Me too crazy, suddenly it doesn't seem so far away...!

Honestly, dildocam isn't as bad as it sounds. Actually, at my 6+0 scan she tried using the tummy scanner first, and I had to have a full bladder - it was really painful and I thought I would wet myself. Luckily she then let me go to the loo before dildocam came out.... and it is definitely less uncomfortable than a smear test - no scraping involved!

Frenchfancies · 11/02/2015 22:06

Whhaattt is a dildocam!!? For early scans do they use something up in you then!? I thought it was just the jelly thing on your stomach!

Oh and has anyone else lost the ability to be patient and tactful because I could really do with finding mine again! Blush #sisterinlawnottalkingtome

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 11/02/2015 22:16

I dunno...I definitely remember proddage!

EssexWelsh · 11/02/2015 22:34

dildocam is exactly as it sounds, they even put a condom and lubricant on it to go 'up'! I had the pleasure of that fortnightly throughout my first pregnancy as they had to keep an eye on my cervix due to previous surgery. It's not painful and is just one of those things once you're upduffed you get used to but is definitely a lie back and think of the baby when it's happening!

martinsgirl · 11/02/2015 23:23

Oh not sure I like the sound of dildocam... Lol

I have no energy! Haven't been napping but anything requiring effort is becoming a struggle. 10min walk from station to work that I do every day left me so tired today!

Popped into Mothercare while I was waiting on my train, got a bit overwhelmed at all the stuff we will need. Had obviously thought about cots and prams and things but wandering round the shops I kept seeing nail clippers and thermometers and hundreds of other little things I hadn't considered.

crazypuglady · 12/02/2015 06:29

Oh don't MartinsGirl I'm already becoming neurotic about how little I actually know about babies. I've never actually been involved in looking after one and now I'm about to pop one out that I'm responsible for!

alien11 · 12/02/2015 06:39

martinsgirl crazypuglady
Don't worry! I had never had any experience with babies before my dd and she seems a perfectly normal 3.5 yr old Smile
1st time I was overwhelmed with seeing everything but this time I'll be more choosy with what I need.
Re nail clippers-god send! I had tommy tippee little set and although the rest of the set has long gone I still use the clippers for dd nails.
I'm going to be quite excited re prams after 20 wk scan as I borrowed my sisters bugaboo then had cheapy ones. This time I'll be choosing my own Smile
I have things such as making sure baby has a nursery fully decorated before arriving on my mind as dd didn't as I was paranoid until she was here!

alien11 · 12/02/2015 06:51

Oh and before I forget I downloaded the app pregnancy+ by health and parenting I think it is. It has really lovely images of baby's growth. Definitely worth a look at. It's my fav at the mo

Fallinggracefully · 12/02/2015 06:55

Morning! Please can I join your merry bus? BFP on Tuesday. DC2. Hasn't really sunk in yet!

crazypuglady · 12/02/2015 07:09

Thanks alien Smile

I think there's a lot of unnecessary things that are pushed as essentials. I'm lucky in that I have a lot of mum mates. I've just never really had much involvement with their babies other than a coo over coffee. I just can't wait to be able to tell people!

Coolchic12 · 12/02/2015 07:09

Morning ladies, so funny re dildocam??! I had it done before, as the other say, it's not as bad as it sounds you just feel it's there not much discomfort. We'll start make our list of purchases after the 12 week scan, but gave a rough idea of how much things cost.

Coolchic12 · 12/02/2015 07:20

Welcome to the crazy October Falling??

alien11 · 12/02/2015 07:26

Welcome Falling Smile it still hasn't sunk in for me either.
cool that's great ! I didn't have any mum friends but NCT was amazing for me as I met some good friends and defo a lifelong friend Smile
After my 12/20wk scan I'll be raiding my mums house as all dd stuff is in the eaves of her house /garage! Not sure what I kept . Im hoping a lot as not working this time !

alien11 · 12/02/2015 07:36

I meant crazypuglady re mummy mates. My baby brain never repaired from dd!

crazypuglady · 12/02/2015 07:58

Welcome Falling not real here either.

Ha ha, don't worry alien I expect we'll all be getting it wrong by October Grin

I'll be looking into NCT when the time comes. I need all the help I can get! I haven't got a clue.

I may be imagining it but my uterus feels harder and it doesn't go as flat when I suck it in. Is that even possible at 4+2? (4+4 by my estimate but I'm sticking with FF for now)

sarkymare · 12/02/2015 09:04

I had dildo cam with my first. I wasn't expecting it, I went to lift my top up and she told me drop my knickers and put my knee's up Blush it was a little uncomfortable, but nothing major. I've had it since and it hasn't bothered me. It's far better than the time I had a speculum inserted and an extremely bright light shined up there so two nurses could have a good look

I'm debating whether or not I should Inform my doctor/MW that I am pregnant or wait for a few weeks. What do you think?

4+6

alien11 · 12/02/2015 09:19

sarky I told docs after I had taken about 4 tests haha. They need to know so you can get booked in with a mw.at my docs apparently mw are short staffed so needed to book ASAP.i had my appt with doc 3 weeks ago so could have only been 3 weeks pregnant!booking appt was for 10 weeks but now I've been put back it's for 8 weeks

sarkymare · 12/02/2015 09:45

There's no short staffing here. They would make me go to a bloody compulsory group session within the next two weeks, then a booking in appt at 8 weeks.

I'm thinking of just waiting until 6/7 weeks, tell them then. Have my booking in appt and then I will most likely be offered an early scan due to a recent MMC.

gaggiagirl · 12/02/2015 09:46

Lovely to hear all your preggers news!
Waves at town and bat
I'm loving that you put the dog in the pram mrs
I'm 6 weeks today. Giant burning painful norks.

LakeOfDreams · 12/02/2015 10:38

Snarky probably best to get in touch if you want an early scan as they'll need to send off referrals.

Apparently I was very bad! I phoned the GP and the receptionist told me the MW only covers the surgery for 3 hrs on a Friday so doesn't have any booking appts until end of March. She gave me the number of the community team and they arranged one. They said pop into your surgery and get the bounty pack. I went and the receptionist went crazy, apparently the GP has to give out bounty packs ect ect.

Funnily enough the GP can't see me before the booking in appt so she gave it to me reluctantly!!

Last year I lived on the other side of town so had a different community team, funny how the procedures are so different. Over there the GP wasn't interested the midwife sorted everything.

No symptoms aside from exhaustion, how on earth do people do this with kids!!

gingerbreadmam · 12/02/2015 10:42

does anyone else worry about money on maternity leave?

i know its a bit late to be worrying now but my dp has just dropped a gem on me. his work are cutting down on staff in september there are 3 staff for the same job. he is the newest and is only working towards his qualification. tbf he is probably the most experienced in a particular aspect of the job which could win it for him but if it doesn he'll be lucky to earn half my wage a month and some months nothing Sad

we need to move which is going to be a biggish jump in rent anyway and then this? oh man!

LakeOfDreams · 12/02/2015 11:05

What is you maternity allowance? Is it possible for your DP to do work for other companies or perhaps look for another job entirely. We put aside a bit each month so we had some extra for when I was on maternity leave, we also had pretty much got everything we needs slowly throughout the pregnancy.

Fizzy13 · 12/02/2015 11:27

Wow, you lot have been busy. Maternity pay, prams, nail clippers. ..
I can't manage anything other than work, eat, sleep, repeat! Didn't even manage that today.
Felt terrible this morning and after retching from just looking in the fridge I burst into tears. Proper dramatic sobs! I think some hormones might have arrived. I went back to bed and slept for another 3 hrs.

MrsEvansAlmost · 12/02/2015 11:44

the maternity allowance from government is £500 a month not taxed.

we have the same issue ginger need to move as in 1 bed flat dp is self employed so isn't entitled to paternity pay/leave but he can work from home for the first week (or until I feel safe enough for him to leave me alone with a small person.. that might be never!) we only pay 700 now with bills and shopping all inc so our jump will be more like 850 just on rent then council tax bills shopping. Sad Sad panicking majorly and reading through my work contract I don't qualify for advanced mat pay as I will of only been with them 18 months not 24 when I need mat leave! I'm trying to keep panic from dp as he's just come round to the idea of having baby but now pooing myself!!
