6 weeks of normal work plus out of hours shifts, then another 2 weeks of annual leave where I will go in and do a couple of out of hours shifts. It sounds weird but basically I have to make sure I offer my time out of hours to make up a certain amount of working hours. I have a regular set of day duties but have the extra to do as and when it suits. Problem is due to illness it never suited. My contract will end 8-9 weeks after I return from maternity leave and by then I need to have given back those hours and right now I am miles away from achieving that. So I just have to get my head down and do them

Baby is having a party in my pelvis!

Thanks penguin Flowers

Glad all ok TheBooMonster!

Sorry you're having to do such long days and that you didn't get your cuddle daholster Sad

I was induced with ds1 and was similar, ended up walking the corridors so I didn't disturb anyone in the bay! Luckily with ds2 they'd changed the policy and I was induced in the antenatal clinic not the ward and then sent home for 6 hours, when I came back I went straight to delivery suite as I was 8cm and had him 2hrs later, much better Smile

I love Brace too, it is a bit dark though so can't watch it on a sunny day or you can't tell what's going on! Confused DD calls Merida, brave instead of Merida. She asks for her brave costume all the time! (If anyone is interested the one from asda comes with a little bow and arrow set. Much fun had by me and DH trying to hit targets when DD was in bed)

kismac · 30/01/2015 22:31

Good news Boo. Glad everything is ok.

I've been watching One Born Every Minute and Im really hoping Im not a screamer.

Ah, Daholster that sounds like a horrendous day. Fingers crossed time flies quickly and you can put your feet up and enjoy maternity leave.

daholster · 30/01/2015 22:52

Thanks, it wasn't great. But look what I have just found to cheer me up! Baby boy room wallpaper options! Grin

Dd's is the "What A Hoot" wallpaper... She LOVES it, nattering about the tweeting birds, and the owls... It was great for a unisex wallpaper. We also have a very dark gunmetal grey carpet in her room.

Don't know whether to go for less unisex for ds - I don't want to influence him into blue. And the blue ones (apart from the treasure island one) are quite sensible with perhaps not too much to stimulate his imagination? But they are lovely... The ideal nursery wallpaper for a grown up who wants to say "ah" and feel she has a lovely cute nursery... But I want him to enjoy his room as much as dd enjoys hers.

Any thoughts? It will be one wall and the rest of the room a single complimentary colour (dd has 2 walls done and the others plain cream - but it's a bigger room).

Hope they upload now!

They're lovely daholster, not sure which I'd choose (helpful). I know what you mean about choosing between adult friendly and child friendly papers. We've ended up going for this one which I think is a good compromise. Like you we're doing just one wall and leaving the rest neutral.

daholster I love the top left one personally, but perhaps the one next to it with the... is that red creature a squirrel?... is a bit easier to match other things with without it being a sea of blue...

PiL are going to come over and be in charge of DD for a bit tomorrow, 's times like this that I love them a lot!

daholster · 31/01/2015 07:10

So, up at 06.30 with dd. Dh is still in bed after getting in after 0100. I tried waiting up, cos I thought he would be back in time for late bed time together, silly me, gave up at 00.30 and went to bed. So now I'm still tired.

I'm letting him stay in bed but I'd better get waited in tomorrow morning with tea in bed!!! I'm not sure he has clocked just how little sleep I have had for the last few days (though he is similar because we never sleep properly when waiting for the other to come home. But going to the pub is definitely not like being at work til midnight!!!

Still, dd told me this morning she was happy with a smile on her face (despite being a snotty coughing mess)... And when I said good she said "Kaitkin very happy!" Which made me very happy too! Now we are drinking chocolate milkshake milk for breakfast Grin Daddy is missing out!

banana I love that your wallpaper has ostriches on it!!! Grin

kismac · 31/01/2015 07:49

Oh I like the elephants. I was just going to get stickers. The cot covers have blue trucks and cars (that's unisex right? Oops) but now thinking could I persuade DH to wallpaper one wall. Hmmm.

Aww, Daholster. Im glad your little one is in a good mood and you are getting some quality time together.

I got a really mushy text message from my dad last night say how excited he is to meet the baby. Made me feel a bit bad as I've been such a misery chops about the pregnancy. I must start being more positive. Only 11 more weeks to go. I can do it. We all can do it. Woo! Ha ha.

PenguinPoser · 31/01/2015 07:59

Love the wallpapers! I like the owl one - we have done the nursery with owl paper on one wall - it's a b&q one so just slightly different to that one. I like feature walls so the other walls are plain with an owl border around. Love yours too Banana!
Hope you have a much calmer and nicer day today Daholster!

Aww kismac that's so sweet of your dad! DH was saying last night how he loves bump and is excited for it becoming a baby Grin

Feeling sore this morning... Hips lower back and front of pelvis - jut got up to go to the loo and had to hobble there Hmm hope it settles down as we have plans to be out all day even though I just want to stay in the warm and watch tv but it's DHs friends birthday celebrations so feel like I have to go

31+1 today!

Lauren82000 · 31/01/2015 08:19

I think DH has finally started to get over his anxiety that something will go wrong with this one, he has started patting my bump and asking how the baby is more often now. I'm taking it as a good sign. Shame he still expects me to be able to do everything I normally do when I'm actually starting to slow down a bit. Hmmoh well he'll get the message eventually.

Least I think I've talked him out of going for a walk this weekend. Far too windy and cold. He wanted to go walking in the lakes! Think it put him off as he tried walking home with DD last night but he only had a thin jacket on. So I had to come get them half way home. DD was fine all bundled up. Smile sometimes he just gets these ideas in his head and it's my job to get them out again.Wink

FiRaffe · 31/01/2015 08:19

Aww I love all the nursery wall paper. We've got a small place we'll hopefully be selling whilst little one is still little so we've gone for grown up wallpaper, but as DH said we can turn it isn't a jungle with some removable wall stickers, which makes me feel a bit happier about it.

Boo, I've just been on reading your blog and I noticed that you used the Medela Mini breast pump first time round. That's the one I was thinking of getting. Would you recommend it? Im not wanting to spend a lot just in case things don't pan out how I hoped.

Hidingthefear · 31/01/2015 09:12

Bit behind but I would defo stretch to a private room if available banana. I'll ask the midwife next time smogs
I'm having mine at the birthing centre sairie which is right next to the hospital. Not sure on the sleeping arrangements. Haven't had a tour or anything. Although I don't really want to tour the hospital because I'll just end up a quivering mess
will catch up reading soon x

TheBooMonster · 31/01/2015 09:12

kis I found the mini to be quite wimpy in comparison to the hospital pump. It's alright if you're only planning to use it occasionally but I wouldn't rely on it exclusively, even with two night sessions my supply dwindled and noticeably decreased, within two months I wasn't producing much of anything. Most companies can ship you a pump next day though, so if you're not sure you're going to need it it might be worth waiting and then getting something if you do encounter problems.

AnniaFausta · 31/01/2015 09:28

Glad everything was OK, Boo. Also glad you're making up time with DD, daholster!

On way to an all-day event/sandpit thingummie for work. It was not particularly easy to get out of bed this morning...

TheBooMonster · 31/01/2015 10:03

Thank you all for the well wishes by the way ladies! Things seem to have picked up a bit today.

giggles at 30 weeks baby weighs about the same as 2 pints of milk and a packet of digestive biscuits according to the BabyBuddy app!

FiRaffe · 31/01/2015 10:12

Glad things are feeling better Boo.

I love all the comparisons - you have to laugh when one week your baby is the size of a mango, then a pea pod, then a pineapple and finally a banana..... I can't remember which site but I do remember laughing each week at which fruit or veg baby was!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 31/01/2015 10:44

wow I missed a lot last night! Boo, glad everything's ok. daholster, I'd have been disappointed too, hope you get loads of extra cuddles in.

going today to look at car seats and a few girl clothes (NOT pink, I can't stand it! and we have more than enough pink already from friends etc.) Thought we'd better do it before my bump ache gets any worse, because it's not going to get any better until well after baby arrives (caesarian recovery takes aaaaaaaaaaages)

besides, we'll need it within 8 weeks most likely - scary!
I'm struggling to imagine coping with 3 kids now.. bit late, really!

at about this stage of pregnancy last time I wandered past the room my ex was in (we were still together at the time) half naked to get my top from the tumble dryer... "bloody hell, you really are pregnant, aren't you?!?!?!"
can't imagine what he thought all those appointments for consultants and midwife and scans were for LOL

LadyNovember · 31/01/2015 13:55

Jeepers, 34 pages of a new thread..might as well face the fact I'm never gonna catch up..! Hope I haven't missed too much!

Hope everyone is doing well, seems like a lot of you are having lots of aches and pains - hope they're not too bad. I'm feeling pretty good, physically, right now.

We've had a lot going on, hence my lack of logging on. I think I mentioned DPs dad getting diagnosed with terminal Cancer before Christmas, well he's been ill in hospital and then been having chemo recently, so we've decided to get married on March 6th! It's a very low key, close family thing but I'm looking forward to becoming a Mrs! I'll be 33 weeks! Also, DPs sister has brought her wedding forward to May 24th, which I'm bridesmaid at, so that's going to be interesting! Will be 2-4 weeks postpartum and have a very small baby to look after. Heck. Finally, last but certainly not least, DPs grandfather passed away on Monday night, we were all around him and it was peaceful, but still a rather haunting experience. Granddad was DPs dad's dad..the one that's dying of cancer. What a rough time for DPs family. :(

I don't know how I'm functioning with all this happening and working full time, but you just do, don'tcha! Smile

LadyNov, I'm sorry for your loss. Sounds like you're doing a sterling job at supporting your DP at such a testing time, and pregnant too. That's really lovely news about your wedding too - many many congratulations!

Lauren82000 · 31/01/2015 14:45

Wow lots going on with you Lady. Sorry to hear your news, but yay for joining the Mrs clubSmile

DH dragged me for a walk on the park where we all froze and I had BH all the way round. Confused Baby had been a little quiet this morning but just as I've sat down its party time so that's good.

Can I ask you ladies that have had the whooping cough jab how long your arm hurt for? Mine is still really tender 4days later.
