins are by far the nicest ones we got, really absorbent and soft

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 27/01/2015 15:28

tonights it must be exhausting with 2 little babies bf separately - 1 is hard enough. Plus going from 2 to 4 must be shattering - I'm scared enough going from 1 to 2!

Minichuch · 27/01/2015 15:28

No restless legs but bloody heartburn urgh had it last night in bed and got it now sat at desk

BanglesSpangles · 27/01/2015 15:37

seriously-if i had been allowed to, i would have burnt that microwave in the back garden!

freneticfox · 27/01/2015 16:45

Thank you for the well wishes... overwhelming visit. Got taken out of low risk and put into high risk (owing to severity of SPD) and was offered a section. Obviously I accepted, willingly.

Will post the date on the FB group, seeing as a bit more privacy guaranteed :p

GeekyHybrid · 27/01/2015 17:02

Yay frenetic , glad you got your section and try have a relaxing evening to celebrate. You can resume fretting about cleaning in the morning if you really want! Wink

Great to hear from you tonights, one of my good mates who bf all her 3 kids (no twins) recommended a bottle feed especially at night, it takes them longer to digest and thus if it gives you a few hours clear sleep then it's good for everyone. With twins I'd definitely be 'topping up'. And when I discussed it with the local bf'ing specialist MW she agreed Grin

bangles the maggots reminded me of Sunday lunch at the IL's. Veg is often from FIL's allotment thus 'bonus protein' is not that uncommon Confused

Good news frenetic.

36 week appt went ok. MW thought that my dizzy spell was tiredness and sitting down too long. BP was same as usual. However I now have a presentation check appointment at the hospital on Thursday pm. MW is "pretty sure" baby is head down, but wants to be 100% as the "bottom" is apparently moving around too much?!

sandulacek · 27/01/2015 17:14

Ha! Found you Grin. Thanks for the new thread.

Good news Frenetic

Nothing to report here really, very lazy today and no nesting going on although I washed lo bedding yesterday as my DH put the new drawers together over the weekend. Also 36 week appt went fine earlier today. Scan tomorrow.

Taking notes on all your washing the baby experiences!

freneticfox · 27/01/2015 17:17

Ooh, forgot to say - great to hear from you tonights; I can only imagine how surreal it is with two new arrivals!

More thread babies anytime soon? ;)

sandulacek · 27/01/2015 17:25

I think someone has a cs tomorrow??

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 27/01/2015 17:30

Frenetic are you just going straight to elcs option now or still the try to labour naturally if not overdue?

freneticfox · 27/01/2015 17:32

I have an ELCS booked in a few days before my due date; which I'm hoping will come around without spontaneous labour. I'm not entirely sure what happens if I go into labour before then, but am going to discuss it with my midwife on Friday. It's what I felt was the best option for me from around 20 weeks, so I feel a lot better about things now.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 27/01/2015 17:59

Frenetic - that's good, I'm glad they gave you what you wanted. I'm thinking you and me have our elcs around the same time then (10th Feb for me at 39+1).

When I asked my hospital what happens if I go into labour before hand they basically admitted they'd faff around prepping in the hope I'd end up being too far along to do (they only do them past a certain point of labour in medical emergencies). I took what they were saying to mean phone and go in, demanding c section at the first sign of labour, so I couldn't be too far along, if they faffed a bit.
