Congrats jazzy and good luck cuphat!

I felt flutters at about 16 weeks rosie and this is my first too. Only if I lay very still and concentrated! They are nice and strong now at 19 weeks and I get kicks as well as what feels like rolling.

MrsBeeBeeBee · 12/01/2015 14:36

Rosie, with my first I didn't feel movement until around 19-20 weeks.
This is my 2nd and I've been feeling little movements since around 13 weeks and am now feeling wriggles most if the time!

Babies do make a lot of noise when they sleep, including very loud farts. hahahaha. I remember lying in between my husband snoring on one side of me and my daughter snoring on the other side. she stayed in our room until about 5.5months when I had a horrible cold and was waking her up all night.

Glad your scan went well jazzy

cuphat · 12/01/2015 15:20

Thanks everyone.

Just back from my 20 week scan and all is well! Very relieved. The radiographer was lovely and let my husband come in with my DD after all!

AnythingNotEverything · 12/01/2015 16:00

Yey - love logging on to see more happy scans! Congrats ladies.

We have good news too. Got our quad test results back (couldn't do nuchal fold due to baby's position) and our risk figure is 1 in 100,000 so we're pleased.

Re sleeping locations, I only brought it up as a tip as a lot of my NCT friends had to move their babies sooner than planned as they hadn't thought about baby outgrowing the Moses basket so soon. As with everything, you read the guidance and make a decision you're happy with. I hope I didn't come across as preachy Smile

I appear not to have placemarked when I thought I did...mega catch-up done! My tuppence...

Re gender: - we're not finding out. I'm not on a team, nor do I care for pink (especially) or blue differentiation. DD has a red car seat and a black sorry, charcoal pushchair. Doesn't offend me anywhere near as much as the hot pink Minnie Mouse thing complete with black tutu that we were given when DD was born. If she wants to dance, she can wear a tutu then...

Re chairs: - I have a sliding chair from Tutti Bambini. I love it, it's currently in the conservatory and I use it for sewing. I fed DD in bed or on the sofa mostly, especially in the early days, it was more useful once she was in her own room.

Re sleeping: DD was in a carrycot (with a proper mattress), in with us until 5m at which point we tried sticking her in her own room to see if that would help her sleep at all. It didn't, and it was shortly after that we started co-sleeping from whenever she woke up :)

Glad to hear the scans are going well, I have my 16w appt tomorrow, at 17w. Movements nice and regular now, right side and just below my belly button. I love it :)

newbie6 · 12/01/2015 16:24

Good news on scans, I'm getting mine tomorrow so feeling nervous. Sorry I can't remember who asked about movements but a lot will depend on whether you have an anterior or posterior placenta. Anterior means you might not feel anything till later on, say 18 weeks? I had an anterior for my first pregnancy and I'm sure it was around 20 weeks till I felt anything? I will find out tomorrow what position my placenta is but I think I have felt v slight movements and I am now 19 weeks, hope that helps!

Laughing at the Minnie in a tutu comment, thank you as I'm feeling really down today x

Chookford · 12/01/2015 16:29

cup congrats on good scan news!

Aconda · 12/01/2015 16:36

Hmm, think I just lost a message mid-post, so sorry if this appears twice.

Had 20 week scan today. All developing fine apart from kidney issue (duplex kidney on both sides) and so will need scan every four weeks and then checks after birth.

Was a bit shaken but so glad everything else looking good.

Didn't find out gender and now not sure how we are going to maintain that ignorance given that we will be scanned every five minutes!

As I understand it, a duplex kidney is basically where two kidneys develop and fuse together. So our little one has four (!) kidneys - the consultant made the point that this is far better than having too few ;)

A duplex kidney basically means the baby may be more prone to urinary tract infections, and so will be given antibiotics from birth until it is clear that the kidneys are functioning normally. Worst case scenario is an operation to remove any bits of the kidney(s) that are not functioning properly.

But apparently lots of people will have a duplex kidney and never know about it - the consultant said scans are so much more detailed now which is why it is something that is picked up on. So it could be something that just ceases to be an issue (fingers crossed).

The extra scans are to check the kidneys are functioning properly in utero. We are meeting the neonatal consultant to find out what the steps will be after the birth, but I think my priority will be managing scanxiety in the meantime!

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 12/01/2015 17:39

Yay maybe the girls will make a comeback and overtake the boys. Gorgeous clothes jazzy, 3 sleeps til our scan, I doubt we will resist the urge to buy a few little bits to mark the occasion. If we find out it's a little girl, I will be unshamedly be buying something very pink/lilac.

PregnantAndEngaged · 12/01/2015 17:45

Happy for everyone who had their scans today! :) Congratulations Jazzy on your little girl!!

Feels like forever until my scan!
