so sorry to hear your news carrot Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

birchwoods · 13/01/2015 11:19

Carrot, so sorry to hear your awful news. Keep us updated and look after yourself.

Welcome to the newbies!

I've been a bit quiet (again) recently but had 'first contact' mw appointment last Thursday. She took blood, urine sample, bp, height, weight etc...and gave me my notes. I was there about 30 mins. She's coming to my house on 19th to go through all the questions in the notes (booking appt), which will take about an hour I think. I'm having my flu jab on Thursday this week and my 12 week scan is on 27th Jan, when I will be exactly 12 weeks according to my early scan.

Symptom-wise, I've had constipation on and off and am experiencing the sharp constipation pains that some of you are having too! I found that butternut squash and lentil soup helped a lot but it's so boring! My boobs aren't as tender and don't seem as 'full' but I'm not too worried as apparently this is normal at this stage (I'm 10 weeks today). I haven't really ha any nausea all the way along so far and although I saw/heard a heart beat at my early scan (6+5) I am still anxious about my 12 week scan. Two weeks seems to far away, I wish I could get a weekly scan just to hear the heartbeat and put my mind at ease! Other than that I've felt tired and worked from home yesterday as I had a really bad headache, I think because I overdid it at the weekend and didn't take a break.

Has anyone else put on quite a bit of weight already? I don't know if it's because it was Christmas and I have just been allowing myself to pig out more (I'm usually quite strict about my diet) but I have gone from 8st12 when I found out, to 9st4 already!! Shock I'm worried how much I'm going to put on if I keep going at this rate!

In terms of finding out the sex of the baby, I'm undecided. I have always thought that I'd want to know. I'm a bit of a control freak and like to get all organized, I'm not normally good with surprises, but for the past couple of days I've thought about how amazing it would be for my DH to tell me when it's born, so I just don't know! We all have a while to decide though. What's everyone else thinking they will do?

Guyropes · 13/01/2015 17:12

Oh carrot puff, I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. Hope you're getting lots of TLC from your nearest and dearest.

Like a few of you, I was starting to feel a bit better, but then I got a cold! So been taking it easy. And lots of honey and lemon.

I'm not sure about knowing the sex... I'm inclined towards a delivery room surprise.

MrsTea81 · 13/01/2015 17:22

I'm a complete control freak but definitely leaning towards not finding out the sex, not at all bothered either way and easy to get neutral essential items and simply add to them once the baby is born.

Not put on weight yet but noticed my waist does seem to be thickening, don't know if that's down to baby or bloat at the moment though as I'm 10+3 or thereabouts.

toothachereturns · 13/01/2015 18:54

I'm off now for my early scan. Wish me luck! Confused

karatekimmi · 13/01/2015 19:03

I haven't put on weight (actually lost a little bit post Christmas) but my jeans feel uncomfortable and my belly feels bloated to me, but not noticeable to others I hope!!

happygojo · 13/01/2015 19:25

I have lost 5lbs since falling of, but this week (9 weeks) my tummy has gone pop! I can still get into some of my work trousers fit but are uncomfortable by the end of the day..... Just bloating because I have started eating again

toothachereturns · 13/01/2015 19:58

All good. Wee kidney bean wriggling around. Measured 8 wks + 3 days. Smile

Frolicacid · 13/01/2015 20:54

Good news tooth! Fx we'll see the same on .
Did they manage to see it from an abdominal scan? DH is freaked put that it may have to be vaginal!!

I'm exactly the same weight as when I found out. It's amazing considering the amount of crisps and sugary lemonade I get through, but not surprising given the vomitting.

mrsTea, I hear you on the back to work tiredness. I feel utterly exhausted every day. I'm in bed now, but I know I'll be the same tomorrow no matter how early I sleep tonight.

I fell a bit crap this week. Like I'm being a crap wife, crap friend and crap employee. I think I'm running on empty and I hate not giving 100%. My job is quite demanding, so home life is taking the hit. Poor old DH is being amazing, but I feel really sorry for him as I am barely contributing to chores.

Whinge over!! I can't you how much I admire those of you who are looking after dc's and feeling crap.

toothachereturns · 13/01/2015 20:57

Frolic it was really clear just with an abdominal scan and only a half full bladder. It was wriggling around. I wasn't expecting that! My eldest 2 (ages 13 and 10) were in the room with us too. They're very excited! Smile

Frolicacid · 13/01/2015 21:03

Oh that's lovely tooth. How nice for big siblings to be involved as well.
The word Sunday disappeard from my post. My scan is Sunday. I will be 8+4 then according to LMP. I think i'm a few days behind that going from ovulation. I really hope we see a healthy, wriggly bean.

toothachereturns · 13/01/2015 21:12

Fingers and toes crossed for you! Smile
Makes it all feel so real. Holy shot what have we done!?? Grin

toothachereturns · 13/01/2015 21:13

er.. Holy shit I mean lol.

D00dles · 13/01/2015 21:57

I had a scan at 8+6 frolic and that was also abdominal. Very clear and could see a little heart flickering away too.
Brilliant news tooth!
I've got fat and I'm showing, a friend who I haven't told asked me when my second one is due and a lady at work just came out with 'are you pregnant?' I was tempted to say no I've eaten too much recently and see how embarrassed she would have got! Grin

Daveface · 13/01/2015 22:43

I'm full on in maternity clothes now Shock

My work colleagues must be blind or stupid not to have noticed! (Though in reality they probably have but are far too polite to mention it!)

Not even 11 weeks yet, I blame third baby spread.

otter32 · 14/01/2015 07:11

I think I'm a combination of extra Christmas fat, bloating, constipation and baby! Have been like this since about 10 weeks though. Not hit the maternity clothes though, am living in dresses and skirts instead. And jeans done up with a stretchy bobble!

Frolicacid · 14/01/2015 07:12

Thanks doodles. I'm so excited and nervous!

I don't need them yet but the maternity jeans I ordered in the sale came yesterday. They are so comfy!! I can't wait to start wearing them, and will probably be doing so sooner rather than later.

Have a good day everyone.

Dozygirl · 14/01/2015 08:06

I'm back from my holiday now.

carrot so sorry to hear what you're going though. I hope u have lots of support around you.

I've forgotten every thing else that's been talked about now I've come to post lol.

I enjoyed being away but felt very unpregnant most of the time. Maybe it was because of the all inclusive food meant I never went hungry. I missed breakfast once and felt nauseous so made sure I always made it after that.

All I keep thinking about is that I'm gonna get to the scan and they'll be no baby there. I don't know why! I'm trying to think positively but these horrible thoughts keeps creeping into my head. I never thought I'd be as paranoid about things because I'm never like this but anything baby related has sent me a bit cuckoo haha.

Anyway it was nice to be away and basically do nothing. Work is gonna be a shock because I'm used to 3 hour naps haha. Baby didn't like flying. Got very crampy both times but settled afterwards.

lily yey for the skiing and doing a black run!! Bet the fresh mountain air did u good. I wanna go now lol.

Oh and the weight think. Dreading weighing myself post holiday. Mine is definitely Xmas weight though. Going back to healthy eating now for baby's sake.

Bra shopping today. I have one bra that just about fits but one boob is defo trying to escape from it. Just want something comfy now.

birchwoods · 14/01/2015 09:51

Morning everyone!

Dozy, glad you had a lovely, relaxing holiday. Less than two weeks in to the new year back and work and I'm ready for more time off...I miss Christmas naps!

Bra-wise, try Belvia bras. I have two normal slightly padded non-wired (not maternity bras, just no underwire) from M&S and one Belvia and the Belvia is by far the most comfortable, I'm going to stock up on them. They're a bit like a crop top/sports bra but more supportive. You can get them with removable padding too. They don't dig in round your bag, which the M&S ones do and I get really bad back fat with them.

Ooh that's a good idea buying some maternity jeans in the sale, I'm going to have a look now!

I'm trying to get back to healthy, clean eating now and upping my exercise a bit more. I've finally realized that eating a large meal just makes me feel totally bloated and uncomfortable so I'm going to try and have a few smaller meals instead and see if that helps.

Have a good day everyone.

Isabeau1980 · 14/01/2015 11:20

Does anyone mind if I freak out here?

Both times I've been to the bathroom today there's been brown coloured discharge. Kinda like the very start or end of my period. I have a few twinges too. I'm so scared. I have a doctor's appointment but it's not until 5 tomorrow. I'm 11w1d.

birchwoods · 14/01/2015 12:46

Try to stay calm isa, have you called EPU to ask them? They may be able to see you sooner. Brown blood isn't usually anything to worry about I don't think but I understand why you're scared, it's such a worrying time. I hope you get seen quickly and they can ease your worries.

Isabeau1980 · 14/01/2015 12:52

EPU?

I'm guessing Early Pregnancy Unit?

I'm not in the UK, our first meeting with anyone outside our GP is between 10 and 14 weeks. Mine is scheduled for next Friday 23rd.

I'm trying to keep myself calm but...

At least it's only tiny bits, not even enough to get on my underwear (Sorry if TMI) but it's my first so I have no experience to base it on.

Isabeau1980 · 14/01/2015 13:46

Managed to get an appointment with my own doctor (cancellation) for this evening.

Keeping my fingers crossed that everything is okay.

Emb540 · 14/01/2015 14:41

Fingers crossed ISA

CARROT I am so sorry to hear big hugs!!

I've just come home from my biking in appointment feeling excited and real now. Apparently I should have my scan at 11 weeks as they've changed it since the girls. So either next week or week after eeek!! So excited mind so much has changed in what 4 years. Can't wait now just hope all is well at scan x

Dozygirl · 14/01/2015 16:52

Hope everything's OK isabeau and it's nothing sinister.

Bought some non underwired bras from m&s. They let me keep it on after trying it. It's so comfy! Completely ugly but it fits and has room to grow hopefully.

Also found some jeans for 11 quid in mamas and papas. They're bootcut so not what I usually wear but u couldn't deny the price.

Rang the midwives myself and first they offered me 5th Feb for booking in appt but then they said next Tuesday which is better. I would have been 12+6 on the 5th Feb! That felt way too late. Anyway Tuesday is good.
