Cycles were really short and unpredictable so thats just a guestamate!! Not many symptoms atm just extreamly tierd, sore nipplesBlush and very forgettable ( not much change there) me and dh are over the moon!!!

Mumwannabe82 · 25/01/2015 16:29

congratulations hodds Grin

alexmash12 · 25/01/2015 17:00

Hello Ladies,

Would you mind if I joined. I got a bfp (still trying to learn all of these) on Saturday. Had a faint line on a Boots cheapy then splashed out on a Clearblue digi and it confirmed 1-2 weeks.

My husband and I are super excited but slightly in disbelief - took as a month to conceive. This is our first.

Please can I ask a really stupid question? Due date calculators say I am due on 3rd but obviously this calculates from the first day of my last period. If I go from the day we conceived (it's one of two days) it's closer to the 17th October.

Which day should I go from? I am desperate to know how things change from week to week during my pregnancy.

Currently feel great but my breasts are huge and mega sensitive.

Congratulations to you all - what did women do before the internet!?!?

Alex

shieldbug · 25/01/2015 17:14

So sorry fried, take care of yourself.
Alex, The calculator (and everything from now on work it out from the first day of your last period, so even though I'm really only about 3 weeks, it has calculated me as 5 weeks. The due date takes all of this into account, so your correct due date is the 3rd. The reason is that cycles vary enormously so the only definite is the LMP (last menstrual period).
Special congrats to all those with their 1st; it's an exciting but worrying time, so use this thread to ask as many questions as you like; hopefully someone will know the answer!
This is my 3rd (I have 2ds who are 1 and 4), but I'm an old Mum as I will be 42 when this one is born (and I know many of the risks associated with that too).

alexmash12 · 25/01/2015 17:25

Thank you so much Shieldbug. And congratulations on your growing family.

I feel such a sense of relief to have a thread like this. I'm the first of my girlfriends to start a family so this really is in chartered territory.

AnnaBegins · 25/01/2015 17:42

Glad you found MN then alex! This will be my first too so all very new to me, and I'm also one of the first of my friends.

Frenchfancies · 25/01/2015 17:47

Thanks cineraria, hi Alex and congrats to everyone else.

So sorry to hear that fried, all the best x Flowers

It makes me wonder whether I should try and contain my excitement a bit. Feel so nervous about me actually causing a mc. I picked up a heavish basket with stuff in earlier and thought ooh maybe I shouldn't be doing that and felt twingey and I don't know if half of this stuff is in my head or real Confused usually I'm hauling stuff about willy-nilly and so not sure what I should be doing or not. Arghhhh....

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 25/01/2015 19:19

Welcome to all the new bfps! Smile

Cineraria · 25/01/2015 19:21

Hi Hodds and Alex, so nice to see more people joining us. I love thinking of other people feeling as excited as I do.

Shield, it's really nice to see someone else over 40 having a baby (I will be 40 next week and was feeling quite old to be doing this, especially for the first time) and also great to have someone who's a bit of an expert after two pregnancies!

French, I keep thinking things like that too. It's hard to know what's ok and what isn't and difficult sometimes to remember to be more careful than usual.

Linguaphile · 25/01/2015 19:34

Ah, really sorry Fried. :(

Welcome to the new BFPs!

I'm shattered today. Not feeling sick, though, so that's good. Shamefully dug out and watched for the zillionth time the 'What to Expect' film (with Cameron Diaz, Anna Kendrick, etc) this afternoon to get myself into baby-growing mood...

Luckynumber3 · 25/01/2015 19:53

Hi to all the new bfps. So exciting.

My due date is 2nd oct and have another digital to take to hopefully see 2-3 weeks. I had 1-2 weeks on the test on fri so just wondering when I should use it. It's mad isnt it that we worry so much taking more tests to try to put our mind at rest. I hate the first few weeks for this reason.

This is also my 3rd pregnancy. I have 2ds 6 and 3 and I'm 34.

Great news about your early scan ling. my gp closed and u haven't re-registered yet so this is first on my 2 do list tom.

Hope u r all feeling well Grin

Cineraria · 25/01/2015 20:07

I would be tempted to do the next test exactly a week after your first one, Lucky as levels can vary a lot from person to person and there is quite a lot of overlap in what's normal for week 1-2 since conception and week 2-3 since conception (see weeks 4 and 5 since LMP here and it would be upsetting not to see it move just because you did it a day before it would have moved on.

Frenchfancies · 25/01/2015 20:34

Oooh ling I've never seen that film... Will have to give it a whirl. Exciting!

And thank you whoever added my stats, went to do it and they were already there Grin

I'm going away with work in a few weeks (I will be approx 8wks then) and I just already do not want to go at all...I feel like cancelling everything unless it's with my DH. Feel like I need him everywhere with me at the moment, which is very unlike me! Haha!

Luckynumber3 · 25/01/2015 22:47

Thanks for that info cine. I have just had a quick look. It's really interesting. So I will try to leave it till next week.

Need to stay positive and get over these next few weeks. Smile

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 25/01/2015 23:39

Will someone slap me? Researching double buggies. I know not to do this kind of stuff so early but I can't seem to stop myself! Aaarrrrgh.

alexmash12 · 26/01/2015 06:54

Congrats Boyle!

Angus - I am the same - will confess to buying a maternity dress already!

Should I be worried about my working pattern. I have to get up at 2 in the morning every day. I feel fine at the moment but if I get 6 hours sleep I consider myself lucky - is this ok?

Linguaphile · 26/01/2015 09:17

Oh wow, that is super early Alex! How do you cope??

Angus I had my husband panic-researching houses and cars yesterday, so double buggies isn't all that bad. Grin. Have also been re-thinking our buggy situation. We're up in a first floor flat and have been managing with the buggy okay, but I think it would be a little ridiculous of me to try lifting it up/down the stairs whilst managing two toddlers and being pregnant. We have the Bugaboo Donkey, which I absolutely love pushing around but is a pain to get into a car boot (we're in London, so haven't had or needed a car up to now, but with three kids under 2.5 it might be more of a necessity for going to see grandparents, etc). Would be amazing if we could buy a car that would let us store it in the boot in completely assembled, but then that's a bit ridiculous to buy a car to suit your buggy. Then again, with three/four kids, we're there in S-Max or Galaxy territory anyway, so it might be a happy accident that we can get something with a cavernous boot anyway. Trying to decide if we should go the route of a more collapsible buggy like the BJCM and get a buggy board or if we should get one of those ABC adventure triple/quad buggies. Decisions, decisions.

Still, early days.

Mumwannabe82 · 26/01/2015 10:03

Hi Lucky, my due date is the 3rd Oct (ish), I took a digi on Friday too which also said 1 to 2 weeks and going to take my next digi on Friday to confirm hcg is rising lol xxx

Frenchfancies · 26/01/2015 10:27

Total emotional wreck today. I can't be like this at work! Arghhh Confused

Cineraria · 26/01/2015 10:37

So glad to know I'm not the only one already looking into what to transport the baby in when it arrives. I've always had a hankering for a traditional large pram rather than the smaller convertible type. It should fit in to our house ok and I don't drive so would be walking locally mostly and there is step free access at one of our local stations too so it would be fairly practical.

I remember my brother having one and bouncing him in it because that was how he'd go to sleep most easily but I was always a bit annoyed that I was too old to have one of the seats on top like our neighbour's children had.

They are really expensive new so I suggested getting a vintage one (I like the 1960s ones with the curved base more than the flat based ones from the 70s and 80s) and buying a new interior for it. DH was a bit horrified at the thought of a second hand pram but when he saw the condition of the ones I showed him on ebay he seemed to come round.

Alex, I think your body will tell you if you're not getting enough sleep and then maybe you will feel like taking a nap when you get in from work if you can't sleep any earlier than you do now. I'm waking up really early in the mornings at the moment and can't get back to sleep but I often feel like sleeping for half an hour in the evening.

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 26/01/2015 12:29

Grin Oh good - I don't feel quite so obsessive now!

I have the Bugaboo Cameleon 3, which I absolutely adore and can barely fault and I have been eyeing up the Donkey in the park! I did see Uppababy has released their 2015 Vista (exclusive to JL) and it ticks almost all my boxes. I need a test push, but maybe not quite yet!Grin

alexmash12 · 26/01/2015 13:15

Wow, buggies - this is a daunting world I am yet to brave.

Stupid question - how and where do we add out details to the shared document.

I booked my first appointment with my doctor today for Friday the 13th!!!!

Cineraria · 26/01/2015 13:40

Hi Alex,

The stats sheet is here: Stats Sheet. I added you to it but only name and due date (at the top as it's alphabetical!), so feel free to add anything else you want.

We bought our house on Friday the 13th and have been really happy there. It feels like a lucky day to me now rather than an unlucky one.

Linguaphile · 26/01/2015 14:53

So, I’ve just been booked in for an early scan to check for multiples! I go in next Tuesday morning (the 3rd). Exciting, though not expecting to see a heartbeat yet as I'll only be 5w3d by then. Hopefully if that's the case they'll do what they did last time and book me in for a follow-up a week or two later just to make sure it's all viable.

Just had a friend of mine over for lunch with her new baby and it all still feels so removed at the moment! Maybe that's a good thing... better not to get attached too early. Two of my really good mum friends have had miscarriages in the last 6 months on their second pregnancy, so it feels a very real possibility.

Morning sickness is setting in, though. Beginnings of dull nausea that last until about 10am, so not bad at all, but I worry it will suddenly roar into place with full-force in about 2 weeks. Anyone else there?
