i had the hormones yesterday i think!

he could get another job but he is difficult when trying to suggest things like this. he will just brush me off and say stop worrying.

we dont do very well for money at the min, we are going to save money for baby things but not sure we'll be able to stretch to anything else. we could cut back more but my dp seems to think we are skint already even though i feel like we have quite a nice lifestlye were not well off by any means but we eat out have takeaways and dp drinks in the house twice a week. i feel like baby comes first now and i dont know when that will kick in with dp.

i feel so stupid!

alien11 · 12/02/2015 11:53

gingerbread this is our 2nd and as I'm not working it's going to be very different. Luckily we kept alot of dd stuff. Also all children need is somewhere safe & warm to live, food and nappies, clothes to wear. Breastfeeding if it's what you want to do saves so much money. I did it for 5.5 months. Clothes- eBay do great bundles or local fb selling pages are also a great source. Toys- same again. Secondhand things are a good idea , baby won't care what he/she is in.

alien11 · 12/02/2015 11:54

sarky group mw session?! No way I would go to that . That's terrible! No new mum should have to do that !

sarkymare · 12/02/2015 12:03

Its compulsory. I did it in November. I'm not doing it again this time. They can bugger off. I do not need to sit in a room with other pregnant women to be told what we can and can't eat and that we must wear seatbelts during pregnancy.

gingerbreadmam · 12/02/2015 12:06

thanks alien i think we will be fortunate on the baby front. dps parents r seperated and it is both of their first grandchild. i am also my parents only daughter and although they have other gc i think it will be different as i am their dd. well my dm has already kind of said this, plus she will be childcare when i return to work.

it is the maternity leave bit i am worried about, how we will be able to pay the bills etc. i know i can return early which i reluctantly will if necessary jus panic has hit. its hormones isnt it. now i have read what i have just wrote i have instantly relaxed a touch Grin

Glossyflower · 12/02/2015 12:06

With DD we wondered how we would cope with finances but actually you do find you manage and adapt.
I decorated the nursery for less than £200. The cot was brand new but sold by a local family on eBay (just have to keep an eye out for collection only items). Changing table and wardrobe also from eBay, used but in great condition.
As the nursery is a small room, a friend had just laid a carpet and we used his massive off cut. The most expensive thing I bought for the room was the wallpaper. My nan bought the curtains and lightshade. I bought no clothes whatsoever until a few weeks before due date as I really wanted to get something so we bought some sleepsuits. The rest was given to me, and when DD was born all my friends and family bought her enough to keep her going for a year lol.
My 3 in 1 travel system I got lucky with. My cousin found out she was pregnant at the same time and she bought it, secondhand but in excellent condition (think it was grandparents set). Then my cousin found out she was expecting twins so she gave me her travel system and did not want any money for it.
I breastfed for 7 months so no formula to buy.
Nappies - I bought washable ones. A set of 20, used but again excellent condition and used disposables from time to time.
A newborn doesn't have to cost much. I have noticed that they cost more as they get older. However DD had so many presents for her birthday and Christmas from friends and family we really do not need to buy her more.
As long as they are clothed, fed and sheltered along with lots of love and attention they don't need anything else.
I have a friend who went out and spent £700 + on really nice silver cross prams which they don't realise a baby outgrows within a year.
They look lovely but expensive and not very practical.
DD now goes to a childminder twice a week and I have enrolled in the childcare voucher scheme at work. So my child care costs are paid before I get taxed. Xxx

gingerbreadmam · 12/02/2015 12:21

thanks glossy as its only early days and first dc i havent really thought about bf and i know it can all change when baby comes but that would help moneywise.

i have a big family so clothes etc i neednt worry its just usual bills but as i said when i have thought about i know we will manage.

the hormones seem to be swaying me between panic and relief ha. thank you for all the suggestions and it is nice to know i am not alone.

Twinkletoes007 · 12/02/2015 12:38

Hi ladies, after a bit of reassurance. Tmi alert and it is lunch time so apologies! This morning and just now I have creamy cm tinged with brown. No other symptoms other than what I've had for the last week or so - bloating touch of nausea. I did have a sharp twinge in my tummy button area earlier today. But that's it. Should I be worried and if so who do I call? I have a GP appt next week and getting seen earlier won't happen. Id just like to speak to someone but not sure who!! Thanks x

gingerbreadmam · 12/02/2015 12:47

how far along are you twinkle?

i dont know if i have a weirdly high belly button but i imagine early on ur unlikely to have any sensations there connected to pregnancy however i could be wrong. im sure i read someone on here baby is just behind pubic bone at this stage.

Twinkletoes007 · 12/02/2015 13:02

4 weeks

gingerbreadmam · 12/02/2015 13:11

me too be 5 wks monday. any blood now could just be implantation so i wouldnt worry too much spesh if u dont have cramps or anything.

i dont think a dr or epau would actually do anything for someone at this stage as its so early.

try not to worry im sure everythings is completely fine, things just settling in and making room.

i dont have many symptoms especially last 2 days just a dull ached in lower back / tummy. tiredness and occasional nausea. just remember were so early lots of people dont even know theyre pregnant at our stage Smile

Twinkletoes007 · 12/02/2015 13:56

Thanks gingerbread. Hope all will be fine. I'm having a really stressful day at work today as well which I could do without

gingerbreadmam · 12/02/2015 14:06

it will be dont worry be fine. ohr heck that doesnt help hope ur day gets a little better.

alien11 · 12/02/2015 14:36

Hi twinkle I has spotting at what was 4 weeks however I thought i was 8 weeks. Anyway the sonographer/doc who did my early scan at 5+6 said any spotting around 5ish weeks until 8ish can be normal as it's the body getting ready to grow baby. Only worry if accompanied with bad cramps and lots of spotting/red/brown.
My implantation bleed happened around 3.5/4.5 weeks for a few days.

The icky feeling I had with dd has come back! Need to eat constantly to stop feeling sick. I'm on holiday in just over 2 weeks I hope it's gone a bit by then( wishful thinking!!)

MrsEvansAlmost · 12/02/2015 16:00

I'm getting impatient and want bean here to cuddle now!! and hormones have been a bitch! I got 7 full hours of sleep last night and I've been irritable and cranky. dp has annoyed me but I know as soon as I see him all will be forgiven!! I think I'd rather have the all day nausea than these mood swings!

Twinkletoes007 · 12/02/2015 18:33

Hi all, cramping has become really acute now on one side so I rang the local hospital and said I'm sure it's fine bit just wanted to check and the lady said you need to get to A&E ASAP tomorrow. Arghhh.
So worried now.

batfish · 12/02/2015 19:16

Aww twinkle hopefully nothing to worry about but definitely go for a check over, hope the pain eases off soon.

I'm pretty familiar with dildocam! Medical stuff doesn't bother me at all so I don't bat an eyelid - I live in the land of private health insurance so my gynae used it at every available opportunity so he can charge loads of money! I have a thyroid problem and a year or so ago my medication sent my cycles crazy so I had a couple of checks and he always used it. So luckily it wasn't a surprise at all when he whipped it out for yesterday's scan.

Told the parents tonight. I have actually really not enjoyed telling family for some reason even though they are all over the moon, I just found it so scary that I was almost hyperventilating before telling each person!

crazypuglady · 12/02/2015 19:23

Oh twinkle I really hope it's nothing. Have they said why in the morning and not now?

How did you decide who to tell first batfish? It sounds daft but we don't ant to tell one set of parents before the other in case the other feels second best!

BitchBags · 12/02/2015 20:17

twinkle I hope all is ok and il keep my fingers crossed for you tomorrow. Flowers

Fallinggracefully · 12/02/2015 20:21

Hoping you are feeling better now Twinkle. Whilst singing many many verses of row row row your boat to DD whilst stuck in a giant traffic jam this evening it suddenly occurred to me... In not that long there'll be 2 of them! Then I'll be outnumbered... I really don't know how to survive with 2. I think I'm more scared now than I was first time round!

AnnaBegins · 12/02/2015 20:22

Fingers crossed for tomorrow twinkle, really hope the pain subsides and all is well

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 12/02/2015 20:22

Hope all is ok tomorrow Twinkle Flowers

Hotpotpie · 12/02/2015 20:32

Twinkle, fingers crossed it turns out to be nothing. I ended up at a&e one night with severe cramps in one side when I was about 6 weeks in my first pregnancy, and she's three very soon

batfish · 13/02/2015 06:35

crazy I didn't really want to tell any of them quite this early but we live overseas and my parents arrived yesterday for 2 weeks! We all like a drink and so I thought there would be no way I could hide it. So we decided we would tell my parents yesterday when they arrived. And we wanted to have our own time with everyone else on Skype rather than talking to them with my parents in the background so we spoke to his parents and his sister on Wednesday and my sister on Tuesday. The weird thing is that my mum had said that she had a feeling on the plane that we would have some news for her.

twinkle let us know how you get on today, thinking of you

gingerbreadmam · 13/02/2015 06:54

hope things go ok today twinkle
