Siani I'm the same, I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and have put on a stone! I was 8st 12 when I got my BFP (which had crept up from 8st since my wedding day in May) and I'm panicking about how much I'm going to out on, especially since the baby has yet to do its proper growing!!

I've already gone up a size in jeans :-(. I was quite careful with what I ate before getting pregnant and would track my calories (less so after I got married though, hence the weight gain) as I've never been one of those people who can just eat a 'normal' diet and stay the same weight. I have to eat barely anything and exercise to maintain my weight, which just seems impossible right now, I'm so hungry and just want chocolate and cake! I think I have a really slow metabolism as I've kept exercising (although to a lesser extent) since I found out I'm preg. I go to Metafit once or twice a week, do the Tracy Anderson pregnancy workout about twice a week, 20 mins on an exercise bike two or three times a week and usually a bit of Blogilates (HIIT & pilates) once a week. I've lost so much fitness too.

My friends all say to just enjoy the eating but none of them put on weight this quickly! I don't really know what to do. I don't think I can restrict my eating as I'm starving all the time!

Also really thirsty and find I get a headache if I don't drink lots of water every day.

I've bought a few bits, like a couple of babygrows, some booties, a little bunny but will wait to buy big things until after our 20 wk scan. We're going to paint the baby's room soon hopefully (ugh, hate painting!).

Rikalaily · 13/02/2015 14:54

Please stop worrying about weight ladies, the lighter you are the more you will gain, that's normal as your body needs a certain amount of bodyfat etc to sustain a healthy pregnancy, those of us who started off with a little extra don't need to gain as much in the early months. Thin people tend to gain faster at first then it tails off as you get close to the end, the rest of us pile some on at the end usually. It can be lost afterwards but you have to bear in mind that after your first baby your body shape changes so you may still not fit in your old clothes the same way anyway.

I only gained 4lb of me weight with my first, he arrived 5 weeks early, probably not down to just the lack of weight but it was a factor. I don't bother weighing myself when pregnant now, just go with the flow and it's a lot less stress.

Guyropes · 13/02/2015 15:50

fanby yes! positive thinking! I have been going through the application stuff today and thinking of what to say... what strengths will you bring to our team? argh!

If we've been working we should be eligible for maternity allowance, for which you have to fill in a mega form apparently.

if yours is a new contract with the same employer I think they would have to honour their maternity deal with you, as your employment would be continuous.

joskar not bf now, but did with my previous dc. got to about 5 months pregnant and just couldn't bear it any longer and weaned dc1. I think play it by ear... i'm sure there is a thread on here for tandem feeders which might be informative!

Is there a facebook group I can be added to? I'm on there a lot more than here and I'm struggling to keep up with everyone!!

Emb540 · 13/02/2015 17:58

polkadot search for Alex she'll add you.
Her post is on previous page with her profile pic
A lot easier to keep up with everyone. Xx

Jackieharris · 13/02/2015 18:07

Hi, I've been on the September thread but now I've been given an August due date so have come over here instead.

This will be dc3, so the routine's familiar!

PolkaDotSpots · 13/02/2015 18:44

Thanks Emb!

karatekimmi · 13/02/2015 20:04

Welcome jackie
I'm "on holiday" at my parents house for a week with a chicken poxy son!! A few lie ins and naps won't go amiss!!

Augustwedding · 13/02/2015 21:19

Have messaged Alex re joing FB group!

I'm exhausted, been in bed since 730pm! Only 2 days till we find out the sex!

MagicAlwaysLeadsToTrouble · 13/02/2015 22:49

What's the facebook group called?

Shantotto · 14/02/2015 05:48

Hey everyone, not posted for a while. Had the harmony test done yesterday. A really detailed scan and blood tests. They also told me that they think it's a boy! Didn't know they could tell so early. I'd convinced myself it was a girl! Took a little while to sink in it was a boy. They'll know for sure when the results are back in two weeks but I'm sure they are rather accurate.

Got DP to grudgingly agree that if number two was a boy too we can try for a third though, hehe! Hope you're all doing well.

Joskar · 14/02/2015 07:21

Watch out for the accuracy of the sex scan. I know of a lass who was told she was having a girl and she went to town with the pink: decorating the nursery, clothes, everything. Turned out it was just a shy boy! She was devastated. All her bump bonding had been with a girl and she didn't know what to do with this wee boy. Took her ages to get over it.

Thanks Guyropes. She seems to be dropping quite a few feeds of her own accord which is good. I thought she'd be done by now but hey ho. I work ft and have done since she was 8 months but until recently she's been feeding lots and lots. I've been loathe to push it not least because it took us 10 weeks before she was ebf in the first place! Don't know if I'm that keen to bf two of them. I'll check out the threads.

Dozygirl · 14/02/2015 09:29

Sorry I've been awol for awhile. My mum had a mini stroke and although she's ok it freaked me out because I love her so much and I don't like the fact she's getting older and things like this are inevitable.

Re: the weight gain convo. I've put on half a stone in total but that was all in the beginning when eating helped stop the nausea plus it was Xmas and I always put weight on over Christmas. I find it so unfair that it takes weeks and weeks to lose a few pounds but just one week to put it all back on agai. I've always struggled with my weight anyway so I'm desperate to start getting a bump so I look pregnant rather than just feel fat. I still can't feel a bump yet but still got a couple more weeks I think before it'll pop out.

Glad to hear all the scans are going well and welcome to any new people.

joskar I've heard so many tales about the scan getting the sex wrong especially when they say it's a girl. I thought the 4d private scans are more accurate though. I was thinking of getting one but they do it at 16 weeks and I kind of want a little bit longer of not knowing and seeing how the bump develops etc. I've convinced myself it's a boy though anyway.

Shantotto · 14/02/2015 09:53

Mine was done as part of the harmony test and the consultant said she could see so did we want to know... It'll be confirmed in two weeks when my bloods are back! I'll probably get used to the boy idea and tills be a girl. Staff at the clinic all convinced she's right. Lots of them telling me boys are less trouble!

sianihedgehog · 14/02/2015 10:29

birchwoods Yep, all that is SO familiar. We've even started out at around the same weight, although mine is low because I'm short, not because I'm particularly slim! The one and only thing I've found that has helped at all is making myself massive bags of raw veggies to snack on all day. I can't restrict my intake like I normally do, I feel really nauseous as soon as I get hungry still.

I normally do a lot of stuff like gardening and walking, plus cycling to and from work every day to keep my activity levels up, but it's SO HARD now. I'm constantly short of breath. I'm thinking I might try some weights rather than so much cardio, so at least I'll keep my strength and burn calories, and maybe the shortness of breath and feeling sick won't be as bad.

A huge hell yes to the headaches and dehydration, too. I know exactly how much i usually drink and I've needed literally twice that lately.

SweetPeaand2P · 15/02/2015 09:12

Hi can I join on here?

I'm expecting on 10th August and have a little boy who's 3. He's just adjusting to the news, I was thinking of getting some books for him. Any suggestions?

Frolicacid · 15/02/2015 12:42

Hello! I've been a bit quiet this week due to being asleep at 8pm every night for my first full week back at work!! When does this mythical glow hit? I'm bored of feeling like shit now!

My hg is loads better, but not totally gone yet. I weighed myself this morning and I'm 10 lbs

Frolicacid · 15/02/2015 12:51

Arrghhh!! Just lost a massive post!!

I'm 10lbs lighter than BFP day. But I'm chubby enough for it not to be a problem. My tits are so huge it's barely noticeable. And I'm getting a definite bump now. 13 weeks on Wednesday, which is also scan day. Can't wait to tell people as I'm sure loads have guessed.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend? Welcome sweetpea. This is #1 for us, so not idea about telling siblings. I'm sure someone will be along with some good advice in a mo.

Augustwedding · 15/02/2015 14:06

It's a boy!

Guyropes · 15/02/2015 17:23

Hi everyone,

Welcome, sweetpea!

I'm not sure how I would approach telling a 3 yr old... He's not old enough really understand all the consequences. There are some lovely books, so I'm sure you'll find something appropriate.

My dc are older and had almost given up on getting another sibling, so they were over the moon when I told them... But they've been through several stages of 'where do babies come from?' And 'why don't you have another baby mum?' And 'I understand why you don't have another baby, but I'm sad about that' etc etc. even so there are all sorts of things they hadn't thought of, and that they have a completely unrealistic idea of!

I guess I could hunt down some age appropriate books too!

Glad HG is improving for you, frolic, and hope your scan goes well next week! It's nice having a bit of a bump!

How exciting, August!

Hi all, this is my first post, I'm due August 26th. Just a quick query, I'm so jealous of everyone having their scans... I had my booking in appointment when I was 7+6 and won't be having another scan until I am 21 weeks. At 7+6 baby was basically a squiggle but we saw the heartbeat and it was so reassuring. Im just really disappointed we won't have the 12 week scan - does this seem normal? Its not my fault they called me so early for my booking in! Sad

Augustwedding · 16/02/2015 08:04

If your in the uk that is not normal, you should have a 12 week scan usually at your local hospital to check on the baby's size. I'd seriously be calling the midwife or head of midwifery to query this. Don't leave it! If you want to downs test comprising of nucheal fold measurement and bloods this also needs to be done at 12 weeks to 14+1.

nannynome · 16/02/2015 08:10

There is a book called "there's a house inside my mummy" which is nice and would work for a 3 year old.

I am off for my GTT now, am starving and grumpy because of it. Managed to put some tv on my iPad to watch for the 2 hours, also put Normandy pork in the slow cooker this morning and make breakfast for DH and DS so at least feel I have achieved something. Feels pointless doing GTT when I had gestational diabetes last time so will almost definitely have it again this time. Also have flu job and midwife today!

Telling work at the end of this week so I am worrying about that too. Meh!

dillydollydarling · 16/02/2015 12:08

Had my 12 week scan today. Was absolutely amazing! Little bean was a right wriggler and even had hiccups! All looked good and healthy. Starting to feel a little more real now.

PenguinTuxedo · 16/02/2015 13:01

What is GTT sorry?

Are you in the UK anyothergirl?

Great news Dilly :)
