Just done the quiz, great idea.

I had ds1's parents evening tonight and am proud to say he is doing great, top group etc. Was told he is a very quiet boy so maybe they gave me the wrong report, he is def not quiet at home While i was in with the teacher both ds's were playing in the school hall and i had trouble getting ds2 to come home. He wanted to stay there. The Head Teacher who was supervising said i have two very polite boys and they are lovely, my head swelled with pride. Obviously they may be little monsters at home sometimes but at least they perform well in public.

I have never thought of having a manicure/pedicure in preperation for labour but maybe i will this time. Does anyone know the secret of looking good in those first photos after giving birth. Ive seen some people and they look amazing, i always look a total mess.

Thanks weeonion, you may be laughing but i bet you give it a go now. Its contagious. I mentioned it to my neighbour who isnt even pg and she has tried it. Its the new craze, forget weightwatchers, if you really want to now how much weight you are losing/putting on try 'Toilet Roll Tuesday' you can do it in the comfort of your own home

weeonion · 17/10/2006 20:36

pebblemum - u know me too well.
done it - 8sheets @ 14 weeks - EDD 18th april!
i'm off to spread the trend!!!

pebblemum · 17/10/2006 20:40

Thats not fair, im only 9weeks but measure 9 sheets already.

weeonion · 17/10/2006 20:44

ok - i might have been sucking the bump in a bit for that

MKG · 17/10/2006 21:11

pebble--if you want to look good just make sure your makeup bag is close by. My sister is such a weirdo she went to her C-section with her makeup all done. She said that she wanted the pictures of her on the table to be beautiful. I reminded her that she had major surgery, but she said that it just made her feel better. I guess since having a baby is the most unsexy thing, you gotta do whatever to maintain that "sexy mamma" feeling

largegingerpsychoandtonic · 17/10/2006 21:25

Good evening all, finally managed to get back to the pc. Very hectic evening as i knew it would be, twins in bed still hyper talking to crap father who didnt even send them a b day card! Dont know why im surprised any more. Just spoke to Dh but cant say anything about the brown stuff as i dont want to scare him and he is too far away to do anything except feel bad.

It has stopped so i hope that its gone for good. Im going to phone the midwife tomorrow and ask if i can pop in so she can listen with the doppler just to ease my stressed mind before i do the mammoth trip to plymouth. I just cant believe after 5 children i still get flumoxed like this, friends just say but you were a midwife?! It doesnt mean much when you are going through it though.

Jessinwa the questionare sounds great am doing it in a mo! Twelveyeargap i too measured around biggest belly bit, if i measure at waist im only 2 sheets...

It is so comforting knowing you are all here i dont know if i would be coping quite so well with Dh away without you lot

largegingerpsychoandtonic · 17/10/2006 21:30

Forgot to say jessinwa i was prg again by the twins 1st birthday but it made no difference to my scar. It healed well after the section apart from those numb patches you get around it and it was not aggravated by a quick subsequent prg.

SKYTVMOSTHAUNTEDADDICT · 18/10/2006 09:37

Morning all

Just done the quiz - Great idea Jessinwa - a little light relief from washing and ironing!

Nothing much to report. Going out for lunch with friends today so better get on with the washing and ironing or it won't get done!

moomimin · 18/10/2006 09:59

Morning everyone. I love wednesdays, no school in France on a wednesday so we all get a lie in. Ds od DD didn't wake till 10.10am, so apart from stirring when dh went off to work at 7.30 we are all very well rested today and feeling good. MS seems to have gone, thank god, it's day 2 with out feeling bad so far.

Hope you are all feeling good. lg&t glad your feeling better and the brown stuff has stopped.

scootermum · 18/10/2006 10:14

Hi all,
Hope everyones well..
Have got my first pg cold. With dd I had a cold practicaly throughout, so here we go again..Is there any medical evidence for pg women getting more colds, or is it just me and my lousy immune system?Probably doent help that I work with the elderly though. They get everyhting going and give it me.
You do get offered quite a few Werthers originals though so that tends to pep you up.
Have elected not to say anything to my SIL about being pg at least until my scan, whenever it may be.Largely becuase I think she will react badly and as im still an emotional wreck I just cant face it..
largegandt-I have had quite a bit of bleeding since car accident no 1 but the dr said it was probably quite ok as did the EPU.(That said my GP is, as you may remember, an idiot)So try not to worry too much eh?Did you see the midwife?

I havent even got a midwife and Im 9 weeks today.Am I really pg?The toilet roll would say I am.8.5 sheets.I never got chance to lose the weight from dd, thats why.Grrr.I will never see size 10 again thats for sure!

twelveyeargap · 18/10/2006 11:39

Hello All. I did the quiz. I like those things. Looks like we might have somewhere to LIVE for Christmas! Yipppee! Going to see a flat tomorrow for a short let to do us between moving out of our current flat and our new house being ready. Actually, by the look of things, I don't think I'll want to leave. It's a flat in a converted manor house, surrounded by parkland. There's an Esporta gym, a courtesy bus to the nearest Tube station...

tries not to get hopes up

Hehehe. I know! It's much cheaper than what we're paying at the moment too, (presumably because it's that much further from central London), so we get to save some money. There has to be a catch... looks round furtively

Mince pies all round if we get it. I was wondering how to explain to the in-laws that they couldn't come for Christmas because we were living in a B&B.

Creena · 18/10/2006 14:44

Hey, 12YG - that sounds excellent! I think I'd be tempted to stay there too!

twelveyeargap · 18/10/2006 14:49

Tch. Gone! Current tenants decided to renew. That didn't last long did it? Booo. Thinking of plan B though I should probably rename it Plan B&B.

scootermum · 18/10/2006 15:19

Was it in Southgate at all?Or somewhere in that direction? As im sure I used to drive past one like that when I lived in that neck of the woods.
I suppose you only need it for a month or so eh?Tricky.
It would be grim but sometomes universitys rent out halls and things in the holidays-mine used to anyway and they are quite cheap, (and they do clean them first!).Students usually get a month or so off at Christmas dont they? so the timing might be ok, even if the accomodation is a bit basic?
Just a thought anyway.I would willingly have you to stay at ours but we only live in a two up two down!

twelveyeargap · 18/10/2006 15:44

Very kind thoght though Scootermum! It was that one. Near new southgate train station I think, in Friern Barnet. Princess Manor Park. Oh well... Got an appt to see another place in Highgate tomorrow night.

Ideally we'd like it mid Nov to mid Jan but the owners all seem to want us to go like, NOW. I'm too nervous to wait til nearer the time to sort something out, so we'll prob move in a couple of weeks and stay til mid or end Jan, depending on whether they have a minimum tenancy.

Gosh, that was a long answer. It's just a massive pain. It means we have to move twice, but I think that's preferable to tenaciously hanging on to our flat til we're practically turfed out and then living in a B&B during Dec and over Christmas and moving on Dec 30th... Ugh.

jessinwa · 18/10/2006 16:41

hey tyg, you are welcome to stay here. i think it would be quite a long commute to work though.
btw, when i answered "never" to the question "do you use sarcasm a lot?" i was being sarcastic. i don't want you all to think i am some lame, boring person. i am really enjoying reading all of your answers. we are an interesting lot. plenty of variety in here! seems a lot of you enjoy banoffee pie. it is a miracle. one of my very best friends just moved back to london from here but before he left he was sure to make me banoffee pie. holy cow, is that good! i don't like sweet stuff normally, but i could sit down and eat a whole banoffee pie. mmm...
have any of you continued to drink coffee? i have, although it is 2/3 decaf, 1/3 regular and i only have one or two cups a day. i eat pasteurized brie, lunchmeat, shellfish, peanuts, etc. i feel guilty, but happy at the same time. i know we talked about all of this a while ago, but i forgot to chime in then.
my ds has been going through some changes. he is really starting to put things together and it seems that he is starting to understand me a lot more. he "plays" by himself, points to his belly when i ask him where his belly is and claps on command. perhaps he should have been doing these things ages ago or maybe he is right on track. i don't know, nor do i care. it makes me happy and proud. his cuteness breaks my heart. poor dh is missing out. since he left munch (ds) has started the clapping thing and the belly pointing. i hope he doesn't take his first steps! at this rate it is a real possibility.
i get to hear the new one's heartbeat today. i have my monthly doctor's appointment this afternoon. hearing the heartbeat is such a treat and totally necessary in these first few months before he/she starts to move around. it reinforces that there really is something in there.
my ms seems to be on it's way out again, although i have said that before and been wrong.
believe it or not, i originally wrote way more than this but i erased half of it. i don't know why i think this is my own personal journal space. also, i am addicted to emoticons and i find myself wanting to throw one in after every sentence.

mummymelling · 18/10/2006 16:43

HELLO LADIES,been a while as DH broke my internet[dont ask]. Im 9.6wks and 9.5 sheets pmsl, really missed you guys and the chat, sorry to hear about your worries G&T,still trying to catch up on all the gossip xxx

moomimin · 18/10/2006 17:50

welcome back mummymelling. love the name by the way. My sis is mel and my friends little girl calls her mellymummy. Actually, it's not you is it sis trying to trick me. lol

jessinwa, I eat everything. there are no rules in France except washing fresh produce well, i was a sacred label checker with ds in the uk but with dd in France I stuck to their ways and there is certainly nothing wrong with her. However we do get tested every month for toxoplasmosis here.

I have said it before so sorry if others have read it already. My rule is: If I eat it in moderation and know that the produce is fresh and from a reputable supplier it should be fine.

moomimin · 18/10/2006 17:52

tyg: sorry forgot to say hope you find some where soon.
