Hi ladies, can I join you please?

I'm 28 (will be 29 when baby arrives), I live in Wimbledon, and this will (hopefully) be baby #1. By my dates I think I'm due on about 9 October.

We weren't actively trying so it was a bit of a shock, but a nice one! I took a cheapy test on Tuesday just to tempt my period to arrive as that usually does the trick, and was pretty shocked when I saw two lines! Two days and another 3 tests later, I'm finally starting to believe that this might be real!

I've had no symptoms other than PMT type cramps which is worrying me a bit but I'm trying to reassure myself that it's normal.

Octobermummy2be · 05/02/2015 08:23

Hi everyone.

No symptoms here either apart from feeling tired. I put that down to my ds who previously used to sleep through the night starting to wake again!!

Booked in with m/w for the first Monday in march. She only works Monday. I didn't find her very helpful last time so not expecting much!

catlady87 · 05/02/2015 09:01

Hi new people :) welcome.

Today I'm 4+5 I feel like I already need to go up a bra size. I don't understand. I already suffer with being quite small, with big boobs (30G) and bras are so expensive. What am I going to do?! I'll be bankrupt. No other symptoms really apart from being wide awake in the middle of the night, and mild cramps.

Can anyone recommend any good pregnancy books for first timers?

Thanks, hope everyone is well today x

batfish · 05/02/2015 09:09

Ah catlady can't believe we are exactly the same!

In terms of books - my heavily pregnant friend has recommended 'expecting better' - I think it is by Emily somebody. Makes you feel like you can have the odd glass of wine without being deemed an evil mother to be apparently you! Not that I want to drink a sip at the moment, far too terrified!

batfish · 05/02/2015 09:14

'What to expect when you're expecting' is apparently very cutesy and cheesy but it's so well known I still feel like I should get it! Still feeling like buying books is too early as I'm so worried things won't work out but it might help with the positive thinking!

catlady87 · 05/02/2015 09:17

I know batfish, I'm in 2 minds whether to buy a book or not. Been looking at The Natural Pregnancy Book. Might hold off another couple of weeks though. Still doesn't feel real enough yet x

HettyB · 05/02/2015 09:36

I'm also debating whether to buy a book - I don't want to tempt fate but I guess whatever is going to happen will happen, buying a book isn't going to change whether the baby sticks or not.

I'm not buying anything else until 12 weeks though!

HerewardTheTired · 05/02/2015 09:42

I read Miriam Stoppard last time. Factual and to the point.

EssexWelsh · 05/02/2015 10:09

So I'm 5+5 today and still no symptoms at all! this is DD2 and I had terrible morning sickness from 4 weeks for DS1 so panicking something is wrong. convinced myself I'd had a mmc, so from what some have said on here aboiy tracking the first couple of weeks with clear blue to check HCG levels increasing I bought one, took the normal test and it instantly came up negative, totally freaked out then realised the control window was empty!! Waited 2 hours and took the digital and it came up pregnant, 3+ weeks (5 weeks total) phew! I was so freaked out by it all! Feel constantly anxious, may just pay for a private early scan to ease my nerves a bit! I found one for £60 so not too bad.

Anyone else thinking of getting an early private scan, it's only been 2 weeks since knowing, think I'll burst if I have to wait 6 weeks!

MrsEvansAlmost · 05/02/2015 10:23

I've beth n panicking all morning that I might be losing bean, me and dp DTD last night and it's wasn't particularly gentle! been more tender today no spotting but this is first bean that's stuck this far and am terrified!!/Sad Sad booking in appt is next Wednesday the midwife had good a list of questions (silly ones) to ask her!!/

TheGirlWhoPlayedWithFire · 05/02/2015 10:56

Welcome to all new BFP'ers. Flowers

I'm 5+6 roughly on dates and am definitely feeling rough. Is anyone else suffering with morning sickness yet? I've got sickness bands, am eating little and often and have been taking b6 vits to avoid sickness as I was very ill with my other two.

Am struggling at work at the moment (not helped by my sensitive nose and very unpleasant smelling boss) Envy - sick face

hideandsqueak · 05/02/2015 11:29

Hello! May I join please? Got BFP this morning so 4+1. Already have 15 month DS. Was TTC properly for 3 cycles. Due 14th October! Doesn't seem real. Have definite nausea which seems early but may be linked to me still breastfeeding DS. Apparantly it makes it worse.

Nervous83 · 05/02/2015 12:25

Hi All,

Sorry, haven't been on for a while as sorting out new house and we had DH's boys at the weekend so manic all round.
Sorry to hear about the departures and welcome to the newbies.

So I looked at my dates again and if I go from my last period I'm 6 weeks tomorrow. I have been to see the nurse at my new surgery (as was rudely kicked out of last one for moving house) and she was soooooo nice, very relieved. She's the first person that I've actually told (other than DH). She gave me the number for the midwife centre in the local area and I've called and got to pop in and fill in a form and then they contact me when they've assigned me a midwife. Has anyone else had this?

Starting to think about telling my mum... feel bad popping in to hers and she doesn't know.

Not really experiencing much in the way of symptoms other than being absolutely shattered and not being able to get words out properly - blaming this on the tiredness.

Still POAS though to make it feel real, glad I'm not the only one still doing this LOL Grin

Just been looking at pregnancy DVDs on Amazon as I'm a Jillian Michael's fan too - not sure what to go for...any recommendations?

Soooo happy it's Friday tomorrow...these weeks are getting longer and longer I swear!!

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 05/02/2015 12:31

Welcome Hetty and Hide!

Hetty: I used to live in Wimbledon. Loved it there!

Essex: I am paranoid after a mmc on my first pregnancy at 11.5 weeks. I have a scan at 6+6 and depending on that I might book another at about 9 weeks.

catlady87 · 05/02/2015 12:51

Oh ladies, I am struggling today. On an admin day at work which means far too much thinking time. Feeling awfully anxious and worried about little bean not sticking or something going wrong. Just want it to be 12 weeks now. Maybe I could relax a little. X

LakeOfDreams · 05/02/2015 13:09

I nearly had to tell someone at work yesterday as I felt really sick all morning. Really struggling to sleep and feeling crazy tired at the moment.

Anyone know or remember when they can find a HB on a scan? I think I had an early scan last time at 7+5 or 8+ can't remember and I'd be devastated if I went too early and they struggled to find one.

HettyB · 05/02/2015 13:10

Me too, I'm a natural worrier so every ache and twinge I worry could be it 'going away' (I'm scared of even using the M word!).

Roll on 12 weeks! I'm debating paying for an early private scan, but wonder if it would be worse to see everything fine at, say, 8 weeks then have horrible news at the 12 week scan...

AnnaBegins · 05/02/2015 15:33

Hi Kym, I'm fairly young too at 25 and we've been waiting for my mat package to kick in at 2 years too! DH earns more but we still need my wage.

Batfish I'm skiing at the mo! It is scaring me a little as I am bleeding a bit (was before skiing) so only done 3 mornings skiing so far with minimal falls, and I'm thinking of just buying a sledge and going sledging tomorrow rather than skiing! Whereabouts are you? We're in France, in savoy region.

batfish · 05/02/2015 16:42

anna we are also in France - Meribel! So probably pretty close! I've skiied a fair bit but also have been the first to sit out if anyone has fancied a hot chocolate break! I'm not a brilliant skier so haven't done anything crazy though. Last day tomorrow for us.

I appear to have booked a scan for next Wed! I called the docs wanting blood tests for confirmation (4 tests and 2+ weeks sore boobs doesn't seem to be real enough for me) and they said just go in next Wed and they will scan instead and see if they can see a sac. I live in a land where private healthcare reigns so they scan every 2 seconds to get money from the insurance companies. But I am worried as I think I will be 5 weeks 4 days then and not the 6 weeks that the nurse said so I'm worried there will be nothing to see and it will just give me a scare! Can't wait to get back from holiday and pee on another stick!!

hetty and catlady I am totally bricking it too so you're not alone - every tiny little stomach twinge and I get a sinking feeling but so far the worst that has happened is that I have needed a poo Grin Cannot wait to feel safer!

lake my pregnant friend was able to hear a heartbeat at 6 weeks 4 days with her baby, she had a history of recurrent miscarriages so scanned very early this time, her baby girl is due in 3 weeks!

Mumwannabe82 · 05/02/2015 16:42

welcome to our newcomers Grin Grin Grin xx
its weird to think that we go from worrying ourselves sick about getting pregnant now worrying ourselves sick till the 12 week safety net!!! I'm guessing it probably won't end there either so I'm glad I have you lovely lot to share it with Grin

Kym134 · 05/02/2015 16:46

Glad I am not the only one debating whether to have an early scan or not.

I am also looking for a good book as I want to know EVERYTHING which can be scary but helps me relax slightly that I feel slightly more in control.

AnnaBegins I am the bread winner and I am worried about taking more than my full paid weeks off (6 weeks + annual leave). We could survive without my DH's wage but not mine!

Can anyone recommend any early scan places?

Glossyflower · 05/02/2015 17:01

Kym your other half can take your parental leave. You are entitled to share it xxx

Kym134 · 05/02/2015 17:22

Yes that is the plan so he can take the remainder of the time off. He is actually really excited about that!

spudnik1 · 05/02/2015 17:45

Well i am 6+1 today and i am swinging madly between thinking there is no baby cause i haven't had morning sickness and thank god i haven't got morning sickness!

Constantly hungry and constipated not a good combination!

It's my booking in appointment next week (i'll be 7 weeks) and i am getting nervous about it already even though its nothing to be nervous about, anyone else stressing about it?

Kym134 I bought my husband the pregnancy guide for men and i enjoyed reading it as does he.

martinsgirl · 05/02/2015 18:48

Hey, can I join?
Think I'm 4weeks 5days but can't be 100% sure as I haven't had a period since September!
Saw my GP today, she just took my blood pressure and gave me the number of the maternity unit so need to try call them tomorrow (bit tricky as they are only open 9-5 when I'm at work. Can't exactly call from my desk as obviously none of my colleagues know and I work in a massive open-plan office with hardly any quiet spots lol).
Catlady, I'm 30G as well and having the same panic! How big are they going to get?? I lost weight a couple of years ago so I do have some bigger bras left over but I think I'm gonna need them pretty soon!
