Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I also heard only good things about the aldi nappies. A proud owner of a newborn pack myself to see how she's going to like them. Couldn't believe the difference in price compared to pampers! Shock

Mimosa1 · 18/01/2015 22:36

Hi everyone! Good luck to Amy, jen, Memphis and frenetic - so exciting !!!

Finished packing my hospital bag this weekend, and have put in a pack of vests and a pack of baby grid that are new (still in their packaging). Do they need to be taken out and washed beforehand though?

Thanks!

sandulacek · 18/01/2015 22:56

mim I think most people wash everything even if it's new. So that's what I'm planning to do too.

Memphisbelly · 18/01/2015 23:06

Mim a lot of people do wash things due to starches that they spray on clothes in factories, some don't.

Sand I have been swollen for a while down there not massivly but I can tell, apparently its normal as head puts more pressure on.

I am getting a pain in my groin from pressure of him on a nerve he needs to move before my walk on school run tomorrow.

Had weirdest sensation tonight kicking below the rib and him pushing his foot out you could feel the outline of his tiny foot, dh's face lit up, never had that with ds but think its because im a lot smaller this time

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 18/01/2015 23:23

Mim last time I'd washed all the 0-3 but not the single pack of newborn sleepsuits and bodysuits I'd bought, as DS was supposed to be huge and I was expecting to need to return them. Then he was born a skinny little 7lb2oz. So he had to go in the unwashed newborn and people went out to buy him more newborn stuff, none of which I had time to wash.

After that I didn't wash any new clothes only secondhand things. DS was fine until last week when at 2yrs10months he had a reaction to a new t-shirt. It was where the printed design was that he reacted. It was only a slight rash that didn't seem to bother him. But now I'm thinking I'll throw it all in a quick wash just to make sure.

freneticfox · 19/01/2015 02:18

False alarm here.. False labour and BH caused by... Urine infection. Codeine made the pain stop, so I'm hoping I can get some sleep at least...

Memphisbelly · 19/01/2015 07:21

frenetic hope pain eased and you slept ouch to uti!

BanglesSpangles · 19/01/2015 08:11

Boo to urine infections

I seem to be getting better at sleep again- only had to actually get out of bed to turn over 3 times yesterday, and managed to do stretches from the relative comfort of bed when the cramp got me, so there was no roaming the house at 4am- happy days! Still bloody knackered though!

Poor frenetic, UTI's suck!

Had to run for the bus this morning, don't think baby appreciated it and I'm now shattered and facing a full week of work Sad
3 weeks left at work, cannot wait now.

Bangonthedoor · 19/01/2015 08:43

Go easy at work today long is there not a way you could possibly finish earlier than planned?

Thanks for update frenetic hope you're feeling ok this morning.

After I got into bed last night, my pains eased. I think it just must have been all the rushing about I did yesterday.

Have a good day all - memphis I hope you have a day of bouncing on that ball planned Grin

Minichuch · 19/01/2015 09:08

I'm in work but only going to work half day - I've come down with cold and slept shockingly so come in this morning and told them I will work from home this afternoon

mildatheart · 19/01/2015 09:11

Sounds like we're all suffering. I keep really looking forward to when the baby's here because at least I'll be waking up for something useful, not because I'm being simultaneously kicked in the robs and punched in the bladder.

Grinningcat · 19/01/2015 10:01

Slept better last night and managed a whole 5 hours in a single block.

Had a major meltdown taking my cat to the vets this morning. She is having a general anasthetic to have a broken tooth removed, but is an older cat and therefore there is more risk. I am more stressed about that than anything to do being pregnant or giving birth. I have this irrational thought that I can't have my cat and a baby and that something will happen to the cat. The vet nurse was very good and understanding as I explained that I was 35 weeks pregnant and was crying at anything let alone the possibility of seeing my cat for the last time.

Memphisbelly · 19/01/2015 10:12

Baby is a lot lower or just lying on the bladder as I was up a lot in the night for a wee this isn't something I have done much all pregnancy, one thing thats changed is I was going loo for a trickle and now I am going it is like niagra falls so where the hell has it been going before Confused

Ds ended up crying at school he is so sensitive and doesn't want to leave me, he knows something is happening soon as he has seen bags in hallway and stuff, those with children already how do you feel about leaving your kids to give birth or those on 3rd banies how was it leaving your first born? i am very wobbly about it today, dh thinks im being silly but I really don't want to leave him

WhyOWhyWouldYou · 19/01/2015 10:30

Memphis I feel OK about leaving DS, he stays with nanny sometimes (at her house or ours), so me and DH can get a weekend to ourselves for a recharge. DS always loves it. So I'm hoping it'll just be like that for him.

I'm not so sure about him visiting me in hospital though (obviously elcs means at least 24hrs in). He's getting increasingly upset that mommy's hurting at the moment, even though I'm trying my damned hardest to hide it from him. So I'm not sure if him seeing me in hospital will upset him too.

Grinningcat · 19/01/2015 10:32

Memphis, this is my first so I can't help, but all I can say is that you are not being silly. Considering how wobbly I feel today about leaving the cat, I can completely understand how much worse you must feel about your DS.

Memphisbelly · 19/01/2015 10:39

WhyO ds goes to my mums weekly and also enjoys a sleep over with my sister, but I call a lot im worried if it drags on he will fret, I have prewarned him it may take a few days for doctors to get the baby out and not to worry, I told him I might just go home with baby quickly for him to meet his brother but he may come hospital I said if he comes to the hospital he could take daddy to buy the baby a balloon in the shop and we bought a present for baby from ds for baby, I also have a present from baby to ds in my hospital bag.

Grinning, that has reminded me I need to call kennels to put dog in for a few days so he isn't alone for long periods of time! The dog ows something is wrong too he will not leave me alone at all!

freneticfox · 19/01/2015 11:12

I have a sore back this morning from all the contracting, stupid UTI. It was a stealth one as well, no symptoms apart from the back pain.

Memphisbelly · 19/01/2015 11:36

Frenetic I suppose now you have no worries about not have any BH though, try and rest up today and recover a UTI can really take it out of you when pg more than normal.

Im have my niece here this morning, so just chilling out watching cartoons and doing my last of laundry, mum is taking it to dry it so I can collect it tomorrow and it be all ready to put away!

Movements feel odd today really low rooting around, once ds and dh is home I am just going to try and enjoy my last few days of my life with a bump.

jen hope you are doing ok

freneticfox · 19/01/2015 11:40

Getting exciting Memphis; though I'm at a stage where I can't remember life without a bump! I have a wiggly cub today. He put on a hell of a performance while I was hooked up to a monitor last night. "What a bouncy baby!" one midwife exclaimed with a beaming smile.

Yeesss, don't my insides know it!

Honeybird · 19/01/2015 11:45

Memphis I'm not keen on leaving the kids, but chances are they will be with their dad most of the time. In fact all of the time, if DH has anything to do with it. He is not good with hospitals, blood, pain... Says he would be happy to stay at home and let me do the whole thing with my best friend. But she might have to be working, depending on timing, and I think DH might regret it if he isn't there at least for the moments just after birth. So I'm playing it all by ear.

My perfect first born spent 12 hours with his grandad then another 12 or so with his dad when dc2 was born. He was only 2 1/2 and I think had a ball with grandad so there was no problem. He is now older and I am more worried about him at this age, wondering what is going on and how mama is doing, than I am with dc2 who is only just 2. I think their age and understanding plays a big part but sounds to me like you have your son well prepared!

Memphisbelly · 19/01/2015 11:47

Ah frenetic I will be glad to have my body back I am not bothered about wobbly bits etc but will be nicecto get out of bed wuickly without it feeling like a marathon.
I hated the kicks and moving belly last time but this time I have enjoyed it, yes I have a performer of a baby too when last hooked up to the monitor the mw was telling him off for kicking the monitor Grin nice that you have happy midwives and not the hospital experience like last place you were booked in at

Memphisbelly · 19/01/2015 11:52

Honey yes ds is 4.5 it is so hard as he is sensitive and very concious about pain and blood so I have to be careful what I say to him but we are as prepped as can be. I was in delivery room for nearly 50 hours last time so I am worried about him not being able to talk to me if it as slow next time, although last time after my epidural I rang my dad and said 'I am 10 cm dialated and I will be allowed to push in next hour' so it may be like this but calling ds if possible.
I am just being silly I think, trying to find things to worry about Grin

suzimagoozi · 19/01/2015 11:59

Quick question for you ladies...anyone else's bump suddenly go (and stay) super hard?

Am 38 + 4 and had some very light period type cramps last night that lasted for a few hours and woke up with a rock solid bump that hasn't gone back to normal. Wondering if this is just BH or something else? It's so unusual but can still feel LO moving around and am pain free so hoping it's nothing to be concerned about. Freaked DH right out and he's now wanting me to organise HIS hospital bag just in case it's close to showtime! Grin

Honeybird · 19/01/2015 12:07

That is a bit odd Suzi! I have lots of bh but each individual one never lasts more than a minute or so. So no help here, sorry, but maybe it is something you should just give your midwife a quick call about. Keep us posted either way, very curious!
