Also pleased so see a few skiers here - I'm off to Whistler for a once in a life time trip (bad timing!!) at half term and feeling a bit worried about that too...

katew66 · 06/02/2015 10:36

Welcome all newbies and congrats- wow I cant get on here much so it takes ages to read back though everything- sorry if I dont seem very conversational but its hard to keep up!! I have just called surgery and booked in to see midwife on the 3rd march- why are some secretarys so RUDE!! Especially when something good is happening!
And hello and welcome to my old friend nausea-wham- from nothing at all to feeling sick all the time since yesterday!! At least I know its real :)
Friends coming round for tea tonight- they know we have been trying- will they ask and should I tell???

batfish · 06/02/2015 10:48

ibeka don't worry too much about skiing but at the same time don't do anything you are not comfortable with. I am an average skier so I don't do anything crazy and I've always been scared of hurting myself so I'm very cautious at the best of times. So this week I have skiied most days but have refused to do anything that I thought I might struggle with. We had to tell the friends we are here with as there is no way I would have been able to avoid the alcohol, sausage and runny cheeses for a week without them totally guessing - it really worried me at first telling them soooo early but it has been good as well as if I have been taking it easy they have understood why. Hope you have an amazing trip!

kate it's totally up to you whether you tell them or not. I have been sort of forced to tell some friends and to be honest I wouldn't have if I hadn't been on holiday with them because I'm freaked out by the earliness. However I would still have told 2 friends who knew we were TTC as I would talk to them if anything happened. I suppose you have to think that if anything went wrong (which I'm sure it won't) would you be comfortable telling them and talking about it.

katew66 · 06/02/2015 10:53

Thanks Batfish you are right- these are colleagues/friends - ideally i would like to avoid telling them for a few more weeks at least but if they quiz me i will prob break as Im a terrible fibber! Will try and avoid the subject- they dont drink so that wont be a giveaway lol
Skiing sounds fab- I have never been x caravan holidays for me this year so nothing to worry about there!

batfish · 06/02/2015 11:01

Oh if there won't be alcohol involved then much easier for you, just don't bring the topic up yourself and if they do then just try to say no nothing yet but hope you'll have some news soon, if you've been TTC and they've been asking up to this point hopefully if you say the same that you have been doing before now then they won't probe any further.

I am dreading trying to hide it as we socialise quite a lot and alcohol is always involved! Luckily as I have had to tell the friends we are on holiday with they can be my allies!

katew66 · 06/02/2015 11:05

Yes there will be strategy involved over the next few weeks lol! Hardest will be a trip to the inlaws in 2 weeks- my mum inlaw is lovely but gets very stressed and anxious and I could do with some peace over the next month! Hubby is a good ally so he will help! How are you feeling?

batfish · 06/02/2015 11:16

Feeling fine thanks, mega sore boobs which I've had for over 2 weeks now but no symptoms other than that - have been tired but usually am when skiing so can't tell if it's anything more than usual. Kind of want some more symptoms for reassurance but at the same time really don't want to feel like crap! One weird thing is that I seem to be getting static shocks everywhere but no idea if that's related or how it could be!

How are you feeling?

katew66 · 06/02/2015 11:23

ooo weird static pregnancy! ive heard of stranger things so maybe...
ive had naseau since yesterday -hungriness ha! and def more tired than normal and obviously brain melt as i CANNOt spell naesua? naseua? argghhhh

MrsEvansAlmost · 06/02/2015 12:04

batfish I get this!! getting out my car and I get them!! poor dog got a shock of me earlier!!

HettyB · 06/02/2015 12:37

I'm getting period-type cramps every day at the moment (5+0) - Is anyone else getting this?

It's making me worried that things aren't right... Sad

alexmash12 · 06/02/2015 12:38

Just found out I'm not being made redundant, I'm one of the lucky few! It's great news although when I tell them my news they ain't going to be pleased x

SarahSt28 · 06/02/2015 12:43

HettyB I keeping getting period type cramps too. I've had them on and off since I found out I was pregnant. I've done a lot of research about it as it's been worrying me and apparently is perfectly fine, just the womb growing and stretching. Only need to be worried if there is bleeding as well. I'm 5+2 so at the same stage as you. X

HettyB · 06/02/2015 13:50

That's great news, Alex - that must be such a relief for you.

SarahSt - thanks for reassuring me! I keep going to the loo to knicker check (can't see me stopping that before about 20 weeks!) but am trying to relax and take my lack of 'proper' symptoms as a good thing! I feel decidedly normal - I have period cramps and sore boobs, but I'd usually get that pre-period, and nothing else! I almost want to be sick as proof that I haven't dreamed the whole thing (I may regret saying that in a few weeks...). I keep getting my pregnancy tests out to check they really have two lines/say 'pregnant'!

katew66 · 06/02/2015 14:15

I also check my 2 lines hettyB- kept in a draw! And yes period type cramps- Im sure its normal but coz it feels like a period I am doing the knicker check too!! I like the term "bedding in pains"

Octobermummy2be · 06/02/2015 15:34

Hi everyone

I poas again this morning just to make sure! Got a strong dark line straight away :) :). We had an early loss in December and I'm just so scared of it happening again.

DS is napping, I should be cleaning but instead I'm sat with a cuppa watching don't tell the bride!

Cineraria · 06/02/2015 15:41

Nice to see so many new people this week. I've just updated the Stats Sheet and there are 52 of us now when we've only just reached half way through the October due dates! Congratulations to all the newcomers! do add any details/people I've missed.

I had a nasty scare this week although everything is ok now, I think. Just after throwing up on Tuesday, I felt dripping and realised I was losing red blood. I felt so scared and fainted as I was trying to clean up in the bathroom. DH put me to bed and called the NHS 111 number and the doctor agreed that it sounded like it was a miscarriage and that I should get back in touch with the early pregnancy unit when the bleeding stopped and be scanned to see if anything was left, especially as I'd had that problem before. The next day I lost a large clot and nothing more so called the EPU and they wanted to scan me the following afternoon. I went in expecting to be told I'd need surgery again to remove what was left but instead the scan showed the baby was still there and had a strong heartbeat! The bleed showed up as being right by the sac so we were very lucky indeed. After spending 48 hours thinking that we'd lost the baby, I'm feeling oddly like I have only just found out that I'm pregnant again.

Can't remember who it was saying they were 30G and worried how much bras cost but have you tried brastop.com. I picked up a couple of Curvy Kate 30GGs two weeks ago for about 12.50 each, so much cheaper than in most of the department stores. Last time I was pregnant I held out in my 30Gs (I'm 30F normally but had a couple of Gs for the week before my period) thinking I would get bigger ones at 12 weeks and I developed a cyst on one of my breasts a few months later. I can't be sure it's connected but am definitely not taking the risk this time, especially as I can't cope without my underwires!

BitchBags · 06/02/2015 15:50

Welcome to all the newbies :)
Sorry to hear about your scare cineraria but I'm so glad everything is ok.
I am really not feeling pregnant today. Apart from being in a daze I feel like I'm imagining it all.

AnnaBegins · 06/02/2015 15:51

Great news Alex!

Hetty I'm getting cramps too and have done all along, I am trying not to be too worried as it does seem to be normal.

Oh Cine so pleased to hear all was well!

We haven't told the friends we're on holiday with, tbh we're almost the first to be pregnant so no one else really knows the signs! I've not been feeling great and they've just completely accepted that's why I'm not drinking!

alexmash12 · 06/02/2015 16:56

Cinarera - Jesus that sounds terrifying. I'm so pleased everything is ok. I guess it goes to show that every passing week it just gets stronger.

I too have cramps and am just taking everything as a positive sign because it's beyond my control. I'm taking quite a fatalistic approach to this - surprising myself actually as it's my first - thought I be a bit more panicky.

batfish · 06/02/2015 17:11

cineraria I'm so glad all is OK, must have been such a relief for you.

hetty I get the odd pain that just lasts for a few seconds and feels like period pain and it worries me every time even though it has been happening for a week now! I also am constantly checking for bleeding when I go to the loo, sometimes I even go when I don't need it as need to know everything looks OK down there! Such a joy, not quite the blissful experience I expected finding out I am carrying my first child to be haha

goldielocks84 · 06/02/2015 17:53

Cineraria that sounds absolutely horrific- you poor thing! So glad to hear it's all ok. Rest lots!!

LakeOfDreams · 06/02/2015 18:19

Wow cineraria I'm glad to hear everything is OK sounds like you've had a big scare.

Amazing there are already 52 of us and still lots more to come I guess!!

sleepyMe12 · 06/02/2015 19:30

Can I join? Got my albeit faint line monday and have been testing daily since Blush due October 11th after a miscarriage in December I'm feeling very nervous xx

martinsgirl · 06/02/2015 19:59

Oh Cineraria that sounds awful, I'm really glad you and baby are okay!
Called midwifery unit today and have got my midwife appointment and my first scan booked in :) scan is on our wedding anniversary so will be extra special!

Glossyflower · 06/02/2015 20:00

Glad all is ok cineraria.
Welcome all newly pregnant ladies Grin

I'm mega bloated today. Very tired and DH been pissing me off sitting around watching netflix all day whilst I've repainted a kitchen wall, fixed DDs wardrobe and rearranged her bedroom furniture.
We've both had two weeks annual leave and I hate it when we are off together at home. I would rather take my holiday leave to stay on my own at home, he's not under my feet and I can do what I like. Xxx
