Hello ladies! A last minute latecomer here but I'm getting nervous now so need a cosy group to sidle up to.
ELCS on Thursday, think I'm prepared but hated it last time so I'm winding myself up into a lather. And every twinge I get now obviously means early labour, eep!
I keep forgetting I'll be meeting our new baby very soon as well, does anyone else do this too?

BanglesSpangles · 01/02/2015 20:01

Welcome postit :)

Bella, ive been doing probably about 5 minutes on the ball, then i get bored and wander off to a different chair- just cant seem to get comfortable anywhere! I have a little bounce, do some hip rolls and much to the alarm of my oh did some experimenting this afternoon with lifting both feet off the floor at once, just to see if i could (i couldnt)

GeekyHybrid · 01/02/2015 20:13

Is anyone else struggling to eat Sunday roast type food (I'm thinking the gravy especially!!) without spilling it all down themselves?! It's as if the bump magnetically attracts food. Or is it just me ;-D

BanglesSpangles · 01/02/2015 20:20

Haha geeky YES! Im i walking disaster area when it comes to dropping food down myself And cleaning my teeth, i always manage to dribble toothpaste down my bump- im a delight! Not sure if i was always a toothpaste dribbler, and just never noticed it when it wasnt getting stuck on my middle

freneticfox · 01/02/2015 21:15

My god, I apparently can't eat a meal without it going everywhere at the moment... it's almost funny.

I've had terrible lower back pain all day (on and off); feels like a cross between needing the loo and period pains. Some bump tightening as well. Of course I know this could be BH (not felt them until recently thanks to high pain threshold)... but now I have an ELCS date I'm really worried about going into labour beforehand and everything becoming a bit... manic. Is it worth calling the labour ward and telling them I'm having this type of pains, or is is a fairly normal experience for 38+1?

And there I thought I'd be more relaxed now I have a date...

postitnotes · 01/02/2015 21:52

frenetic I am 38+2 and been having the same sort of twinges - period style cramps, bowel type cramps, hip pains, and some quite intense BH for a week or so now, and all adding to the fear of pre-ELCS labour. But my sister said you KNOW when it's labour and I think you can have a good few weeks of baby getting in the right place and the knock-on effects.

I've had BH from about 20 weeks but they've always been ok, just recently though some have been strong enough to make me catch my breath and have to stand still, and last week I thought I'd pulled a muscle from them.

I'm the total opposite from most people doing everything to bring on labour - NO curries, NO bouncing, NO sex, etc. I've just had the quietest weekend ever, and have the next 3 days planned for mainly sitting on my arse (which is a bit difficult with my 12m DD!)

bugsyburge · 01/02/2015 21:57

Hi ladies I hope you don't mind me butting in. I am part of the February 2014 group & have found myself reading your thread over the past couple of weeks thinking that this was me this time last year.

I just wanted to say huge congratulations to all those who already get to snuggle their bundles & good luck to those who will be meeting theirs soon !!!!

I write this with a snotty, teething, poorly little girl lay across my chest & can't believe she is nearly 1 already.

enjoy every minute!!!!!!Smile

GeekyHybrid · 01/02/2015 21:57

Thanks bangles and frenetic, that makes me feel better. The laundry pile is growing (again) at an alarming rate due to my food clumsiness!

frenetic - please don't worry too much, probably is just back ache. It may be worth calling them though just to check. My MIL only ever had contractions in her back, not at all around the front. This was 40 years ago but basically the midwives wouldn't believe her that she was in labour proper and told her to stay in bed and be quiet. Never got pain relief either. Finally, she got a midwife to actually look and there was my OH crowning.

Guessing I'm going to sleep like a log tonight - because I'm going to try stay up and watch the superbowl. "Oh I believe in Murphy's law" sung to the tune of the Beatle's 'Yesterday'

Thanks for the reassurance - nothing has increased in intensity over the course of the day so I'm not immediately concerned. I think I'm just having worries since DH isn't starting to take the car to work until Weds... his train commute is two hours, whereas driving takes less than hour. His season ticket runs out Tuesday... and my SPD is too severe to drive myself so if I do wind up having to go in tomorrow I'm going to be in a bit of a pickle!

Bangonthedoor · 02/02/2015 00:15

Hope you're ok frenetic.

geeky I'm also another one exactly the same with food spillages! Definitely more gravy type dinners as you say, had beef stew for dinner and it was everywhere Blush

Hi to postit and bugsy! Grin

Well I slept from 8-9pm this evening perfectly - but that's it...I've been up, put washing on, done the dishes, sat with my head over steaming water for my cold, sorted the freezer out - you name it Grin I've come back up to bed now as I've got a hell of a day tomorrow, I'm looking after my nephew who has just turned 2 and is like a bull in a china shop, plus he and DD fight like cat and dog so should be interesting. Hence why i need to get some sleep now!

blankfornames · 02/02/2015 04:15

Hello February!! This is our bus stop finally!

Ridiculous time to be awake... DH snoring beside me isn't helping.

Surf25 · 02/02/2015 04:31

Snap blank am awake too with dh sounds asleep beside me. Something I will be getting used to again I guess!
Welcome to baby Logan! And hello to the folk who are joining us and posting for the first time or again after lurking. I lurk most of the time and enjoy reading how things are going with everyone but have a bit more time to check in now on mat leave which is lovely. Hello to any other newbies too and their babies too!

Sounds like tonights you are doing a marvellous job with your wee girls!

Busy weekend here with eldest daughter's birthday. Much fun was had! Looking forward to a morning off today although might just end up back in bed...we shall see...

Hope everyone else is sleeping and has a good day ahead

Surf25 · 02/02/2015 04:32

PS exciting to reach february! Has seemed quite a long time coming but also now it's here to have come round quickly - how does time do that?!?!

Bangonthedoor · 02/02/2015 07:28

Morning all.

Managed to drop off on the sofa from 2ish until 6am. Slightly disturbed but mostly asleep. Hope everyone else managed to get a bit of sleep

purpleteapig · 02/02/2015 08:19

Sounds like a lot of us are getting a bad night's sleep lately. I was awake for hours, not helped by the fact that baby did a huge lurchy movement (painful!) and now my bump looks a different shape from how it's looked last few weeks. I'm a bit worried it's turned breech or something...

Mimosa1 · 02/02/2015 08:31

Morning everyone and welcome baby Logan! Well I'm now 4 days past due and still no signs of anything happening. Bangles, sounds like you've got serious nesting instinct going on! My house is still a bit of a tip, ahem, as there's no place to put anything. Have moved my chest of drawers into the baby's room. We moved recently and there is not enough storage in the flat so we're going to a 2nd hand furniture auction this evening to buy a bigger chest of drawers I have my eye on (cheaper than ikea and proper wood). Am ridiculously excited (never been to an auction) so DH is letting me wave the paddle and who knows, maybe the thrill will bring on the baby!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 02/02/2015 08:46

Morning All

Thanks bugsy that's nice to hear!

I'm another non sleeper here bad period like pains stomach felt heavy and tight finally fell asleep at 3 with my contraction app in my hand! I keep hearing I will just know when it's labour but what about pre labour/early labour the build up do you still 'know'? Shock

Littleflump15 · 02/02/2015 09:12

Morning all, well I've decided this baby is nothing but a little tease! 3 nights in a row I've spent thinking something's starting I take myself off yo bed to try get some sleep and it amounts to nothing! Oh well more cleaning then I suppose ??

GeekyHybrid · 02/02/2015 09:15

I knew it, whilst I did manage to see most of the superbowl, last night was the best I've slept in ages!! Successfully watched the 1st half, but because I was dozing off I allowed myself to sleep through the half time 'entertainment', admittedly struggled to keep my eyes open for the 3rd quarter but it was a really good game and managed to watch the 4th fully awake. And because I was comfy on the sofa, stayed there and then slept 5 hours solid until OH came down for breakfast :-D That 5 hours is the longest I've gone in ages. In the meantime OH slept 10 hours straight undisturbed - I think he's going to be in for more of a shock when LO arrives!

Good luck with the nephew bang. Those of you who already have DC's do so well to cope as at least us FTM's can just not do anything when feeling rubbish / sleep deprived etc.. Mimosa hope things happen soon for you, do let us know about anything that appears to work for getting things started!

Giantbabymama · 02/02/2015 09:34

Ello. Still 10 days before due date, but had exam this morning and the doc says things are moving in the right direction, as it were , but nothing to suggest baby has any intention of popping out within the next few days. exam wasn't too bad considering I am not very good with these things but I did feel a wee bit funny afterwards, not faint exactly but a bit weird and dizzy and in need of cake. Is that a thing? I am alright now but took me by surprise a bit as although I don't love smear tests etc, I've never had that before.

Honeybird · 02/02/2015 10:42

Mimosa hope things get moving for you soon, have they given you an induction date if not? 38+4 here and already very impatient, although I should be glad as every day is an extra pay day now. Friday is my last day. I don't want to come back to work until September when I will have DS back in school and DD in preschool.

BanglesSpangles · 02/02/2015 10:48

Morning- absolutely poo nights sleep for me, but had a nice lay in, so feeling pretty ok. DH is off work today (he went to a friends to watch the superbowl and didnt get in until 4) so we're going to have a lazy couple of hours then go out for for some shopping and lunching

Had a good half hour of what (after some frantic googling) i think were braxton hicks... Definitely havent had any of those before!

littlemiss i wondered the same about pre-labour build up... I have a feeling im gping to be vaguely oblivious, as with most things in life!

Mimosa1 · 02/02/2015 11:18

Honey, they will induce on 41+5 or +6 if nothing happens beforehand. The 5th of Feb was DH's lovely late mother's bday though so have a sneaking feeling that might be the day.

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 02/02/2015 11:25

Re very early labour vs braxton hicks. In my experience the very very early bit of labour can be like period pains (and braxton hicks) - but that bit can be days long.

Proper early labour the contractions become that strong that it makes you bend strongly at the stomach, even if you're trying very hard to keep upright.

Established labour - you will know without doubt!

Grinningcat · 02/02/2015 11:25

Having a very lazy first day off work here and thoroughly enjoying myself. So far I've managed to put a load of washing on and dozed in bed a lot with the cat. Off to my Aunts this afternoon to drop a couple of things off to her for my Dad and anticipating being given cake. Grin
