I'm sure all is fine Sunbathing, and you get another scan - yay!

Yep, that is why you haven't felt movement, for sure. I've got a low anterior placenta and haven't felt anything so far. And I definitely had by this point last time (when my placenta was posterior if that's the right word!).

jamakatab · 22/01/2015 18:10

Bubalou I'm so glad that your little one seems to be lined up for getting the best possible care. Flowers

With one of my daughters I was present, at her request, for both her births and for the following years I was very much a hands-on granny. My other daughter has asked that I visit when her husband goes back to work a month after the baby is born. (She's in NZ) Both different, with different needs and as their mum I respect that. It's all about what's right for them after all!!

Chookford · 22/01/2015 19:02

sun yes that would be why you haven't been feeling movement, sure everything is fine baby just being a little monkey!

Emz1989 · 22/01/2015 19:32

I think I'll be happy to have visits from my family - my, mum, nan and sister have been brilliant so far! DH's parents are... 'Difficult' to be polite! I do a grand job of biting my tongue just about every time they visit - not sure I'll be in the mood to do that post baby!! They live over an hour away and always stay over when they come, I'm selfishly pleased our spare bedroom is now a nursery! Must remember that they are his family, don't want to upset him!

traceybaybee · 22/01/2015 19:42

Eeeeeeek its scan day eve oh i am excited!

cuphat · 22/01/2015 20:14

It's hard to tell how you'll feel. I'm very close to my family but when they visited five days later I wasn't yet confident bf in front of people and DD wanted feeding constantly (a couple of minutes here and there instead of long feeds) so I spent a lot of the day in a different room. It was lovely to see them and for them to see DD but I found it quite stressful due to the constant feeding and associated guilt.

Mmmm jam sponge - sounds divine.

Alisvolatpropiis · 22/01/2015 21:54

Feeling very frustrated this evening. My husband is essentially being the least helpful person in the world. Hasn't lifted a finger with housework for weeks. This in and of itself wouldn't be such a problem if he wasn't so messy. Chaos follows in his wake.

Every time I try to raise it with him, he'll say he's tired. Quite frankly, it is making me feel violent.

Currently all I am seeing in the future is mess. Constant mess.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 22/01/2015 21:55

When I had dd my parents visited the following evening, just in time to pop into the hosp and see us being discharged! Then came home with us and bought a takeaway and champagne, cleared up and went home (2hrs drive). Perfect! My mum was back on and off over the next... Well... She still comes regularly to help out! We were then readmitted the following day as dd wasn't feeding, dh's mum came and visited the day we were discharged for s second time. She is by no means as helpful as my parents, and although she was staying in a B and B still managed to outstay her welcome!

Re mat leave etc... Think I am decided on finishing either on 8th May or 15th... I'll be almost 36 or almost 37 weeks. I think by then I'll be very much ready for a break, and my jobshare may have done my head in!!

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 22/01/2015 21:58

tori sounds delicious, love jam sponge. I had a cheeky little pot of Ben & Jerrys.

Chookford · 22/01/2015 22:10

Mmmm jam sponge... Oh now I'm hungry Shock

speedbird17 · 22/01/2015 22:24

Jealous of the yummy dinner! Really struggling to enjoy anything right now, just don't feel like eating anything that isn't remotely covered in salt Confused

Going on mat leave on the 15th here unless we sell our house/get our offer accepted on the house we love earlier and get a moving date. I'm really lucky in that I can change my chosen start date up until a couple of weeks before as I am working in a different department whilst pg.

SPD has kicked in a bit now and I'm getting super achy hips and lower back with those sharp pains if I sit/stand too long. Feel quite grateful though to get to 22 weeks as with DD I suffered from 8 weeks and could barely walk by the time I went on mat leave at 29 weeks.

PregnantAndEngaged · 22/01/2015 22:34

Baby is due 19th June and I plan on taking my remaining week of holiday from 1st June and then starting my mat leave on the 8th.

Although recently I've been thinking potentially just taking my holiday from the 8th and then have mat leave literally on the week the baby is due. Not decided yet.

This is my first baby so please tell me if you think I am mad for leaving it that late.

htf2 · 22/01/2015 22:47

alis that sounds pretty difficult! A bad weekend is fair enough maybe but weeks is a long time... time to reprioritise some activities to find the time I'd say! I would be in fits (not that I'm the tidiest person at all)

Bazza2 · 22/01/2015 22:50

Scan was inconclusive. His femur and humerus are below the expected range so we are being referred to a specialist. They asked this time and last time about the downs screening. My odds were 1 in 4200 but we are a bit concerned why they have asked. But as the sonographer pointed out (as nicely as she could!) I would be below the normal range too so fingers crossed he's just short.

traceybaybee · 23/01/2015 05:18

Morning ladies Smile well finally its the day today its 20wk scan day. Ahhh is it not 14:20 yet? Grin. I cant get back to sleep im too excited lol. I shall let you all know later what team baby alexander has put me in xx

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 23/01/2015 07:33

Sounds a bit odd Bazza. Hopefully the specialist can clear things up for you and he's just a short arse! Wink

Good luck scannees today.

I've got a raspy sore throat/chest and I have to go and shout at teach 30 infants all day HmmHmm. Anyway, time to smack the jolly face on and face the day! First task, create visibility in the car!!

Tryingreallyhard84 · 23/01/2015 07:38

Tracey - 520 am? seriously?! Grin

Good luck. today will draaaggg but I hope not too much. get busy at work or with some housework if you're at work. Grin

Tryingreallyhard84 · 23/01/2015 07:43

bazza - hope all okay. I'm under 5ft too. love it when people try to point out diplomatically that you're short, as though it might come as a shock.

bubalou · 23/01/2015 08:05

Good luck today tracey Smile

Bazza I wouldn't worry too much. They are just being thorough I'm sure. Smile

Good luck everyone that has scans and check ups etc.

Off to center parcs today which is great. Feeling a little sorry for myself because as if this hasn't been the worst week of my life already I've got a UTI. I have to laugh really or I will have a nervous breakdown Grin

The midwife from my local unit called yesterday with results and she had no idea about what had happened the previous days with the baby etc - I was just like 'that's faaaaaantastic, anything else'!!!

Yes of course there is something else - yesterday also found out that husbands company has messed up his tax code so it looks like we might owe £6k.

January 2015 so far can go fuck itself!!! Wink

bubalou · 23/01/2015 08:06

That was such a miserable post.

Just ignore me. I'm tired and hungry and cranky.

No change there then. Smile

Jackiebrambles · 23/01/2015 08:25

Morning Junebugs!

Cripes its cold this morning. Took forever to be able to see through my windscreen.

Oh sorry Buba that is shit. Can they give you something for the UTI so you are more comfortable at centre parcs? OMG at the tax code thing as well, wankers! If it’s their fault will you be able to do a gradual payment plan do you think?

Fingers crossed for you Bazza too.
Good luck for the scannees today!

htf2 · 23/01/2015 08:30

buba Hope the weekend picks up and you get on top of your uti so you can enjoy it! (the weekend not the uti) I drink cranberry juice like crazy as soon as I think I have one.
bazza I am sure it's hard not to think about but try not to stress, I'm sure they are being thorough. Makes you wonder if they should have different measurements for different sized people though - it doesn't seem revolutionary that short people are more likely to grow short people! (Unfortunately for me my version is that huge headed DH is more likely to have me grow huge headed babies)
It's Friiiiiiiiday

AnythingNotEverything · 23/01/2015 08:33

Bubalou hey says things come in 3s, so hopefully that's all for you. Hope the UTI clears up quickly.

Re: tax - DH has ended up in a really complicated tax position due to a mistake years ago that we didn't even know about until he started doing a tax return for child benefit purposes. Turns out he's been overpaying tax for years to repay a historic underpayment. As it's not your DH's fault, I would hope they'd allow him to do similar. He'll need to lay it on thick about dropping to one I come during mat leave etc. Best of luck trying to get hold of someone.
HMRC are notoriously difficult to communicate with.

Anyway, enjoy centre parcs. You guys deserve a break.

Really nice to see all the scan info coming in. Anyone scanning today? 9 more days until mine ...
