Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tweety89 · 13/02/2015 18:37

thanks sandulacek! I need to check this with the hospital as I don't want to be taking the 3 pills and then asked to go home and take them again the day after...I don't even like taking paracetamol...
are you feeling better frenetic?

longbottom · 13/02/2015 21:03

Had a lovely day relaxing with friends, sitting in a cafe eating and drinking!
My ankles are now swollen, and got tummy ache, come on baby come out and meet us all please!!

freneticfox · 13/02/2015 22:22

Having an emotional evening.. Found out I lost a little over 1100ml blood during my section so I'm needing a transfusion before I'm allowed home, but because there was an emergency I only got half the amount tonight, the rest has to wait.

So ready to be at home, my SPD pain is gone, we have a solid feeding plan and schedule, and I feel good.

Terrified they'll keep me in another night :(

Memphisbelly · 13/02/2015 22:36

Frenetic think positive the spd has gone.....amazing! Also feeding schedule is sorted, you are half way to transfusion, you will feel even better once full transfusion is finished and you will be home before you know it with your dh and gorgeous baby boy to start your new life as a family of 3!

NicLondon1 · 14/02/2015 00:28

Thanks for all the good wishes.

Frenetic that's great the SPD pain has gone - hurray!! I'm loving being able to Do the simple things again like put underwear on standing up!

Memphis, thanks for the arnica recommendation.. working a treat

purpleteapig · 14/02/2015 04:59

Congrats Nic & glad you're feeling better Frenetic. So many Feb boys - I wonder if the latter part of the month will be dominated by girls??

My 5th night in hospital...am praying that Rowan's bloods are clear tomorrow and they don't need to give more antibiotics - poor little thing is a pin cushion from all the tests he's had. Just can't wait to get home...

blankfornames · 14/02/2015 07:18

Congrats Things!!

Nic, lolling heartily at your standing pants scenario...hilarious! Never in my wildest dreams ever imagined I'd ever have difficulty with putting on my own knickers!!

Lost about 4 more clumps of plug yday...how much more can there be?!

Ticktick · 14/02/2015 07:53

Morning all

Fingers crossed for Rowan purple, valentines day would be a lovely day to take your little bundle home.

I had a weird night last night. Was having painful cramps from 12:30-4:30 am, every 5 mins lasting 30 seconds. They were keeping me awake before they eventually disappeared to nothing. Hmm what will today bring?

PeppermintInfusion · 14/02/2015 08:53

Tick, I've been getting the same sort of pains, it's driving me mad!

longbottom · 14/02/2015 09:35

Morning all, I actually slept all night, going out for a nice sea front walk today to try and move things along!
Hope everyone else has a suitably good day!

donkir · 14/02/2015 09:45

Morning all, I'd love to sleep all night. Logan is 2 weeks today and I'm a hormonal, blubbering wreck. Yesterday/last night was the worst ever. Had to take him to emergency docs yesterday as he's got a skin infection which doc thinks he picked up from me when waters went early. Mw was rubbish and just thought it was where nappy was rubbing and he was sucking his fingers. He doesn't even suck his fingers! Hoping to be discharged from mw on Monday. OH goes back to work on Monday can't say I'm looking forward to that.

Hope all those still in hospital get home soon Thanks
And those awaiting bundles of joy get to squidge them soon.

tweety89 · 14/02/2015 10:28

It's a good thing that you've spent another day/night at the hospital and getting a blood transfusion frenetic. On DD I had a bit over 1,300ml blood loss and the only thing that they did was top me up with iron and antibiotics (3 different ones!!) for 7 days and I ended up getting another set of antibiotics for another 14 days (I got a very serious infection because of one of the antibiotics)... My current hospital's rules to elcs is to stay at the hospital for 2 days, unless you don't have any complications, explicitly request for it and the specialist signs and releases you. At least you've got a schedule and you're all set. After spending 4 days at the hospital with DD, we realised we weren't prepared! Grin
I hope you get to go back home today! Flowers

SPD gone! Woohoo!! I'm SOO looking forward to this!

donkir just make sure that you don't feel like this all the time throughout the day, otherwise talk to your HV or mw. My PND started immediately after giving birth, was picked up after 2.5 years (kind of accidentally by the GP) and lasted...3.5 years... :S

tweety89 · 14/02/2015 10:32

p.s. donkir I cannot believe the mw didn't pick up on your LO's infection immediately. Even for prevention since your waters broke so early they should have given the baby some sort of antibiotics (they did with mine as my waters broke and 48 hours later I had the emcs).

donkir · 14/02/2015 11:03

My thoughts exactly tweety. The hospital were very lax on doing obs. I was in 2 days and they only checked my obs twice. They were meant to be done every 4 hours.

Memphisbelly · 14/02/2015 13:39

I am am shocked Donkir that it didn't get pucked up, hope it clears soon.

Ds1 woke me up with a valentines kiss and dh got me a lovely new mug (I have mug addiction) he also did all the feeds in night so im all bright eyed,

But my finger tips on one hand all hurt and today they are swollen and I can barely pick up anything, chemist said its an infection under my nails but they cant give me anything, seems silly going docs for it, they said to use mag suphate to try and draw some gunk out to relieve pressure, they said docs monday, if I don't go then I may lose my nails!

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 14/02/2015 13:48

I've missed loads. Congrats to all the other new moms.

Well in hospital it seemed like PGP had just gone but it was too good to be true. When I was discharged, I was sent home with just paracetamol and ibuprofen for pain relief. PGP symptoms were back with a vengeance, within hours. Now on tramadol and can be basically mobile, but unable to sit up from lying down in bed and unable to get up from sitting whilst holding baby and stairs kill. DH has to pass baby to me and put her down for me. Frustrating. On the plus side the c section itself hasn't really caused any pain after the first day.

She is one heck of a feeder, although second night in hospital I had to top up with formula - had been feeding loads during the day, then in the evening it got worse - I fed her for 6hours solid with just a couple of 5min breaks. She was getting fussier and I was getting more and more exhausted, so she had a 1oz formula top up. That gave me a 1hour break before she was feeding again. Midwives all said her latch was brilliant and she was very actively sucking, just being big needed to put in a big order. Seemed to work milk came in at 2.5days and things calmed down. She did quite a bit of cluster feeding again last night.

DS loves her to pieces. He's really gentle with her and likes to 'help' look after her.

freneticfox · 14/02/2015 20:33

We're home! Tired, but oh my god.. The transfusion did the trick. Feel totally different. A consultant tapped me on the shoulder earlier and said it was great to see me up and about rather than at deaths door like on the table... So apparently I was quite poorly and all I remember is going very weak and dizzy...

Terrified all of a sudden.. So many different ways to feed and amounts and things... Just hoping I can do it all right..

donkir · 14/02/2015 20:39

Welcome home frenetic and welcome to the best job in the world.

longbottom · 14/02/2015 21:22

So glad your home frenetic!
Been out walking today, napped this arvo and had a rubbish take away for tea Sad
Bump is very low, hurts to cross my legs!! 11 days until due date.

tweety89 · 14/02/2015 22:04

Glad you're back home frenetic. :)

I've eaten so much junk today, I'm feeling a bit sick and I couldn't have proper dinner, just some crackers...Getting tired and impatient now...

purpleteapig · 14/02/2015 22:33

Hope your little one is better soon donkir - the hospital sounds very slack & should have picked that up.

Feeling very down: was told today that we'll be in until at least wed to allow for 5 days antibiotics for Rowan & a test to come back. I want what's best for him but the doc yesterday gave me false hope by saying we might be out today, when actually consultant's plan all along was to keep him in. Already been here for 5 nights - am getting cabin fever...

Grinningcat · 14/02/2015 23:25

Glad you are home frenetic. Hold on in there purple.

Had a good day today, but getting fed up of being do massive and uncomfortable. Bought nursing bras today and lady who measured me said I looked small for 39 weeks. I am so NOT small! Envious of you long bottom that your bump is low. I have had no indication of things moving along whatsoever. Think I will still be waiting in a fortnight's time.

Memphisbelly · 14/02/2015 23:37

Purple you are doing fab, Wednesday will be here before you know it.

Frenetic glad you are feeling better, don't panic about feeding are you breastfeeding? Either way don't worry about routine/feeding at set times, Baby soon tells me he is hungry by trying to eat amything that goes near his mouth while he makes pig noises. Just sit on the sofa and enjoy your family x

Donkir it really is the best job isn't it? Smile I was so caught up with trying to do everything by the book last time I forgot to enjoy those first few weeks but this time I love it, mainly staring at him while I cuddle him Grin

trukevoli · 15/02/2015 00:21

So as of 6.40 this morning I have become a mummy to little Lochlan weighing 6lb5oz.

pushing for an hour solid left me knackered. And had a slight tear needing 2 stitches. Lost quite a bit of blood so have been kept in over night.

whilst showering I found what can only be described as a massive hole in my labia. And after 2 midwives and a Dr looking none of them could work it out as it looks like the skin had healed. there was also a slight one on the other side. so a further 10 stitches which they are not comfortable will work and have said if not will need cosmetic surgery.

But all of it was worth it for my gorgeous little boy who is feeding well, pooing and peeing. And has one deliriously happy mummy.

congratulations to all you new mums and best of luck to all those waiting!

Memphisbelly · 15/02/2015 04:39

Truk congrats on your little boy, ouch to the hole though, hope you heal well and get home tomorrow.
