Just a quick check in.

Congrats frenetic! What a lovely weight, enjoy your special boy Smile

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone. We've just got home. So nice to be in my own bed although bloody sore plus so terrified of popping my stitches with this cough I've still got Confused still a bit shocked I think, can't believe how quickly she came and also quite gutted I had another bad tear. Other than that I feel so happy and so complete with my family Smile

tiredvommachine · 12/02/2015 21:58

Congratulations to you bang also. Try and get some rest Flowers

tweety89 · 12/02/2015 23:07

geeky what does lactulose do? Does it help to absorb the iron? I had a major PPH on DD and as my mum had it with both myself and my sister they're kind of expecting me to have blood loss again, so I'm already taking iron tablets and will continue getting them after birth, however, at the moment it seems that my body does have enough iron (just on the limit) with the tablets...

Memphisbelly · 13/02/2015 00:29

Tweety it will soften your poo

loopsyloup · 13/02/2015 01:25

Congrats to the new babies!

Mini wow you sound so brave. Glad all getting better and moving in the right direction - you'll be having big home hugs before you know it!

Bang - mw told me to hold a pillow against my stitches when I cough as that'll make me feel better (also have cough and had emcs). It's still scary but I've not split my stitches yet and it's been a week. Touch wood anyway.

Can't remember who was asking re lady garden but I didn't do anything about mine! Meant surreal moment before the emcs where the mw had an electric razor and was shaving down there! Gawd knows what it looks like though and I figure the mws and so on have seen it all and don't much care what the hair sitch is down there!

Hello all
Congrats to all the new babies, what a week..!
Another bullet baby here... Long post alert!
Isabella arrived at 8am yesterday morning weighing 7.3lb.
My waters broke at 3am, got to hospital at 4am and was 4cm dilated, fully dilated by 6am. Have to say, the contractions took me by full force, I kind of just went with them and managed on gas and air. No time for birth pool and we laughed about ensuring we had the Hypnobirthing meditation recordings with us! As if! It was very active and very vocal!
The bit I hadn't counted on being such hard work (perhaps naively), was the actual pushing in Stage 2... took another 2 hours and sorry but it was excruciating. I think I just expected that once dilated you just push and the baby pops out but no... it was like trying to squeeze out a football! I swore a lot.
But hey, it happened, had 2nd degree tears but baby made up for it all... she has dark hair & latched on within an hour. We were all home 10 hours later and so happy.

Ticktick, I would say that I kind of felt funny the day before - I'd had period pains for 12 days already, loose poo for 5 days and BH had been increasing in general over weeks. But the day before I was in slight pain and out of breath when the BH came, went to the triage where they said I was 1cm dilated already at 5pm, so I was in labour but not in huge pain. Managed to watch telly, have a bath and get 4 hours sleep in before the waters went at 3am.
So I think trust your instincts, you will just know when it feels different.
And in case anyone else was as stupid as me, keep some energy for the pushing it is hard work but you can do it :)
Loads of love to all the new mums and soon-to-be mums x

BanglesSpangles · 13/02/2015 05:52

Congrats nic- another speedy one!

blankfornames · 13/02/2015 06:04

Congrats Frenetic and Nic!

Thanks for the description of how you felt coming up to your labour day Nic. Very helpful. I feel as if Baba is very immenent as bump is so low down and uncomfortable but haven't experienced what you have so perhaps a while off yet!

Well done ladies. Powerful bunch of ladies here!!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 13/02/2015 08:06

Congrats frenetic and Nic!

Thanks for the story Nic a little scary though! Shock

Due date for me today no real signs or symptoms am going for a long walk later and may have something hot tonight! Getting very jealous of all these beautiful babies Smile

Honeybird · 13/02/2015 09:00

Thanks to whoever updated the spreadsheet! Wow yesterday was busy, babies trying to avoid Friday the 13th?

Katsand · 13/02/2015 09:18

Congratulations to all new babies.
I'm 40 + 3 today and have just got to the point where I trying to not think about it. Keep getting texts from friends asking but trying to just enjoy the days as they come.
Advice for first time mums is to trust your instinct. I had 40 hours on my first. Kept having contractions every 5 minutes and it never went down to 3 minutes as the hospital said I should wait for. My problem was that she was blocking my urethra so I couldn't pee which led to so much bladder pain during each contraction. I went in after 30 hours ( having been sent home twice) and as my contractions were 5 min apart and I wasn't screaming ( I tend to breath and focus on that) they kind of took their time and chatted about who was having lunch first. When I finally got checked I was 9 cm so they sped things up a bit. Well it still took another 10 hours as she was back to back. My point is that it's easy to feel that they know so much more than you and then stop listening to what your body tells you. So just trust your instincts. You do know when it starts...

Ticktick · 13/02/2015 09:34

Thanks for the info nic and kat its really is fascinating to read. Congratulations nic on your bullet baby X

kat hope things get moving for you soon but staying relaxed seems like a good strategy. Not much else you can do, getting stressed wont speed up baby. I need to take my own advice, I feel so fed up and agitated with boredom 39+3 today, just want to get on with it!

I've got another question for those who have delivered! Did you do anything to help get things started..?

BanglesSpangles · 13/02/2015 10:24

Haha, that was me, honey - spent a few hours of the night up and about for various reasons!

thingsarelookingup · 13/02/2015 10:33

Congratulations nic and frenetic.

I'm currently in hospital waiting for my turn for elcs. A lady having triplets went in first so when she is done it should be my turn!

Katsand · 13/02/2015 11:44

Tick tick with my first I know I had some really spicy hot jerked chicken the night before labour started but I am not sure if that was what started it off. With my second I can't remember. I got to the point where I feel he/she will come once he's ready. I know it's frustrating....

Bangonthedoor · 13/02/2015 12:08

Wow nic congratulations!! These babies really are coming fast!

Good luck for ELCS today things, looking forward to hearing the news.

Thanks for advice loopsy, it's awful when I get a tickle in my throat then it's non stop coughing! Midwife came to do her check this morning and seems to think they are done up nice and tightly - the midwife who sutured me did joke that she had given me a designer vagina Grin

I hope things start moving along for everyone else really soon!

tweety89 · 13/02/2015 12:31

Congratulations nic and good luck things. Triplets? She was a priority for sure! I cannot start thinking about having 2, let alone 3 of the same age!!
Thanks memphis. Iron tablets somehow don't have this effect on me (or it's because they are not absorbed properly? Hmm)...

trukevoli · 13/02/2015 12:44

Congratulations on all the new babies. Have loved seeing all the pictures and getting the updates.

Well thought I would give you a bit of an update on my evening. (sorry for the tmi) last night I lost some of my mucus plug at about 10.30 and had mild pains in my stomach. Then at 12.30 woke up went to the toilet and there was quite alot of blood and contractions have started every 6th minutes for 30 seconds. Told to go in to hospital where I have a trace and eventually at 4.30 the doctor is available to do an internal which turns out to be almost pointless as there was too much blood to see what is going on. He says I can stay there or go home but he thinks it is early labour as the contractions have carried on for so long but can't be sure. so 5.30 arrive home and go back to bed.

Just properly woken up and still having the contractions but they haven't progressed. Now I play the waiting game!

Good luck today tonights and anyone else that ends up having their beautiful bundle of joy.

trukevoli · 13/02/2015 12:48

Not tonights I meant things......brain is all over the place!

Memphisbelly · 13/02/2015 13:56

Tweety the only thing that has ever made me constipated was the painkiller they put up my bum after having ds.....noyhing normally stops me going!
I ended up on sofa last night, the baby does not like his crib so I brought him down in his moses basket, think crib feels too big to him, in my sleep shy tiredness I nearly bought one of those snooze baby cushions.... At £90 im glad I didnt

GeekyHybrid · 13/02/2015 16:02

Congratulations nic Thanks Thanks Thanks

It is getting busy with all the arrivals isn't it! I haven't even had chance to look at the spreadsheet. Luckily the BF seems to have settled down a bit, every 2-3 hours generally. Now we just need to train him to sleep in the moses basket at night Hmm

tweety the lactulose definitely helps soften things, I dread to think what I'd be like without! TMI alert - can I also blame the iron tablets for lots of smelly wind?! Ta in advance if you happen to know.

Thanks all. My baby girl Ella was born this morning at 11:43. All is going well and I am totally in love. Just waiting for my husband to return with her big brother to meet her.

tweety89 · 13/02/2015 17:57

Congratulations things! :) Looking forward to reading your story!

sandulacek · 13/02/2015 18:27

Hope you're doing well Frenetic

Congrats to nic (good story...the swearing made me laugh) & things

I've had my pre op today. Jeez the woman taking my bloods made a total mess, it really hurt. tweety my hospital has 2 different theatres in the labour ward...one for planned cs and the other one for emergencies so hopefully shouldn't happen what happened to Frenetic.
