whyo I haven't used newborn ones either but my friend said they were great. I hate pampers whatever they put in them smells so strong it also made ds's bum so sore it weeped. I ended up on Tesco newborn last time but have gone Aldi this time.

I am so disheartened I thought a sweep like I had would have started me off

Hello, the nurse on duty got me to go in and be checked. Bleeding was nothing to worry about, something superficial, and a tiny amount, ie, maybe knocked myself somehow, and baby ok on ECG and placenta and heart all fine on scan, but my blood pressure was awful, three readings 20 mins apart each that were way too high, so they sent me home with drugs to bring it down. My insurance has a limit for maternity cover so it's been something of an expensive evening as I'm trying to save the bulk of the cash for delivery so had to "self pay"

I think the high BP is hospital induced, ie, anxiety about being in hospital, but they were worried that it wouldn't go down even after they said baby OK. I feel a bit if a tit though although I suppose it's better to go when they tell you than sit at home worrying even if it does work out expensive.

Thanks for all your good wishes.

Bangonthedoor · 18/01/2015 19:38

Sorry to hear things haven't started for you memphis I really hope things get going for you before Wednesday. What time do you go in on Wednesday?

Thinking of you both jen and amy you'll have your little ones super soon Smile

I've had a busy one today, I went over your way today geeky to the Flying Fortress in ford for my nephews birthday then rushed straight to my baby shower afterwards which was lovely and I happily ate lots of cake!

My house is such a tip, for once I really hope the baby doesn't want to come in the next couple of days as I don't want to bring it home to all the mess! Operation clean up tomorrow!

memphis I've just ordered my dirty kebab Grin

Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 19:40

Giant you were right to get it checked, also think of the positive of they have you recorded in hospital of having high bp so now know it is prone to rise when in hospital, if this had happened for first time when in labour they may have worried more.

Cookie1831 · 18/01/2015 19:48

Shit I knew there was something I missed from my baby bag WINE ??
I had a lovely gin and tonic last night mmmm

Bangonthedoor · 18/01/2015 19:50

Eeek its so not long until wine time!!

Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 20:02

Cookie, I bought a mini Lanson champers for my arrival home (dh won't do champers hense the single person size bottle) and i have a can of wine spritzer for once I pop....my friend considered it an essential and got it for me Grin

Cookie1831 · 18/01/2015 20:44

Aw that is a true friend!!!Well there is a bottle of champers in the fridge that I got as a Christmas pressie so will probably be cracking that open within the first few days of being home (will have to share with husband tho boo) that is a lovely thought should be sometime in the next few weeks woohoo!!!37+3 today and time going slowly am so impatient!!

Minichuch · 18/01/2015 20:48

Mini bottle of champers has just gone onto the list of things I need to buy still for hospital bag - remember my mum saying when she was in having me her mum brought her a prawn sandwich and port and lemon to have whilst she was in the Hospital after having me - in fairness it was 1980 and she was in for nearly 5 days

freneticfox · 18/01/2015 20:58

Having a flap, got period like pains in my lower back that are coming and going along with the discharge and also delightful loose bowels... Erk..

Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 21:05

Mini I love a port and lemon and prawn sarnie so I would be happy with that now!

Frenetic.....stay calm this could be it, loose bowels and back pain, keep us posted, are you calling mat unit or seeing how you go?

I just watched call the midwife and ended up crying and having a panic, I never thought I would get like this!

Bangonthedoor · 18/01/2015 21:11

Ah I've got the same frenetic! Refusing to believe it could be anything though Grin to be fair I've rushed about all day so it could just be that. Keep us posted! And like memphis says stay calm Smile

Bangonthedoor · 18/01/2015 21:13

I watched call the midwife too memphis also had a teary moment and hid behind my hands whilst crossing my legs at the birth!

freneticfox · 18/01/2015 21:27

Memphis, I'm in limbo at the moment, don't know what to do! Put the hot water on to have a bath, since I'm not term should I be calling mat unit?

GeekyHybrid · 18/01/2015 21:27

Lots of potential happenings out there, it's getting exciting!
Have done knack all today so like you bang I really don't want it to arrive too soon, house is such a mess and I haven't even started washing cot sheets etc..Also got to admit to never having been to the flying fortress, guessing I'll be getting to know it fairly well in the next few years. As a couple we're more likely to go down Climping beach and accidentally pop in the white horse or oyster catcher Wink

Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 21:39

Frenetic I personally would just see if you start getting pains at regular intervals but if you feel you need reassurance you should call unit to put your mind at ease. Try having a bath and see if that eases things for you but most importantly stay calm.

longbottom · 18/01/2015 21:52

Thanks for the aldi tip Memphis, I shall give them a go. My mum has bought me a couple of small packs of pampers size 2. I used huggies and boots with DD but they no longer exist?
Ooh, hope that something is happening for some of you, I think we all need a birth to keep us going!!

Bangonthedoor · 18/01/2015 21:56

long I know huggies nappies were taken off the UK shelves a year or 2 ago leaving just the swim pants available. Not sure about boots though, I always used to get those for DD so hope they still exist!

BanglesSpangles · 18/01/2015 22:01

Ooh keep us posted frenetic!

Have had a productive but chilled day- lots of washing (all the baby clothes are done now), a bit of painting, and the baby's room's all ready for the carpet to be laid on wednesday, punctuated by a brilliant nap, call the midwife, my first attempt at crochet and the first hot cross bun of the year!

OP posts:
Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 22:03

Yes Huggies have gone in the uk, Sainsburys and Boots changed at same time apparently due to them being made by same place as Huggies.
Lots of people swear by Pampers but they reacted with ds. Huggies were another one we tried and they leaked as ds had hardly any bottom and skinny legs, we couldn't get them tight enough to fit him!

I have been lying on my ball with my shoulders on sofa while dh pedals my legs (that sounds rude but it wasnt meant to Grin) try and get something moving.....I was laughing so much..... If my waters were going to pop they would have thenGrin

longbottom · 18/01/2015 22:23

I'm happy with own brands, anyone used tesco newborn nappies? I want to avoid the poonami as much as I can!!
I have a day off on Thursday so going to get last bits for hospital bag and pack it, wash the baby clothes and nap! I will be officially ready for the baby then.

Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 22:25

Long I used them last time and although I hate Tesco and it pains me to say it they were fab, we don't have a Tesco locally now we have moved. They have the mesh weave to help soak in the poop.

sandulacek · 18/01/2015 22:33

Wow lots of action, I wonder who's going to have the next baby!

Memphis, loving your hospital bag content. I'm already planning what food I want my DH to bring me (sushi, cheese, pate...) Smile.

I do get the pain just above my fanjo after sitting down or when I get up during the night but it goes within few moments. Also it's quite swollen down there, is that normal? Mostly just on one side. I'm scared to look though...

BanglesSpangles · 18/01/2015 22:34

Ive got some tescos, some asda, some aldi and pampers- going to give them all a go and see how it pans out
