Hi All

Here's what may or may not be our final thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Frenetic hope it passes, Have you been pushing your pushchair around house today?

freneticfox · 16/01/2015 22:54

No, DH stopped me! There's a chance it's anxiety. Now we have the pram sorted, the hospital bags are all but packed... We're ready to have a baby. Apparently this has caused a minor 'Oh jesus we will actually be doing this for real' freak out.

A friend of mine who is a week or so ahead of me and lives over the US gave birth last week at 36+6, we've been emailing throughout the whole pregnancy experience (we met online as recovering emetophobics). I'm so happy that she and baby are safe and well, it's just scary that she was early... I still could have another five weeks!

I hope the first time Mum freak out isn't uncommon :p

Memphisbelly · 16/01/2015 23:01

First time mum freak out??? I have been having second time mum freakout Grin seriously its normal, by the time your dh goes back to work you will both be amazing nappy changers, car seat fitters and pushchair collapsers.... It is amazing how quickly you pick things up....this is the only thing saving me from my freakout as I have forgotten most things but I know it will all come back Grin

I think everything went over my head last time, this time I have worried loads more, I think ds's arrival was a shock, this time we tried for 2 years and had given up hope which made me worry more Smile

Honeybird · 16/01/2015 23:11

I have a sweep booked for 38+5 and am starting to think I should cancel. I heard somewhere it can make your waters go which I don't want to happen early in labour, and I was previously under the impression it was painless but clearly not Memphis!

I went into labour entirely without intervention at 38+6 withDs and 39+4 with DD. So should I skip the sweep? It was booked to make sure I don't go overdue, as with VBAC they won't induce, it would be straight to elcs. Thoughts?

Honeybird · 16/01/2015 23:12

Third time mother freak out here.

freneticfox · 16/01/2015 23:41

I'm in good company then! :P

I also admit to being desperate to meet our boy. He's so wanted and loved already, I can't wait to properly look at him, have DH hold him etc. Soppy alert, now I'm all teary...

sandulacek · 17/01/2015 03:34

So I'm in the wide awake club. Oh well had few nights maybe even weeks without it so should be grateful.

Having a FTM freak out nearly every day. With the date set for elcs it's even more real and the countdown is definitely on. Just hope she doesn't decide to turn up earlier! That would freak me out...

Memphisbelly · 17/01/2015 03:58

Honey I think in your situation I would have it, take 2 paracetamol before I honestly had no warning of it happening and as in this area thet dont do internals until 40+2 or sweeps until 41 weeks i was totally taken by suprise. I had pain in one localised area and the man was big and rough Confused

Memphisbelly · 17/01/2015 04:52

Frenetic I am the same my utter favourite part of the day I had ds was looking over at the utter look of love dh gave ds as he held him for first time. i honestly thought he would burst! This time it is seeing dh with the baby and ds meeting him, he is so excited to have a baby brother.

I am now on the sofa with crumpets and a cuppa, I am getting BH and am just overthinking things....the fact that this time next week we will have our baby here eek!

Mimosa1 · 17/01/2015 06:46

Morning everyone. I see I'm not the only riser / insomniac on the thread. Am soooo tired but too uncomfortable to sleep well - the next person who tells me to "enjoy the rest now before the baby comes" is going to get full preggo rage! Grin
Only 4 more days of work next week - can't wait! My handover chat with my boss keeps getting pushed back bc she's busy and it's getting me a bit stressed. Oh well, my notes are typed up, so if anything exciting happens beforehand, they'll be a record. Hope everyone has a good day!

BanglesSpangles · 17/01/2015 07:04

Morning all

Ive been having a FTM freak out too, to the point that i have banned myself from going on any MN thread apart from this one!

The whole giving birth thing im totally ok with, but what happens after, and particularly, this final little bit has given me the major 'arghs'! The whole of last week ive been unfeasibly petrified, but my straight-talking midwife made me feel better yesterday by basically telling me to stop being an idiot- just what i needed!

So now im freaking less and am going to go to buy some felt today to make a cot mobile

Morning ladies Smile

I'm totally having a 2nd time mum freak out too...DP has also just realised we're having another baby Grin

The whole waiting game starts, the thing that really unsettles me is the not knowing when it's going to happen. Like it could be 3 weeks or it could be 5! I bloody hope it isn't 5! It would be good if someone could just say it will happen within the next 3 weeks...then I'll at least know!

memphis you're so nearly there now!

I remember it took both DP and I to change DD's nappies in the early days, I was so proud when I managed to do it on my own Grin I think the love really blossoms between the 2 of you as well. As much as I loved DP before DD came along, when she finally did, I'll always remember the way he looked at me was like no other ....totally gave me a big head and made me feel like the queen Wink

Bangonthedoor · 17/01/2015 07:24

Another thing I enjoyed last time was all the well dones I got from people Grin I was like yes I bloody do deserve a well done like never before. I was sad when those stopped Grin

purpleteapig · 17/01/2015 07:28

Another one here having sporadic freak outs. I feel as it's 2nd time the mws assume I know it all as they keep saying stuff like 'as you remember from last time...' etc and I'm thinking 'I don't remember what to do!'. That goes both for labour and afterwards.
Also had my 36 wk app yesterday (at 37 wks) and had high bp as I got myself worked up...need to try & calm down about having it taken.
Got a look around the birthing centre today and a short active labour class, so hoping that will make me feel a bit more in control.

Mimosa1 · 17/01/2015 08:02

Bang, that is so romantic. Lovely hearing how your dd brought you and your dp closer Smile

My ftm freak out is all about keeping the baby at the right temperature and what to have her sleep in. Too small for sleeping bags in the Moses basket but haven't quite got to grips with the right amount of sheets and blankets. Am planning to read up this weekend!

JacktheLab · 17/01/2015 09:28

I think it's natural to worry about stuff, it's such a huge change to our lives, even with second and subsequent babies, the whole family dynamic changes. Plus we are now all mostly just sitting round waiting, waiting, waiting.....

I think having my csection booked helps, I have a date but then as the day gets closer it's also quite stressful knowing time s running out! That said I keep wishing that I'll go into labour on my own so it's just done without all the build up beforehand!

Have a lovely day everyone, I have my monthly knitting group this morning, last one for three or so months I think :(

donkir · 17/01/2015 09:55

I'm worried about everything. I feel like a ftm even though I'm not.
Great day planned today though as I've got my baby shower. Exciting!

Bangonthedoor · 17/01/2015 11:01

Ah have a fun baby shower donkir!

How are you feeling today memphis?

DD's got a birthday party to go to shortly, then her little cousins birthday party is tomorrow closely followed by my baby shower, so busy weekend here too!

GeekyHybrid · 17/01/2015 11:12

Instead of a tea break I'm having a gaviscon break! The joys of pregnancyHmm Hopefully by the end of the weekend we can start putting paint back on things. For some reason I feel like there's a deadline looming Wink

Memphisbelly · 17/01/2015 12:07

glad its my last day sick of people telling me how rough I look!

GeekyHybrid · 17/01/2015 12:22

memphis Have you managed to resist retorting with "I'm 8&3/4 months pregnant with a young child, what's your excuse"?! ;-D

Memphisbelly · 17/01/2015 12:33

one was a regular and I said 'I have been up since 3 and had a doc put his hand up me like a puppet' she said sorry Grin

GeekyHybrid · 17/01/2015 12:59

Almost there memphis, only a couple more hours. People!
As for me, I've finished stripping the door so I'm going to reward myself with a cooked breakfast for lunch and a nap in front of the snooker! Grin

freneticfox · 17/01/2015 14:46

Hey all, fancy some TMI? 36w today and massive increase in discharge. So. Glam.

GeekyHybrid · 17/01/2015 15:11

Thanks frenetic makes me feel good about the involuntary gurgling and belching ;-D
This nap is proving a bit elusive. OH just got home saying he's headachey etc so maybe when he's finished his cuppa and settled we can both nap.
