Newgirl - maybe ask on the local talk section on MN, or are you part of any local groups on FB? Definitely worth finding out if your facilitator is an anti CS hippy before you spend a fortune.

Their post natal groups are meant to be good though, and they're more of a drop in I think so massively cheaper.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 23/01/2015 22:45

Thanks chook. Elizabeth I could easily get carried away buying pinkness after 3 boys in between girls. I'm going to start knitting too.

htf2 · 23/01/2015 22:50

I am doing the nct ones - I agree they are expensive, our main reason for doing them is to meet people locally. But we only moved here from Australia in 2014 so we don't know anyone else with babies, and I might go crazy if I don't have anyone to talk to during the day for nearly a year. We are also signed up for the hospital one as we did that earlier - do people think there's no point doing two and we should cancel the hospital one ? First time parents but huge families so not completely clueless (about the baby part, definitely clueless about the pregnant part)

jazzyjenbo · 23/01/2015 22:53

Yay on todays scans and another 2 boys to add to our little lot!
Another week of scans complete and still afew ppl to update on this weeks so we may have afew more boys and girls to add to the numbers by nxt week.
Looks a little quieter on the scan front nxt week but not sure everyone has told me there dates so if u have got ur 20 week scan date (and its not on stats) let me know and i'll add it on.

Re gender : i asked them to guess at 12 week scan and sonographer was convinced it was a boy but i always thought girl. At the 20 week scan i was in there for an hour as i had a trainee aswell as the sonographer, they both looked and both said girl without conferring and showed me and it looked obviously female. I have 3 more scans so will ask them to triple check.

Boys - 24
Girls -14
Secrets - 10

Jings! But you lot type fast!!

Popping into say had my scan. Baby is above average growth at the moment. Everything looking good. Couldn't see all of spine as the pesky critter wasn't wanting to move for a clear view. To busy touching it's toes! So to waddle go back for scan next week.
And one at 32 weeks as low lying placenta.

My nausea is settling down now which is great. Just a shame I'm now getting pelvic pain, specially at work. Feels like muscles all stiffen up so waddle a bit til loosens off then I'm fine. But my word the other night I was in agony after driving home. Thought I was going to cry. Paracetamol and a hot water bottle saved the day Grin

Hope everyone is well

Jackiebrambles · 23/01/2015 23:20

Htf we did both with our first and don't regret it. The nhs ones were really good. The nct ones were definitely more 'touchy feely' and the nhs more matter of fact but I got different info from both.

Nhs showed us actual foreceps and ventouse equipment which was interesting!

I also did the nhs and nct breastfeeding workshops and the nhs one was better.

Nct was better for making friends though, for us.

jazzyjenbo · 23/01/2015 23:24

Yep i'll update all extra info tomorrow as dh has just nabbed my laptop.

Fudge, we seem to have afew cheeky little monkeys wanting extra scans... Another chance to see them is fab though. It took me 3 attempts at 20 week scan with ds... Did u find out what ur having? (Can't remember if u had already found out)

Also looks like we'll need a new thread again tomorrow!... Anyone fancy sorting one ready for when we fill this one?...(dont like doing it on my phone as the links never work)

Hey jazzy. No we're not finding out. OH wanted to but came round to my way of thinking ha ha

I can't do links on my phone either, plus I'm rubbish at thinking of thread titles. It end up being something like... "give me all the pate and cheese you have, I don't care any more. I wants it. My precious " or some food orientated nonsense like that.

Night all crawls to bed wondering if will dream of pate

bubalou · 24/01/2015 08:04

Morning lovely ladies.

Just sitting in bed at our center parcs lodge. Yesterday was very tiring with all the packing, food shopping, unpacking etc but we're all here and ready for a week of relaxing and fun.

So happy to see more great scan news. I didn't think at the time that my news might have made others who had scans coming up more anxious - I hope that's not the case and if anything you guys are more likely to have good scan news now I'm sure Smile

This little ones chance of having this problem is 1 in 5,000 and those odds are almost always when the mum is over 40, smokes, drinks or has extremely poor nutrition.

None of which I have Confused like I've said before - he's grounded until he's 30 when he gets here!

Sorry for people who have placenta related problems. I'm not very familiar with what it means or what they do but it seems like something they can manage with nowadays. Smile

How many things have people purchased now? I'm struggling as we've ordered the furniture and some clothes etc but it's difficult as awful as it sounds to get excited and buy stuff now.

Not that I'm not excited about him! Just I suppose having to think around what will happen when he's here. I've had to take back and swap newborn clothes for 0-1 or 0-3 as he will be in an incubator for first month or so without clothing.

I don't know whether to go out and buy a pram before he's here etc. I assume it's one less thing to think about afterwards. Smile

Morning chaps Smile

Off to the hairdresser today...I'll expect lots of "wow, your hair looks amazing" on bump shot day tomorrow. I kid, although I get my hair "done" it's generally up out the way 90% of the time so no one notices. Except hubs, he HAS to notice. Grin

Bubs - I've not bought a lot. I know what pram I wAnt and have the odd vest/sleepsuit thing but I keep waiting. Don't know what for? I do however kelp picking up my freebies. I'm such a Yorkshire lass!

Right, best get up and find something appropriate to wear and put some slap on so I don't have to stare at my pasty mug in the mirror for 2 hours.

Hope people have a nice morning.

Ps - there are threads where people are due in April and they are on fewer than us. We're a lovely chatty and supportive bunch. Well be on thread 20 come May/June. X

I've not bought a thing yet. Nor have I got anything out of the loft - ill-prepared mama here :) At least I've cleared the nursery out so there's room for the cot now...

Buba you might find that he's a little bit smaller than you expect - major surgery early in life often means not so much growing gets done in the first few weeks (especially as he will come before his EDD) - so don't take back all the newborn clothes!

Fudge that sounds like the perfect thread title to me Grin

Tori getting a haircut sounds lovely! I am still in bed waiting for someone to deliver boxes for moving (I put pants and a jacket on so I can answer the door and took my cup of tea back to bed :P)

I know we had this conversation a couple of weeks back (I think) and it sounded fine, but I am wondering if I should call the midwives and ask about weight, I haven't seen them since 16 weeks. While I am getting a little bump finally I'm still at my pre-pregnancy weight and I'm just over 21 weeks now. I have read that not putting on enough is not good for baby... for context I am not large - a size 8. If I were bigger to start with I know it probably wouldn't be a problem. I checked the weight tracker link someone posted and my stats on the chart look pretty terrible. Has anyone in a similar situation asked their doctor/midwife?

I don't want to make anyone struggling at the other end of the spectrum feel bad - we are all different and I was pretty sick till christmas! I never expected to have this problem -definitely hit the 0.5kg a week gain rate while travelling in Europe in 2012 (and at least twice as long to get rid of it) so thought it would be just the same with pregnancy :P

If detective is around, I am thinking of you! I really wish I had some more helpful advice.

Morning everyone! Sorry - have been following along but mainly posting on FB this week

We have 20 wk scan coming up on Wed - really looking forward to seeing bub again. Although if it's anywhere near as active as at 12 weeks it could make for a long and entertaining afternoon Smile

We are booked for NCT which seems really close to EDD to me! As it's our first and I'm one of the first of my friends to have a baby I'm really hoping it could mean a ready made network of new friends locally.

Re: stuff, we bought a travel system in Jan sales since it seemed such a good price and we were so baffled by all the options we thought we'd just make a call and go for it! I've also bought a few bits of clothing in the sales - couldn't resist Blush

Off to Brighton for a friend's birthday today so might try to get a seaside bump shot for tomorrow's bump thread Grin

JennyOfOldstones · 24/01/2015 11:13

Another cough here, even pulled a muscle in my back coughing and can't sleep on my left side now! Bought a steam inhaler so hope that helps.

We haven't bought any baby stuff yet, I asked DP when he thought we should start and he said 34 weeks which is strangely specific and obviously far too late.

Various friends and family have offered us stuff so we are going to wait and see what we get and what we need to buy.
