Hello ladies! A big congratulations to you all! Got my BFP yesterday!!! So excited but I was wondering if any of you can recommend a Private obs/Gynaec in London. I'm totally clueless and have no idea who to see! Thank you!!

crazypuglady · 07/02/2015 20:13

Hetty yes it's very dry but my cheeks have gone all lumpy bumpy. Like spots without heads. Nowhere else though, just my cheeks.

Theboxtrollsareallowed · 07/02/2015 20:21

I have super itchy/dry skin but only on my legs - it's driving me crazy already...it's strange as this symptom made me think I must be pregnant as had it on all my early pregnancies. Must be hormones or something.

crazypuglady · 07/02/2015 20:28

Thanks thebox I've been having so many symptoms I can't keep track. I'd have put money on a BFP as soon as I took the test. Of course, while I waited for it to develop I convinced myself I was bonkers.

It hadn't occurred to me that the skin could be a symptom until I read a website earlier that listed it as a common symptom of early pregnancy.

HettyB · 07/02/2015 20:30

Mine is itchy on my hands, ankles and sometimes elbows...strange!

That's the only symptom I've had really! This still doesn't feel real, despite 5 positive tests and counting!

crazypuglady · 07/02/2015 20:54

Hetty don't get me wrong, it still doesn't feel real, like real. But I've been almost passing out every time I stand up (my mum even asked if I was pregnant at the start of the week when it happened), my boobs are big and tender, I keep burping which is really unlike me, I nearly threw up at work yesterday then felt fine again immediately after and I've had strange twinges in the uterus area for the last week.

My hands are really dry too but that's not very unusual for me.

catlady87 · 07/02/2015 21:11

Is anyone else super bloated? I keep having to undo my jeans. Maybe I've just put on weight...

Cineraria · 07/02/2015 21:32

Yes, those are the ones Angus! Some of the designs are really nice and not too expensive either, although shipping will put it up a bit if you wait until you're back in the UK.

Hetty, my GP contacted the midwives and they sent me the details of my booking appointment with a note to say the hospital doing the scanning would be in touch shortly. I think some people are given the midwives' contact details to get in touch themselves though, so it depends on your GP.

I'm another one with dry, cracked skin but that's not unusual for me so I hadn't connected it to the pregnancy. I usually get a bit like that the week before my period, actually, when I have fluid retention. It's almost as if the hormones divert all the water I drink to make me huge instead of keeping my skin soft!

artyone · 07/02/2015 21:47

I can't keep up with this thread, we will have to make a Facebook group soon as it is so much easier!!

In my area we don't see the GP at all, we call the drs and get a midwife booking in appt and they arrange a scan which we get the date for in the post.

crazypuglady · 07/02/2015 21:52

Yes to the bloated catlady, got my jamas on now so that my gut can hang out!

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 07/02/2015 21:53

Yes, artyone, the FB group is way easier to follow, esp if this group gets larger Smile

I might have to wait anyway, Cine. Postage takes FOREVER here and we leave on Friday Shock Confused Grin . Might stick in an order in with our UK address.

Kym134 · 07/02/2015 23:08

I agree with facebook. I have about 30 posts to read each time! Brought a book today and a little baby gro (darth Vader saying I am the father) for my DH and he is going to show it to his mum tomorrow. Told my close family today and they are all really excited so feel a bit less worry and more excitement now.
My face is really dry and itchy. Surprised that it might be a pregnancy symptom!
Managed to get my NHS number so need to phone the midwives on Monday. Managed to find the Buckinghamshire CCG website with what to do and the numbers!
Glad everyone is getting appointments sorted but it is interesting the difference everywhere on the procedure!

townsender · 07/02/2015 23:23

Nikki try the fetal medicine center (FMC) for private in London, if you don't want to use the NHS. Not used them yet myself, but read a few good reviews, and I've booked myself in for the Harmony test there in a few weeks time.

Nikki1211 · 08/02/2015 00:29

Thank you so much townsender. Will definitely check it out, is there any particular private consultant you can recommend/ heard of? Thanks so much once again!

HettyB · 08/02/2015 07:29

I'm really hoping someone can reassure me... I've just done a Clearblue test that tells you the weeks, and it said less than I thought (I'm already allowing for the fact it calculates from conception, not LMP).

I know I'm 5+2 ish, so it should be reading 3+ weeks, but it said 2-3. Should I be concerned?

When should I test again to see if it progresses?

Also, whilst I used first morning wee, I did get up in the night to pee (around 2.30am) - will this have affected the result?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm worried my hcg isn't increasing like it should and that might mean I lose the baby...

crazypuglady · 08/02/2015 07:50

I wouldn't worry too much hetty I googled the sensitivity of them yesterday when I bought one to use in a few days and there was quite a few posts online about the weeks estimator being slightly out. Maybe try at 6 weeks?

HettyB · 08/02/2015 07:55

Panic over - I've just googled too and found lots of stories about the weeks indicator being less than reliable.

I'll do another next weekend and see what it says.

I really can't be doing with daily panics until 12 weeks - I'll drive myself round the twist! (Hands up if you're now singing "have you ever...ever felt like this?")

crazypuglady · 08/02/2015 08:26

Hands up!

I loved that programme. My DH hated it and thinks I'm a saddo because I sing it.

martinsgirl · 08/02/2015 08:48

First maternity purchase yesterday! Had to buy a couple of maternity bras to sleep in as my boobs are so sore and all my normal bras are underwired so not very comfy to sleep in. Was a brilliant idea, they feel much better this morning!

catlady87 · 08/02/2015 09:43

I feel hungover.

So unfair!

crazypuglady · 08/02/2015 10:07

Oooooo maternity purchases. That makes it sound real.

I must admit, I'm definitely feeling pregnant this morning. Just about everything is making me burp! Slight nausea but not much thankfully. I hate being sick Sad

ibeka · 08/02/2015 10:25

I feel hing over today too...

What are peoples approaches to caffeine? I just asked DP for a coffee (first in 2weeks) and he's handed me the tiniest cup ever with a very disapproving look!!!

crazypuglady · 08/02/2015 10:31

One coffee a day is fine. I just contemplated having one now but decided to wait til I finish work and have a caramel macchiato out of the tassimo machine. Well, if I'm only allowed 1 it may aswell be a good one Grin

Hotpotpie · 08/02/2015 10:31

I've re tested today as Fridays was only a faint line, and today's, if anything is a bit fainter again. Feeling a bit resigned to an early mc today not a great end to the week

townsender · 08/02/2015 10:33

Hands up to round the twist! Crazy programme that it was.

And ditto also to the bras. I 'upgraded' last weekend from 32C to 34C and felt much better. Still underwired though - I'm hoping I'll get another week or so out of 34C before I have to ditch the underwire.

AND ditto to the hungover feel. No headache, but dehydrated, tired, and want carbs, carbs, carbs....

Caffeine, my approach is to drink it if I want it (not a million cups a day of course, but I usually have 1 or 2). Have been having it this week, but this weekend I don't fancy it, along with the hungover feeling, think its the start of 1st trimester sickness starting to loom.
