I'm really interested in seeing if the baby is small.
Gtt was fine, they will let me know if any issues so no news is good news.

Evening all :) hope all is well :) it seems to have gone really quiet on here of late :(

I had my private scan on Monday and it went really well, baby is doing fine, and likes to have his picture taken it seems! He looks JUST like DS did on his scans, only he let us have pictures and DS was always a royal pain! We ended up with a CD rom full of photos as the lady had five pages worth by the end and I just couldn't decide which ones to have! He's now head down too, which I had thought as i'm often booted in the ribs these days. My next appointment is next wednesday with the MW.

My DS is being very sweet, he has taken a liking to the heartbeat bear we got from the scan, and calls it baby teddy. He insists on sleeping with it and he tries to give it juice and play cars with it. He's only 2 and a bit, it's very cute stuff bless him

hi Lop, welcome and congratulations!

hi bilbo! welcome and congratulations to you too! :)

ooh another! Welcome and congratulations nippey

I did a very pregnant thing today. I went to look for something in the bedroom and spent a good 20 minutes searching in the dark before remembering that turning the light on might well help Blush

Has the hospital bag post on facebook been made a sticky type thing on there? Am i being really dense as I can't find it when I know i've looked at it once or twice already!

ooh pas flapjacks are lovely things. Brownie is my current 'thing' but I may request Nan-made-flapjacks as they are the shizzle

waves at buba

glad your scan went well chook!

hope tomorrow goes ok tori

glad your gtt went well jazzy

28 weeks tomorrow! Goshes!

Jackiebrambles · 05/03/2015 09:02

Morning all!

I’ve not posted here in ages so wanted to check in. Hope everyone is ok??,

This sunny weather is definitely cheering me up a bit – roll on spring!

I’m now 24 weeks so into viability, woo!

I’ve also got my consultant midwife appointment tomorrow to discuss my wish to have an ELCS. I am expecting a bit of a ‘discussion’ with her trying to convince me to have a VBAC so I think I need to write a list of pros and cons for both and my points so I don’t get confused!

Has anyone else had a similar appointment? I know there are a few of us ELCS peeps!

cuphat · 05/03/2015 10:07

Glad your scan went well, Kyz.

Yay for reaching 24 weeks Jackie! I expected a bit of an argument and took a list of reasons for wanting an ELCS to my consultant appointment just in case. My midwife had told me an ELCS wouldn't be a problem in my case but I still expected a bit of a fight (after reading mn, to be honest). The consultant was lovely and said he'd read both my current notes and previous notes from DD. He asked if I'd thought about how I wanted to give birth and when I said I wanted an ELCS he said that was fine and to bring in my diary at my next appointment (36 weeks) and I could pick a date. I didn't have to give any reasons! Though as he'd read my notes he would have known what they are (recent ELCS, never been in labour, big baby, big head!). He also mentioned the PGP that my midwife had diagnosed; that may have been another thing in my favour as a lady in my previous antenatal classes had a section due to PGP/SPD alone.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

cuphat · 05/03/2015 15:25

My 28 week appointment went well. I'm measuring 29 weeks but the midwife said that is quite normal for a second baby. Heard the heartbeat which sounds fine. Baby is lying across which I suspected after feeling kicks at the side! But I'm having a section so I'm not too worried about position. Next appointment in 6 weeks - I'm hardly being seen this time!

jazzyjenbo · 05/03/2015 22:37

Kyz.... I will re post the stats and hospital list onto fb.. If you search posts by me (real name) then you should find it easier to find.
I was thinking of making them into read only docs so that i can post them onto the docs section but still have the editable versions aswell???

Jackiebrambles · 06/03/2015 09:10

Thanks for the advice Cuphat, I'm going to make a list too before I go in to see her!

The one thing a midwife said to me is that sometimes babies born by ELCS struggle to breastfeed straight away. But I'm not sure how true that is. Anyone heard anything similar?

I went into spontaneous labour with DS and ended up with an EMCS but he fed fine!

Kyz · 06/03/2015 21:11

Evening everyone :)

yay for reaching 24 weeks jackie :) I count that as a milestone :) I've never heard of that re: breastfeeding. Sister number 3 was born by EMCS and BF fine, and sister number 4 was an ELCS and also fed fine. DS was a VB, and did not, would not, could not, etc, and so was bottle fed. Though that is the extent of my info, lol!

glad your 28 week appt went well cuphat

thankyou jazzy :) that sounds a good idea re: read only docs :)

cuphat · 06/03/2015 23:05

Jackie, DD was born by ELCS. I did struggle to feed her at first as she kept dropping off to sleep constantly, despite trying all the usual tricks. But the hospital weren't worried enough to keep us in; I was discharged after a day and a half. It took a week for my milk to come in properly so she did lose a lot of weight during that time (still within the normal limit though). But as soon as my milk came in properly she started to gain. I imagine as I didn't go into labour that might have had an impact.

Jackiebrambles · 07/03/2015 07:37

Thanks Cuphat and Kyz!

Well my appointment went well, consultant midwife was really lovely and we went through my labour last time in detail.

She was encouraging for a vbac but also very understanding of my fears of having an Emcs after tiring labour like last time and also my other worries.

So she's referred me to the consultant obsetrician at 36 weeks who I guess will give the final sign off and book the elcs in!

Feel pleased with the decision, I think! Still time to reconsider I guess and of course if I go into labour early then I guess I'll try for a vbac. Will have to discuss that at my appointment.

I am a bit worried about the feeding but know that with perseverance and constant feeding (ds was a v sleepy one too) that it should come good eventually. Fingers crossed. Have got a good pump so might take it into hospital with me in case it helps!

speedbird17 · 07/03/2015 16:32

Just a hello on here too! Packing boxes to move with a toddler has been rather interesting today, DD keeps trying to add her toys to boxes. I can imagine us finding a myriad of things we will 'lose' over the next couple of weeks as we unpack in our new house!

Oh the joys!

jazzyjenbo · 09/03/2015 16:28

Just a quick post for those that arnt on FB, had my first growth scan today. All is fine and baby is growing nicely, lovely seeing her more clearly, yawning and stretching. Head down aswell so hopefully thats where she will stay now.

Kyz · 09/03/2015 20:47

Evening all!

Gosh it's so quiet here!

Hope you all had a good weekend?

glad your appt went well jackie :)

yay gor good growth scan jazzy :)

oh gosh speed that does sound like an interesting thing to be doing!

My next appt is Weds, am going to ask about the whooping cough vaccine (i will write it down actually because i'm bound to forget)

Chookford · 10/03/2015 12:51

Hooray jazzy great news!

AnythingNotEverything · 10/03/2015 16:11

Afternoon all.

This thread keeps falling of my "threads I'm on" so I keep having to hunt for you Smile

I was reading about the whooping cough vaccine last night. I'd forgotten how early you have it so will expect an appointment soon after my next MW appointment.

25 weeks today! Finally seem to be getting somewhere.

Oh, and pelvic floor exercises ladies! Don't forget Grin

Loiterer · 10/03/2015 20:18

Hello everyone hope you are all ok?? I have been lurking a lot and not posting much - I am going through a very stressful period at work and we also have to move before baby arrives which is all proving quite stressful. I have an appointment with the mw tomorrow, not sure what it is for though. I am 25 weeks and thought I was supposed to make an appointment with the GP. Will be nice to see her anyway, I haven't seen her since I was 15 weeks. Any ideas what she will do?

Insomnia is starting to kick in and I'm hungry all. the. time. Hard to keep up with the exercise! Not much else to add... Oh, just that maternity clothes are minefield!! What does one wear??

AnythingNotEverything · 10/03/2015 20:25

Just wee dip and blood pressure I would think Loiterer. I think they do more bloods at 28 weeks.

There's a few Junebugs moving house before the babies come - you're not alone Smile

I'm just wondering about buying some more maternity tops. In a few weeks I might not think it's worth it but it's so hard trying to remember it'll be summer!

Kyz · 10/03/2015 20:38

Evening everyone :)

got my 28 week appt tomorrow, going to mention the whooping cough vaccine. Will be 29 weeks on Thursday, and I still have virtually nothing ready :/ ooh er!

hey loiterer sounds like a fair bit of stress, bless you :( as far as maternity wear goes, I just buy nice big baggy tops and leggings tbh so i'm not much help! I didn't have a 25 week appt as this is my second baby, plus I saw a consultant at the hospital around 24 weeks so didn't need to see the the MW then

Busy day tomorrow, taking the car for MOT re-test, and DS swimming, then appt! Hoping to spend less of tonight wide awake for no apparenty reason!
