I'm not sure why, but I don't seem to be able to add to the stats sheet. Is there something I'm missing? Feel a bit of an idiot!

mustbemad71 · 26/01/2015 15:03

Hi ladies please can I join in? I'm ancient at 43 and slightly terrified about having another baby at my age! This will be my third but first with DP. I recognise a few names *waves at January bus girlies!

I'm only 3 weeks plus 6 so trying not to get too excited until things are much further along. Have made a call to find out a bit more about the Harmony test as I'm so old - it wasn't around last time I was pregnant, in fact the nuchal scan had only just been invented!

How is everyone feeling? I'm knackered, boobs are huge and very sore and I'm feeling all over the place, excited one minute and terrified the next! Sorry about the essay!

alexmash12 · 26/01/2015 15:04

I've just found out I am facing redundancy. We waited this long to start having a family because we needed the maternity leave. I don't know what to do. I'm the bread winner. I'm so stressed I thought I was going to pass out.

Sorry to off load.

Mumwannabe82 · 26/01/2015 15:22

waves at mustbemad Grin Grin Grin lovely to see you on here xxx

Alex I'm so sorry to hear your news, I hope things work out for you Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Mumwannabe82 · 26/01/2015 15:25

ooh linga, you'll have to let us know how you get on xxx that would be crazy if you has another set if twins on the way Grin Grin

Linguaphile · 26/01/2015 15:25

Welcome Mad! Congrats on the BFP. :)

Alex oh no, that must be very stressful indeed, I'm so sorry to hear that. :( Surely you can tell them that you're pregnant, though--I think there are laws that make making a pregnant woman redundant illegal, or at least I would have thought they have to give you a fairly handsome payout. I'd immediately speak with HR and explain to them that you are pregnant and find out what your rights are.

mustbemad71 · 26/01/2015 15:37

Thanks Mum and Ling Grin

Alex I agree, I'd be tempted to get it on record with HR that you are pg ASAP. They may decide that they don't want to take the risk of a sex discrimination claim if they do select you for redundancy. Know any employment lawyer friends for a bit of free advice?

mustbemad71 · 26/01/2015 15:42

Ooo Ling - good news about the early scan. Knowledge is power!

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 26/01/2015 16:04

Congrats mustbe

Exciting, Ling! No ms here yet, just bad indigestion that's driving me nuts. Good luck for next week.

So sorry to hear that, alex Sad . As the others have said, it might be worth mentioning the pregnancy. Thanks

bluey11 · 26/01/2015 17:56

Congrats on the new bfps! No ms here yet but my boobs are really sore and I've been a bit moody.

Glad I'm not the only one looking at prams too! This is my first so it's all new to me. There's a lot of choice! Trying not to get ahead of myself though.

So sorry to hear that Alex, I hope you're doing ok? I work in HR and totally echo the other comments. If you don't have a HR team can you talk to your manager in confidence?

Also I had trouble adding to the stats sheet from my phone and tablet, but fine on dh's laptop :)

mustbemad71 · 26/01/2015 18:07

You lot are looking at prams - I'm looking at clothes! Maternity wear has moved on in the last 12 years - and thank God!

All I'd say about prams is that there is no need to go mad. I spent a small fortune back in 2000 on the pram that was in at the time and ditched the bloody thing when my second was born. Total waste of cash!

Mumwannabe82 · 26/01/2015 18:07

I think you have to be on the full site to update the sheet xxx

Frenchfancies · 26/01/2015 18:41

Hi mad congratulations and welcome! I'm feeling generally ok apart from anxiety and wailing over nothing every other hour!

Alex that's really crap, you should definitely speak to HR. I got made redundant in my last job and it is a stressful process, so sorry to hear you might be facing it, especially now Sad

ling I could only update the spreadsheet on a laptop rather than iPad or phone

Hehe I had a sneaky look at prams and travel systems and all these other things I know nothing about! And the maternity clothes in next are really quite nice too! thank fully I wear quite baggy tops already so hopefully no one will notice when I merge into them!

Hope everyone else had ok day x

Frenchfancies · 26/01/2015 19:00

I was looking at nursery bedding earlier too and there seems much more design choice if you're going for blue or pink! Think I will have to go neutral and then accessorise as wasn't planning on finding out the sex... So much to think about, my brain is on a baby-focused overdrive Grin

Cineraria · 26/01/2015 21:15

Welcome Mustbemad! I agree with you about maternity wear improving. I was looking for maternity sewing patterns on ebay and nothing seemed to change in maternity styles between 1980 and a few years ago! There were quite a few nice vintage patterns from the 1940s and 50s and even a few empire line ones from the 70s that I liked, though.

Alex, I'm so sorry to hear about the redundancy. Is it fairly certain or are they just letting you know it's a possibility a this stage?

I'm getting indigestion too, Angus. It's not too bad now but last time it got so painful around 8-10 weeks that I used to cry whenever I needed to eat something and the only time I felt normal was first thing when I hadn't eaten for hours. Then I remembered a friend having a jar of Andrews salts with her throughout her pregnancy and announcing that Andrew was her best friend, so I got some and although it didn't get rid of it, at least it was bearable enough to eat properly.

Cineraria · 26/01/2015 21:15

The stats sheet can be edited on phones and tablets although it's certainly easier on a computer/laptop and if anyone wants to add something and can't just post what you want to add here and I'll try to keep up with adding anything but anyone else can update it too!

Android:
open with drive app or
use Chrome browser and select desktop view from the left phone button menu to edit

Apple:
open with drive app or
use Safari browser and select desktop view by clicking in the address bar and pulling down the menu that appears or
use Chrome browser and select desktop view three dots menu top right
to edit you need to click the cell, then the formula bar then the cell again!

Mumwannabe82 · 27/01/2015 12:01

Off to the docs today to tell then I'm pregnant, getting a little bit real one bit at a time Wink

Allstoppedup · 27/01/2015 12:16

Hello!!!

Got my BFP yesterday (still in shock!) so have officially hopped off the conception bus on to the pregnancy one!

Still very early, digi puts us at 1-2 weeks but don't have periods due to PCOS (hence the shock!) so have no idea how many dpo I am! Could be looking at late Sept but more likely October!

We were actively trying for DC2 but expected it to take much longer!

I'm excited and terrified all in one go!

waves

mustbemad71 · 27/01/2015 12:46

Waves to All and congrats!! Hoping we see the other girlies from the Jan bus too - more BFPs this morning!

Mum let us know how you get on. I'm booked in to see GP a week on Friday all being well. Not only am I ancient, I've got a bloody great fibroid to worry about although it is on the outside of the womb so hopefully won't be a problem, except that I already look 4 months gone! Shock

Mumwannabe82 · 27/01/2015 14:02

hi, so....... apparently you can tell your Doctor you are pregnant and they just believe you lol xx didn't do a test but she gave me lots of info on healthy eating and exercise during pregnancy then filled in a form to send to the midwife who should get in touch with me soon to organise first appointment which is normally when you are about 8 weeks so mine is only in 4 weeks time and she books my first scan too.
So thats it really ladies oh and she used her wheel and said I was due 5 Oct but she doesn't know when I ovulate so I still reckon the scan will say the 3rd Oct Grin Grin Grin Grin

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 27/01/2015 14:27

Glad it all went well! Looking forward to my first appointment next week!

We're living in the US at the moment so my first appointment is here. I called the midwife unit at home, panicking as we don't arrive back in the UK til I'm 7 weeks and was worried about booking in appointments and scans. She was lovely and said they'd definitely squeeze me in! I'll just need to get registered with a gp asap!

Frenchfancies · 27/01/2015 14:32

Hi allstoppedup and congrats!

Mum yes that's what they said to me too, and I assumed they would do some sort of test but didn't! My GP said to just carry on life as normal (yeh right!) and gave me mc statistics which deflated me somewhat.

I have first midwife visit this Thursday though to have a quick chat so hope she's a bit more enthusiastic.

Glossyflower · 27/01/2015 15:36

Did a test yesterday with a faint line, it was from Poundland and didn't want to believe it! Got a First Response as AF not due til tomorrow and yes BFP!!
I already have a 21 month old daughter (had severe hyperemesis with her Confused ) Should be due around October 8th. No symptoms other than feeling a bit more tired Grin

Allstoppedup · 27/01/2015 15:42

Congrats glossy! Yeah I have a 13 month old here and was hospitalized with HG too...its so early but I'm already a bit nervous about symptoms starting and HG developing!

Good luck!

Glossyflower · 27/01/2015 16:01

Allstoppedup, when did your symptoms start with HG? I remember the week I was due on I felt a bit sicky, then gradually got off food and nauseous. Proper vomiting started about week 6 by week 9 in hospital.
As I'm early days now, I'm going to take vitamin B supplements, and keep eating and drinking as much as I can before it sets in. If it sets in. I really hope it doesn't lol
