The other thread was rather unwieldy!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
largegingerpsychoandtonic · 17/10/2006 11:44

Thanx twelveyeargap, i just did that search. It does seem to suggest old blood. I guess it could be the placenta starting to work too, that happens at around 12 weeks. Its just ive never had it before, wish i had a crystal ball.

Feel bad as have been rushing round all morning and now have to pick up ds 3 from school then straight on to a play date. Its the twins b day today so chaos after school and tom i drive to plymouth (4 hours in the car) after the school run. Im going to go in to panic mode i think, whatever that is

lg&t, please try to stay calm,

If you are worried then call your GP. I think I would.

big .

Creena · 17/10/2006 11:58

Hey, LG&T - if it helps, I am experiencing the same thing. I mentioned it to my GP last week. He said that (and I'm sorry if this is TMI, which I think it probably is) it is likely to be old blood because a) there are only small amount in my CM b) it seems to happen mostly when I have a bowel movement - I'm a little constipated c) it tends to be dark red/brown in colour and d) I haven't been having any abdominal pain apart from the cramping sensation you get in early pregnancy (implantation or ligaments/uterus strecthing).

I had a bit more this morning when I went to the loo first thing and it freaked me out a little. Then I realised that I'd had a stubborn poo the night before!

It sounds as though you're not in pain or bleeding heavily so I think you're ok but, if you would find it reassuring, you can always see your GP or phone your midwife to ask about it. I'm sure you'll be ok but have a virtual hug from me anyway!

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 17/10/2006 12:01

LG&T- like others have said don't worry. Brown blood is old blood and usually of no concern. Apparently most women have old blood inside them all the time (eugh I know), but it takes pg etc to force it out. Hope you're ok, ring your doc if you're worried.

Anyway, now you're all totally repulsed...

I am 6.5 sheets at 9+5wks. And I probably have a trail of loo paper in the back of my skirt like a tail.

Creena · 17/10/2006 12:11

Lol at Show Of Hands - my loo roll kept breaking into pieces when I tried to wind it around myself. Next person to use the loo will be wondering why there are pieces of loo roll everywhere......

And the toilet paper count is 7pcs at 8 weeks. But thats waist and not tummy - am I doing it right??

aprilmeadow · 17/10/2006 13:20

just measured myself and am 71/2 sheets at 11+5weeks.

JonahB · 17/10/2006 13:51

Juicy, i know i'm a bit of a dwarf, but isn't your tummy the same as your waist?
LOL at the breaking toilet roll. I had to try about 3 times before i could get a piece that didn't break when I breathed out.
Is anyone else suffering from constant indigestion yet? I'm guzzling Rennie like they're going out of fashion!

twelveyeargap · 17/10/2006 14:34

I measured around the biggest bit of my belly - slightly lower than my actual waist... hopes this is why there were so many sheets required

7 pieces work-sized bog roll here too at 8 weeks, that was a lunchtime measurement. Probably larger now since I've eaten too many pringles, courtesy of my co-worker, but have avoided her gigantic bar of mint areo...

Finally made my scan and midwife appointments, 4 weeks today for the nuchal. Midwifes now have an optional "early pregnancy" session where they hand out leaflets and info, supposedly shortens the booking appt. Wondering if it is really worth the effort of going though. What's it going to be about? Perhaps stuff about food, and the various scans and tests. See how I feel next week I guess!

jessinwa · 17/10/2006 17:12

hi all. i have been trying to keep up but it is difficult. by the time i wake up at seven it is already midafternoon for you and you have had all day to chat and chat and chat and chat.
it is no surprise to me that i have the distinction of being the largest around. 10 sheets, thank you very much! this isn't the first time i have been the chubbiest gal in the group. i suspect that my bog roll length will decrease before it increases. when i was pregnant with ds i lost 12 lbs in the first four months and then put on about 12 from there. six weeks after the birth i weighed 20 lbs less than i did before i got pregnant. i hope that is what happens again this time.
LGP&T, how long did you wait after your first was born to get pregnant with your second? i have read that the recommendation after you have a section is to wait at least two years if you want to try vbac. we didn't even wait a full year to get preg again. that kind of scares me. i am so happy for you that you get to give your dh a big hug (and maybe more ) on thursday. i hadn't put it all together until just now that you have a huge family and a dh away. and you are not insane. how do you do it? i almost go crazy with just ds when dh is away. you are my new hero!
tyakit, i will be interested to hear how your discussion regarding vbac with the midwife goes.
mkg, i certainly hope it gets easier for me too! as much as i would like to go the natural way it would be nice to have a pedicure the day before the birth.

MKG · 17/10/2006 17:24

Jessinwa- Oh definitely go for the pedicure. I went for one at 36 weeks because for me a pedicure stays nice for about a month. I figured that was perfect timing. It was nice that nurses commented on my pretty toes as she was helping to clean up the afterbirth.
I think that we pregnant women have to make ourselves seem as together as possible. A month before the birth I made sure I was waxed, shaved, painted, and ready to go. My aunt was actually in labor with her twins and she insisted on shaving her legs before she went to the hospital.

I have my first appointment tomorrow, and I am very excited because dh is coming with me (he never went to an appointment with ds, except for the one where we found out the sex) I think he still doesn't believe that this one is real. With ds he was so in love with the idea of having a child he didn't care about anything. Now he's having trouble believing that we are going to have another.

jessinwa · 17/10/2006 17:38

my dh sent me in for a pregnancy massage at a posh spa at 36 weeks. he is a good man. it was great. the woman who did the massage was obsessed, in a good way, with pregnancy and childbirth. she thought i was a goddess and treated me so well. i hope to do something similar after we make our big move to australia.
would anyone be interested in doing one of those questionaire type things? you know, the ones with questions like "what is your favorite color" and "when was your first kiss"? i was thinking of starting one in a new thread but i don't want to if you think it is too personal. let me know what you think.

moomimin · 17/10/2006 17:48

I'm usually up for anything like that. It doesn't have to be personal, if it's just questions like, Brad Pitt or David Beckham?, Chinese or Indian? It's not much different to our Marmite versus peanutbutter debate a few days ago and that was great fun.

Go for it jessinwa I'll certainly fill it out. In any case if anyone feels that a question is too personal then surely they can leave it blank?

MKG · 17/10/2006 17:59

You know I'm in.

jessinwa · 17/10/2006 18:12

here is a link to the may 2007 questionnaire. should be fun!

moomimin · 17/10/2006 19:07

Thanks jessinwa, your quiz is great and takes any troubles off your mind for a mo.

lg&t: hope you are ok,

aprilmeadow · 17/10/2006 19:11

jess what a great idea!!

Have to say that us May girlies are doing quite well at racking up the most threads!!

Have to keep dipping into the thread at work as i only get a few mins here and there.

I am really enjoying all this chatting. When i was on the April '05 thread it was very hard to join in the conversations.

InTheseShoes · 17/10/2006 19:48

Just been lol-ing at the toilet roll - anyway, had to of course participate, and went up to the bathroom where dh was bathing ds and I am 9 sheets at 9 weeks. Am a size 18 though, so not too bad, also around the bigger part of tummy ie, below the waist rather than on the waist. DH of course, wanted to know what on earth I was doing and once he had got over his disbelief that a load of women from t'internet had egged me on to do it, offered that it is "not scientific" and that loo paper is not of conforming measurement. He also helpfully and supportively advised me that our particular brand measured "small".

Went for a ten minute lie down last night after I'd put ds to bed at 7.15, and woke up at 4.30 this morning! Dh had come in and found me sparko, and not realised that I was still wearing my stiletto boots, so left me too it. So I woke up, fully clothed and shod, and somewhat disorientated. Thank God for pregnancy, huh?

My stats are: live in Manchester, EDD 23rd May, DS1 (5), me (34, 35 when baby arrives), DH (38, but will be staring 40 in the face by the time baby arrives)

Phew!
