Ah LadyNovember what a lot for you to deal with. Good news about your wedding - congratulations! But not good about the circumstances for your DPs family, just horrible and so much happening at once.

Lauren sorry my arm wasn't sore at all after whooping cough jab! I was really surprised as after the flu one I couldn't lie on it for 2 days. It probably depends exactly where it's been injected and how long it takes the muscle to recover. Hope it's less sore soon!

TheBooMonster · 31/01/2015 16:07

lady sorry to hear about everything you've got on your plate at the moment, hope DP's dad responds well to the chemo!

lol ewby I think the men folk take a while to cotton on to the whole baby thing sometimes... DH is still mostly in denial that we only have 10 weeks to go

Really sorry to hear about everything going on Lady, it must be such a hard time for the family. Lovely news about your wedding though - congratulations! Flowers

Lauren I had my whooping cough jab on Thursday morning and it's still really sore today, was hoping it would be normal again by now! Think it might be because the jab includes tetanus which always really aches.

smogsville · 31/01/2015 16:54

In a bit of a humph at hospital as they have 'run out' of whooping cough vaccine! Totally not a big deal, am going to have it done at 34 weeks. Measuring bang on for 28 weeks and heartbeat fine etc.

Lauren82000 · 31/01/2015 17:38

It had tetanus in it? They never told me that! Just sign on the dotted line. Shock Roll up your sleeve.

LadyNovember · 31/01/2015 18:10

Thanks everyone!

I have my whooping cough vaccine on Tuesday Lauren so I'll have to get back to you ha.

Smog, I wasnt given the option to have it with mw, just got told "ask your GP" maybe you could get yours done there if you want to get it done sooner.

BananaToast · 31/01/2015 18:12

Yep think it's whooping couch, tetanus, diphtheria and polio. I only realised when I read about it the day before mine but the nurse did tell me on the day.

BananaToast · 31/01/2015 18:12

Cough obviously, not couch.

smogsville · 31/01/2015 18:23

LadyNov - round our way (n London) it's the other way round. GP receptionist gave me my marching orders when I had the temerity to ask about it a few wks ago!

That glucose test is vile isn't it. Yuck. Seems to be standard issue round here.

Lauren82000 · 31/01/2015 18:27

Now I think about it she did rattle off a load of things. 'Are you allergic too/had a reaction' perhaps it was mentioned in her rapid fire speel? If it was I didn't actually hear that bit Blush just know the answer is no. Never had a reaction or allergy to anything but plasters and that's only certain plasters if I leave them on too long. (They kind of leave red welts on me that last longer than the cut they were intended for)

cinnamongreyhound · 31/01/2015 19:16

daholster my favourites are the bottom left and middle. DH won't have wall paper :(

Dh asked every week FiRaffe and then he'd say 'how's little aubergine today' Grin

That's something my Dh would say EbwyIsUpTheDuff, he still says things like 'thank goodness we're not havig anymore' when ds2 is being a nightmare and then looks at my belly and covers his face!

Oh that's lovely about your wedding and so sad about your dp's grandad but at least it was peaceful and he wasn't alone LadyNovember. Will be lovely for dp's dad to see both the weddings too and a grandchild!

Mine was 3-4 days Lauren82000 but the nurse didn't do a great job! AntiD hurt more to have it done but felt better in less than a day. Yes it's the one they give to babies I gathered with tetanus, polio and diphtheria.

Had the best nights sleep last night and felt totally rejuvinated but I'm knackered again now! Ran parkrun this morning in a really good time (for me when pregnant) and then went to the cinema with a grumpy Dh because I made us late Angry but film was good and then homework time which is always hideous, a pleasant but rainy dog walk and ready meals for tea, watching the voice now Smile

Oh dear, Lady such a tough time for you and your family but congratulations on your upcoming wedding that's lovely news.

Sorry Lauren, I had my jab on Thursday and my arm feels fine.

Met a friend for lunch today who is also pregnant and we had a good moan. Feel so much better for it. Popped into mother care too and stocked up on muslins, got a snow suit (it has been known to snow in Scotland in April), 4 pairs of leggings and a sleeping bag. Think that's me now done. We do not need anything else. Repeat, we do not need anything else. He he.

RumNoRaisins · 31/01/2015 20:23

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding lady. Sorry to hear about the tough time your family is going through.

Had my whooping cough jab a week ago and it hurt for about 48 hours, mostly at night if I was lying on it.

Just done our end of month finances today and that's sobered me up enough to stop buying stuff for the baby for a while. Instead I dug out all the 0-3 month baby stuff and washed them all so I can take stock of what we already have. Will probably need to pick a pram suit up as DS1 was a summer baby but hopefully we can buy it discounted at the end of winter.

My close caboo off ebay arrived today and made DH try it on with a stuffed Roo pretending to be baby. Looked easy enough to put on so looking forward to using it.

Wineandchoccy · 31/01/2015 20:52

I'm sorry to hear about the tough time you are having Lady but congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

DH is out tonight so I'm catching up on old episodes of one born every minute that I have recorded and washing some baby blankets, rock and roll Saturday night for me!

TheBooMonster · 31/01/2015 21:00

rum name change or did I somehow miss you joining us or have you been here all along? I tend to retreat to my happy place whenever DH talks about the finances, in my defence there is an account that he's meant to put a weekly allowance in so I can leave the joint account card at home because I'm awful with money but he never does it, so I have no choice but to use the joint account, and then I have no control and I buy all the things

The close caboo looks nice... is there a thing as too many baby carriers?... we tried out the Papoozle when it came through, DD got more on time out if it than I did, my bump rather got in the way. DH seems fairly happy to use the Moby wrap though so I enthusiastically handed it over whilst giggling mainly because I at least remember how fiddly it is....

Boo I have been given the green light to buy the Manduca so I'm pretty happy I've gotten my way. Smile Don't think there is any such thing as too many slings. I'd liken it to shoes, a pair for every occasion. Grin

I'm the chief finance person in our house. DH hates looking at how much he has in the bank. Goes back to when he was a student and always overdrawn. I badger him to check once a month just so he can move his excess into the savings account. He likes a little dabble on the footie too. Only ever tiny bets with huge odds (£2 bet ends up with £180) which comes in handy the once in a while it happens. Smile Many more wins than the lottery I do at work anyway.

BonjourMinou · 01/02/2015 07:29

Morning all. Wow, this thread moves fast!
Congratulations on the impending wedding, Lady - sorry to hear about the sad circumstances with your husband's family though.

I didn't realise whooping cough contained anything other than whooping cough - all the nurse said to me was how far along are you? (I was 27+5) she said we'll call it 28 as you're all but and we're not supposed to do whooping cough until then. Then she jabbed away. I had the flu jab at the same time, I had a sore arm for a couple of days afterwards, especially when I was lying on it, it went all puffed up and red, but I couldn't say which jab caused it. I have since developed a bit of a cough/cold, not sure if it's from the flu jab, but it hasn't developed into a full blown one.

Had horrendously itchy tummy and legs yesterday, was driving me nuts! I fear the return of my stretchmarks...

RumNoRaisins · 01/02/2015 08:13

Boo I was on the first couple of threads then dropped off and rejoined on the 8th thread. I had a few problems at the beginning of the pregnancy and sort of retreated into myself. It was only after the third trimester started that I dared to start making plans for the baby and start discussing the pregnancy with others again.

I want to take a full year off so we are being careful with money. DH isn't much of a spender but but I do the finances as I'm the one who squirrels money into savings despite my love for online shopping

FiRaffe · 01/02/2015 08:38

Sorry and congratulations Lady - hope the family can at least enjoy the rest of the time you have together.

The whooping cough vaccine has never been stabilised to be given on its own I belive. The jab has been some variant of the same 4-1 for a long time. It's the only way we can have it unfortunately.

Off to our first NCT class today - scared as anything but hopefully there will be some nice people there. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

PenguinPoser · 01/02/2015 09:20

Hope the nct class goes well FiRaffe. I'm a bit worried as I haven't booked on any... Don't know if it's too late now was going to go for the NHS ones but didn't want to miss more work - which I know is ridiculous I just get a guilt complex about it, and also DH wouldn't be able to come with me if in work time...

Felt awful yesterday. Woke with achey hips and pelvis, had a really busy day lots of walking and driving. Last night went out for meal with friends, I was uncomfortable sitting, standing, walking... And also feel like food is now just 'sitting' in my stomach and lost my appetite a bit leading to feeling sickly. Baby kept sticking bits of itself out which was uncomfortable as well! I wonder if it has shifted position?! Finally had to give in and take some paracetamol last night, still achey this morning but maybe not as bad. Think I need to take it easy today.

Ok end of moan!
Does anyone have a bump support band thing? Wondering if it's worth buying?

brummagem · 01/02/2015 09:52

Oh wow Lady sorry to hear about the loss and cancer but yay for the wedding I hope you have a lovely day. Enjoy every second!

Yay Penguin I thought I was the only one that's forgotten to book antenatal classes Blush been so busy at work and so sleepy at home its completely slipped my mind. I did fancy the NCT ones but for £300 they can do one! Heard they're good though. I'm quite taciturn and rather autistic with friendships and relationships though I'm generally the one sat on my own when everyone else is deep in conversation with the person next to them. Maybe I need to avoid gatherings with odd numbers lol.

Has anyone else felt their baby above their belly button? Mine still feels like he's rummaging about fairly low he was booting below my hips all yesterday. Is it because he still has a fair amount of space to swim about in? I'm such a noob!

I've got my 28 week appt this week and must remember to ask for this bloody mat1b form. My memory really is a sieve!

I take my hat off to anyone who's on baby number 2 or above you're made of serious stuff! Recently I'm so exhausted I constantly have to fight to get out of bed. I'd ring in sick for a couple of days to recuperate but the carnage when I get back into class is not worth the time off. 2 weeks until half term then I can audition for the part of Rip van Winkle!

Hope you're all doing well. Can't wait to hit the 30 weeks it's all so close then!

Lady - busy times and sorry to hear about DP's family troubles. Congratulations on your wedding though.

Re NCT etc, if you didn't book/ don't want to, you may find an antenatal exercise class (Aqua natal, pregnancy yoga etc) is another good way of meeting mums to be. I teach pregnancy yoga and there's tea and biscuits after the class for everyone to chat / get to know each other a bit. Once people go on maternity leave they often meet up outside class too.

I hadn't realised the whooping cough was a one of four thingy. Feeling a bit embarrassed as I've had it twice now without realising. OOPS!

brummagem · 01/02/2015 10:42

Acid indigestion is the absolute pits. Has anyone tried the 12 hour single tablet versions of gaviscon and/or zantac? Does it really work or are we best just chewing on those board chalk type tablets like our lives depend on it?
