The other thread was rather unwieldy!

Oh the toilet paper sounds like torture, im def in! Cant wait till tom i just measured, im 7 squares! Good lord i wonder how many i will end up being, will i be using an entire toilet roll?!

Pebble i was only offered St Marys for hosp care, it totally sucks here. I will be paying for a 20 week anomoly scan too as we only get the 16 week scan.

Jessinwa i think you should do whatever you feel most comfortable with regards to a vbac. I had a section 1st time but have gone on to have 3 natural births, 2 of which were at home. I was very determined though and read up alot on the subject to make sure i was confident with my decision. You have to be as the medical staff can make you feel terrible. Good luck, there have been lots of threads about it just do a search. I would be happy to go in to more detail for you, promise it wont be too scary!

pebblemum · 16/10/2006 22:36

LG&T-i went to St Mary's for my first two, it was ok but if im honest the care i received wasnt that good. My midwife was useless and after giving birth to ds2 i was left in all the mess for ages before anything was done. Its a shame Haslar hasnt got a maternity department, that is one of the best hospitals around here (well until they close it anyway) DH has all his ops there, because its a military hospital the care is top notch. Funnily enough its just been mentioned on ITN

MKG · 16/10/2006 23:57

Two words: Hot dogs

Why does something that is soo bad for us taste soo good? We live in a cruel cruel world.

moomimin · 17/10/2006 08:35

Morning all, err I have a French lesson this morning, brain frazzeling time!

Toilet roll tuesday. 9 weeks = 7 sheets. hehe, I don't mind being reminded of how lardy I'm getting because I hold comfort in the fact that in 7mths time I should be holding it in my arms not around my waist anymore. ohhhh wonder how many sheets we will need at the end.

Hope you are all feeling well this morning. Not long now til we should feel better.

MKG yes I love hot dogs too, but I have to say I've never had an american one and I bet they are sooooo much better. The French ones are obviously with French bread. Bit crusty, can't beat a soft soft white roll. yummm!

JonahB · 17/10/2006 09:10

Having rushed down to do the measurement (a slight interlude from working), i'm 8 weeks 4 and 6 1/2 sheets. Are we allowed 1/2 sheets?

Creena · 17/10/2006 09:23

Toilet Paper Tuesday sounds like a laugh - I'm in! Can't do a measurement just yet though, as we've got decorators in and they're painting the stairwell at the moment. Let's just hope I don't suddenly need to barf!

LG&T - I still can't get over you having to pay for your 20 wk anomoly scan. That's not right! Surely that's quite an important scan and everyone should be entitled to have it. I'm disgusted that you're having to pay for it. Decent ante-natal care should be available to everyone, regardless of where they live or what they can afford to pay for.

Right. I'll get off my high horse now!

twelveyeargap · 17/10/2006 09:27

Morning ladies. Will have to go and check that the industrial toilet paper at work doesn't have those extra large sheets (that would be cheating after all!) I'll be back...

trots off to lav's

9 weeks + 3 and I'm 8 squares and a bit. Refusing to weigh myself. I've erased from my mind, the weigh in at the doctors when I got my referral to UCLH. If I don't know what I weigh, I can't be putting on any weight.

OP posts:
largegingerpsychoandtonic · 17/10/2006 09:38

Jonah half sheets def allowed, they may become very important a bit like being 6 and 3/4 years old!

Creena i know its shocking, totally unfair. My 20 week scan will be at xmas too so the 100 squid could be much better used.

I quite fancy a hotdog now MKG, i can see you are going to be my weight downfall in this prg

I forgot to say im 7 sheets and 11+5 days. Im running out of trousers, i really really really want these lovely jeans from the seraphine website but they are £65 May have to wait a bit....

I get to see my Dh on thursday having not seen him for 7 weeks! I have a bump and boobs neither of which he has ever seen me with! Heee heee cant wait to see his face am so excited in manor of hyper 15 year old

SKYTVMOSTHAUNTEDADDICT · 17/10/2006 09:41

Morning all

I will be 12 weeks tomorrow and measure 9 squares. Thought I would be much bigger than that so don't feel too bad. I do feel huge though!

We get a 12 week and 20 week scan on NHS. Not sure where to get a Nuchal scan privately so going to rely on the blood tests at 16 weeks then decide from there depedending on the risk. I've been thinking a lot about amnio and trying to weigh up the risks and what a positive result would mean.

Still really scared about scan on Friday and I hadn't realised how much it was affecting the kids (especially DD2 who is 6) who keeps bringing it up in all conversations. We have a school disco Friday night which I help out at and she said "if we are sad on Friday will we still go to the disco?". Oh well only 3 full days to wait!!

largegingerpsychoandtonic · 17/10/2006 09:44

When my ex left me in january he took the bathroom scales So i have not been weighed since then. That means i have put on no weight at all obviously

You do wonder why a 37 year old balding, slightly wobbly man would take the scales to remind himself of his middle age spread. Still he took the rowing machine too, probably trying to keep fit for his 22 year old lap dancer girlfriend....

I say we ignore the scales too.

cacaboo · 17/10/2006 09:49

Wow there's a lot of chat going on here, it's taken a while reading up!

Toilet paper Tuesday sounds like fun - but presumably we have to choose the same time of day? First thing in the morning there is just a gentle wave to my belly, then gravity gets going and it becomes a small bump by the end of my shower. And by the evening - hmmmm.....

Tried to contact the midwife to make a booking in appointment yesterday, but not having any joy! I missed their return call due to taking DS out to buy cat food (the only distraction I could think of after yet another cry of "I need telly!"). Their message said to phone back before 9 this morning but their "we are closed" recorded message is still on. Useful! We have to do nuchal scans privately here too, must get on to arranging that.

Am generally feeling better the last few days, less tiredness and less nausea, and I'm even able to consider eating something vaguely healthy like a banana again. Makes me worry slightly - I'm only 8 weeks, isn't it meant to be 12 weeks it gets better? But then again I don't remember feeling all that rough at this stage in 1st pgy so perhaps it's ok.

Im all for the 'if i dont weigh myself i dont put on weight' theory. Right up until June i was doing really well, going to the gym 3times a week, eating healthy, losing weight. That was the last time i was weighed and that is the weight im sticking to. The fact ive been on holiday twice since then and spent the summer going to weddings and BBQs therefore ruining all my hard work doesnt come into it. In my eyes im going to stay the same weight throughout. I dont mind being pregnant and having to buy bigger clothes but when it gets put into stones and pounds it sounds terrifying.

Now if im in denial does that mean i can treat myself to the MacD i spent yesterday craving (thanks to you lot on here)and not have to worry

ShowOfBloodyAndSeveredHands · 17/10/2006 10:30

Oh I can just imagine the conversation with DH now:

?Guess what a bunch of women I?ve never met on the Internet has convinced me to do now??

Fab! I have no idea what I weigh and no interest in knowing either (scales are the work of the Dark Side) so this seems a fun alternative.

Only get a 12wk and 20wk scan here too, but my 12wk scan is next week when I will in fact be 10+4. I?m having the triple test but no nuchal fold scan. We haven?t told anybody either. I was pg in July and DH told his family and then I had an early mc. I couldn?t go through it again (telling them) so we are waiting till I?m 12wks. Or at least until I?ve had my 10+4 scan. Still no symptoms apart from sore boobs and a mini bump. If I hadn?t already had an early scan at the EPU I wouldn?t believe I?m pg.

twelveyeargap · 17/10/2006 10:55

Gosh LG&T. Forgot you'd had such a busy year this year! I remember now from your earlier posts.

OP posts:
WaspElly · 17/10/2006 11:13

heheh heh
The loo roll at work is the industrial type (well it IS a marina) and so can comfortably predict the number of sheets I will be in 7 months time...same as now - one part of one sheet!
Ok, Ok will check when I get home.
So is a sheet of toilet roll an SI measurement now?!
I know I'm the first on the list - but has anyone else told work yet?? I'm spending the first day in maternity rousers hoping no-one will notice the bump....

twelveyeargap · 17/10/2006 11:24

Told my boss a few weeks ago because I looked so ill and tired. Told the two people I work closest with last week as I was sure the bloke had guessed. (His girlfriend is pregnant at the mo.) Then I went on a night out with some work people last week and of course everyone wanted to know why I wasn't skulling champagne or caipiroskas like they were going out of fashion, so I just thought "sod it" and told them too. I'm wearing maternity trousers, so I'd rather people knew I was pregnant than speculated about my weight gain. I can't keep my mouth shut about anything. I'm terrible.

OP posts:
Creena · 17/10/2006 11:34

Have just managed to get to the loo - I'm 8 weeks and on 9 sheets (gulp!)

I haven't formally announced anything at work yet, so it's not widely known. However, I have told my manager and my closest working colleague. I had to really, as my GP signed me off work for 'complications in pregnancy'. I work from home quite a lot and so have been able to let it all hang out in yoga pants so far. I'm due in at the office soon though and I already know that I can't fit into my work trousers any more. Looks like I'll be kitted out in some rather fetching maternity trews next time everyone sees me.

I think one lady who works in the same tem as me may have guessed, though. Last time I saw her, I was wearing sea sickness bands and she blurted out "Oh! I wore those when I was expecting my last one. I found them really helpful!" As soon as she said this, she immediately blushed and looked away and changed the subject sharpish. I think the penny may have dropped slightly!

largegingerpsychoandtonic · 17/10/2006 11:34

Help! Have just been to the loo and found very murky (sorry tmi) brown discharge. It has increased alot since i became prg but has only been yellow/cream. Am worried

It could be old blood LG&T, that's being pushed out by the baby. I've just read on the net that that can happen. Don't panic. If it becomes actual bleeding then obviously call the doctor (but even then it could be something similar to a period, which can still happen when you're pregnant.) Do a bit of rummaging on Google and you'll find references to the "old blood" thing.

You'll be fine.

OP posts:
twelveyeargap · 17/10/2006 11:41

Megglevache, I started out a 14 and am 8 sheets so we're around the same I think. OMG, I am creased up at us talking about our sizes in toilet paper. I am going to stop now before I wet myself laughing.

OP posts:
moomimin · 17/10/2006 11:41

Hi French was fab, huh huh, NOT. Brain not working now.

showofhands: absoulutly pmsl at your comment about the loo roll, I too can see the picture and look on dh face, mine thinks I'm nuts talking to you all anyway. It was the bit about the bunch of women you've not met made me giggle the most.

TYG: not telling you any secrets then. lol

On a happy note too. My little brother and his dp had a little girl this morning. 10 days early, with there first. not fair! Not sure how he'll cope with a baby, but time will tell.
